Recorded live at The Common on December 22, 2022. This set nearly didn't happen at all. My first flight was cancelled due to weather and only thanks to some helpful folks on a different airline did I make it on time. It ended up being one of my favourite sets of the year. I am so happy to be returning to my podcast series with a live mix from my set at @bass-c0ast Festival 2022. I opened the brand new Cabin stage on Friday afternoon and it was such a beautiful experience.

For this episode, I'm very happy to introduce you to a BC duo: Naturalist. I first came across them from their excellent mix series and they've quickly become some of my favourite DJs in the BC interior. Their mix is a beautiful mix of melodies and worldly influences.

Naturalist Bio Naturalist is made up of two music lovin' brothers, Sam Moffat and Caleb Brown from Fernie BC.

Don't let their last names confuse you, these brothers are known for bringing good vibes and their fun and energetic stage presence will make you want to join the fun just as much as their music does. They each bringing a unique style to the turntables and their live sets are made up of various styles of feel good house and disco bangers that come together to create a sound they call ‘Space Disco.’

2019 has been their breakthrough year and after winning the Kootenay Music Awards ‘Artist Of The Year’ they shared their sound to the largest crowd they have ever played for at The Living Room Stage at Shambhala.

The future looks bright for these boys, and they are ready to run with it.

Our final Parkcast of the year comes from Canadian producer Johnny Posh who recently celebrated the release of his first album, 'Portals', on the excellent Random Collective imprint. The album is a lush, beautiful exploration of downtempo and world music. It's well worth your time and I feel very fortunate to have Johnny close out the year for the podcast!

This summer I met a lovely couple who told me that they listen to my mixes as they go on canoe trips throughout the Canadian wilds. They were such nice people and their story really stuck with me and I'm really touched that I get to soundtrack these trips. I am so happy to present Nathan Hall as my latest guest for the Parkcast! As one of the minds behind Costa Rica's excellent Random Collective and a excellent DJ and producer in his own right, Nathan has released on some of my favourite labels like CasaCaos, Cosmic Awakenings, and Shango Records.

Nathan Hall Bio Currently living in Sea to Sky country, in the mountain town of Squamish, Canada. Nathan Hall is a genre-melting producer and selector of music that is quite hard to define. Where the edges dissolve and mix to create something that can only be surmised as eclectic. His influences stem from his travels and immersions into different cultures and their histories. He is known for being unafraid to experiment, to swerve and pivot between styles and to challenge his listeners to expand their musical horizons. Slow Techno/House, Tribal, Multicultural, Electronica/Ambient, Downtempo & more.

With a long history as a DJ (15+ years) and education as an audio engineer. He credits his relatively recent move to Squamish to have brought him to a mental space to create the music he would eventually play out at his shows. In a short time he has released on labels all over the world including Akumandra, Casa Caos, Cosmic Awakenings, Shango Records and more...

Alongside his original productions, Nathan has become sought after for his remixing and mixtape/podcasts which has lead to several international gigs in Costa Rica, Colombia, and most recently his Europe Tour in October of 2018 which saw him headline The Hive, in Zurich and Slowmotor in Berlin.

In addition, Nathan is also part of Random Collective Records, in an A&R and Engineering role. It is a rapidly growing digital label releasing some of the finest artists, known and unknown in the slower tempo music scene. He also hosts a monthly music night called Refuge in Vancouver, focusing on downtempo and multicultural, more mindful dance music.

It's amazing how much can change in a year. Both outlook and intention. I'm walking into this year a deeply different person than I was last year, and it's all for the better.

This mix is my version of a morning set. A collection of tunes to capture the wonder and weirdness that comes with sunrise. I hope it brings you into 2019 with all the hope and optimism you can muster.

July is typically a month spent on the road for me. Like many people, the peak of summer is filled with festivals, road trips, and travels of all sorts. I wanted to make a mix that could accompany you on your adventures, wherever you may be. I tried to make a mix that included a wide range of influences and cultures. There's ups, there's downs, new things, old things, and of course, sounds you've never heard before. It's just like any good journey.

This mix was recorded on April 27th at Open Studios in Vancouver. I played a 3 hour opening set for the amazing KMLN and RE:ME. So much love to everyone who came out and for Myth for having me. I cut off the first 30 minutes as I wanted to start things off with one of my favourite tracks from last year, "Ezra Was Right" by the Grandbrothers.

My approach to opening sets is very gradual, especially when warming up for a duo like KMLN. I hope you enjoy the slow progression. Makes it pretty perfect for a Parkcast I think. <3.
