We continue in Luke where Jesus tells a strange little story, and gives a big piece of advice. I'm fairly sure it could have been written today. Can't wait!
We're diving into some of the meat of Jesus' teachings this week, and he gives us a warning. A weird sounding one. But loaded with meaning and profound wisdom.
We're continuing through the Gospels, and we get to a "Woe" moment. Literally 7 of them.
What could make Jesus look at you and say, "Woe unto you"? We'll take a look together at one of the most unique and important teachings of Jesus' life.
Jesus says lots of stuff. Some seems to make sense right away. Some not at all. Together we'll see that there's always more to it.
What does it mean to have a good eye? And why does it seem so important?
Jesus teaches us to pray. I know, I know...it sounds cliche. But this is like, literally God, teaching us to pray. I feel like this is something we should look at very closely.
Happy New Year! It's a fresh start. A rebirth. A chance to say, "Maybe this year, this year...won't be the worst." Or something like that...
This week, we study a story that is apt for this moment. Some choices before us. Some examples to see. I'm pretty excited about it.
Ahhh, I love this time of year. That is, if I can take a moment to appreciate it. To reflect on it and take it in. That's what we get to do this Sunday. Stop and sing. Pause and reflect.
We get back into the Book of Luke, and Jesus starts talking about what it looks like to live the Gospel. Of course, He never like... tells us. He instead, tells us a story. This Sunday's passage is a familiar one. But with a surprising message attached.
This Week! Jesus is looking for some alone time. So He sends out His disciples. Explicitly, like sheep among wolves.
What does this story show us? What does Jesus say about how and what we are to communicate to the world around us about our faith?
Jesus makes a pretty famous statement. Something about Truth nd Freedom. We'll explore both.
What does it mean to have Truth in 2018? Sounds like the beginning of a fight to me.
This week we explore what Jesus means when He tells us we can know the Truth.
Meeting Peter at the Pearly Gates...
Peter: "Your credentials, please?"
You: "Remember that time Jesus called you Satan?"
Peter: "..."
That's what we're talking about this week.
Jesus asks a simple question. Almost vulnerable like. Who do you say I am? And together we get to answer that.
And forget about the World Cup. Amen.
Herod or the Pharisees. Politics or religion. Pick your poison. Neither works. What's Jesus' answer?
This week! It's time for Jesus to confront religion. He never does that, right?
What does it look like to be clean? I know, we're all too mature and mindful to believe we aren't clean. Right? This week, we look at Jesus' response to what makes us 'clean'. And what makes us 'unclean'.
It's surprisingly universal.
