The bringthebeats underground is a Toronto-based collective dedicated to the electronic dance music scene since 2002. Our preferred style is funky progressive house, but we promote any sound with depth and substance. This SoundCloud stream features exclusives, live sets and classic favourites.

DEMI was recently invited to play alongside the On Rotate residents who have created a positively charged community of music lovers and artists with their buoyant DIY approach to making things happen; very much in the spirit of the early Deeper Substance days. Finding a space and bringing a lot of beautiful music folk together to enjoy this thing we call LIFE. ❤️ This mix is oozing of just that.

The lockdown of 2020-2021 also marked the 60th birthday of pioneering DJ, the DJ’s DJ Danny Tenaglia. A man who continues to leave an indelible footprint in electronic music. DEMI’s own career has been intrinsically connected with Danny over a 20-year friendship that has endured. A friendship that has seen the two play together in London, NYC and Ibiza, a friendship that continues to inspire the other musically with their frequent exchanges of music ideas and sounds. And in recent years, as European tour manager for his European shows. And as a thank you and mark of respect, the call came from Danny to invite DEMI to contribute a 60 min set as part of his 60th birthday virtual celebrations which was streamed globally via Beatport.

Whilst many over lockdown were frequently streaming from their own homes, DEMI had kept himself very much private during this period until the call came along which he could not turn down and went into a deep dive in presenting an hour of music that pretty much encompasses exactly what has endeared DEMI to a worldwide audience. It’s a 60-minute music odyssey and tribute to the master. Packed with super edits and cuts that have never been shared or published before, enjoy this special tribute mix by DEMI.

Just like all of entertainment, the dance music scene in our beautiful city is in dire straights. As of posting, Toronto remains in the longest COVID-19 lockdown in the world, with our nightclubs never really being back in the mix since the pandemic began. It’s sucked the life out of our underground, as we have admittedly not been immune to this.

Even though we’ve been working on a new music project, it has been consistently delayed as we struggle to find regular work time within our tight quarantined / homeschooling situation. Sadly, we’ve also lost connection with so many of our core DJs, who are seemingly struggling to find their groove too. Thankfully, as always for the BTB crew, it’s Craig Anderson to the rescue!

Craig’s provided us with this stunning, Roxy Music-inspired “Don’t Stop the Dance” exclusive. It’s the perfect reminder to embrace the incredible healing powers of music. We can never forget the underground sounds that have brought us so much joy in the past and can undoubtedly be our medicine as we (try to) patiently wait for our turn on the dance floor once again.

Within the mix, Craig remains true to his progressive roots, with beautiful melodies and rolling basslines. Many of the selections feature vocal samples that expertly connect our emotions to the rhythms. And as the compilation reaches its breakbeat crescendo, our muscle memory reminds us to get up and restart the dance that should have never stopped under any circumstance.

We’re so fortunate to have a musical talent like Ev3rsun in our actual family. When you do, beautifully melodic gifts like this appear in your inbox for your anniversary. This exclusive is made increasingly special by the fact Andrew recently celebrated a milestone of his own. The fourth decade of Ev3rsun’s brilliance is upon us! If his path continues to sound like this, the very best of an already promising career in music is still to come. Thanks so much Andrew and Happy Birthday!

We’ve said it so many times, it’s a great day when we receive the late-night message, “I just pressed record!” Craig’s impromptu inspiration is always a gift; especially when your daily life revolves around homeschooling and you’re in need of a little solace. In this exclusive, Craig has provided some relief with an old-school flare…

“Hit record on a random folder from a few years back. I played most tracks at random within, except for the last five, which were from other random folders, and one new track thrown in. Soooo much good music that doesn't get played out near as much as it should! Gotta bring it out again for the BTB anniversary!”

Nothing in this world comes easy. It’s clear nothing about the coronavirus is easy. It’s flipped the world upside down in so many ways and exposed cracks in our society that have existed for generations. Yet, nothing of worth comes without struggle and the lives on this earth are definitely worth fighting for.

People of colour, people over 60-years of age, the poor, the disadvantaged; people of all walks of life are worth the trouble. The trouble of staying close to home so others more vulnerable won’t pay the ultimate price. The troubles that come with speaking up against injustice. The sacrifices we all must make to come out of this tumultuous time much better on the other side.

Our nephew Andrew aka Ev3rsun is someone who’s been forced to sacrifice much of his life. No day for Andrew has ever been easy and yet he remains one of the kindest and gentle souls you’ll ever meet. Fortunately for us, he’s able to manifest that beauty through music so even for just one hour, all our difficulties and frustrations can be tucked away.

Andrew’s an incredible source inspiration. He has so much talent and can seemingly harness it on a whim. It was two years ago this month that Ev3rsun shared his “this soon will pass” mix to help console our province’s progressives during a tough time. The timing of this return is also impeccable, as the entire planet needs a musical hug right now.

For the first two-thirds of this exclusive Ev3rsun winds his way through beautiful melodies, groovy beats and subtle, yet super impactful samples. Just as you’ve settled into his emotional trek, he infuses some funk and soul that leads us toward an epic ending that will certainly leave you thirsting for more.

Thankfully, so many in our underground continue to give us more. The relentless flow of releases and performances on live streams encourages us to hang tight and continue to flatten the curve—hopefully eradicate it one day soon. We’re so grateful to have something to share directly with our crew and that’s because, once again, the ever-so-special Ev3rsun has come through.

This ain’t no joke. The entire planet needs to stay isolated until the scientists tell us it’s okay to go back to our normal lives. Not the politicians or “business leaders,” the real medical professionals are the ones who decide whether it’s safe to resume regular activity or not. Really, how difficult is this anyway?

If you’re reading this post, you probably have at least one comfort of home. The Internet provides so much of what our psyches need. Access to speak to our extended families and friends face to face, our favourite movies and television shows, books, articles, shopping, games, jokes and of course our beloved music. A beautiful array of live music is continually posted by the hour and for that we thank the musicians immensely. It’s been been incredibly soothing for us.

Once again, we’re grateful to share another exclusive compilation to help enhance our global isolation. This silky smooth mix from #TOLocALe Chris MacPhee is perfect for those moments right after the kids go to bed or you’ve closed the laptop after a long day. If you’re an essential service, this medley of subtle beats, emotional vocals and groovy melodies can hopefully alleviate a little of the stress. Pair with a nice glass of red wine will certainly do the trick.

Cherish this extra time with loved ones and the opportunity to catch up on things we’ve put off. Take this time to check off as many items on the to-do list as possible and take full advantage of the artistry shared by those who can’t help but make our lives much nicer to live. And thank you Chris for making today much, much better to listen to.

When you’ve been AWOL with fresh content for as long as we have, you must return with something BIG! This one is not only huge in size—a 6+ hour live set—it’s also massive in BTB stature with the return of Gensi aka Add2Basket aka our very good friend András Genser.

Like us, Gensi may not be as visible within the underground as he used to be, but he’s never too far away from the sounds. András has made a name for himself in Budapest as a high-quality music producer for commercials and short films and is also one half of the cinematic live act @changinggrey.

Recently, András has been back in the DJ booth under the Gensi moniker for some all-night sessions at LÄRM, one of which he’s provided here exclusively for the bringthebeats crew. As you’ll hear in this truly epic set of all proportions, Gensi never misses a beat. The mixing and programming are silky smooth and his track selection remains as unique as ever.

Gensi is the next groovy chapter in an already storied musical career; one that we remain incredibly proud to be a part of. He’ll perform alongside another old school friend of the BTB crew, @balerik in Oslo later this month. Every house-music loving Norwegian and anyone else who can find their way there should stay glued to András’ social channels for more info.

2018 was a time of transition in our lives and bringthebeats took a back seat as a result. However the turn of the calendar offers new beginnings, fresh ideas and newfound inspiration. Who knows where all this will lead us, but optimism fills the air at the moment and we have the perfect debut exclusive to represent our positive attitude.

Chris MacPhee is a bringthebeats loyalist, good friend and connoisseur of finely curated house music. Most of Chris’ time is spent surveying the skies for Sunwing Airlines, but he manages to be grounded long enough to compile and compose regular promo mixes that consistently reserve top billing in our rotation.

We’ve worked on obtaining this sensationally smooth and emotional exclusive for some time now. It’s only fitting we’ve finally scored it as we embark on yet another New Year and another opportunity for A Fresh Start.

We’re kind of cheating with this exclusive, as it’s already been aired on @miguelrechy’s Planeta Radio show. But we promise, the only place you’ll find the on-demand stream and download, is right here in the bringthebeats underground.

Miguel introduced us to Nils Laga aka Freiboitar’s music through this mix early last month and we absolutely fell in love with the groovy, funky, soulful disco vibe. He knew we’d love it and want to promote it as our own and he was absolutely right.

This exclusive will be the perfect soundtrack for the rest of our summer. These are the light-hearted beats that get shoulders shimmying and hips shaking. Our first impression of Germany’s Freiboitar is a great one! Thanks for the introduction Miguel.

It’s so easy to question humanity right now. Greed and selfishness seem to rule the day worldwide. But this is who we are as a people; we must fall down in order to rise for the better.

As a whole, we must do our best to focus on the positive. Our crew finds refuge in the beauty of creativity and the sights and sounds of selfless artists who share their talents to lift our spirits and combat those who attempt to stall our progression.

Our nephew and partner, Ev3rsun is one of these altruistic soldiers. Despite his own hardships, he remains a consistent source of kindness and empathy. This mix is a perfect example, as his warm heart radiates from within its emotion.

His message is strong; beautiful (and groovy)… this too will pass.

Thanks so much Andrew, we needed this.

This is obviously an incredibly meaningful set for the BTB crew. 471 Richmond Street West was essentially the house that Luke Fair built. He headlined the space 13 times, with many of the sets of an open-to-close variety.

The all-nighter’s allowed Luke to find his comfortable zone in the early hours, while playing some of the deeeep bombs we don’t often hear in his peak-time sessions. He knew the room better than anyone and a lot of that familiarity came from being the one who dropped the first track.

Today, we gift to you the first hour-and-a-half of Luke’s final set at Populus (aka TOiKA & Toika Lounge). This is how Luke set the tone for what turned out to be an absolutely magical night—an event that was strictly about our friends and this music.

There are so many classic Triple J Mix Up’s from the early 2000’s that still sound incredibly fresh today. There’s something about that Aussie air that's brought out the best in all the DJs we love. This one from Lee Burridge is one of our all-time favs.

The core group in the BTB crew are extremely fortunate to live in a wonderful country like Canada. Our home and native land turns 150 today and even though we totally respect the justifiable grievance of our aboriginal people’s concerning that number, it’s a pretty special day for us here in the north.

We really wanted to share a memorable compilation to commemorate this landmark occasion and thanks to the brilliance of our Argentinean brother, Lucas Abadi, we’ve come through.

Lucas is without a doubt one of our all-time favourite DJs. Our crew sorely missed his music throughout the eight years he stepped away from the scene, but thankfully he made a triumphant return earlier this year. We could not be happier to host his third mix of 2017, a gift dedicated to all his Canadian fans, but one that should be enjoyed by house music lovers across the globe.

The sophisticated sounds of Love to Canada coincide perfectly with the diversity and acceptance we so appreciate in our Canadian culture. We haven’t had the chance to host Lucas on Canadian soil (yet), but we know his unique nature would fit right in with our vibe.

This exclusive is the perfect soundtrack for our very Happy Canada Day!!

The return of Sasha and Diggers as a duo has old-school clubbers reminiscing over the magical moments of the late 90’s and early 2000’s, when the progressive style of DJing really took off.

Our Irish mate Gary Weir taps into this era we'll never forget with tracks featured on some of Global Underground’s most revered compilations, including Hong Kong, Los Angeles (both John Digweed), Cape Town (Dave Seaman) and Toronto (Deep Dish). Tighten those dancin' shoes, because the pace is quick and melodies driving. These are the tunes that happily got us into this mess.

“This is a mix I put together after I flicked through some of my old progressive records and remembered how much I loved the scene back then. I found digital copies of some deep, dark and dubby progressive house and this is the result.” – Gary Weir

  2. Chab – The Dub Session (Cooler Dub Mix)
  3. Ben Shaw - So strong (Cass & Slide vs Meat Katie no daddy, not the whip mix )
  4. Paul Rogers – Krafty

The BTB crew just cannot get enough of Israel’s Shlomi Biton, as confirmed by his fourth bringthebeats exclusive. Shlomi's first two in 2010 and 2011—for our fresh BEATS series—were on the funky house tip and he went super deep and methodical when he plugged into the bringthebeats underground in June 2015.

Surprises are great at any time. The ones that come out of the blue are obviously special, but they don’t diminish expected surprises one bit. Husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, brother, sister, mom, dad or friend; it’s not too late, find someone who means the world to you and give them a Valentine Surprise.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve been close for a lifetime or just a minute, if you appreciate them, let them know you care. It doesn't need to cost a fortune, maybe just some time. No matter the value, it truly is the thought that counts.

Argentina’s Maxi Zamac promised tunes, and we’re thrilled to have them as our Valentine Surprise. Custom made for our tastes, there’s not a sweeter treat for our crew than some fresh beats. I’m very happy to finally be back with my first mix of 2017! Given my full-time gig I find it extremely difficult to spend as much time on music as I’d like to during the months of November and December which inevitably leads to an itch as the new year begins.

The approach to my recent studio mixes remains the same with this outing. Namely to present great tunes from today and yesterday in a well thought out manner with an emphasis on smoothness and flow. Deep melodic house & techno with at least one major trip down memory lane for those of us old enough to remember.

Enjoy! Sean.

It’s been an incredible run, but we’ve reached an inevitable end. Not only for this series, but for bringthebeats.com as well. This is the last of 24 Plugged IN episodes and the final article we published on our website. We’ve written about dozens of DJs throughout our 14 years online, but there’s definitely not a better way for us to go out than with an article featuring our ultra-talented nephew Andrew, aka Ev3rsun.

Ev3rsun most certainly represents the new breed of the electronic music industry. A super-skilled musician across many genres, Andrew refuses to pigeon hole himself into one style. As you can hear in our series finale, Andrew’s journeys travel in and out of melodic, soulful bliss, crisp baselines and gritty grooves. His eclectic sound is a reflection of the challenges he’s faced throughout his 26 years on this planet. Blessed with a knack to adapt, Andrew’s found the ultimate outlet in music and wow, has he ever figured it out proper.

With a mix that warms (and kind of breaks) our heart, this is our series finale from Ev3rsun plugged into the bringthebeats underground…

Our most sincere appreciation goes out to everyone who supported this series and our movement throughout the years. We especially want to thank Andrew, who made Plugged IN the most professional-sounding series in bringthebeats history. It’s been more than just a pleasure to work with you on this project, it’s been the thrill of our promotional career.

Even though we will take our website offline this spring, you certainly haven’t heard the last of the bringthebeats crew. We will reroute bringthebeats.com to our SoundCloud profile and continue to communicate with you through our Facebook and Twitter accounts. We still hope to score exclusives from our favourite DJs and plan on digging up even more classics from our vault to build upon our 600-plus set archive.

House music literally saved my life. Our website helped me shape what I salvaged of it. Since we published bringthebeats.com online on October 4, 2002, we’ve assembled a crew of friends that have provided the warmest of memories, almost all I’ll never forget. I blame the after parties at Club 1000 for the ones that may have slipped by.

The page turns and a new chapter begins. I move forward proud of where we’ve been and eager to discover what’s next. Thank you for being a part of this groovy adventure, but please stay tuned, our love affair with this music will never end. gD.

Winter is coming and the forecast is unfortunately bleak. After a pretty disheartening year across the globe, it’s hard not to dwell on what’s to come, as we’re not exactly what we seemed to be or at least what we hoped we were. Step by step and day by day is all we can take. We need to live in the now and try not to focus on the past or future, because they’re definitely not under our immediate control.

What we can do is escape for a little solace and plug into the underground. Whether it’s ours or somewhere else in this vast and growing scene, music can be the answer. It always helps to lean on the tunes in difficult times. Just find a dance floor or slip your headphones on and block out the noise with some soul-saving melodies. It's what the groove doctor always orders.

We have a sweet-sounding remedy for you this month. Argentina’s Hernan Cerbello was featured in February, so we didn't plan on having him plug in again this year. But when he offered a mix of his tracks, from front to back, we couldn’t refuse. Hernan has been one of our favourite DJs since we introduced him to the crew in 2008. He’s also a top producer in our underground, so it's a BTB dream come true to marry his two skill sets in one super-cool exclusive.

With a production showcase that touches the soul, this is the Argentinean virtuoso Hernan Cerbello plugged into the bringthebeats underground…

We’ve hosted close to 70 events and helped promote hundreds more, but this site has never been about club culture. Like you’ve heard us say a zillion times, we’re about house music first and foremost. Yes, all electronic music sounds amazing on a big system surrounded by friends. That is true, but some of our greatest experiences with this music have taken place outside the club, with friends or alone with headphones on.

The music in the bringthebeats underground transcends all locations and adapts to the moment. The same sets can rock a room or chill you out on the sofa, and as a result, the artists presenting them are unconventional in terms of how people view DJs. Just in the last few months our Plugged IN series has featured a successful retail service entrepreneur, a sound recordist, a front end / application developer and a freelance graphic designer. Hardly the prototypical characteristics of the DJs you see on MTV.

Don’t be mistaken, each one of our featured artists has deep-rooted skills common to the electronic scene, but it’s not all they have. Not even close. Each one is multi-talented and committed to all aspects of their professional life, to ensure a comfortable life. What we love most about this, is we know their participation in music is for the love. Quite frankly, none of them are in this for survival and definitely wouldn’t want it that way.

This month’s guest fits the BTB bill to a T. Adam Nathan is well known around the Toronto underground. He’s owned a major record shop and label and has played in virtually every significant venue in our city’s rich clubbing history, including a residency at our beloved System Soundbar. Born in the UK and raised in Toronto, Adam has also performed in major metropolitans such as London, New York, Tokyo and Tel Aviv. From his personal style to internal groove, Adam Nathan personifies cool.

As gifted as he is cultured, Adam is the founder of Jellyfunk; “A borderless creative studio that creates identities, album artwork, videos, music, and whatever else we find interesting and feeds our curiosities.” His client list highlights a who’s who of the corporate world, including The Space Channel, Virgin Mobile, The Comedy Network, Mercedes Benz and many more. We really are suckers for this kind of versatility and professionalism. There are no one-trick ponies in the bringthebeats underground thanks to artists like Adam Nathan.

Even though we’ve known Adam for years, fondly remember his sets at System and have seen him many times on our dance floor, it was his ‘You Should Be Here’ mix series that rekindled our interest in his talent. And if you scroll down his SoundCloud profile you jump from one quality house mix to track, over and over and over again. His style is deep, funky, groovy, and soulful—all our favourite adjectives to describe any type of music.

Adam’s DJ style has paralleled ours for as long as we’ve been in the scene, so to request a housey set was never a stretch. As the days become shorter and the weather cooler, we yearn for a warm vibe to keep the summer dreams alive. Adam’s generously obliged with an exclusive conducive to whatever you’re up to, definitely on brand and right on cue. This is Adam Nathan plugged into the bringthebeats underground…

There are literally millions of DJs on this planet. Every day thousands of tracks are released and mixed into promo sets. It's dizzying to even try to keep up. It would be amazing if we could and there was a time when we tried, but we certainly can't now. Thankfully, we're lucky enough to have reached a point where we don't really have to.

Over the past 14 years we've promoted our favourite DJs and have been extremely fortunate to build strong, meaningful relationships with many of them. These guys and gals are all super talented and committed to the music as much as we are. Probably more, but they’re not always public about it.

The music business isn't easy to be a part of and definitely not all that profitable if you're keeping it underground. That’s why many of our DJ friends have stepped away from the booth full time, but that doesn't mean they've stepped away from the music or their talent. Behind the scenes most of our favs are still entrenched in the sounds of our mutual passion and are waiting for the perfect opportunity to share their work once again. So we don't need to be on top of the next big thing, because the tried, tested and true are there for us when moment is just right.

We've waited for the ideal occasion to ask Brad Copeland for a bringthebeats return. No matter how much new talent rises to the surface, Brad's natural skill will always be at least on par with the best of them. And we know he's always in tune with the freshest cuts, because we hear them every time we step into iTechnique. Our 14th anniversary is exactly when we should have Brad back in the live mix and the entire crew cannot wait for it!!

Thankfully, we don't have to wait another minute to hear Brad plugged in once again. It's been one year since we scored his last exclusive and that gem is still in our regular rotation today. Meticulous with every detail, when Brad releases something, you know he's put his heart and soul into it. This preview of what we'll hear at our 14th anniversary party is absolutely no exception.

It’s emotional, groovy, gritty and absolutely perfect for a bringthebeats dance floor, this is Brad Copeland plugged into the bringthebeats underground…

We probably shouldn’t say we’ll never throw another party, because our track record isn’t so good when doing so. However, if our 14yr anniversary party was our final jam, we couldn’t have ended our run in better fashion. We were on the Luke Fair and Brad Copeland tip from the very beginning and it would only be fitting if they were the ones who saw us out in the end.

Luke and Brad have already somewhat moved on themselves. Both only play select gigs, but you wouldn’t know it by how amazing it sounded inside Populus on this night. Brad hadn’t been in a booth in almost a year, but it was like he’d been preparing for our anniversary party every single day since. He was that on point. And Luke is one of those special talents who will never lose his touch. For almost a decade and a half, we’ve been unbelievably lucky to have these guys play for us and that was certainly the case on October 1st 2016.

Luke Fair’s set was a master class in groove, but we scored his INTIMATE & ON THE BOAT Summer Reunion set to share, so we thought it best we leave his anniversary set for those who were on the dance floor. However, it’s been way too long since we hosted a live Brad Copeland mix in our archive, so that’s the memory we have to share here.

Part 1 is some of the most beautiful deep and ambient house we’ve heard, maybe ever at a bringthebeats event (Find it here: www.soundcloud.com/bringthebeats/brad-copeland-live-at-bringthebeats-14yr-anniversary-pt1-october-1-2016) And when Brad really starts to warm the room in Part 2, we can virtually place ourselves back in front of the booth, lost in ecstasy. After all these years, Brad hasn’t lost an iota of his mixing precision and his ear for gems is quite simply something he’s been blessed with. If this is the last live bringthebeats recording we ever share, Brad Copeland's given us the perfect mix to go out on.

We couldn’t have been happier inside the club and now we can relive Brad’s precious moments for as long as our hearts desire. Huge thanks to everyone who supported us on this incredibly special night. Thanks to Luke Fair for always doing what he does, to Terence and the Poplulus staff for treating us like family and to Brad for his triumphant return. Be sure to check out the pics and of course, enjoy this melodic bliss…www.bringthebeats.com/2016/12/16/btb-14yr-anniversary-brad-copeland-has-still-got-it

A little rain can’t keep our good times away… It was the third time in four tries it’s rained for an INTIMATE & ON THE BOAT aboard the Tall Ship Kajama and once again the music and bringthebeats vibe overshadowed the overcast skies. It really was never in doubt with Luke Fair and Cesar Caballero spinning under the sails.

The party was absolutely trending toward a sell out, but the weather forecast for August 13th looked menacing for 14-straight days. At no point did it ever let up, causing our tickets sales to slow to only a fraction of what they usually are in the days leading up to a party.

Of course, it’s disappointing not to have the entire crew on board, but there’s always something special about a rainy day party that people who are afraid of a little water continually miss out on. We find people work harder to have a good time when they’re a little wet and trapped on the lake. With a “we’re all in this together” attitude, people’s inhibitions are left on shore and everyone dances like nobody’s watching.

Luke Fair definitely felt it. He said it was his favourite bringthebeats cruise so far and that’s saying a lot since the sun was shining bright for last year’s INTIMATE & ON THE BOAT. With the sails down the sound’s a lot tighter and the lighting achieves maximum effect, as you can see by the blue haze in the later night pics. And most of all, that feeling of togetherness is priceless.

It’s comforting to know that whatever the conditions, we can make good times happen. It’s a total team effort and that’s certainly led by the people we employ in the booth. We could be in a full-on blizzard and Luke Fair could still warm the floor. No matter how much time he takes off, he always steps up blows minds. Make no mistake, he works hard to do what he can do, but the talent is natural and plentiful.

Thanks to everyone who supported our Summer Reunion once again this year. Your dedication is what keeps us grooving. That and these incredible tunes, of course.

Well into his third decade in the club scene and Craig Anderson still loves it as much today as he did when he discovered DJing in the 80’s. Craig’s happiest when he’s behind the decks and the hunt for tracks continues to be one of his favourite parts of the craft. The result: a tonne of mixes filled with groovy, sexy bombs!!

The beauty of the CRAIG ANDERSON dj sets archive, is that it’s all mixed live. There’s no computer doing the work. Craig’s not even mixing parts and splicing them together. What you hear is always one full take. His promo sets are a true reflection of what to expect on one of his dance floors. He’s the purest of the pure… in Craig we trust.

Craig’s second instalment for our Plugged IN series is super deep, emotional and sensually soulful. He really knows how to tug on those old heart strings. This is our right-hand man, Craig Anderson plugged into the bringthebeats underground…

We’ve never met anyone more in love with music than Cesar Caballero. Whether he’s playing drums in a Caribbean band or DJing inside the clubs of Toronto and beyond, Cesar’s passion for making people dance is unmatched and his positivity towards the music scene is unrelenting. Cesar always focuses on the brighter side and that’s continually reflected in his craft. He truly is a maestro.

Our relationship with the Groove Garden Recordings founder has spanned the past five years and is well documented on this site. bringthebeats has reached its greatest heights alongside Cesar and the Groove Garden crew. He’s provided a steady and reliable presence opening most of our parties since 2011 and many of the people we’ve met through him and his partner Diana have become friends and supporters for life. It took way too long for Cesar to find us, but it’s been one hell of a ride together since we made our connection at INTIMATE & UNDERGROUND v10.

Cesar’s accomplished a tonne in Toronto, as both an artist and organizer. He’s still growing within our scene, but the time has come for Cesar to take the knowledge he’s amassed since arriving in Canada over a decade ago and lend this expertise to his crew back home. Groove Garden has some incredibly exciting plans upcoming in Cartagena and we’ll certainly have a lot to report on as they come to fruition, but for now, Cesar remains in Toronto and we’re going to take full advantage. Starting with this Plugged IN exclusive, that may be the best mix he’s compiled for us to date.

The melodies you’re about to hear sincerely touch the soul. The emotion is tangible and love ever-present. We’ve been working with Cesar for a long time and he was entrenched in music well before he met us, so it feels unbelievably special to realize our friend is just now coming into his own.

Making us all groove from Cartagena to Toronto and back again, this is the Colombian maestro Cesar Caballero plugged into the bringthebeats underground…

Many promotions will allow you to believe a good party is all about the DJ and some DJs love that punters buy into this hype. That’s not how we work in the bringthebeats underground and it’s why we support DJ’s—and people—whose attitude follows an exact opposite approach. We support DJ’s like Add2Basket.

It’s music, music, music for András Genser aka Add2Basket. He doesn’t need for you to see who he is; he just wants you to hear what he’s all about. And what he’s all about musically varies immensely. House is his base, but he accents the genre with disco, indie, tech and whatever else entices the ear throughout his marathon track searches. Finding the most distinct tracks is so important to András, he named himself after the the process.

From Add2Basket’s Everything you always wanted to know about MUSIC but were afraid to ask series, to The Rogue Show, his current Sayonara Summer Sunset mixes and all the uniquely cool live and promo sets in between (all found in the ADD2BASKET dj sets archive), the Hungarian never fails to surprise with his selections. He finds the lost gems and compiles them masterfully; building tension and constructing moments that touch upon an array of emotion. He’s a gentleman filled with humility and passion who creates complex, yet super-fun music that everyone and anyone can get into. Add2Basket is certainly our kind of DJ.

András returns to Toronto to headline the INTIMATE & UNDERGROUND portion of our Summer Reunion at TOiKA. After his last performance inside the space in 2012 he outlined the underground design currently found inside the club today. His brain just works that way. He’s not only up there doing his thing, Add2Basket observes all the details that can improve a party and thankfully shares that expertise with us. It’s going to be a special moment on the dance floor when András experiences his plan in action for the first time on August 13th.

Besides Luke Fair, we’ve hosted more mixes from Add2Basket than any other artist we support. We’re so fortunate to have literally dozens of Add2Basket exclusives with the bringthebeats brand attached to them. Each one is unique and seemingly better than the last, although over time it’s clear they’re all of equal quality and importance. Just like every DJ we support, clubber who supports us and details of any event we host.

He encompasses the bringthebeats vibe as well as any other, this is Add2Basket plugged into the bringthebeats underground…

For as long as we’ve known what it takes to be a proper DJ, Luke Fair has been on the top of our list. As soon as we heard his mix for John Digweed’s show in 2001 and realized he was from Toronto, we knew this was a guy we had to support. Our crew shadowed him all over town, from System Soundbar to the multiple places they held the Solution parties. We were up front and centre every time Luke Fair was in a booth.

It was on the big stage inside the Kool Haus in 2001 when Luke opened for Deep Dish and Saeed + Palash that our interest exploded to another level. We only caught the tail end of his set at that legendary Goldclub event, but it was the first time we were introduced to Luke in person and immediately you could sense his humility. He’s not your average DJ focused on fame. You could tell popularity was just a distraction from his true passion, music. And we know that sounds cliché, but those who really know Luke, know he’s one of the guys who made that cliché what it is.

DJing is an insular experience for Luke Fair and that’s why he’s so damn good at it. It’s also why he can’t stop mixing even though he’s moved on from regular touring. Luke has transitioned his talents to the online world, which is sad for his fans across the globe, but great for the crews in his favourite cities. Toronto has the privilege of being one his primary outlets for a passion that will never quit and we relish every time we can get in the groove it.

Our last party with Luke on New Year’s Eve was incredible and we’re counting the days to this summer’s INTIMATE & ON THE BOAT reunion. If you have any hesitation as to why, you can listen to this month’s Plugged IN exclusive—our first return instalment for the series. Proving he can always find the the best tunes in the business and definitely knows what to do with them, this is Luke Fair plugged into the bringthebeats underground…

If we only had one day left on this earth and had to spend it with a DJ, Eli Wilkie would be our choice. Not only would we get to hear all the tunes we love, he’d have us literally laughing to death. We’ve never had more fun with a disc jockey in and out of club scene. Eli Wilkie is an absolute legend in every sense of the word.

We met the Bostonian on the Stereo dance floor in the early 2000’s and have spent a ton of time together in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and always at the Winter Music Conference in Miami. He and his partner in rhyme “DJ Steve Porter” make up the production duo Agent 001 and are responsible for many our favourite classic cuts, such as Faakson, Jabba Jaw, Daniel Wiggy and the iconic Bubble Bath.

Eli and Steve would also bootleg the craziest tracks, including an unbelievably hilarious version of the Miami Vice theme we’ll never forget hearing at Julian Prince’s place the first time we met. Eli has also co-produced some of Steve’s world-renown video mash-ups that have been broadcast and commissioned by many of the biggest brands in all of media.

Eli’s allure is certainly his humour and overwhelmingly positive energy and you hear it in his music first and foremost. He shows us all that life shouldn’t be taken as seriously as we often do. Whether it’s sports, politics or the often-pretentious music scene, Eli approaches it all with a smile and the most hilarious joke that could be made in the moment. Eli Wilkie’s entire demeanour is a talent and we relish any opportunity to be around it.

Eli’s roadshow has now landed in San Francisco where holds a couple after-hour residencies. He loves being in the booth entertaining the fans and trust us, it’s an absolute blast to be on the dance floor when Eli’s doing his thing. This super groovy, soulful and Silky Sleaze smooth Plugged IN exclusive is a perfect example of what you’ll always hear when the Funkonaut is in the mix.

This is a gift we weren’t sure we’d ever receive. Yes, we were able to enjoy this fantastic mix inside TOiKA on the magical night when 2015 turned into 2016, but we weren’t sure if we’d ever have Cesar Caballero’s hard work to share with our global crew. Well, now we do and for that Cesar, we send many, many thank yous.

See, in May of 2014 Cesar and his partner Diana joined parenthood and as it is for all of us in that club, life’s never been the same. Music has been forced to take a back seat in Cesar’s life more since Dante was born than probably ever before. Nevertheless, Cesar Caballero’s passion and dedication to the craft have never wavered, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to finally have this portion of his NYE set to share with his fans.

Even on the night Cesar was in a high-pressure situation, with the little guy teething and Diana at home comforting Dante on her own. We know the feeling when you’ve put all your time and energy into something and it’s flipped on end, completely out of your control. But like a pro, Cesar showed up, rocked the room and slipped out to help take care of things at home.

Being a parent and a self-employed professional is a juggling act like no other, but if anyone can pull it off, it’s Cesar Caballero. With a new EP coming out on Union Jack Records and his second Toronto edition of the Groove Garden Sessions set to take place at TOiKA this week, you can tell Papa Cesar is finding his groove. Actually, you can hear in this chuggy, melodic and signature groovy portion of his NYE set, he was already well on his way to finding it over three months ago.

The name Miguel Rechy might be new to this site, but he’s supported the bringthebeats underground for many years and he’s certainly well known in and around his hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico. Miguel has a professional background in communications, which has helped him perform alongside a who’s who of underground and mainstream electronic talent. It’s also landed him a very fruitful corporate relationship with Redbull that has seen him play on some massive stages.

His accessible deep house sound has always been of great interest to us, especially throughout this time of year, as we reminisce over the amazing times we used to have at the Winter Music Conference in Miami. We’ve never been lucky enough to hear Miguel spin in a live environment, but through his Go Deep mix series, we know his style would be perfect poolside, beachside or on the yacht tops of Miami Music Week.

This month’s Plugged IN excusive is Miguel’s long-awaited bringthebeats debut and it’s everything we hoped for. His incredibly groovy selections, highlighted by some of the sexiest and soulful vocal samples you’ll ever hear, have the warm WMC memories saturating our minds. If we close our eyes, we can picture ourselves back on South Beach alongside the coolest people on earth, listening to the best music ever composed. It’s a beautiful feeling we have this sensationally talented Mexican to thank for.

Welcoming in the Spring Equinox, this is Guadalajara’s Miguel Rechy plugged into the bringthebeats underground…

In a sense, we have no choice—because we’re getting older and there’s no way to stop time—but we like to be labeled as the adult contemporary of electronic music. This is how we identify ourselves not just because of our age or time in the scene, even though they are factors. We’re adult contemporary because we’ve discovered musicians who continue to evolve and expand their taste and talent. The artists we support get better with age.

You’re not going to find cookie-cutter mixes on this site. The music in the bringthebeats underground is for the connoisseur, compiled by the connoisseur and one such authority is Argentina’s Hernan Cerbello. In 2008 Hernan made his bringthebeats debut for Lisa Sant’s In Demand series. He followed that up with a sensational Fresh Beats mix in 2010 and again in 2012, as one half of the DEE KEEPERS alongside fellow Argentine, Leo Donato. With each successive submission you hear his maturity and growth. Eight years down the line, evolution remains a key part of Hernan Cerbello’s game.

Hernan’s Plugged IN exclusive is all class and certainly contemporary. It’s a methodical trip with enchanting samples and sinister grooves. It’s quite the departure from those initial blazes he sent our way, but the high quality remains the same. Without a doubt, he’s our favourite Hernan in the underground. This is Hernan Cerbello plugged into the bringthebeats underground…

bringthebeats NYE 2016 with Luke Fair, Cesar Caballero and Craig Anderson was certainly the bringthebeats underground at it's finest. Big thanks to everyone who helped us take TOiKA to an entirely new level. We put more time and effort into this party than any other in our 13+ year history and it definitely paid off. From the decor to the lighting and of course the music, we were all hands on deck to create an experience nobody would ever forget. And thanks to the memories locked inside the pics and Luke's recorded set, we’ll never have to…

When you really love something, it’s hard to let it go. We absolutely loved the In Deep Sessions and it was damn hard to see it end in the spring of 2014. For 50 groovy, funky and absolutely fantastic episodes, In Deep We Trust treated us to one of the most consistently great series we’ve ever subscribed to. Every month was a guaranteed download. We listened to those mixes everywhere and all the time.

The end of In Deep Sessions created a huge void in our cue, but we knew Martin Harmony couldn’t have fallen too far out of love with house music. His connection to it was heard loud and clear throughout each session and like we said, it’s hard to let that go. So we called on his seed of passion, because if it still exists, there’s a chance we can get a mix. We planted the seed and crossed our fingers for an In Deep We Trust return.

It worked!! We successfully lured In Deep We Trust out of retirement for an incredibly cool Plugged IN exclusive. Filled with classic and fresh vibes, Martin’s slowed things down and kept the mood light; exactly what the groove doctor ordered for these long winter days that are anything but bright.

Thank the dance music gods he’s back warming our souls, this is Poland’s In Deep We Trust plugged into the bringthebeats underground…

This seems to be the first @lukefair promo mix ever recorded. Our friend and music guru Simon J passed it onto us (thanks dude), Luke didn’t even have a copy of his own. Luke believes it was an early attempt at the Bullitt Promo. It’s amazing that it was a throw away, because it sounds as fresh today as it would have almost fifteen years ago. Wow!!

Happy holidays to our crew around the globe!! However you celebrate—or if you even celebrate at all—we wish you the very best heading into 2016.

Just like everything around this time of year, sorting this instalment was a rush, but it was also a must. Leonardo Tou is one of the freshest artists in our underground and it’s been almost four years since we’ve shared one of his exclusives with our community. It was actually Adriana who pointed out how long overdo this mix is and when Adri makes a request, we have to deliver.

Adriana and the rest of our crew fell in love with Leo’s two sensational Fresh Beats mixes in 2010 and 2012. It’s no surprise we maintain such a strong connection to his music because he’s another one of our favourites hailing from the super stylish streets of Buenos Aires, so you can guarantee this Plugged IN set is saturated with our kind of soul. It’s also a little dubby, techy and absolutely sexy.

Whether you drop this classic vibe in your pre or after party, our little gift to all of you will fit perfectly in your holiday rotation. This is Argentina’s Leonardo Tou plugged into the bringthebeats underground…

An all-around entrepreneur in and out of the music scene, Felipe Callado is one of most approachable and generous people we’ve met in the industry. His INTIMATE & UNDERGROUND v3 appearance in 2009 is still remembered fondly by the Toronto faithful as having one of the warmest vibes we’ve ever hosted. Felipe’s selections from open to close were absolutely perfect. Few have rocked the TOiKA dance floor as well as Mr. Callado did that frigid February night.

Felipe’s EXZELLENZ brand shared some incredible mixes and hosted many memorable events in Joinville, Brazil; including a bringthebeats-inspired jam our crew had an absolute blast at in 2011. Today, Felipe’s focused on a new project, an online booking tool called Gigloop that connects artists, managers and promoters in the simplest and most efficient manner possible. If you’re making money in this scene, Gigloop is definitely something you need to check out.

Of course what we like to concentrate on in the bringthebeats underground are top-quality beats DJ’d progressively and that’s exactly what Felipe puts together in each one of his mixes. Groovy melodies, funky baselines and killer-cool samples are staples in Felipe’s sets and that’s what you’ll hear in this Plugged IN exclusive. This is Felipe Callado plugged into the bringthebeats underground…

Recently I was invited to compile a Source to Cycle podcast mix for Cadenza Records. A label I have long admired for their consistent and quality output of the house and techno sounds that have been pioneered by label owner and brilliant all-round DJ Luciano. Some of my esteemed peers from Doc Martin, Three and Sneak have contributed to this brilliant podcast series so this was a big honour and opportunity to showcase the current sounds I am enjoying at the moment with the Cycle mix.

Many know me first and foremost as a music mixer and selector. A DJ style which has always come from a pure place in my heart. But I realized that this purity alone might not be enough for me to sustain what I love doing and what makes me feel truly me. So after many years of advice from ex-agents/managers/esteemed peers, I realized something had to change.

For this mix I chose to deviate slightly away from just selecting the perfect record and focus also on my own material. As many know the past few years have been a slight change of direction and priority and that has been the continued development of my time in the studio. This has not been an easy road and by no means have there been any shortcuts along the way.

I learnt a lot both technically and spiritually from a host of talented music producers I still hold in high regard. Studying the nuances of each frequency and connection to the deeper soul to make music that can define me as a person does not happen overnight as many can testify. But it has and continues to be a wondrous journey nonetheless.

At the same time my DJ head also demands that I will not put my music on a mix for the sake of ‘benefiting’. It doesn’t become real for me and instead forged and manufactured; it is something I’ve seen a lot from afar with many in this scene I love. My music HAS to be up to par with those records I spend many an unsocial hour trawling and digging for. I can’t substitute this condition for anything or anyone. And it takes time once finished to feel comfortable to bare that soul a little in the public domain. Now is that time. What happens then is almost insignificant :)

I hope you enjoy this collection of music mixed and compiled that reflects all that makes me the DJ I am and continue to be. Fun, forward thinking, unpredictable, uncompromising but groovy and emotional. I thank once again both Nick Harris and Luciano for giving me this opportunity to showcase all this new music from myself, forthcoming Eyetone material and unreleased music from some truly outstanding producers.

Unfortunately due to syndicated conditions enforced, the last 15 mins of the mix has to be excluded on the original broadcast by Cadenza but they have kindly allowed me to upload this onto Soundcloud. Two tracks that were missing but were essential colours to the whole picture. Now for the first time available to enjoy online and offline.

The bringthebeats underground has always been about celebrating the art of DJing. It’s never been enough to just drop some good tracks in any random order and play it off as a DJ set. The best truly take you on a journey; obsess over every detail in every track and every transition. They’re always thinking three, four or even more selections ahead and know exactly when it’s time to unleash “the moment.”

This is how Brad Copeland has approached DJing ever since we met him as the Friday night resident at Stereo in Montreal and it’s how he builds his mixes for our community to this day. This Plugged IN exclusive is proof. No matter what Brad is up to, he’ll never stop being a really, really great DJ.

He’s one of the few reasons why we became a crew. This is the never-ending talent of Brad Copeland plugged into the bringthebeats underground…

We stay all in the family for this month’s Plugged IN exclusive. Craig Anderson is an integral spoke in the bringthebeats wheel. We simply could not keep this rolling without Craig’s support. It helps that he’s a seasoned DJ with excellent taste in music, and that’s why he opened Part 2 of the bringthebeats Summer Reunion 2015 alongside Luke Fair aboard the majestic Kajama.

This exclusive provides a little taste of the deep and sexy grooves Craig kicked the cruise off with. HUGE thanks to @maxizamac for sorting this @lukefair classic. We’ll let him provide the description…

“I had to join both parts in order to get it properly re-mastered and used a small crossfade at 55:59 when Part 2 kicks in. This is the original audio that was broadcasted on Metro Dance 95.1 FM (Argentina). The dynamics have been expanded and DB tweaked a bit to in order to improve the original audio file. There are a few glitches from the original broadcast but nothing to worry about.

For me it was an unforgettable night, as it was the first time I heard Luke perform live and he totally blew my mind off!! One of the best clubbing nights I’ve had in my life and one of Luke's best sets ever in my opinion. All the tracks are mind blowing and there are lots of Luke's own amazing edits and productions.” -- Maxi

In 2006 we had one of our most memorable clubbing experiences ever when we traveled with Luke Fair to Buenos Aires, Argentina to hear Luke play a mesmerizing five-hour set at the legendary Pacha. We met so many amazingly warm souls among the 3,000-plus packed into the pit that night, all of whom treated us as well as their house-music hero Luke. Maxi Zamac was one of those wonderful Argentineans we’ll forever feel connected to.

Since that life-altering party in Buenos Aires, Maxi’s been one of our most loyal supporters and an unrelenting enthusiast of progressive DJing in general. As a DJ he’s grown into one of our absolute favourites, championing the deep and groovy sounds we’ve always promoted passionately. We’ve wanted his bringthebeats debut to be a perfect one, at the perfect time, and finally that time has come!

Maxi is the first btb debut for the Plugged IN series and we’re incredibly honoured to have such a phenomenal person and talent join the bringthebeats family. Straight from the oasis we call Buenos Aires, Argentina, this is the ever-inspiring Maxi Zamac plugged into the bringthebeats underground…

This was an excellent way to start off our guest appearances for EXPOSED. Despite some untimely bad weather The Mod Club dance floor was busy all night and the vibe was really fresh and full of energy. Jeff Button played a fantastic deep Progressive opener. He’s not afraid to play the warm-up role and properly set the tone for the headliners to come. We all really appreciate this patience and love hearing this dude’s overall DJ skills develop.

Brad Copeland stepped up earlier than intended and was forced to jump right off a plane and directly into the booth, something that’s never easy to do. Brad pulled it off like a complete professional and totally got the floor moving. All summer long he’s been blazing dance floors and this night was absolutely no different.

With a big commercial party going on at TIL and solid bookings at both Footwork and Revival just across the street, we knew we were facing a lot of challenges leading up to this night.

But its quality, not necessarily quantity that’s important and for this event we couldn’t have asked for a better group of people on the dance floor. And thankfully, the one thing we do have under our control, came through as always… absolutely fantastic underground house music.

It had been two months since Brad Copeland‘s last EXPOSED appearance – two months waaaaay to long. He assumed the warm up duties for the first time at EXPOSED, a position in which our crew fell in love with him during the progressive glory days of Fridays at Stereo in Montreal. Though he’s moved on to become a world class headliner since then, he definitely hasn’t lost his touch in the set-up role.

Brad finds a way to combine pace with deep selections, warming the floor like only a few can. I’ve never met a DJ who didn’t appreciate the way Brad handed off the decks, and this event was no different. The entire floor was moving and in great spirits as he wrapped up. Naveen couldn’t have asked for a better vibe to be left with.

If there was one guy that could brave the Canadian cold and put on a show despite a blizzard, NYE hangover or any other January blahs excuse, it’s Eli Wilkie. And of course B.C. is always the perfect wingman. These two complete madmen put on a show for the EXPOSED hardcore with some kick ass comedy house.

It was a pretty interesting mix of people on the floor for this event. Many thanks to the bringthebeats following that came out to support. Our promotions group and of course our good friends Eli and Brad Copeland definitely appreciated the kick ass energy you all brought to the night.

I’d say the craziest aspect of the party had to be the girl on stage left. People on the stage have been a dilemma throughout our first six months, and to tell you the truth, we’d rather people not be up near the booth.

But this girl, who I’m sure you can all point out in the pics, was so over the top that we had to let her continue to do her thing. I’ll leave it at that because you really had to be there to believe what she was up to, but I will give her props for some absolutely uninhibited, funky ass moves.

Brad played a more up tempo opener than his December gig with Naveen G. He’s just so freaking versatile. Brad can play in any roll, across so many genres and make it flow like no other. Dude is awesome, no question.

In many senses, Eli was the night. His relentless enthusiasm and appreciation for being behind the decks was super satisfying for our team. He rocked it out especially hard for the EXPOSED faithful, but maintained his signature, light-hearted sound. Eli has serious skills, but his sets are far from that. How injected pure fun into the night was most refreshing for us.

Our headliners NYC’s HOLOSOUND (Alex Fish and Noah Becker) had one hell of a trip to get Toronto. A three hour delay inside JFK and almost another two on the runway waiting to take off had the duo a little on edge as they made their way into the city. However, as soon as they walked into The Mod Club and took in the very comfortable EXPOSED atmosphere, they settled in and proceeded to drop the trademark ‘Illectro’ we’ve waited two years to hear live.

The set was a hybrid of all things House, Electro and Progressive; there were even some melodic Trance-like segments. It was definitely a much different composition than we’ve been hearing in Toronto clubs in recent months. I love the confidence they have in their selections; Alex and Noah’s enthusiasm behind the decks is proof to how comfortable they are when rocking the big room. We couldn’t have asked for a better premiere guest appearance.

Fresh off some really cool gigs in South America, Naveen G made his first trip north and most definitely didn’t disappoint. Aware that there was a large bringthebeats crew on the floor, he started off on a housier tip which totally pleased the btb faithful. His selections showcased the highs and mids, a stark contrast from the bass heavy beats that have dominated the past few EXPOSED events.

Naveen literally bobbed and weaved through the entire progressive house genre with many unexpected turns and many, many uplifting moments. As a friend pointed out on the floor, you can tell he’s an intelligent person, as he’s extremely systematic at the decks. Like a surgeon of sorts, oh yeah he is a MD, go figure! It really was incredible to see and hear someone who understands the music and the importance of ‘playing it all’ while maintaining a flow.

Though I wish we could have brought more people to the club to experience the overwhelming talent of this totally wicked dude, Naveen himself made this a night to remember. And in the end, that’s really what it’s all about; letting the DJ set the pace, establish the vibe and the rest of us just jump in and enjoy the ride.

It’s been one year too long since we’ve heard Cesar’s handpicked selections from the Groove Garden in the live environment, but thankfully he’s kept us in his groove with regularly released promo sets. We’re so pumped to host his most recent online masterpiece, this Plugged IN exclusive. It’s an elegant journey of emotion that distinctively defines our Colombian brother as much more than a DJ, Cesar’s a master musician.

Signature sooth and ever soulful, this is Cesar Caballero plugged into the bringthebeats underground…

This never-before-released DJ set was our first-ever Hybrid experience. It was Hybrid’s first Breathe appearance following a live performance earlier in 2002 that had our entire crew raving about this group’s savagery. It was unfortunate we couldn’t be on the dance floor for their live spectacle, but this was an amazing introduction to a System Soundbar staple and one of the greatest acts in progressive dance music history.

Thanks to Mike Greco and Angelina Musicco for making this legendary set available to the bringthebeats underground.

If we could clone any one DJ, it might be Kosmas Epsilon.

Kosmas is the absolute triple threat. His productions are world class and have been recognized as so by almost all the top artists within the progressive style. His promo mix archive is out of this world, with well over 100 of the most eclectic digital compilations you’ll hear anywhere on the inter web. And his live DJ performances are absolutely exhilarating and on par with any of the top jocks in the underground.

He’s humble, hard working and over-the-top talented, as you’ll hear in this Plugged IN exclusive. We’re super excited and honoured to have one of our GROOVE CREW, Kosmas plugged into the bringthebeats underground…

I’m sure you know by now that we love South American sounds. Just like there are undiscovered species in the Amazon, there are many undiscovered DJs and producers from our Latin lands. So if you haven’t already heard of Argentina’s Hernan Cerbello, then it’s time you discover his talent.

After deciding five years ago to make music his profession, Hernan has been very busy. With regular gigs at some of Latin America’s best clubs and productions steadily streaming out of his studio, Hernan is continually spreading the sounds we love so much. With his first compilation CD to be released this month on Baroque Records I’m sure we will be hearing even more from Hernan very soon.

But of course you don’t have to wait to hear one of his mixes; Hernan has prepared a fresh In Demand for bringthebeats. This is the first studio mix I have heard from Hernan and I am very impressed. It takes off almost instantly and continues with a very smooth beat full of every genre your ears desire, including a fantastic track from Kosmas Epsilon & Somnus Corp. -- Lisa

If you are curious about the best places to party in Brazil and Argentina, the downsides to a country with so much talent or you just want to know more about Hernan Cerbello...

My life is filled with many ups and downs right now. As I get on I find it difficult not to be moody. I’m sure this can be chalked up to many ‘growing up’ variables, but I know for sure the club scene is one of them. I’ve become the industry leper for not digging dark techno and commercial electro. Just the other day I told a friend I thought John Digweed’s Essential Mix was too much for me and his response was; “I wish you liked good music.”

I’m sorry but I just don’t get it anymore. I’ve been on the dance floor for Marco Corola, but that was 10 years ago and I was super jacked up. Now that I need to use my energy wisely, I hope to do it up with my head on straight. With all my senses intact, the relentlessness, aggressiveness and darkness of that Essential Mix does nothing but put me in a negative space.

I like to think I’ve evolved as a person (I probably think too much) and as a lover of house music first and foremost – a partier a very distant second – I’m hoping to find music that has progressed along with my tastes. In a mainstream sense it bothers me to hear people say they hate Madonna or U2 for updating their sound. These cougars would rather press repeat on the cookie cutter tracks of the Stones than hear Bono blaze a tight melody over an electronic groove.

I see the same in the Toronto club scene. Most of this city’s clubbers are content with the monotony of the Amigos week in and week out; the same tracks at the same pace with the same vibe each and every time. And what really swings my mood in the wrong direction is that great DJs like Brad are left with nowhere to play because Toronto dance floors are impatiently yearning for ‘The Hits’ or ‘Banging Dirty Beats’ and that’s definitely not what he’s in this game for.

Brad knows what it takes to make the fair-weathered dance; notes are not required. We know he could play the game better than the best of them, but what does that do for upfront music in this city? Nothing. So thank God for DJs like him and true underground promotions like Platform and Fabricated for doing what they can to preserve the forward thinking nature of EDM in Toronto.

With this encore bringthebeats mix (we loved his April promo so much we had to ask for more) Brad displays his unwavering commitment to fresh cuts and unpredictable programming. There’s absolutely nothing obvious about this music. Brad shows the majority how cool tech can be, with pace and funk, while maintaining his signature silky smooth transitions and impeccable mixing.

Another A-level offering from one of Canada’s all-time greats; somehow we gotta get this music back in the big clubs.
