USMC Sgt. John Peck (ret.) is one of the most inspirational people you will ever come across. He is a decorated Marine veteran, he WAS quadruple amputee, now a double amputee after a double arm transplant here in Boston, he's a husband, activist, motivational speaker, philanthropist, and now a published author. His book, "Rebuilding Sergeant. Peck: How I Put Body and Soul Back Together after Afghanistan" is available everywhere. He called Mistress Carrie to talk about his book, his recovery, and his wife who helped him through it all.

Marine Sgt. John Peck survived an IED during the War on Terror that left him with a traumatic brain injury, amnesia, and cost him his marriage. He survived another three years later that left him with three and a half limbs missing. He's one of only two living people to survive the flesh-eating fungus he contracted in recovery at Walter Reed, one that left him as a quadruple amputee. And that's only the beginning of his story.
What followed was a recovery nothing short of miraculous. With resilience and the help of advocates like actor and philanthropist Gary Sinise, FOX's Jennifer Griffin, and Bill O'Reilly, John would use a specialized "Action Trackchair" wheelchair and a newly-built SmartHome to get a third lease on life. In 2016, Peck underwent a groundbreaking bilateral arm transplant, receiving two new arms. To date, the surgery has been successful.
Today, Peck is a motivational speaker and a philanthropist for veteran and wounded warrior causes. From the lessons learned in a difficult childhood and as a homeless teenager, to dealing with depression and PTSD in recovery, to learning how to chop with another man's arms, Rebuilding Sergeant Peck is Peck's account of an honest, comedic, visceral, and inspirational story that is truly unique.

JOHN PECK TO BE SUBJECT OF DOCUMENTARY (STORY FROM DEADLINE)
The story of U.S. Marine Sergeant John Peck who lost both his arms and legs whilst serving in Afghanistan is to be the subject of a doc.
Viacom's Channel 5 has commissioned British factual producer Barcroft Studios to make a one-hour film about Peck, who underwent a ground-breaking bilateral arm transplant after losing his limbs in 2010.
The Man With Another Man's Arms tells Peck's story of dissatisfaction with his prosthetics, and determined to regain his independence, he put himself forward for ground-breaking surgery. After an arduous five-month wait, a donor was found and Peck underwent a bilateral arm transplant. The 16-hour surgery was just the beginning of John's journey - over the months that ensued he faced a battle to re-learn how to use his donor arms and re-train his brain to interpret sensation, something that his prosthetics couldn't offer. It's now been three years since his surgery, with a regime of intensive physiotherapy and daily milestones to overcome, from brushing his teeth, doing his hair through to driving a car and he has made remarkable progress. But he also faces his biggest challenge yet - the risk that his body will reject his new arms.
Duff McKagan from Guns N Roses called Mistress Carrie, since he'll be in Boston on June 1. He's touring with Shooter Jennings, promoting the album they worked on together called Tenderness, which comes out May 31. They talked about escaping the craziness of the GnR tour to write the new album, working with Shooter Jennings, and what it was like behind the scenes during the GnR tour. They also talked about how he spends his time off, and the amazing history of the City of Boston. He even encouraged her to go on the Boston Tea Party tour. She offered to be his personal tour guide while he was in town, so we will see if that happens. Look out Boston Mistress Carrie and Duff McKagan could be coming to take over!

The hard cover book contains 40-pages of photos from the recording sessions and also presents liner notes written by Duff detailing his experiences with each song and the project as a whole. TENDERNESS sees McKagan reflecting on his experiences traveling the globe over two and a half years on Guns N’ Roses’ Not In This Lifetime tour. Encountering heartbreak, anger, fear, confusion and divide on his travels during this tumultuous time in our world history, McKagan channeled a collective hurt into songs of monolithic power.
“We’re becoming divided at a time when we need each other most,” says McKagan. “When huge industries get replaced because of modernization, it’s time to retrain and bolster up those who get swept aside. Homelessness and drug addiction are avoidable in this country if we come together and get private and public cogs turning together in a positive direction. We can at least try to tackle mental illness while we’re at it. But alas, we stump and lie, point fingers and divide. We’re way better than this. As a father, I must say and do something now because I love my girls and my wife, and I love my country, and I feel I must be strong and use my voice now, do it while I’m able or perhaps never get a chance ever again.”
McKagan and Jennings began recording Tenderness a year ago this month, working out of Station House studios, located in Echo Park, CA, where they wrote and recorded in-between McKagan’s tour with seminal rock band Guns N’ Roses and the release of Jennings’ eponymous album, Shooter. TENDERNESS features Jennings and his band along with appearances by The Waters and The Suicide Horn Section (which features Duff’s brother Matt McKagan on trombone), amongst others.
Twelve months later, they’re gearing up to take these songs on the road for a North American tour that kicks off May 30 at TLA in Philadelphia. Prior to the tour’s launch, Los Angeles-based fans can catch McKagan and Jennings discussing the album and giving a special performance at the GRAMMY® Museum in downtown LA.

Mark Morton, guitarist from Lamb of God has a new solo album out called ANESTHETIC that features many well known artists, singers on the album include Chester Bennington, Randy Blythe, Jacoby Shaddix, Myles Kennedy, Alissa White-Gluz, Mark Lanegan, Chuck Billy, Jake Oni, Josh Todd, Mark Morales, and Naeemah Maddox. Musically, Morton performs all guitars, with Roy Mayorga, David Ellefson, Ray Luzier, Paolo Gregoletto, Alex Bent, Mike Inez, Jean-Paul Gaster, Steve Gorman, Marc Ford, Yanni Papadopoulos, and Chris Brooks rounding out the band. Mark called Mistress Carrie to talk about the show on March 18 in Boston, the album, working with Chester Bennington, and their shared love of the Black Crowes among other things.
David Draiman from Disturbed, sat down with Mistress Carrie backstage at the DCU Center before their headlining show.
