Joe is currently the Senior Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Berkeley County and is running to be the next Berkeley County Prosecutor. Joe has been an Assistant Prosecutor in Berkeley County for the last nine years.
Joe started his career at the prosecutor's office fighting for abused and neglected children by representing the State in Child Abuse/Neglect cases. Eventually, Joe transitioned to prosecuting felony offenses but he continues to fight for children. Joe has been the Prosecutor's Office representative on the Berkeley County Multi Disciplinary Team since 2015 and works closely with law enforcement and our local child welfare partners to keep kids safe and pursue justice for children in our community.
Over the years Joe has established himself as an effective prosecutor and has earned the respect of those both in and out of the prosecutor's office. Joe has been responsible for investigating and prosecuting some of the biggest, most complex criminal cases in Berkeley County. Joe's passion for prosecution has even led to the creation of the Cold Case Unit within the Prosecutor's Office, which investigates and prosecutes unsolved cases.

"My name is John King, and I am running as an Independent candidate for Sheriff of Jefferson County. As an Independent Candidate, I had to obtain a large number of signatures to get on the Ballot. I would like to thank the hundreds of people who took the time to speak to me over the recent months in regards to my ideas for Jefferson County. In my opinion, the Sheriff should be non-partisan, and if elected I will be a Sheriff of the people for the people. Therefore, all Independents, Democrats, Republicans, and other political organizations are welcome and encouraged to support my campaign. I take the oath and commitment of being Sheriff sincerely as an act of giving back to the community. In fact, if legally possible I will defer half of my salary back to Jefferson County in order to circulate funding to other resources.
My over thirty (30) years Federal Law Enforcement career with the United States Capitol Police in Washington DC has provided me with a broad and diverse background in the justice system with respect to vital operational and administrative features of government. During my distinguished service with the Department, I served as a Patrol Officer, Administrative Officer, Administrative Sergeant, Canine Sergeant / Handler, and Special Agent / Bomb Technician. While assigned to the Administrative Services Bureau, my duties included developing policy and procedures, special directives, information technology, budget, procurement, contracts with vendors, purchasing, and asset management. The operational experiences I obtained as a supervisor gave me the opportunity to write evaluations, work with Unions, personnel management, payroll, scheduling, project overtime, manage training, travel requests, and develop plans of action for Congressional protection missions within Washington DC and the throughout the United States. One of my greatest experiences as a Special Agent / Bomb Technician was working with the United States Government, Office of Special Technologies “Technical Support Working Group”, on Counter-Terrorism. The work consisted of assisting in overseeing millions of dollars in research and development programs to combat terrorism for First Respondents and the Military. Throughout my service, I was required to maintain various high ranking “Top Secret” clearances from the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy and the Central Intelligence Agency to accomplish specific tasks and projects as a trusted Agent. In the time I have lived in Jefferson County, the divisions within the Sheriff’s Office have been a pleasure to interact with and perpetually professional. If elected, my goal is to ensure our Sheriff’s Office possesses the best education, training, and equipment among our personnel. Within the goals I have set will hopefully increase and create constant preservation of safety and security of all personnel in the Sheriff’s Office who are providing the same qualities to residents of Jefferson County. I believe in doing so will ensure the necessary harmonious work environment to be at our most productive. If elected, I will ensure the Sheriff’s Office maintains the upmost integrity, ethics, accountability, honesty, transparency, diversity, fairness, and empathy in a professional manner at all times. Miner's Lady is an 8-Hour Endurance Run that takes place in Harper's Ferry, WV. The course is a 10K loop that meanders through crushed gravel and single track. The loop has a few water-crossings with the turn around/ half way point Aid Station at a beautiful waterfall along the Shenandoah River. The aim of this race is to get as many 10K loops in as you can within the 8-hour time frame. Runners are encouraged to set a goal of at least 3 loops! We'll provide a fully stocked aid station at the start/finish lodge as well as a mobility mat area to mobilize in between loops; water and electrolytes will also be available at the half-way point of the loop. Registration caps at 140 runners! The Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah River only come together for a brief moment in West Virginia, so we like to think John Denver's inspiration is our race course.

Veteran family owned and operated WWI/WWII era themed cafe. Sarah (USN) and Dan (USMC) met while stationed together at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in 1993. They met in the weight room of the base gym and would build their friendship over the common bond of lifting weights. As duty goes, they would end up stationed apart and lose contact. Fast forward a few years and their paths would cross again. At first, strictly in the context of friendship - however, that would continue to grow as they both realized they complimented each other perfectly. Presently, the most friction you will see from them is a typical Navy vs. Marine Corps rivalry.

In addition to running her own business, she serves as an Adjunct Professor of Business, at Shepherd University where she teaches HR Management and Business Ethics course and served as an Adjunct Professor at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College (BRCTC) where she taught a level II HR Course. Tricia is known by her colleagues as a focused, organized, and driven leader that strives to include everyone and raises everyone's expectations.
She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Jefferson County Emergency Services Agency (JCESA) as Vice-Chair and on the Board of Governors for the Eastern Panhandle Business Association (EPBA) as Chair. Bros & Bras is a social and fitness group located in Jefferson County WV.
All fitness levels are welcome to participate in approximately 28 volunteer lead events monthly.
Kevin Brackens is the host of the Break It Down for Brackens Podcast. In 2015, he created the Bros & Bras fitness and social group which met weekly to enjoy some walking or running and cup of coffee.
