(Psalm 38:4, 9).Psalm 38 is one of the Bible's great psalms of lament, where David gives us an accurate picture of how we should view and respond to sin in our lives. Our sin against God has far greater effects than we could even imagine. We get a glimpse of how sin makes us feel, what it does to our relationships, and how it is we can find relief from it.Join us for this sermon as we learn how to bring our burdens to the Lord and find grace in the One who is our salvation.
“I have set before you today life and good, death and evil. If you obey the commandments of the Lord… then you shall live… But if your heart turns away, and you will not hear… you shall surely perish… Therefore choose life, that you may live” (Dt 30:15-19). Obey the Lord and live; disobey and perish. Those were Moses’s final words of welcome and warning to the Israelites to conclude the book of Deuteronomy (which we just finished together last month!). In this sermon, King David takes up this same theme in Psalm 37, reminding us that “evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land” (v9). Join us for this sermon for encouragement in your daily walk with the Lord!
innovation - promising to deliver us an answer - the answer - to our heart’s deep longing for joy and fulfillment. Jesus himself spoke to this yearning when he claimed, “I have come that [you] may have life and have it abundantly” (Jn 10:10). But a whole millennium before Jesus, King David illuminated the path to true meaning and happiness for us in Psalm 36: “With you [, O Lord,] is the fountain of life” (v9). Come discover life to the fullest in this sermon, and worship the “Fountain of Life” together with us!
Live long enough, and you’ll find yourself in real danger at some point in life. Under threat from a serious physical ailment or a life-altering relational rift, a circumstantial crisis or facing the severe consequences of your own sin; this world is full of peril. But where do we turn in our time of need? As we return to the book of Psalms and chapter 35 specifically, David reminds us exactly where we ought to bring all our troubles: straight to the Lord. As the apostle Peter puts it in the New Testament, we can “cast all our cares on Him, because He cares for you” (1 Pet 5:7). And, David adds, because the Lord is faithful to deliver us from evil. Join us for this sermon as we cry out in petition and praise to the Rock of our salvation.
For four books of the Bible now (Exodus-Deuteronomy), we have journeyed from a bushel basket in Goshen to the royal palace in Egypt, from the desert of Midian to the wilderness of the Arabah, from the top of Mt. Sinai to the top of Mt. Nebo, following every step of the way one central figure: Moses. But this Sunday as we conclude the book of Deuteronomy, Moses’s story comes to a close. As we have learned from his words and example these past 134 chapters now, so too in these final two chapters do we learn from Moses how to “finish well” the race of faith that God has set before each of us. Join us for this sermon for the grand finale of Deuteronomy (and the Torah!)!
Under changing leadership and transforming cultures, how can God's people pass the faith from one generation to the next? As we near the conclusion of Deuteronomy, we see God's people facing the uncertainty of leadership change from Moses to Joshua and confrontation with enemies in Canaan. More importantly, we see Yahweh, the God of Israel, provide for every need so that the people of God may pass the faith from generation to generation.
The discussion contrasts the old covenant with the new covenant in Christ, emphasizing that believers' relationship with God is now built on Christ's obedience rather than their own. The episode addresses listener questions about early warning signs of apostasy, including diminished spiritual hunger, increased worldly appetite, and unhealthy friendships. It explores how adoption serves as an analogy for spiritual adoption into God's family and the complete severance from sin that should accompany it. The conversation also examines how doubts and questions, when brought humbly to Christ like John the Baptist's inquiry, can strengthen rather than weaken faith.
In today’s world, we’re very familiar with contracts. From our cell phone plan to our gym membership, our mortgage to our employment agreement, we’re no stranger to signing on the dotted line. But we are increasingly unfamiliar with the idea of a covenant. What makes a covenant different? Why were they so significant in the biblical world? And most importantly, how do humans enter into (and remain in) covenant relationship with the Lord? Join us for this sermon as we consider all these questions and more, and continue our study of the book of Deuteronomy in chapter 29.
27, Moses similarly calls on Israel to “rightly respond to the Lord” in light of all that He has given them. But as we’ve seen all throughout this book, his charge isn’t just for “them back then”; it’s for us still today as well. How does God want us to respond to all that He’s done for us? Join us to find out…and worship accordingly!
Most of our lives are filled with ordinary, mundane moments. We move through the same routines, responsibilities, conversations, and tasks that can often feel disconnected from anything “spiritual.” But does God care about those parts of life? Does following Jesus actually shape the everyday and seemingly boring moments? This week in Deuteronomy, we will walk through a section of laws that may initially seem random, yet together they reveal how God cares about how His people live in every sphere of life. God doesn’t just care about how His people act in spiritual moments but also in the ordinary rhythms of everyday life, calling His people to reflect His character in everything they do.
Christians are often charged with espousing a sexual (and marital) ethic that is “outdated and oppressive”. If that’s how skeptics attack our New Testament convictions, they are even more denigrating of the Old Testament’s commands! To be sure, the Law has some pretty difficult and archaic things to say about sex and marriage, especially in our section of Deuteronomy for this sermon. How do we see God’s wisdom and kindness in such laws (and how does any of it point us to Jesus?)? Join us for answers!

22 this week, Moses reminds us why the Law is so important and so personal: because of whose Law it is. In order to fully appreciate God’s Law, we must first appreciate the God of the Law. Come worship Him with us!

Who leads the leaders? In a world where authority is often questioned, abused, or built on personality, God gives a very different vision. He shows us what it looks like for leaders to live under His authority, not above it. True leadership among God’s people is not about control or status, but about humble submission to Him.And this shapes more than just leaders; it shapes all of us. It influences how we live, worship, and discern what voices we follow. Ultimately, it points us to the One who leads perfectly, who never misuses authority, never speaks falsely, and is always worthy of our trust.
17, Moses once again exhorts Israel to remember the Lord - His past faithfulness, His present precepts, and His promise of judgment if they do faithlessly forget and disobey. Join us for this sermon as we remember the Lord and worship Him for who He is and what He’s done for us!
Ask the Pastors S8 E10: “What constitutes ‘porneia’ as biblical grounds for divorce (Mt 5:32)?” by West Hills Church
As we continue our study of the book of Deuteronomy this weekend, we’ll hear the Lord echo an exhortation He has already issued to His people (see 7:6). Having reminded Israel of His past faithfulness in chapters 1-11, and having invited them in chapters 12-13 to worship Him in response, God now instructs Israel to be “a people holy to the Lord your God, [for] the Lord has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples on the face of the earth” (14:2). As God’s present-day “chosen race”, “holy nation”, and “people for his own possession” (1 Pet 2:9), the Church today is similarly called on to “be holy, as I [the Lord] am holy” (1 Pet 1:16). What does it look like for us as Christians today to be “set apart” unto God? Join us this for this sermon as we look to God’s word for answers, and lean on God’s Spirit for strength.

In the Church we sometimes define “worship” as “assigning worth to”. By this definition, we are all worshipping (something)… all the time! But the questions we need to ask ourselves are: “Who or What am I worshipping?” and “How and Why?” These are the questions Moses brings before God’s people, Israel, in Deuteronomy chs 12-13 this Sunday. Actually, Moses offers them God’s answers to the questions. We hope you’ll join us for this sermon as we worship the Lord together, with His people, in His house, in accordance with His word.
In 1513, Juan Ponce de Leon led the first European expedition to what is now Florida. Legend has it (though historians now doubt) he was in search of the mythical “Fountain of Youth”, a supposed magical spring believed to grant immortality to those who drink from it. Perhaps just as legendary are fictional tales like Tuck Everlasting, The Mummy, and of course Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, all of which share this theme of a mortal’s quest for eternal longevity. But God has made such searches superfluous by showing us exactly how to “live long and prosper”: “You shall keep [God’s] whole commandment… that you may live long in the land that the Lord swore to you” (Dt 11:8-9). Obey the Lord, and we will be blessed; disobey, and we’ll be cursed (“you will perish quickly”; 11:17). But where does that leave sinful people like us? Join us for this sermon as we’re reminded of God’s remedy for our sin problem, and worship Him in response!
Deuteronomy is a book about remembering. As Israel stands on the edge of the promised land, Moses calls them to look back before they move forward. They have seen God’s power in Egypt, His provision in the wilderness, and His mercy toward a stubborn and wandering people.Yet their greatest danger was not the enemies ahead of them, but forgetfulness within them. When God’s people forget who He is and what He has done, their hearts begin to drift. The same struggle is true for us today. The remedy for wandering hearts is remembering the Lord: His mercy, His greatness, and His faithful work in our lives.Listen to this sermon as we open God’s Word together and remember God's faithfulness.
Proverbs 30:8-9 invites us to pray, “O God… give me neither poverty nor riches… lest I be full and deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.” Unfortunately, God’s Old Testament people Israel fell prey to both temptations. In Deuteronomy chapters 8-10, Moses both reminds Israel that they “profane[d] the name of God” in their poverty during their wilderness years (not by stealing so much as by doubting and grumbling) while also warning them against “denying” God in their affluence once they enter the promised land. Sadly, we are still susceptible to these same struggles - profaning God’s name in our poverty, and forgetting Him when we flourish. How do we remain “thankful in all circumstances” (1 Ths 5:18)? Moses’s advice: “Don’t forget where you came from”, and especially the One who has brought you thus far. Listen to this sermon and remember God’s faithfulness!
series, Brian, Will and Thad engaged in a discussion to categorize various Christian beliefs and practices into three tiers of theological importance. The tiers were defined as: Tier 1 (essential to the gospel), Tier 2 (important enough to separate churches over), and Tier 3 (areas where Christians could disagree within the same church). The pastors analyzed a range of topics including church attendance and membership, diversity, social justice, the role of politics from the pulpit, the historical Adam, women's roles in teaching, worship styles, sermon length, Bible translations, and alcohol consumption. Throughout the conversation, they often distinguished between the purely theological importance of an issue and its practical, functional impact on the unity and culture of a specific church community.
Why did God choose Israel to be His people?” This question has long troubled students of the Bible. After all, there were plenty of other nations around at the time God could have adopted instead. But He came only to Abram. In Deuteronomy 7, God answers the question by first explaining “It was not because you were more in number than any other people” (v7). Rather, God graciously chose Israel “because the Lord loves you and is keeping the oath that he swore to your fathers” (v8). Moreover, He chose them to be “a people holy to the Lord your God… a people for his treasured possession” (v6), that He might “bless [them] above all peoples” (v14). As the “true Israel of God” (Rom 9:6; Gal 6:16), the Church today is similarly called to be a people holy and blessed, “a chosen race… a holy nation, a people for his own possession” (1 Pet 2:9). What might we learn about God’s calling to holiness and His promise of blessing from Israel’s example? Join us for this sermon to find out!
When we reflect upon the way in which we relate to God as His people, many different verbs come to mind for the Christian. We worship the Lord. We love the Lord. We trust the Lord. But arguably the most biblically-emphasized (by God) yet under-appreciated (by us) of all our responses is to fear the Lord. The Bible says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Ps 111:10), “a fountain of life” (Pr 14:27), and “the whole duty of man” (Ecc 12:13). It tells us God’s “mercy” (Lk 1:50) and “friendship” (Ps 25:14) are only for those who fear him. Even Jesus warned us, “do not fear those who kill the body… Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell”, that is, God (Mt 10:28). In this sermon from Sunday in Deuteronomy, the Lord Himself exclaims of His people Israel, “Oh, that they had such a heart as this always, to fear me” (5:29), and He desires the same of us today. Listen now as we grow in our fear (and our worship, love and trust!) of the Lord.
If you could write a “top 10” list of rules for governing human behavior, what would you include? Many have offered their suggestions:Ted Turner’s list included a pledge of allegiance to the United Nations and a limit of 2 children per couple, to ration the planet’s resources. George Carlin reduced his list to just three commandments: “Thou shalt always be honest and faithful; Thou shalt try really hard not to kill anyone; and Thou shalt keep thy religion to thyself”. Atheist apologist Christopher Hitchens’ list culminated in the command to “Renounce any god”! But try as we may to reshape morality, to “be a law unto ourselves”, there is only one Law and one Lawgiver: the Lord God. And He has not left us in the dark about how we ought to live. In this sermon, we examine God’s “Top Ten” list together from Deuteronomy 5:1-21.
a method for categorizing theological doctrines based on their level of importance. They defined a three-tiered system: Tier 1 for issues essential to salvation (gospel issues); Tier 2 for urgent doctrines that are important enough to cause separation into different churches if disagreed upon; and Tier 3 for secondary issues where disagreement is permissible within the same church. The pastors then applied this framework to a series of theological topics, including baptism, same-sex marriage, justification by faith, and speaking in tongues, debating which tier each topic belonged to and discussing the practical implications for church unity, membership, and leadership.
As we settle in for Moses’s retelling of God’s Law in chapters 5-26 of Deuteronomy (lit. “second law”), we need to be aware of how prone we are to reduce the Law to just a list of “Do”s and “Don’t”s. But in his preface in chapter 4, Moses reminds us why the Law is so important and so personal: because of whose Law it is. Before we can fully appreciate God’s Law, we must first learn to appreciate the God of the Law.

A session where Pastor Will answered a series of questions from a listener named Brad, based on Sunday's sermon on Deuteronomy chapters 2 and 3. The main topics discussed included God's sovereignty over both nations and individual lives, the challenge of trusting God during confusing or unfair circumstances, and the critical balance between human responsibility and dependence on God.
As we noted in our introduction to Deuteronomy, the book is mostly comprised of three sermons Moses preached to the people of Israel just before they entered the Promised Land. This Sunday, Moses continues his first sermon by recapping their journey through the wilderness and reminding God’s people of the lessons He has taught them over the past 40 years. As God’s new covenant people, still living between our own “exodus” (salvation) and our eventual homecoming to the better “Promised Land” (Heaven), we need these reminders today just as much as the Israelites once did. Check out this sermon for God’s “Lessons from the Wilderness”, part two!

It’s often said that “those who don’t learn from the past are doomed to repeat it”. Yet many of us in the modern world are ignorant of history, preferring instead the recent and “relevant”. God’s word declares “Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways” (Ps 128:1). Yet we repeatedly disobey God, at times without even knowing “his ways”. God assures us “I know the plans I have for you… to give you a future and a hope” (Jer 29:11). Yet we are often quick to forget God’s promises, and live in fear and worry instead. Remembrance. Obedience. Faith. God wants each of these virtues for each of us, His people. And He offers them to us in the book of Deuteronomy. Even more importantly, God offers us Himself here: His law, His love, and His invitation to relationship. Join us for this sermon as we begin our journey together through this beautiful book of the Bible!
It’s often said that “people hate change”. Perhaps, but one thing is for sure: we love the NEW. The smell of a new car, the bells and whistles of a new phone, the excitement of a new relationship, the hope and promise of a new year. And it’s especially true when it comes to our spiritual lives: we delight in God’s “new mercies every morning” (Lam 3:23); we respond by “sing[ing] unto the Lord a new song” (Ps 96:1); most of all, we rejoice that in Christ, we are “a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come!” (2 Cor 5:17). Join us for this sermon as we trace this theme of newness throughout the entire story of Scripture, praising the God who is “making all things new” (Rev 21:5).
As we come to the final Sunday of 2025, it’s a natural moment to pause and look back. This past year likely holds moments of growth and gratitude, but also regret, failure, and things left undone. For some, looking back may even feel overwhelming, aware of the ways we didn’t follow Christ as faithfully as we should have. The question is: what do we do with all of that?In 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, Paul reminds us that our story doesn’t end with who we were, but with what Christ has done. “And such were some of you.” Those words invite us to look back honestly, remember the grace of Christ, and step into the new year as people made new. The Christian life is more than resolutions, it is renewal through the gospel.
In our modern world of online “social” networking, we are in some ways more connected to one another today than ever before in human history. Yet the reported rates of loneliness are at an all time high: 60% amongst Gen X, 65% for Millennials, and as many as 67% of Gen Z report feeling lonely “often” (Cigna, 2025). Where can we turn for real connection? First, we go to God (Ps 73:23). But second, we turn to - and fold into - God’s people, the Church, His prescription for our loneliness. We invite you to do just that during this sermon, and join us as we discover how “God’s Community is the Cure for the World’s Disconnection”.
“Why am I here?” It’s a question we’ve all asked at some point, perhaps often. According to a recent survey, 58% of young adults in the U.S. report feeling “little or no meaning or purpose in my life within the past month” (APA, 2023). And the numbers are trending upward in every age demographic. In a world that feels more and more aimless and adrift by the day, God’s word offers us a clear and changeless reason to keep getting out of bed every morning. The question is: “What IS it?” And just as important: “Are we pursuing it?” Check out this sermon for God’s prescription for the world’s purposelessness.
We live in a world where stress is constant, pressure is unrelenting, and noise fills nearly every corner of our lives. For many, worry has become a daily companion, something we carry into our relationships, our work, our homes, and even our sleep. It’s no surprise that anxiety has become one of the most universal human experiences of our time. Long before modern culture named anxiety, Scripture spoke directly to the restless heart. God does not minimize our fears, ignore our burdens, or shame our struggles. Instead, He invites us to bring our worries to Him and promises a peace that does not depend on circumstances. In Philippians 4:6-7, Paul offers a path that is both honest and hopeful: we bring everything to God in prayer, and God responds by guarding our hearts with a peace only He can give.
Never in the history of humanity have more people had more access to more information than we do today. And yet never have we been bombarded with more misinformation, disinformation, and outright lies. Surrounded by so much confusion, it’s no wonder that two-thirds of Americans today believe there is no such thing as absolute truth (Barna, “American Worldview Inventory 2025”, May 2025). But this crisis of truth is nothing new. The zeitgeist of our own postmodern age was well-summarized in Pontius Pilate’s question of Jesus during his trial 2,000 years ago: “What is truth?” (Jn 18:38). Jesus’ answer, however, is unequivocal: “Holy Father… your word is truth” (Jn 17:17). Join us this Sunday as we turn together to God’s word, the antidote for the world’s lies.
As we wrap up Paul’s letter to the Galatians this Sunday, there is one message he wants to leave ringing in our ears and hearts: It’s all about the gospel. Not circumcision (v12), not keeping the law (v13), not what we have done for God (v13), but rather what He has done for us by sending His Son Jesus to die for our sins. As Paul concludes, “far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ” (v14). This gospel saves us (v14), it transforms us (v15), it guides and guards us (v16), and it empowers us (v18). Join us this weekend for Galatians’ grand finale, as we glory in the gospel together! As we near the end of Paul’s letter to the Galatians, he offers us some (almost) final commendations. Having already exhorted us how we are to “use our freedom” (v13) personally - “walk by the Spirit” (v16) - as well as interpersonally in a more general sense - “through love serve one another” (v13) - Paul now gets specific about what loving service looks like in the context of gospel community. Jesus himself said, “By this all people will know that you are my disciples: if you have love for one another” (Jn 13:35). How do we put that love into practice? Listen for edifying instruction and gospel-rich encouragement!
Recently in our walk through the book of Galatians, we have celebrated the freedom we now enjoy as followers of Jesus (“Christ has set us free!”; 5:1). The apostle Paul explained what we’ve been freed for (“for freedom”; 5:1), what we’ve been freed from (we are no enslaved to the “desires of the flesh”; 5:17), and what we’ve been freed by (“for through the Spirit, by faith, we wait for the hope of righteousness”; 5:5). In this passage, Paul will further explicate the purpose of our freedom: how are we now freed to live as God’s people? Join us as we discover and pursue what it means to walk in freedom!

Last week in our walk through the book of Galatians, we celebrated the freedom we now enjoy as followers of Jesus (“Christ has set us free!”; 5:1). The apostle Paul explained what we’ve been freed for (“for freedom”; 5:1), what we’ve been freed from (we are no longer “obligated to keep the whole law”; 5:3), and what we’ve been freed by (“for through the Spirit, by faith… in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts”; 5:5-6). The young Christians in Galatia started their Christian life well. They were walking in the freedom of God's grace. After hearing anti-Christian teachings, they were prone to turn towards a works righteousness. Because of our sinful nature, we are still prone to legalism and licentiousness and lose the very freedom Christ died to secure for us. This conversation was the second part of a discussion where the pastors explained the reasoning behind the structure of their corporate worship service. They began by discussing the introduction of the Pastoral Prayer, detailing its purpose and structure. The conversation then moved to the sermon, covering topics such as its ideal length, the practice of standing for the reading of scripture, and the importance of preaching the gospel every week. They also explained why they do not practice traditional altar calls, citing concerns about manipulation and false assurance. The discussion concluded by covering the final elements of their service: communion, the closing song, and the final commissioning or benediction, explaining the theological and practical reasons for how each is conducted. Will's TGC articles: 5 Reasons for the Pastoral Prayer: https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/reasons-pastoral-prayer/?queryID=2f7e994564e002a86c4d04e32112f6e4Why I Lead a Sinner’s Prayer Every Sunday: https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/sinners-prayer-sunday/
Our lives are filled with choices. Paper or plastic? Cash or credit? “Round up for college” or feel guilty for not rounding up? And that’s all just the grocery store checkout line! But of all the choices we face, perhaps none is more important than this one: religion (for God) or relationship (with God)? LAW (striving to please God with my obedience) or GRACE (resting in God’s pleasure through Christ’s obedience)? According to the apostle Paul, this ought to be the easiest choice we ever make! As Galatians ch4 draws to a close, Paul makes his case for why the choice is so clear, why grace is so superior to the law. Join us as we celebrate God’s gracious gift of His Son Jesus! “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come!” (2 Cor 5:17) At least that’s how God now sees us. But how we actually live? Sometimes that’s another story. The apostle Paul was no stranger to this tension. In Romans 7 he confessed, “ I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in [me] another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in [me].” (vv22-23) And yet Paul rejoiced that “through Jesus Christ our Lord” we can be “deliver[ed] from this body of death” (v24). In this sermon from Galatians 4, Paul exhorts the Galatians - and every believer today - to die to our sin and live as the “new creations” in Christ that we now are. Join us for exhortation and encouragement from God’s word!

Husband. Father. Son. Pastor. Co-worker. Friend. We all bear many titles, all of which describe us; none of which fully defines us. But of all the labels we wear, none is more important than “Child of God”. How do we become a child of God? What is our identity before we become a child of God? “All religions are basically the same.” We’re no strangers to such an appraisal in today’s world. We even hear it from the lips of many who identify as Christians. But such a conflation of the various competing worldviews out there would have been unthinkable to the apostle Paul. Specifically, there is one thing that sets Christianity apart from every other religion out there: they are all primarily concerned - in one way or another - with instructing their adherents in how to live; commending a law to live by. Christianity, on the other hand, proposes that “a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ” (Gal 2:16). In this text, Paul will expound all that faith in Christ can do for us that the law was powerless to do.
This conversation, prompted by a listener named Darcy, explored why responding to the gospel in faith is not considered a "work" that earns salvation. The pastors explained from a Reformed theological perspective that faith is not a meritorious human action but rather a gift from God.
Unity. It’s one of the most frequent exhortations found throughout the New Testament: the call to “be united in one mind” (1 Cor 1:10); to “maintain the unity of the Spirit” (Eph 4:3); to “agree with one another and live in peace” (2 Cor 13:11). It was even Jesus’ final prayer for his followers: “that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me” (Jn 17:23). But what is this “one”-ness that we share in Christ? What does it mean to be one in the gospel? Check out the sermon for part two of Paul’s answer in Galatians 2:11-21.

We’ve all heard it said that “people don’t really change”. Well try telling that to the apostle Paul! What could possibly convince a man who had devoted his life to “persecut[ing] the church of God violently” (Gal 1:13) to then re-dedicate his life to “preaching the faith he once tried to destroy” (1:23)? Only one thing, according to Paul: “a revelation of Jesus Christ” (1:12). If sinners like us have any hope of being changed… redeemed… SAVED… we must be “called by [God’s] grace” (1:15). How does God do this? Why does He do it? In this text, Paul unpacks the origin, objective, and outcome of God’s calling on our lives.
Have you ever felt desperate… alone… afraid… yet somehow held together by a thin thread of hope? Psalm 34 was written out of that kind of moment. It’s not just a song, but it’s an invitation. David had just walked through one of the most dangerous and fearful experiences of his life. And in that moment of fear and despair, God met him, rescued him, changed him, and now David is inviting us to experience the God who draws near for ourselves.

What do your prayers sound like? Many people only go to God when they want or need something. Some of us were taught the “A.C.T.S.” model of prayer: Adoration - Confession - Thanksgiving - Supplication. Others insist that the Lord’s prayer (“Our Father…”) is the only one needed, but the Bible invites us to pray “with all kinds of prayers” (Eph 6:18; NIV). King David offers us a beautiful model of prayer in Psalm 28 (“To you, O Lord, I call…”). In this message, we examine his words and emulate his example in our own praising and petitioning of the Lord.
Integrity is often defined as “doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.” However, when King David declares in Psalm 26, “as for me, I shall walk in my integrity”, it is precisely because someone is watching, namely, the LORD. In this psalm, David not only enjoins us to integrity; he shows us the path for walking in it. If you want to “walk securely” (Pr 10:9), be “preserved” (Ps 25:21) and “upheld in God’s presence” (Ps 41:12), have “blessed… children” (Pr 20:7), you won’t want to miss this message!Website: https://westhillsstl.orgFacebook: / westhillschurch Instagram: / west.hills.church Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6rcm417...#WestHillsChurch #STLchurch #thegospel #psalm26 #walkinintegrity#integrity #jesus

9/30/18 | "A Time to Remember, a Time to Renew" - Pastor Gary Brooks by WestHillsChurch
1 Peter 3:18-22: This passage from 1 Peter is considered to be one of the most obscure texts in the New Testament. However in the midst of it all is a very encouraging reminder of Christ's victory over death and his ensuing glory in heaven.
1 Peter 3:13-17: The faithful Christian will encounter adversity, especially from those who are opposed to what he believes. It is important to be both confident and winsome in defending one's faith.
1 Peter 3:8-12: There are certain attitudes that, by God's grace and with his help, a person can nurture in his or her life that will contribute tremendously to living a really good life. Peter spells out what some of these are.
1 Peter 3:1-7: Marriage can be a place of great blessing for both husband and wife if they each live according to God's prescription. Peter shows just how much influence a truly attractive wife can have, and how an understanding husband not only honors his wife but also enhances his prayers.

12/31/17 | "To Live the Life We Could Not Live" - Associate Pastor Will DuVal by WestHillsChurch
1 Peter 2:9-12. God's purpose throughout the history of the human race has been to make a people for his own possession. As we understand our new identity (chosen, royal, holy), we come to realize the wonder of God's mercy, and the high calling of spending our lives proclaiming how excellent he is.
1 Peter 2:4-8. Throughout history, Jesus Christ has been a "chosen and precious" cornerstone for millions of believers, while at the same time a great source of stumbling for those who do not believe.
1 Peter 2:1-3. Sometimes it's very important and necessary to be reminded of very basic stuff when it comes to living as a follower of Jesus. Peter lays out some fundamental attitudes and practices that every Christian needs to take to heart.
