Do you ever really "Own" your home? What about the impending Smart Device invasion?

On this episode, we discuss the pros and cons of both home ownership and renting - and the whole concept of ownership in general.

The idea of renting a home or apartment is exciting to many people who can't or don't want to mess with lawn care, shoveling, maintenance, etc. As a home owner, on the other hand, you do those things whether you like it or not. We lay out cases for both scenarios and why you may never truly own your home or property even if you've paid it off.

In the second half of the show, we talked about how technology and in particular Smart Devices are making home ownership a lot more connected and customizable.

Things we mentioned:* Nest Smart Thermostat * Ring Wifi Doorbell * Amazon Echo * Google Home * Tesla Solar Roof

Cars.

Historically, the driving force of America's consumer.

Okay Sergei came up with that pun.

They are the amazing machines that get us from point A to point B and they currently are being disrupted.

With the rise of electric cars and technology being inserted into the automobile, cars are moving more and more into the software world.

And software needs to be updated, which means some very important implications for what this means for car ownership.

Items Discussed In This Episode* What were our first cars? * Article: John Deere works to make contractual laws to not allow farmers to work on their equipment they bought because of the damage that could be done to the hardware and software. * General Motors looking to do the same * What this mean currently for us as car owners * What will our children do in the future for transportation

Our first episode.

I would like to say this episode was a long time coming, but in all reality, it happened very fast.

Sergei thought we should go and record together and so over our lunch break we hopped in my car and made this initial recording.

To a certain extent that is where the "Break" in Future Break came from.

Personally, as a long-time podcaster, it was one of those moments were after recording I was thinking,

"Wow, that was awesome. Let's do that again."

And by the end of the day, we had a logo and had edited this episode.

Items Mentioned In This Episode* Sergei's background * Peder's background * How we are excited about what the future will bring * And some thoughts on super fast trains
