1 Kings 18:20-40 - 36 And at the time of the offering of the oblation, Elijah the prophet came near and said, “O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word. 37 Answer me, O Lord, answer me, that this people may know that you, O Lord, are God, and that you have turned their hearts back.” 38 Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. 39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and said, “The Lord, he is God; the Lord, he is God.” 40 And Elijah said to them, “Seize the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape.” And they seized them. And Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon and slaughtered them there.
1 Kings 18:1-19 - 1 After many days the word of the Lord came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, “Go, show yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain upon the earth.” 2 So Elijah went to show himself to Ahab. Now the famine was severe in Samaria. 3 And Ahab called Obadiah, who was over the household. (Now Obadiah feared the Lord greatly, 4 and when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the Lord, Obadiah took a hundred prophets and hid them by fifties in a cave and fed them with bread and water.) 5 And Ahab said to Obadiah, “Go through the land to all the springs of water and to all the valleys. Perhaps we may find grass and save the horses and mules alive, and not lose some of the animals.” 6 So they divided the land between them to pass through it. Ahab went in one direction by himself, and Obadiah went in another direction by himself. 7 And as Obadiah was on the way, behold, Elijah met him. And Obadiah recognized him and fell on his face and said, “Is it you, my lord Elijah?” 8 And he answered him, “It is I. Go, tell your lord, ‘Behold, Elijah is here.’” 9 And he said, “How have I sinned, that you would give your servant into the hand of Ahab, to kill me? 10 As the Lord your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my lord has not sent to seek you. And when they would say, ‘He is not here,’ he would take an oath of the kingdom or nation, that they had not found you. 11 And now you say, ‘Go, tell your lord, “Behold, Elijah is here.”’ 12 And as soon as I have gone from you, the Spirit of the Lord will carry you I know not where. And so, when I come and tell Ahab and he cannot find you, he will kill me, although I your servant have feared the Lord from my youth. 13 Has it not been told my lord what I did when Jezebel killed the prophets of the Lord, how I hid a hundred men of the Lord's prophets by fifties in a cave and fed them with bread and water? 14 And now you say, ‘Go, tell your lord, “Behold, Elijah is here”’; and he will kill me.” 15 And Elijah said, “As the Lord of hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today.” 16 So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him. And Ahab went to meet Elijah. 17 When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, “Is it you, you troubler of Israel?” 18 And he answered, “I have not troubled Israel, but you have, and your father's house, because you have abandoned the commandments of the Lord and followed the Baals. 19 Now therefore send and gather all Israel to me at Mount Carmel, and the 450 prophets of Baal and the 400 prophets of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel's table.”
1 Kings 17:17-24:17 After this the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became ill. And his illness was so severe that there was no breath left in him. 18 And she said to Elijah, “What have you against me, O man of God? You have come to me to bring my sin to remembrance and to cause the death of my son!” 19 And he said to her, “Give me your son.” And he took him from her arms and carried him up into the upper chamber where he lodged, and laid him on his own bed. 20 And he cried to the Lord, “O Lord my God, have you brought calamity even upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by killing her son?” 21 Then he stretched himself upon the child three times and cried to the Lord, “O Lord my God, let this child's life come into him again.” 22 And the Lord listened to the voice of Elijah. And the life of the child came into him again, and he revived. 23 And Elijah took the child and brought him down from the upper chamber into the house and delivered him to his mother. And Elijah said, “See, your son lives.” 24 And the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is truth.”
1 Kings 17:8-16 - 8 Then the word of the Lord came to him, 9 “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to feed you.” 10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Bring me a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.” 11 And as she was going to bring it, he called to her and said, “Bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.” 12 And she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. And now I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it and die.” 13 And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said. But first make me a little cake of it and bring it to me, and afterward make something for yourself and your son. 14 For thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘The jar of flour shall not be spent, and the jug of oil shall not be empty, until the day that the Lord sends rain upon the earth.’” 15 And she went and did as Elijah said. And she and he and her household ate for many days. 16 The jar of flour was not spent, neither did the jug of oil become empty, according to the word of the Lord that he spoke by Elijah.
1 Kings 17:1-7 - 1 Now Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.” 2 And the word of the Lord came to him: 3 “Depart from here and turn eastward and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. 4 You shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.” 5 So he went and did according to the word of the Lord. He went and lived by the brook Cherith that is east of the Jordan. 6 And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook. 7 And after a while the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.
Life is full of peaks and valleys. The book of 1 Kings is no exception. Its a book filled with lives of men and women who experienced highs and lows. One of those men, was the prophet Elijah…this is his story. We begin our study with a look at the Bible’s account leading up to 1 Kings 17 and the prophet Elijah. We explore the nation of Israel and the kings that lead that nation away from the heart of God.

Why should we go? What does it mean to go?

Matthew 6:12 - and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
Matthew 6:14-15 - For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 6:11. How? Who? What? does it mean to ask God for our needs? We explore this and more in this weeks message.
Matthew 6:10. Jesus teaches His disciples that prayer is about seeking the Father's kingdom and will.

Matthew 6:5-8. As we begin our series on Pray we look at the warnings Jesus gave His disciples as to how NOT to pray. We learn a lot about the heart of prayer and our God by looking at the wrong ways we pray.
Matthew 5:13-16. As we conclude our profile of the follower of Jesus (the Beatitudes), we look at what the man or woman who has put on all of this together looks like - salt and light.
Matthew 5:10-12. Do we live our lives in such a way that would bring persecution? That is the topic we cover in this weeks sermon.
Matthew 5:9. What does a peacemaker do and how do we become one? Join us this week as we discuss how we reflect God’s reconciliation of peace between God and man to our world.
Matthew 5:8. What does it mean to be pure in heart? Is this a medieval concept or something we can actually attain? Join us as we discuss how to live with an un-mixed heart.

Matthew 5:5. What does Meek mean? Its a phase we do not use often today. Its more related to gentleness than most other definitions. What does it mean to have power under control?
Matthew 5:4. This week we look at the Beatitude of blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.
Matthew 5:3. This week we discuss the meaning of poor in spirit and how those who are spiritually bankrupt are the ones who will get into the Kingdom
Matthew 5:1-2. We begin a new series #blessed. In this series, we discuss what Jesus of Nazareth mean when He gave the beatitudes and pronounced these "blessings." This week we discuss the introduction to the sermon on the mount and close with a discussion on what this word "blessing" mean in Jesus' context.
Romans 8:30-39. This Easter Sunday we celebrate the Fact that God Is For Us because of Jesus, His death, resurrection, ascension, and intercession.
Romans 8:26-30. We explore a passage in which Paul lays our how the Spirit helps us in our weakness. The two way we explore this week are in prayer (26-27) and faith (28-30).
Romans 8:18-25. This week we explore Paul’s comparison of the “Already” with “Not Yet” as it relates to our future glory. We learn that HOPE become the bridge between our current suffering, bondage, and waiting to the future glory, freedom and adoption we so eagerly desire.
Romans 8:12-17. Paul lays our 4 Characteristics of the man or woman who is spirit-filled: radical holiness, fearless freedom, relationally connected to Our Father, confident in our future.
Join us in our 2nd week in our series, Life In The Spirit, as we look at Romans 8:5-11. This week we dive further into the idea of walking in the Spirit. We look at the internal aspect and the Spirit’s Role. Please join us on Sundays!

Join us for the final week of our Foundations series. We explore Ezra 9 and 10 and discover what it takes to move forward from sin. Moving Forward takes Confession, Repentance, and Separation.
This week we look at Ezra Chapter 7 and 8. We discover that Ezra the priest and scribe committed to the Word of God and Prayer and Fasting. We are challenged to do the same.
Join us this week as we look at what happens when we fear God (from last week) and obey: God brings a restored hope, dedication and worship. We will be in Ezra 6:13-22.
Just us this week as we look at how the Fear of God drives us to be courageous, truthful and ultimately bring about God's plan. We explore Ezra 5:3-6:12 this week.
This week we look at Ezra Chapter 4 and the opposition that came against the Israelites. The adversaries brought deception, discouragement, frustration, accusation, and force. We explore the response of turning inward and focusing on their own “needs.” Finally we look at how they should have responded (5:1-2) God is SPEAKING, God is OVER you and God is FOR you.
Ezra 3 discusses the Israelites starting the work. Step 1: re-establish worship. Step 2: take ownership. If you are going to rebuild your foundation it will take intentional effort, sacrifice, and accountability. Join us as we explore this text together.
Join us this week as we explore Ezra 2. We will discover what it meant to be an exile - one who was home but not home. We discuss the exile's thinking in this world as to whether we SUBMIT or STAND. Finally we wrap up looking at the need for community and a reminder of the Gospel as pivotal necessities for the exile to survive in this world.
This week we look at Ezra Chapter 1. We look at 3 foundational truths about God from this chapter. #1 God Always Keeps His Promises According To His Will. #2 God Uses Whomever or Whatever He Chooses To Accomplish His Will. #3 God Moves In Us To Be Obedient To His Will.
