Why Forgiveness Fails And Accountability Frees Us-
You are not being advised to not forgive at all, but to consider if you really love your enemies or are being shamed into at least putting up a front. Secretly, if you are still angry and sick over past hurts, then you have not truly forgiven. But in many cases, it was in your right not to absolve anyone's guilt so that you would not be held prisoner in the pain. The time for ignorance is over- especially with more convenient access to information. For instance, with ease one could discover that the movement which was supposed to help Melanated people actually did more for the rights of other groups. Also, the basis of the movement was on the teachings of a man who could care less for the plight of Melanated people and would consider them "untouchable". The community, by following his teachings, was lulled into non-action labeled as peace. Duped again!
However, today the veil has been parted a little more and we can see how we allowed ourselves to be mislead. Melanated people are naturally compassionate and are wakening up to the false illusion that others are born with this compassionate nature as well. We must hold ourselves accountable for the error in judgement, but we do not have to alleviate the burden or absolve others from the crimes commited against us.
The road to healing is wide open. Letting go and moving on are better options when you are in the process of healing. If you forgive anyone, remember to begin with yourself.

Climbing Out Of The Bucket Together-
As a community, we have been ripped apart and separated long enough. We have learned to look upon each other with suspicion and even block one another from opportunities that would prove fruitful. Melanated women, particularly, are bashed by the very people who should protect them.
But today, we will remember the way that the ancestors used to take care of family and extended families, friends, and community and we will take it one step beyond.
