In this first episode of Echo, I introduce the Backward Design Framework that suggests teachers should start with the end in mind: What do you want students to know and/or be able to do by the end of the course? From there, assessments are created to meet the outcomes, and then the instructional planning takes place.

In less than 10 minutes, this podcasts provides an overview of Backward Design, Bloom's Taxonomy, how to use Bloom's to write measurable outcomes, and how to vary both assessments and instructional strategies to meet the needs of your learners. This is just the start!

Each week, I will focus on a different aspect of best teaching and learning practices. And note that resources and materials to support each podcast are available in the Faculty Support Canvas course (this is for MICA/MPS Faculty only).

Remember this is my first attempt at this, so please be patient with my new podcasting skills, and keep in mind that podcasting might be another tool for your own teaching....so don't be afraid to try it.

In the meantime, I hope Echo will provide you some support, inspiration, and a time to reflect.
