I met Rev. Prof. Andrew G. Gosler at a dinner at Oxford a few years ago — he's an ornithologist who spent 30 years in the woods studying birds, and he completely lit up the room. He grew up Jewish, ditched religion at his bar mitzvah to go birding, and then decades later, Dawkins' books accidentally pushed him toward Christianity — he was baptized in 2000 and eventually ordained as a priest. Andrew says: "Blue tits don't need to be saved — they're already in heaven. It's only humans that need saving, and we need to be saved from ourselves."

Two of my favorite scientists, Michael Levin and Azra Raza with Aastha Jain Simes, put their heads together in this provocative and touching interview. Azra describes the technology of our new company PredictRX that detects cancer at Stage Negative One.
We do this with a “Stentinel,” (starts at 15 minutes in) a stent with electronic sensors that is implanted in the arm and sense Polyploid Giant Cancer Cells (PGCCs) within 18 days of appearing in a patient.
Azra begins with an unusual definition of cancer and offers a detailed theory of Hybrid Cells based on her 35 years treating patients. This is a heart-gripping conversation. “If you find a single giant cell in a patient who’s in remission, a 2nd cancer is inevitable.”

Rob Berkley left this earth in December 2019 as a result of cancer. 58. Rob was THE most empathic and warm-hearted individual in the entire marketing space (I’m not exaggerating). When you would sit down with him you would feel his warmth focusing on you like an infrared heat lamp. He was one of my most valuable business advisors. Being trained by him and Victor Cheng was like having Oprah and Stephen Hawking together in the same room.
Stormy weather nearly prevented me from making his memorial at Martha’s Vineyard, but I managed to snag the boat ride and I’ll never forget the December 18 solstice sun streaming through the windows at his somber yet joyful gathering.
The other thing I will never forget is meeting his wife Debbie for the first time, right there at his memorial service. I had heard much about her, and she had heard about me, but we had never crossed paths.
I approached her in their kitchen and introduced myself. “Perry! I am so delighted to meet you!” She faced me squarely, looked deep into my eyes, and connected, human to human. I instantly felt the jolt of her conviction and aliveness. She wrapped her arms around me, embraced me, and welcomed me as though I were a friend of 25 years. Her energy was so palpable I was momentarily startled.
It only makes sense that Rob would marry a woman like Debbie.

Mark Chenoweth is a theologian with a particular interest in St. Maximus the Confessor (700 AD) and St. Gregory of Nyssa (400 AD) who wrote about life on earth as a goal-directed process as opposed to a series of divine miracles. Their ideas were very much in line with the ancient Greeks who have been greatly under-estimated by modern thinkers. Einstein’s theory of relativity overturned Newtonian physics in the early
1900s. Nevertheless, “Newtonian” thinking has remained firmly entrenched in
science. Certainly, all scientists now agree that at the subatomic level and at
near light speed, quantum physics overtakes Newtonian physics. But this
has had very little effect on biology and has done nothing to overturn the
“reductionist” view of science, which says that everything is merely the sum
of its parts and all can be modeled by mathematics.
Stuart Kauffman and computer scientist Andrea Roli have written a new
paper that proves evolving biology in principle cannot be reduced to
computation. This is as devastating to materialistic science as Gödel’s
Incompleteness Theorem was to mathematics. In fact, it is equivalent -
because it shows that evolving organisms embody incompleteness.
Induction, not a deduction. And induction cannot come from deduction;
therefore biology is not strictly computational.
Thus Kauffman and Roli have pulled the rug out from under ultra-traditional
views of physics. (Not everyone is going to be happy about this.) Here, Perry
Marshall and Stuart Kauffman jazz improvise on the vast implications of this
new, holistic view of the universe.

Perry Marshall is an author and highly influential business consultant with an electrical engineering background. In this discussion, he connects the foundational ideas in Evolution 2.0 with cutting-edge cancer science. Marshall lost his father to cancer at age 17 and has followed the theories behind its treatment ever since. He reminds listeners that common cancer therapy treatment only works routinely with early-stage cancer.
Alternatively, he says that when cancer reaches stages 3 and 4, survival chances are not that much better than they were in 1930. Therefore, there must be a lag in how we are addressing serious cancer diagnoses. This lag is connected with a traditional view of passive evolutionary theory rather than theories like that of Professor Henry Heng, who claims evolution is actively engineered by organisms themselves; in addition, they are able to pass those engineered traits to their offspring.
Henry Heng was one of the speakers at the Cancer and Evolution Symposium along with Columbia University Medical Center’s Azra Raza and evolutionary theorist James Shapiro from the University of Chicago. Dr. Heng connects this theory of evolution and cancer, noting that treatments like chemo destroy about 98% of the cancer cells while the few remaining develop massive wholesale restructuring of their DNA and are then more equipped to spread and survive. Importantly, this restructuring is active rather than a random accident of mutations.
Marshall explains these ideas in more detail and discusses other topics covered by the speakers. He describes the symposium as a world-class collection of cancer and evolutionary theorists coming together to address cancer evolution and disable the cancer treatment lag. The symposium took place October 14th through 16th, 2020.

Brenda Dunne was a scientist at Princeton University's Engineering Anomalies Research Lab for 28 years, where she and her colleague Robert Jahn performed extensive experiments on telekinesis (displacing objects and changing the behavior of machines by concentration), remote perception (perceiving objects and locations at great distance) and precognition (knowing future events before they happen). They documented with 99.999% statistical confidence that consciousness interacts with matter in undeniable but presently unexplained ways. The opening shot of my book Evolution 2.0 is an argument between me and my brother about evolution. Bryan had been a missionary in China, but in four years he went from right-wing Christian seminary grad to almost atheist.
He was dragging me with him. I wasn’t enjoying it, but I knew I had to be intellectually honest.
I found myself retreating to what I know best, which is science. I said, “Bryan, look at the hand at the end of your arm. I’m an engineer, and your hand is a fine, fine piece of engineering. You don’t think your hand is an accumulation of random accidents, do you?”
Bryan was good and ready for that question, and he pushed back with a standard-issue Darwinian answer. His answer didn’t quite jive with my experience… but I admitted my intuitions could be wrong. So instead of arguing, I decided to dive down the rabbit hole. I resolved to get to the hard truth, and follow it wherever it carried me.
Our argument in the back of a Chinese bus led to a book that took six years to write, a technology prize, and a quest for life’s origin that now includes some of the world’s most renowned scientists at top universities. You can read the rest of that story in Evolution 2.0.

100 years ago, biologists discovered they could generate DNA mutations with radiation, which was easy to do. They were excited because they believed they could now accelerate evolution. They tried experiments with fruit flies for decades. They learned a great deal about which genes perform certain functions… but as far as generating evolutionary events, those experiments were a total failure. There had to be something more to evolution that we didn’t understand.

I had a huge epiphany when I realized that everything I knew about 1s and 0s as a communication engineer applied to DNA. This sliced through a LOT of nonsense a lot of people were spouting about evolution. It also indicated who I could safely listen to and what I was likely to find as I dug deeper.

Referred to as “Science’s Unruly Earth Mother”, a “vindicated heretic”and a “scientific rebel”, Lynn Margulis was an American evolutionary theorist, biologist, and science author. She was the primary modern proponent for symbiosis in evolution.
Throughout her career, Margulis’ work aroused intense objection (one grant application elicited the response, “Your research is crap, do not bother to apply again”,) and her formative paper, “On the Origin of Mitosing Cells,” appeared in 1967 – after being rejected by numerous journals.
Her papers are now permanently archived in the Library of Congress, and she is considered to be one of the 20th century’s most important inspirational leaders.
Purpose & Desire: What Makes Something “Alive” and Why Modern Darwinism Has Failed to Explain It is yet another in a line of PRO-evolution books by highly credible, mainstream biologists who are stepping forward and insisting that The Emperor really does have No Clothes.
Turner is not in any way, shape or form opposed to the idea of evolution itself. He’s no creationist; he’s a professor at State University of New York. In fact he insists we are obligated to study and understand purpose, just to even make sense of evolution itself. And there are so many mechanisms we need to study.
The book is extremely well written and congenial. Like Shapiro and Noble, Turner is a gentleman through and through, and does not go on a shaming rampage. This book is no rant. Rather, he invites you to really think and decide for yourself.
And like those before him who first cracked the Berlin wall, he carves a middle path between the two extremes. I predict that in 2-5 years, hordes of former prisoners of Neo-Darwinian dogma will make their escape to freedom.
