Dates of deen podcast is intended for Muslim youth (or anyone who relates) to find healing content for the contemporary issues that we face trying to maintain our deen in today's world. The emphasis of this podcast is about contemporary society, maintaing our spiritual soundness upon the straight path, what it means to be human, and doing the healing and purifying work necessary upon this journey. I remind myself first before anyone else.
Trauma is something that affects so many people, and specifically our communities suffer from it a lot. Be it by the places we come from, displacements, growing up with identity issues, PTSD, struggling parents, bullying, or any of the sort, trauma happens to the best of us.
In this episode, I lead us both on a reflection of trauma being at odds with our striving towards good character and sabr. How difficult it can be to manage the two, and how long term chronic trauma gives a new dimension of battling with maintaining good character and sabr in times of hardship, when your body just wants to act out of its rage.
May Allah grant our communities healing.

In this episode we dive into the importance of boundaries, and how difficult this concept can be for us diaspora and first-gens but how vital and even, Islamic it is to maintain the dignity of yourself and others.
Islam is firmly against racism, we know that. But obviously so not every Muslim puts this clear cut moralistic standpoint into practice, resulting in racist attitudes and discord in our communities.
Racism is inherently a spiritual illness. Only diseased hearts uphold this level of arrogance. We hope and dream that it will end as the older generations begin to pass, but the reality is that this is simply not true. Cultures, biases, these all go unchecked for generations, resulting in new generations not doing any of the work to unlearn and fight against injustice.
Dates of deen hopes to inshaAllah, call this out, and shed light on this pressing issue, and aims to do so by looking at it from a holistic, Islamic, and universal lens. This episode will aim to bring to reality and to light the nationalism, tribalism, racism, discrimination, etc. in our communities and how these things disproportionately affect our Black Muslim brothers and sisters especially.
Whether intentionally or unintentionally, every being worships. Every being serves someone or something.For some, it’s money, fame, career, attractiveness, materialism.For others, it could be their varying definitions of God, a vague higher power, “the universe”, idols, deities, their emotions, their intuitions, pleasure, or joy.And for Muslims it is clear: The One. The Eternal. Allah.In this episode I intend to speak about the growing phenomenon of today’s spirituality (astrology, psychic mediums, tarot cards, crystals, seeking joy, manifestation, etc.) and how most of it, at its crux, is merely hedonism and self-worship being passed off as intentional work in servitude to a Higher Purpose.In contrast to to Islam’s definition of being in submission/service to Allah and what Our Creator tells us our purpose is.

Every young Muslim in the west has thought at least once: what's so bad about dating? How will I find my boo if I can't get to know him/her for a few years? Where's the harm in that!?

Dates of deen also aims to clarify to the youth in a way that’s palpable and empathetic to the current standards around us, the protection in this approach rather than the western normalized approach of dating.
I know that I was highly confused about it when I was a teenager because no one properly explained it to me and I know a lot of youth are confused by it and wind up going in the western dating direction.
Hijab is an obligation in Islam for both men and women. Unfortunately, society tends to only focus on women's obligation. In this episode, dates of deen explains the basics of the meanings of hijab as well as its deeper meaning, clearing up misconceptions, and encouraging brothers and sisters to start practicing hijab with sincerity in intention and love for Allah SWT.
