A Life Changing Moment
That obedience is valuable because it could save your life. I believe this because obedience is included in every law and/or rule that exists today. Also, I believe this because any rule put in place is for our own protection. An event I can remember through these beliefs is when my parents warned my five year old self to not jump on the bed. The reason being that it could cause me to miss the bed and fall, or to jump off hurting myself. But like all kids it was amusing to me being able to jump and touch the ceiling. It was as if I was doing an extreme sport in the commodity of my own home. Therefore I decided to only jump on the bed when my parents were not looking. Wrongly believing that they just wanted to prevent me from having fun and that if they could not see me I would not get into trouble. Time and time again it was my high risk entertainment having many close calls with the floor. Yet everything was all fine and well until one day. For most if not all young children there is a superhero that inspires them. It motivates them to imitate their strength, flight, or some other power from a never ending list. On this particular day, in my particular case, it was the second Spider-Man movie. Toby Mcguire’s ability to swing from building to building with such ease captured my attention. All because I thought he was a real college student who miraculously acquired spider like powers. My version, however, of aspiring for imitating these powers was jumping off the bed. My form of safety was cushioning the wall with two or three pillows. The first two times the flight from the bed to the pillows was amazing. Just like jumping out of a plane and skydiving to the ground. The last and final time was not so fun. I missed the pillows by quite a bit and smashed my head into the wall. Not knowing what was happening, my parents took me to the hospital. At the hospital they urgently set me on an ice cold metal table, strapped me down with belts and analyzed my situation. We soon received the news that I was fine, but if there was just a little bit more movement there was a possibility of paralyzation. This almost life threatening experience taught me the most important lesson I now believe in. In this I believe. That obedience can be life saving. (This was Jared and Gabriel.
