TAGS, the segment is: "CatPhished -- How to Spot AI and Phishing Scams" through a press briefing hosted by Ethnic Media Services and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
This second of three briefings for EMS with the Federal Trade Commission will scope out some of the newest ways scammers are using email and text messages to try to get you to pay them or steal your passwords, account numbers or Social Security numbers -- called "phishing."
Once they get that information, they can get access to your email, bank or other accounts -- or sell your information to other scammers. Scammers launch millions of phishing attacks like these every day -- and they're often successful.
Tapping into new and evolving technology, they also use AI to catfish people into a family emergency situation by cloning a family member's voice. People think they recognize the cry for help and turn over their money to complete strangers. The best defense is to spread the word about phishing so your audiences don't get fooled.

Through a briefing hosted by Ethnic Media Services and the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence, this segment of TAGS is titled: "When Teen Dating Turns Violent & How to Stop it --Youth Survivors & Activists Share Perspectives."
One in three youth in the US experience teen dating violence. The consequences can be long lasting and severe. Schools have sex education classes, but not many teach about how to have healthy relationships, let alone how to set boundaries and end unhealthy ones. Parents in many cases consider discussing romantic relationships or intimacy taboo. Today's speakers -- between the ages of 15 and 19 -- are survivors of intimate violence and/or committed to preventing it through educating peers and parents alike. Members of the Partnership's Youth Advisory Committee, they reflect a growing network of teen activists working on prevention initiatives with local domestic violence programs.
Panelist include: Megan Tanahashi, Communications Director, California Partnership to End Domestic Violence; Maya Henry, youth speaker; Ana Campos, youth speaker; Armaan Sharma, youth speaker; Kandee Lewis, Executive Director, Positive Results Center, Civil and Human Rights Commission, City of Los Angeles.Stay TUNED as you Tune IN for an intellectual Tune UP! This segment of TAGS is: "Exploring Outer Space - Why We Do it, What We Learn ,” through a briefing hosted by Ethnic Media Services.
The James Webb Telescope recently brought us new images of old stars and constellations, filling our minds with wonder. Looking at one of the most impactful of those photographs, one of our panelists wrote:
“The endless richness of the deep field image, jam-packed with stars and galaxies, covering a tiny patch of sky, tells the history of the universe.”
The images also filled us with questions. Is there other life in the universe? What kind? What do other planets look like? Will we take regular trips to the Moon and Mars in the future?
All of those questions are being explored right now by several countries, including the United States, that have been investing in different projects and technologies that help us look beyond our own planet.
One bigger question is: Can space exploration, in all its facets, help humanity discover the answer to essential questions, including finding the keys to our survival on earth?
To explore those issues, Panelist include: Alexandra de Castro, Science and Technology Communicator, PASQAL; Marcio Melendez, Principal Astronomical Optics Scientist, Space Telescope Science Institute (STScl), Baltimore, Maryland; Nicole Arulanantham, Giacconi Postdoctoral Fellow, Space Telescope Science Institute (STScl), Baltimore, Maryland.

The Alvin Galloway Show, (TAGS), 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., on listen2krdp.com. This segment of TAGS is: "Labor Shortages Fuel Inflation – Why U.S. Economic Growth Needs More Immigrants,” through a briefing hosted by Ethnic Media Services.
A number of economists, demographers and other experts are sounding the alarm: the country needs immigrants – from meat packing to home building to STEM professionals to nurses – to keep pace with the job-creating post-pandemic economy and long-term economic growth. While public discussion focuses on the estimated 2 million border crossings for the fiscal year – not the same as 2 million people – the economists are focusing on the fact that about 10 to 15% of job openings that typically employ immigrant or foreign-born workers, are still vacant.
And yet, the legal immigration system is in dire straits, there’s a monstrous backlog of green cards, generations of people are waiting for legalization, the asylum system is virtually paralyzed and there’s absolutely no appetite in Congress – mostly on one side – to ease restrictions for even the most popular of legal immigrants. Dreamers and STEM PhDs come to mind.
Speakers will explain what’s at stake and why the policy stalemates on immigration can damage the economic recovery and long-term economic health of the USA.
Panelist include: Giovanni Peri, PhD. Professor of Economics at the University of California, Davis, Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and the Founder and Director of the UC Davis Global Migration Center; Julie Collins, CCP, LP, MS Program Director Department of Cardiopulmonary Sciences, College of Health Sciences; Gregory Z. The Magnolia State has a special place in my heart, because it is where my parents were born and raised and my siblings and I spent many summers during our childhood.
Mississippi's GOP dominated legislature secured gerrymandered maps that severely undercut the voting power of the state's growing communities of color. But advocates have shifted their sights to local targets like the Harrison County School District and the Gulfport City Council. And they're scoring small but significant victories. "We're anything but a lost cause," says Nsombi Lambright of Unite One Voice. Mississippi mirrors similar efforts by activists across the South.

COVID-19 cases, deaths, and hospitalizations are still prevalent in the United States, according to July 22 data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. More than 2/3 of Americans have tested positive for COVID. This may represent an under-count: more and more people are reporting that their at-home tests are coming back negative even when they are exhibiting clear symptoms of COVID-19. The BA5 subvariant of Omicron is responsible for 78 percent of infections in the US. Is BA5 more transmissible? Is it harder to detect in home-testing kits? Are symptoms of BA5 more severe? How have a mere handful of Americans dodged infection? And is BA2.75 the next threat? Join us for a robust panel discussion with three acclaimed subject matter experts. We will reserve 30 minutes of this week's briefing for Q/A. Reporters, please come armed with lots of questions.

Speakers from the frontlines in each city will address the strategies they used and whether they're replicable.

As a mostly volunteer organization, it trains mentors to create a safe place where boys 12- 18 can be authentic and discover their truth. Boys to Men is an independent 501c3 affiliated with Boys to Men USA. The work began in San Diego 25 years ago and continues to follow the tradition that it is the community’s adults who are responsible for guiding the next generation.
Murphy began volunteering as a youth mentor in 2008 and eventually founded Boys to Men of Greater Phoenix, established as a 501c3 nonprofit in 2015. He left his 30-year sales career with Stanley Tools and LG in 2018 to commit a full time focus of ensuring boys got support on their journey to healthy manhood.
He has been active as a facilitator and participant in Men’s Group Work with The ManKind Project since 2005. As a Phoenix resident and 3rd generation Arizona native, Steve earned his BS degree in Marketing from Arizona State University. He is a father of 4 and grandfather to 7.

TAG'S guest is Martha Redbone is a Native and African-American vocalist, songwriter, composer, educator.
This 5-2-22 ENCORE BROADCAST was first aired in 2018, prior to Redbone's concert at the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) in Phoenix.
Listen in as we discuss her life's journey; upbringing, musical influences and and more.
Redbone is known for her unique gumbo of folk, blues and gospel from her childhood in Harlan County, Kentucky infused with the eclectic grit of pre-gentrified Brooklyn. Inheriting the powerful vocal range of her gospel-singing African American father and the resilient spirit of her mother’s Cherokee/Shawnee/Choctaw culture, Redbone broadens the boundaries of American Roots music. With songs and storytelling that share her life experience as a Native and Black woman and mother in the new millennium, Redbone gives voice to issues of social justice, bridging traditions from past to present, connecting cultures, and celebrating the human spirit.
Redbone’s recent work has been predominantly in Theater. Redbone is the Composer of Original Music and Score for the 2019 revival “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf”, choreopoem by the late Ntozake Shange, where Redbone honors the author’s 1976 classic by intertwining her original compositions celebrating the music of the African American diaspora with the beautiful choreography of Tony Award-nominee Camille A. Brown at the Public Theater, NYC. Redbone is currently in development with her own new work “Black Mountain Women” at The Public Theater.
It is a timely musical about the ongoing environmental destruction of her ancestral homeland in Appalachia told through the lives of 4 generations of women in her matriarchal Cherokee family.

Her involvement with ACESDV (Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence) has helped her to better understand how domestic violence impacts many people and how laws and policies are created to either support or detract from the mission of liberating victims. From policy creation and legal advocacy to raising awareness, Beatty’s desire is to help those who have been silenced by abuse to find their voice and strength within to unshackle the invisible chains and walk in their freedom and rights.

The Pima County Attorney's Office provided a pre-sentence program in which individuals arrested/cited on charges of DV under ARS: 13-3601, were required to contact the Diversion Program within 24-48 hours following their release for assessment and referral for appropriate treatment, thus having their charges initially suspended or continued and later dismissed upon successful completion of the program.
White and his co-workers through their assessment determined if individuals were appropriate for services. They had the autonomy to make recommendations directly to the Pima County Courts. In this capacity,White was also involved in the critical training of the Pima County Sheriffs Department in their response on DV calls as well as court staff.
A member of the So. AZ Task Force On Domestic Violence, White and members of the Pima County Atty's Office were instrumental in advancing DV laws and language to more effectively identify the aggressor in DV conflict matters and properly consequent those behaviors.
