Shaila Dewan is national reporter and editor for the New York Times. She covers criminal justice issues, including prosecution, policing, and incarceration.
She spoke with Portia Ballard Espy, the Winter Institute's executive director, about the current climate of policing and movements for police reform in the years since the police killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson MO and most recently in the wake of the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis MN.

Dr. Dominika Parry is president and CEO of 2C Mississippi, a non-profit organization that seeks "a climate-kind, educated and prosperous Mississippi." Dr. Parry is an environmental economist who is professionally and personally passionate about climate change. She's a native a Poland and received her Ph.D. from Yale University. She and her family now call Mississippi home.
She spoke with Von Gordon from the William Winter Institute, about climate change, the need for bipartisan science-based discussion of the climate and her belief that a sustainable community will also encourage business and investment.

In the second episode of The Guidepost, Jake McGraw speaks with Dr. John Green, a professor of sociology at the University of Mississippi and the director for the Center of Population Studies. He also serves as the vice-chair of Mississippi's Complete Count Committee, which is spearheading the campaign to make sure every Mississippian is counted in the 2020 census.
