Hosts Jackson Ajello and Biko Skalla try and find some light in the darkness that is the life of a New York sports fan.
Actually a doozy of a week for sports in a world with almost no sports: Japan has a plan to play baseball, the NBA is "GOING TO DISNEY WORLD", and Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Peyton Manning, and Tom Brady gave us an amazing show. Oh and Brady split his pants.
With the 10th and final episode of The Last Dance comes the 10th episode of The Empire State of Sports. The fellas accidentally talk Jordan vs LeBron, and there is a film crowned best sports movie of all time, only took 10 weeks to figure that one out.
Well it took nine episodes before Jackson and Biko accidentally had an MJ vs LeBron debate, but overall it's pretty impressive that hadn't happened in the previous eight weeks without sports. Also CC looks like a Greek God and the MLB continues to work through how they can play baseball this summer.
The KBO is live on ESPN, Jackson and Biko tell you why you should try to catch a game. Plus, The Last Dance chugs on and keeps leaving more and more unhappy NBA players in its wake. Isiah Thomas and Charles Oakley star in these week's episode of "I'm still mad about 90s basketball." And we take a trip down memory lane to the last time a Yankee was hit by a Met in the All Star Game, and an all-time great that almost went to St. John's.
Wow 7 weeks without sports have gone by just like that and lucky for you anytime you want to check how many weeks it has been without live sports just checkout what Empire State of Sports episode is out. Isn't that handy! Anyway we've got NFL draft grades for New York's best and brightest, an unreal Dennis Rodman story, and what records are the most UNBREAKABLE (Kimmy Schmidt theme song voice).
BIG WEEK! It's virtual NFL draft time, Rob Gronkowski is taking his talents to the Sunshine State, and J-Lo and Arod have become serious about purchasing the Mets. Oh and also the dogs of Glenerie Farm only bark the first minute, so enjoy it while it lasts.
Would you rather an empty stadium or robots, mannequins, and cardboard cutouts filling the stands? There is a right answer. Plus Dave Gettleman tips his hand, Aaron Hicks is back in the batters box, and screw it - let's spin the wheel of terrible New York athletes again!
The reception was so thunderous for no-guest Tuesday a week ago that we brought it back one more time! The KBL is back in business, Robert Kraft is suddenly a New York hero, and the NFL Draft officially pulls the 180 of a lifetime going from a Vegas trip to everyone staying at home and doing it online. And while we're playing the hits here we decided to bring back another edition of Spin the Wheel of Terrible New York Athletes.
A special no-guest edition of the Empire State of Sports because there is just too much to talk about in the sports world right now! James Dolan has COVID-19 and Aroldis Chapman has an enormous left arm. Plus the fellas discuss how this year ranks among the worst ever in NY sports so far and play a brand new game called Spin the Wheel of Terrible NY Athletes.
Another week without sports another amazing week to have a sports podcast! The fellas are joined by play-by-play broadcaster Michael Lehr who talks about how the loss of sports was felt by the UVM basketball team and one of the unforgettable moments of college basketball this season. Plus KD's got carona, Dick Pound breaks the internet, and much more!
Hosts Jackson Ajello and Biko Skalla talk about how New York sports have been affected by coronavirus and dabble with a little Jets and Giants free agency. Mathew Gutierrez of The Athletic joins the pod to discuss the wild scene in Greensboro when the ACC Tournament was cancelled. Plus something never done before in sports podcasting is unveiled: a March Madness bracket for sports movies.
