Today we're talking about poets and prophets, and how prophets are poets and vice-verse. The key writer who set us off on this is Walter Bruggeman - in particular his book 'The Prophetic Imagination'.
Circling around this topic we talk artistic communities, imagery in scripture, and where we find the poetic voice in the church today. Finally we throw in some Walt Whitman for good measure.
We talk to Ross Meikle - friend and storyteller - about his trip to the USA to the Gathering Of Biblical Storyteller. We cover a bit of performance, a bit of preaching, the dynamics of learning scripture and writing fiction ,all while Ned and Peter struggle with the concept of talking to other people.
Recorded at the 2015 Riding Lights Summer Theatre School, we talk about symbols in both stories and church services.
After 40 days (more like 400) in the digital wilderness we final get down to recording Episode 3. We talk about curating spaces and creating prayer stations. In particular Ned talks about Threshold and Free To Be, two events in York Minster and Durham Cathedral respectively trying to use the buildings in new and welcoming ways.
It's episode 2 and we finally have a title! So we talk about it and where it came from, leading us into the always troubling psalm 137. After this we talk about the church in exile and, via The Cure, wonder whether it's just being a moody teenager.
