Sometimes it’s hard to see the significance in the plan God has for you. It’s easy to feel insignificant when you can’t find the purpose in your life. Some things in life are worth going back and taking another look. It’s time to go back and “look again” at the thing you’ve deemed insignificant.
How far can desperation take you? We have some amazing Biblical examples from Mark chapter 5 of how far it can take 2 individuals. When you're motivated from a place of desperation, incredible things can happen. How do we live desperate for the things of the Kingdom on a daily basis and leverage Kingdom realities into our world today? Let's dive in.
The man possessed with a legion of demons has one encounter with Jesus that so radically changed him...it also prepared an entire region for Jesus. Jesus, and His disciples, sailed across the Sea of Galilee, endured and calmed the storm, because Jesus was on mission to find this one man. The potential inside this one individual was greater than perhaps anybody thought. The devil knew this and stacked the deck against him...but Jesus wasn't letting that happen.
There is so much that takes place in an unseen realm. There are bigger things happening all around us that do not appear big to the naked eye. In fact, much of the time, they appear rather small...much like the beginnings of Christianity. If we can learn to recognize and honor the small beginnings of things, I think we'll find ourselves positioned for some remarkable BIG things happening, right in our midst.
Jesus was in an entirely different state of being in the middle of the storm than the disciples. He was completely at peace and at rest. They were freaking out...losing their minds. Perhaps His state of being is an invitation to transform ours. Where He's at...isn't just where we should be...but a means of how to get there. Let's dive into this incredible invitation to truly "altar/alter" our state of being.
Joel takes us into an incredible passage of Scripture with some FOR TODAY implications. Jesus, in a monumental moment asking His disciples to stay awake, to watch and pray with Him has much to say to us here, towards the end of 2020. What's He saying specifically to you?
What is the purpose of the light that we carry? Are we stewarding well the Kingdom seeds landing on our soil and are we being responsible over the light that we carry...or worse yet are we hiding it? Continuing in our journey through the book of Mark, Pastor Josiah takes us into some wonderful moments Jesus had in a particular place. Furthermore what that means for us today is breathtaking. Jesus' great intention was to get the life-transforming message into the people's hearts. But, through obedience to the Father, He prepares their hearts to make sure it sticks by a miraculous adhesive. This was not random happenstance. This was divine wisdom and strategy from Heaven...and it still works today.
Jesus steps into a synagogue and calls forward a man with a deformed, withered hand. But He doesn't just minister to the man, He also creates a powerful object lesson for the critically watching religious leaders that were there. They were looking at Jesus, just with all the wrong intentions. Are you willing to step forward when Jesus says come? What if He asks you to do something you know you can't do? Take the risk. Take steps of faith. Watch Jesus without any stones of accusations on your pockets...watch Him to learn how to live!
Are you the dominant influence when you're around people? If not, you'll always have to be careful who you're around. Jesus hung around people He knew He was influencing into the Kingdom. Pastor Josiah also takes us into some context concerning remaining pliable, ready for new wine and some thoughts concerning the Sabbath and the year of Jubilee - which Jesus changed at the Cross.
There's a connection between physical affliction and sin. Both in the old and new testaments it's covered. Jesus addresses it directly at the beginning of Mark chapter 2. Knowing who you are in Him is extremely important. Cimba, from Disney's The Lion King, forgot who he was and had no desire to fulfill his destiny to be king. It took Rafiki to help wake him up to who he really is. Perhaps the Holy Spirit of God is trying to wake you and I up to who we really are in Christ. Discover who you are, and fulfill what He's called you to become!
Before Jesus had even gone to the Cross, He told the Father that He had completed the work that He had called Him to do. What did he complete? He completed making disciples. Image Bearers to take His image to the earth and replicate Who He is in the earth. We're called to be disciples of intimacy who make disciples of intimacy. Reproducing who we are, not just what we teach to the world around us.
Spiritual disciplines set us up for great success. The source of all consistency...the Faithful One is Jesus, The Christ. Taking our cues from His consistency and spiritual disciplines will set every Believer up for incredible encounters with Him.
Our most dominate thoughts dictate our attitude which dictates our actions. So much begins in our minds. We have the mind of Christ...yet we so often choose to think carnally. Something's got to shift in our thinking if we're ever to be all He says we can be and all He's commissioned us to do. The Holy Spirit of God is here to instruct us how to do this! By yielding to Him in our thinking.
The Spirit gives life!! Why in the world do we walk around so defeated or so focused on ourselves when the truth is....HE GIVES LIFE!!!! We need a fresh yieldedness to the Spirit of God within us bringing NEW LIFE to the Believer willing to feed the Spirit and not the flesh.

This led to trouble that continued on and on, David sought to kill what Saul was willing to tolerate. Jesus is the answer the world is looking for, they just don't know it's Him, nor do they know where to look...but they know where to find you...What will they find when they find you?
The hurting are attracted to BeLOVEd Identity. Those who walk in this identity are always holding their arms wide open to welcome anybody to draw nearer, even if they're broken or hurting. Who we follow matters. Refusing to allow fear to paralyze us but rather choosing to honor our fathers will shield us from the onslaught of the enemy and set us up for lasting presence-driven success in the loving embrace of the Father!
The things the enemy has been using to attack you, can be the very thing God uses to shove back in his face.
