NOW based in NY but always focused on the world -- HuffPost writer/blogger and Caribbean-born Marlon 'DJ Pelau' Regis (pronounced “Peh-Laow”), is a multi-talented music stylist that has always lived being surrounded by rich music via life’s travels. Whether in his youthful days on the festive, multicultural streets of his birthplace in Trinidad, right home in Petit Valley listening to his dad's enormous jazz collection (his older brother's name is 'Miles') or in his adopted homes of Atlanta, NYC, Los Angeles and now Brooklyn, the direction of his music through DJing or producing compilations first aims to connect to the people. With an unwillingness to limit himself to one particular genre or social scene for that matter, expect a wide variety, hence his blog: …is the spice of life! His selections, as music curator + programmer in the past, whether on the rooftop of The Standard Rooftop Bar (LA) or through corporate mediums such as DMX Music Inc, have always found SOUL in a constant rotation at well-established stores, boutiques, restaurants, hotels and beyond...
This is an 'imaginative' mixtape -- juxtaposed through a theme of the many scents given off by perfumes. Personifying quite a few different genres, flavors and tempos of my music selections, this 1hr+ mix hits Paris, NYC, Lagos, Kingston, Port-of-Spain, Los Angeles, Oakland, Soweto, London, Chicago and more. It's one of the most over-looked (see? LOL!) and forgotten senses. When we view, or hear - we feel, we know, we're in the experience. But tap into the sense of smell, let your mind reminisce, reflect and visualize that new ride, city bar, hotel lobby or, that special person igniting an unknown aroma throughout the room. Oh yea, the many scents of perfume can do wonders to your mind as well!

"Alone.. But Never Lonely" -- a brilliant painting by artist (& my brother) Miles Regis that inspired me so much during this crisis, my 'C.O.V.I.D. (Chill Option Vs Isolated Distancing) 19 Mix' was the result. It just might 'ease di tension' of being stuck indoors by repeated days, weeks or months of being on lockdown - no travel, no bar-hopping, no fete, no park jams, no rooftop soirees, no dining, no massive socializing, and no need for reminding you, right? All activities -- socially speaking, every song on this mixtape represents. Couldn't think of a hand-sanitizer song, nor a toilet paper jam but, sit back n' relax... after all, you're running out of options! Be safe out there.
Chill-ax, it's my latest version -- N.Y.C. (NOW Your City) 'gentry-fixation' Mix, replacing my "White Flight" moniker of mixtapes of indie rock, alternative rock, rock n' roll and Cali-beach or chill wave jams. A lifestyle you might or might not necessarily live? Stop by and say hi :) This time, it's reverse migration aka 'gentrification' -- a word people abuse, not even knowing what the hell they're talking about! If Uncle Jasper, or Aunty Mildred (black), who's worked all his/her life, finally saved enough money to own his/her entire apt bldg. or refurbishes his/her brownstone, n' now rents to kids(whites included) in Bed-Stuy or Crown Heights, is that still gentrification? Know before you judge, cause we might be buying di same chinese 'fast food', washing in the same laundry mat + riding the same bus/train! We might be just trying to survive.
Summer might be coming to a close in the U.S., but let's not forget we're not the world! Summer is 'relative' - so catch my house vibes, wherever you reside, hence the title: "mi casa ~NO~ su casa"! This mix builds, takes you through the porch area (gallery!), kitchen, living room, basement, bathroom n' of course bedroom, for some tasty, nasty, dirty, underground, relaxing, spiritual n' funky house music! Welcome.
