Today we have the privilege of hearing from the IMB (International Mission Board) Vice President of Global Training, Zane Pratt. Today he will be preaching from Isaiah 49:1-6, "How Large is Your Vision?"
Our goals for the FOR HIS KINGDOM Missions Conference are:

1 Kings
Main Point: The books of 1–2 Kings continue the story of the people of Yahweh moving forward from the eternal promise given from Yahweh to David in 2 Samuel 7. The Messianic King would come through the line of David to fulfill the promises made to Abram in Genesis 12 and rule over the nations. Unfortunately, the kings found in the books of 1–2 Kings fall way short of this expectation.

Summary Statement: In the pages of Genesis, we see the story of God playing out in the first several generations. What God had created as very good in Gen 1–2, man had corrupted by falling into sin up through Gen 11. But then, God established his covenant with Abraham and the family that He promised to him. Barrenness (Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel) and brokenness (even the people in this family are messed up) of these people did not thwart the purpose of God.

It is the glorious display of God’s sovereign goodness, and is infinitely wise, holy, and unchangeable. It excludes boasting and promotes humility.
All true believers endure to the end. Those whom God has accepted in Christ, and sanctified by His Spirit, will never fall away from the state of grace, but shall persevere to the end. Believers may fall into sin through neglect and temptation, whereby they grieve the Spirit, impair their graces and comforts, and bring reproach on the cause of Christ and temporal judgments on themselves; yet they shall be kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation.

IV. Salvation
Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. In its broadest sense salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.
A. Regeneration, or the new birth, is a work of God’s grace whereby believers become new creatures in Christ Jesus. It is a change of heart wrought by the Holy Spirit through conviction of sin, to which the sinner responds in repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Repentance and faith are inseparable experiences of grace.
Repentance is a genuine turning from sin toward God. Faith is the acceptance of Jesus Christ and commitment of the entire personality to Him as Lord and Saviour.
B. Justification is God’s gracious and full acquittal upon principles of His righteousness of all sinners who repent and believe in Christ. Justification brings the believer into a relationship of peace and favor with God.

C. God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. Through illumination He enables men to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He calls men to the Saviour, and effects regeneration. At the moment of regeneration He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption. His presence in the Christian is the guarantee that God will bring the believer into the fullness of the stature of Christ. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service.

B. God the Son
Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself human nature with its demands and necessities and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His substitutionary death on the cross He made provision for the redemption of men from sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person who was with them before His crucifixion. He ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator, fully God, fully man, in whose Person is effected the reconciliation between God and man. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and to consummate His redemptive mission. He now dwells in all believers as the living and ever present Lord.

• Trials are certain, countless, but construction in that they produce perseverance and drive me to prayer (James 1:1-8)
• In the midst of your trials, remember your identity in Christ, recognize the immutability of God, and run to the Word faithfully (James 1:9-27)

In view of God's grace, I am challenged to pursue God consistently and resist sin aggressively.
How's your tongue? Our words have the ability to be life-giving or the ability to bring destruction. In this message on James 3, Vlad shows us that:
"In Christ, my speech can give life. Without Christ, my speech will destroy life."
James 3:1-12
- My speech has the ability to determine a direction (vv.1-4)
- My speech has the ability to deliver destruction. (vv.5-10)
- My speech has the ability to diagnose my heart (vv.11-12)
Biblical Encouragements: • Through His power, God alone can redeem my speech • Through His Word, God speaks life to me • Through His Spirit, the church speaks life to the world
God has a design for how we should use our words. We are prone to respond quickly and rashly. Here are a few biblical cautions against that: • Prov 18:6-7 - A fool's lips walk into a fight, and his mouth invites a beating. A fool's mouth is his ruin, and his lips are a snare to his soul. • Prov 18:21 - Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. • Prov 12:18 - There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
Words have power! • Gen 1:1 - And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light • Gen 1:6 - And God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” • Gen 1:9 - And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. • Gen 12:1-2 - Now the LORD said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great so that you will be a blessing. • Exodus 3:14 - God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’

- We desperately need something more than just tips and advice on how to live our lives. We are broken and we don't work right, even if we do have the right information.
- God not only gives us wisdom when we ask, but God guides us in wisdom
