Since I was 18 or 19 I've been dreaming of businesses I wanted to start, all the money I wanted to make, all the friends I would have and how I wanted my body to look. As years pass and life happens, some of the those goals came to fruition, but a lot of them seem to get further and further out of reach. Looking back, it's easy to see how those goals that I never reached (yet....), I convinced myself that those weren't really my goals. These new goals are the ones I really want.

Instead of persevering and following one course until success, I would let those ideas go and just chase new ones. Listening to as many speakers, authors and entrepreneurs as I have, I've heard so many stories of their 10 year journey to success. I feel like sometimes I still need to figure out what I want to do. But that's really not true. I know what I want, for my health, for my social life, my love life and my career. Really I need to focus on that, pursue it relentlessly and not get distracted as I make strides towards those goals.

I've only known Cody since he started working at the gym I train at, so I always just knew him as the skinny kid. But as we get into this discussion today, his story of sports injuries, social insecurities, and weight loss really hit home with me. Cody is much younger than me, much more fit than me...and has a full head of hair! Despite our differences there are so many lessons we can learn from each other. I've heard the same story of insecurity, depression and anxiety in so many people, that it's surprising I still have a hard time thinking no one knows my struggles.

Cody's blog and online training program is full of actionable information to help you get to your goals. So many blogs and articles I've read are motivational, but fail to deliver on specific actions to take....Cody's definitely got you. Visit and subscribe to his blog at www.BoomBoomPerformance.com.

A lot of the times I stop being consistent with this blog, or consistent in working out, etc...is when my life falls victim to the 3P Syndrome. That is "Projecting a Perfect Persona." I sometimes felt like if my life wasn't perfect in every area, I was a hypocrite for trying to offer advice and motivation to others. You know Kobe Bryant had many off days and slumps. On those days I would still love to take any playing advice he wanted to give. I'm not trying to say I'm Kobe...but you understand the reference.

Everyone has ups and downs. To be honest, I learn most from seeing people climb back up from the bottom after a fall. One, I learn how they fell and how I can avoid it. Two, I see the steps they took to climb the mountain. So that's what this podcast is for me. It's for posterity so I can look back and see my progress and so others can see that it is possible to overcome multiple pitfalls.
