1. We Try To Live In The Dark

2- Prayer leads us from sickness to recovery

If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 5:15-16
4- Prayer leads us from ordinary to extraordinary power.

Two reasons why conflict:
1- Problem one- Selfish Heart
Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? 2 You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. James 4:1-3
An angry man stirs up dissension, and a hot-tempered one commits many sins. Proverbs 29:11
A quick-tempered man does foolish things. Proverbs 14:17
Man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. James 1:20
2- Problem three- Adulterous Heart
You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. James 4:4
But like a woman unfaithful to her husband, so you, Israel, have been unfaithful to me, declares the Lord. Jeremiah 2:20
Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us? James 4:5
3- Prescription (Solution) - Humble Heart
But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble." James 4:6
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Philippians 2:3-8
Process of getting rid of conflict:
1. Submit to God
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7
2. Draw near to God
Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8
That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” James 4:6
3. Humble yourself before God
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. James 4:10

The Power of the Tongue::
1- The tongue can direct life.
When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. James 3:3-4
2- The tongue can destroy life.
5 Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. James 3:5-6
3- The tongue can be divided in life.
9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth James 3:9-10
The Problem of the Tongue:
11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water. James 3:11-12

*Three things to thank God for:

3. Practice- do the right things
Philippians 4:9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

4. Position (for Joy)- Trust God in ALL things.

Three Dangers to every believer:

1. Don’t substitute rules for relationship

3. Don’t substitute Complacency over intimacy

Difference between happiness vs joy:
1. Happiness is outside, Joy is inside
2 Corinthians 11:23-27 Are they servants of Christ? (I am out of my mind to talk like this.) I am more. I have worked much harder, been in prison more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again and again. 24 Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. 25 Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, 26 I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false believers. 27 I have labored and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone without food; I have been cold and naked.
2. Happiness is based on circumstances, Joy is based on Christ
Philippians 4:11 …for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.

1. We sow and reap in like kinds. (v.7-8)
2. We reap later than we sow. (v.9)
3. We reap more than we sow.
Fruit is not something you try to produce to become a christian, it is something you produce because you are a christian.
