Scripture talks about how we are to live while we are waiting for “the end” to take place. We live in a culture that is very cynical. Think of attitudes towards politicians. Think of how culture judges others’ motives and always assume the worst. We are also extremely impatient and the idea of waiting for something triggers doubt in us that it will never happen. God knew that “waiting” for the end would bring out the worst in us and gives instructions on how to navigate “in the meantime.”
We will all face a judgment and have to give an account for our lives on earth and the choices we made. As believers, we face the Bema Seat judgment and potentially receive rewards in heaven; unbelievers face the Great White Throne judgment.
In a world full of darkness and despair, disease and death, devastation and destruction, it is easy to lose hope. Friends get cancer, young people die, futures are destroyed with financial meltdowns, families are decimated by divorce, adultery, affairs, pornography, abuse, etc. Living in that reality makes it easy to become hopeless. But as Paul explained what would happen to those who died before Christ’s return, he made clear that not even death can separate us from God’s future plans and that we “will be with the Lord forever”. So listen to this week as Pastor Eric brings a message of hope.
