We are down to two slips for the final episode of the summer. As Hall of Fame inductee Dean Jones sets about defending his Pakistan Super League title in the UAE, Hammy and SO'D reflect on the season that was and award the inaugural Simon O'Donnell medal - the top gong in Australian cricket broadcasting.
Big Merv Hughes is filling in at second slip for Dean Jones this week. The rest of the squad remains unchanged heading into the second Test with Sri Lanka, with Hammy Goodman and Simon O'Donnell retaining their spots.
Co-vice-captains, selection anomalies and violent bat flips are all on the agenda this week as Deano and SOD pick their playing elevens for the Ashes and World Cup.
Deano says Australian cricket is desperate for a new hero - could it come in the form of batting prodigy Will Pucovski? Could it come in the form of the bloke who nearly took the GOAT crowd catch in Geelong? Or could it be as simple as pulling Merv out of retirement and reviving the Canberra Comets?
For the final time in 2018 Hammy, SOD and Deano complain about the Test team, analyse the bat flip and cast their eye over the year that was.
The rundown is out the window as Three Slips No Cover zero in on Christmas! What's under the tree for the players? Who has the early ascendency in the Simon O'Donnell medal for cricket media personality of the year? And, does Vihari have to give up on his hair?
Having been remarkably green lit for a second episode, the cordon are back to pull apart the First Test and more from the world of Cricket. SOD says the players look confused, Deano says Tim Paine needs runs and Hammy reckons hills or flats is one of the great innovations of the modern era.
In their first hit out Hammy, SOD and Deano cast their collective eye over the match ups that matter this summer: Fox Sports v Channel 7, Gerard Whateley v Pup and ODIs v the Big Bash. Fresh off a 16 hour flight, Deano offers a frank assessment of Australia’s chances this Summer whilst SOD has some friendly advice for any Test debutants.
