As the holidays wrap us in their familiar embrace, I find myself navigating a sea of emotions that many of us know all too well. In this heartfelt reflection, let me take you on a journey through the joys, the stresses, and the poignant absences that shape our yuletide celebrations. My personal narrative intertwines with a special 12-day series of episodes, each a beacon intended to light the way toward finding renewed meaning in our cherished traditions and the closing chapter of another year. Together, let's explore the symphony of Christmas music that has become a thread in the fabric of my family life, and I'll share why it matters so much.
Stepping into the realm of sustainability, I recount the spark that ignited my eco-conscious voyage—a simple garden compost. This week's discussion unveils the surprising cascade of choices that followed, from a dramatic reduction in plastic bag usage to embracing glass over plastic. I draw a parallel between these modest, personal shifts and their potential to ripple outwards, influencing greater change. As we unwrap the symbolism of the "12 Days of Christmas," I invite you to reflect on the themes of protection, nurturing, and the abundance that growth brings, just as I have. Woven into our conversation, these themes serve as an undercurrent, challenging us to consider the impact of our own protective layers and the nurturing we grant to others and ourselves.

Ever wondered if the way we perceive ourselves dictates our behaviors and emotions? Or if the people we choose to surround ourselves with are more of a reflection on us than on them? Tune in as we dissect these intriguing concepts through the enlightening metaphor of 'The Three Chairs', introduced by Dr. Karyn Gordon on the Resetters podcast. The chairs stand symbolically, each encapsulating a different attitude and representing the spectrum of self-perception - from self-doubt to arrogance to the golden middle ground of confidence laced with humility.
We further plunge into the depths of self-perception, analyzing its impact on our behavior and emotions, all through the lens of the acclaimed TV show 'Six Feet Under'. We'll also touch upon the natural evolution of friendships and the paramount importance of being around positive influences. We share our personal experiences and reflections on the subject, aiming to provide valuable insights for our listeners. For those keen on exploring these themes further, we recommend Dr. Karen Gordon's book "The Three Chairs" and Dr. Mindy Pelz' Resetter podcast. This episode is a treasure trove of wisdom, underlining the significance of self-awareness, intentional actions, and personal growth. So, ready to take the plunge into a journey of self-discovery and transformation? Buckle up!

Let's start by defining these two types of stories.
Redemption sequences are described as narratives that transition from negative emotion toward positive emotion, while contamination sequences are narratives that transition from positive emotion toward negative emotion.
Imagine how your life might change if you could harness the power of your personal narrative to influence your mental health and overall well-being. In this thought-provoking discussion, we draw on the compelling research of Jonathan Adler to explore the transformative potential of turning pain into purpose. We uncover the fascinating contrast of redemption versus contamination narratives, and how one's life story can significantly shape their reality.
Life is composed of alternate realities and the paths we choose to follow. One such journey took a woman from the precipice of military boot camp to the unexpected discovery of motherhood. Her narrative, stretching over a decade, helps us to understand the weight of our decisions, and how they can redefine our personal stories. Moreover, we venture into the realm of cultural narratives, investigating their major role in shaping our identities, and how therapy can help reconcile the expectations born from these narratives with our personal experiences.
Finally, we navigate the concept of agency, considering how it can guide us toward making the right choices in life. We reflect on the impact of leadership changes within a company, and how these can cause a drastic shift in the work environment. The allure of 'golden handcuffs' is another facet we explore and how this can create a barrier to leaving a job, even when it might be the best course of action. We close by acknowledging that our hardships can be woven into redemption narratives and that we can choose which parts of our stories to emphasize. So, join us for an enlightening conversation that may inspire you to see your own story in a different light.

How far would you go to feel comfortable in your own skin? Join us for an incredibly personal and profound discussion with our guest Tiffany, who shares her story of body transformation and self-perception. Navigating us through her journey, Tiffany opens up about her decisions to undergo a breast reduction, get implants, and later, opt to remove those implants. This episode is heavy with emotion as we dive into the deep waters of self-care, self-love, and the pivotal role they play in our decisions about our body image.
Tiffany's narrative takes a compelling turn when she recalls her decision to have the implants removed. What sparked this choice? A combination of intense research, spiritual guidance and a life-altering motorcycle accident. We also touch on the often neglected topic of detoxification post-implant removal. Tiffany shares her detox experiences and provides valuable insights on reducing toxicity in our bodies, starting with small, manageable changes in our daily habits.
In the final act of this riveting conversation, we discuss the power of language and its impact on self-perception and body image. Tiffany's revelation about rewiring her brain to form a more positive self-image is an incredible testament to the transformative power of language. The episode concludes with reflections on Tiffany's journey with implants and their removal and a surprising discussion on fat transfer as a potential alternative to implants. POEM
I will not die an unlived life
I will not live in fear
of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid,
more accessible,
to loosen my heart
until it becomes a wing,
a torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance;
to live so that which came to me as seed
goes to the next as blossom
and that which came to me as blossom,
goes on as fruit.

Next, I take the hot seat and Amanda guides me through a series of questions designed to determine whether I am well-suited to a career in coaching, speaking, and training. She draws on the work of Mark Savickas, author of the Career Style Interview, who looks at a person’s life as a “novel” being written with clues that lead to themes and unresolved issues that are expressed and healed in their careers. Listen until the end to hear my answers to these questions and see if this process could also HELP you find a dream career:

In this episode, I invite my long time soul sister, Amanda Kieper, to the show. Amanda is a professor of speech and leadership development, a certified John Maxwell coach, and a clinical mental health counselor in Rockford, Illinois. We have a blast discussing:
*How we met and why divorce led us to a deeper connection
*How female friendships grow, evolve, and sometimes dissolve
*How personality impacts communication choices
*The importance of travel and adventure with friends
*Interrupting generational patterns of withdraw and avoidance in midlife
*Self-awareness and blocks to growth
*Grieving the death of your parents
*Designing a life with fewer regrets
*Gottman's emotional bank account and sustainable relationships
*Building resilience
*How growing up in the trailer park influences our perspectives on life and love
Amanda was born and raised in the midwest about 90 minutes from Chicago, IL and 30 minutes from Beloit, Wisconsin. She earned a master's degree from Northern Illinois University in Interpersonal Communication in 1999 and went back for another Ms. Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling after she was diagnosed with panic disorder in 2004. Her passion and personal mission is to help others intentionally design a life with fewer regrets. She works with corporations, schools, and independent clients every month and it's the variety, adventure, and challenge of helping each new person uncover blind spots and reach personal mastery that fuels her flame. Her guiding values for 2023 are to live WHOLEHEARTEDLY in HARMONY with self and others and to cultivate more ORDER and discipline. She currently works at Rock Valley College and Forest City Consulting but dreams of one day living on the beach and continuing to do the work she loves. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and suggests that everyone read, Irving Yalom's, "Momma and the Meaning of Life."

During this week's episode, I interview Deanna Kuempel, a survivor of Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking.
This is a heavy topic and could trigger some listeners.
Learn more about Deanna in her BIO.
Deanna was born & raised in Chicagoland and studied Business & Accounting at Harper College. Before meeting her husband, she had a small event-planning business & offered personal training services. Deanna has an extensive background as an entrepreneur & leader. She was VP of Key Accounts & Business Operations for a $20 million transmission remanufacturing facility with 150 employees. She simultaneously ran four other entities (3 commercial real estate holding businesses & 1 installation arm for our manufactured transmissions) for 10yrs. Before a life-changing event, she closed one of the most significant contracts in my career with the State of South Carolina for 5yrs, estimated at $20 million. In one contract, she doubled the size of the business. She has many multi-million contracts/Key Accounts (FGA, Verizon, AER Dhamer Powertrain, and more). All have given her stellar recommendations.
But In 2016, she was forced to start over. Deanna always had a passion for Fashion. So she engaged a design company out of Soho, NY, to start on that journey. In 2017 she founded Deanna Marie Label - where she designed, produced, and launched three collections over a few years. I successfully fulfilled a Kickstarter campaign raising over $5k to make my first collection. I was on the runway in Rhode Island at StyleWeek. Deanna was a finalist for Style Chicago for the Cadillac Design Challenge and ended her fashion adventure with the last collection at a significant runway charity event against Human Trafficking at Stan Mansion in Chicago. During that time, she also rolled out a skincare line with her label and still has a steady client base.
In 2019 she read an article on how to start a podcast and thought, "I don't know who the heck I think I am, but I'm gonna do it!" Deanna says, "I have overcome much abuse & trauma, so I decided on the name Label Free with the help of my best friend, Julie Bryant. I truly live my life free of any labels. I focus on talking to entrepreneurs that are living life on their terms and can offer insight or a piece of wisdom for the audience." Since then, it has been such a great experience as I have grown and extende

Think about how often you've been angry with your spouse over something that didn't matter. You know, like the time they left the toilet seat up when they went to work or the time they forgot to take out the trash before bed.
It's okay to be angry about those things—I mean, we all have our little pet peeves and things that irk us. That's normal! But when it comes to co-parenting with your ex, you need to put aside that anger and focus on being a team that works together for the sake of your kids.
In this episode, we talk about some ways that you can forgive and move forward with a positive attitude so that everyone wins: you get to be happy without holding onto resentment, and your kids get two parents who are working together in their best interests.

Like many women, you may feel invisible once you reach middle age. You may feel pressure to mask the signs of advancing age. You may be feeling your body changing...drastically. You may have had to make difficult choices about family and career that men your age did not have to make.
Studies shows that midlife, the age range that spans between 40 and 65, can be quite tumultuous for women. During this time, women are not only dealing with biological changes, but they're also dealing with career changes, work problems, family issues, death, body changes, securing finances and reaching personal goals.
On the flip side, there are a whole lot of positive changes for us as well.
Just to mention a few.....

What roadblocks can stop us from growing in this area.
Highly effective people understand that they have power and influence over their enviroment. The have the ability to take action, utilize resources and are not as easily overwhelmed and stress.
Trust in your self creates a deeper sense of self confidence.
We learn by doing, we learn from the mistakes and we grow.
Mastery is both physical and mental and you have to be aware of the traps like negative self-talk, indecision, comparison and self-judgement and holding our self to an unrealistic level of perfection.

On this week's episode of the podcast I pose a few questions for you to consider.
Do you know what makes you happy?
Can leading a simple life lead to more happiness?
Are we obsessed with being happy?
Here are the 27 Emotions scientist say we have as humans (although there is conflicting information on this)
The two types of happiness are:
Hedonic - temporary but more easily accessible through things like food and sex.
Eudaemonichappiness is achieved through experiences of meaning and purpose and is the key to long-term sustainable happiness.
I hope you'll join me in our private Facebook group for more discussion.

Jean Kuhn, is a serial entrepreneur who became self-employed on April 29, 1985, at 8:52pm, when the nurse put that first baby in her arms, and she immediately knew she wasn’t going back to a job she hated.
In 2002, Jean bought her first bankrupt franchise business, and turned it into a profitable cash generating machine in 12 months.
In 2006, she bought a second bankrupt franchise business and created another cash generating machine in less than 12 months.
In both cases, Jean added $100,000 to the bottom line for each company in the first year. She did this with no list, no help or training from the franchise, and no budget for marketing. She created low cost/no cost marketing strategies that she still teaches her clients today.
Jean, has been a successful business strategist since 2006, when she started helping all types of businesses grow and scale their businesses.
She is here today to share some low cost/no cost marketing strategies with you.

have the game plan to turn that passion into action. I thrive on helping
them navigate the steps to make their passion a fulfilling and growth-
fueled career” Tracy
After 20 years in Asia, Tracy and her family repatriated to New
Zealand and whilst in Managed Isolation, Tracy started to build out

In today's episode we talk about OVERTHINKING. I help you define it and I offer some suggestions on how to recognize, manage and become more aware of your thoughts.
I help you understand how our belief systems help shape our thoughts and how the brain works to help reinforce those thoughts.
I also give some practical tips you can implement today on your journey to becoming a recovered overthinker.

On today's episode, Part 2 of Hormone Secrets with Author and retired MD Robert Yoho we continue our discussion of his book and have some straight talk about the benefits of hormone therapy.
Robert Yoho's Book Hormone Secrets Buy it HERE
PREFACE: If you do not know by now that corporations have disfigured healthcare, you have been living under a rock. For example, hormone therapy is claimed to be hazardous, but a century's science and experience prove its value. When these natural substances are low or absent replacing them may be the safest and most effective treatment we have. In contrast, drugs are foreign substances that cause side effects and worse.Hormone supplementation potentially treats or improves:Longevity: Low levels of thyroid, growth hormone, estrogen, testosterone, and DHEA are linked to premature death.Cancer: Estrogen, DHEA, testosterone, progesterone, melatonin and human growth hormone all have protective effects against cancer.General Health: In women under age 60, long-term estrogen replacement therapy decreases strokes, blood clots, colon cancer, diabetes, and macular degeneration. It reduces the likelihood of tooth loss, depression, osteoporosis, and death because of bone fracture. Breast cancer is unaffected, contrary to common opinion. Avoidance of estrogen was estimated to cause 50,000 excess deaths over en years in a Yale StudyAlzheimer's Disease: When long-term care costs are included, this is the most expensive ailment of all. Estrogen decreases the chances of getting AD significantly when it is started within 10 years of menopause.Heart disease: Over 40 observational studies have shown that giving estrogen to women reduces coronary artery disease, heart attacks, and deaths. When men have higher levels, they have less heart disease. Giving natural estrogen to deficient men improves cholesterol but does not increase blood clotting.Depression: Estrogen, DHEA, progesterone, testosterone, and melatonin all have anti-depressant effects. Thyroid has been studied and used for depression for over fifty years.Obesity: Thyroid, estrogen, testosterone, DHEA, and human growth hormone reduce unhealthy belly fat and promote weight loss."Bio-identical" hormones are the same as those found in humans. These are safe, affordable, and have few side effects. But since these natural body substances cannot be easily patented, they are barely profitable for big PHARMA. So the drugmakers concoct proprietary limitations from chemicals or animals. Their prices are extortionate.Stories have been spread that hormones such as estrogen and testosterone cause cancer, heart disease, blood clots, and other diseases. With few exceptions, these are false. And for insulin, growth hormone and others, we have allowed the drugmakers to exorbitantly increase their fees using proprietary manufacturing. The result is that hormones are overpriced and difficult to prescribe. Doctors are pressured to use toxic, expensive patent drugs instead. These trends are squandering our resources and costing us years of healthy life.
Part One of the podcast we have a lively discussion about menopause and the benefits of hormone supplemenation. We dive into the differences between the types of HRT and the benefits. We also begin our discussion on thyroid.

Lorna Shannon Episode 2 On today’s show, I interview Lorna Shannon. Lorna has an impressive list of credentials. Her background is in Nursing, Midwifery, and Family Planning (Sexual and Reproductive Health). She is certified in: Advanced Hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) as well as being a Master Life Coach. She specializes in Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) for Stress and Anxiety, Insomnia, Confidence & Self Esteem, Addictions, and Weight Issues. She has a BSc (Hons) in Health and Social Care, Post Graduate Diploma in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN), and Diplomas in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Applied Social Sciences, Health and Social Welfare, Criminology and Asthma. She has always been intrigued as to the reasons for different human behavior, which lead her to study: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and ultimately Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT). RTT lets you review an issue, not re-live it and when you get to see things from a different perspective, you get to let them go. RTT is powerful, transformative, and life-changing. So change your thoughts - change your life! Lorna and I had a great discussion on the benefits of combining Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and ultimately Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT). I share how she used her form of therapy to help relieve my 10-year case of insomnia in one session followed by a nightly recording to retrain my brain. We discussed the long term detrimental effects long term insomnia has on the body. It literally touches every organ, can cause diabetes, hypertension, heart attack, depression, stroke, and even some forms of cancer. Long term insomnia left untreated can shorten your lifespan. Lorna shares how we can update our brain’s software by using affirmations. She recommends present tense 3-4 words starting with “I am” … She says put it on your mirror with lipstick, put it on your screensaver. Repeat it often, the brain loves repetition. “Every behavior begins with a thought.” Don’t use the possessive form of a pronoun unless it is something you WANT to own. Don’t say “My depression, My anxiety, My insomnia. Be mindful of the words you say to yourself.. Your brain’s software is listening. Find Lorna Shannon at https://www.resolvehypnotherapyonline.com/ https://www.facebook.com/lorna.shannon.52 https://www.instagram.com/resolve_hypnotherapy_online/ *Note in our discussion I mention a drug I was prescribed to help me sleep -- I mistakenly said it caused INSOMNIA I mean to say it causes drowsiness. What are the dangers of taking gabapentin? Gabapentin is generally a safe drug when taken according to a doctor’s instructions, but there are some risks. Side effects can include sleepiness, loss of coordination, trouble with vision, and dry mouth. Less common side effects are weight gain, edema, fever, headaches, abnormal thoughts,...
