So what happens when you finally admit to yourself that you have a drug addiction problem? For many individuals the situation becomes critical and often times can result in unfortunate situations such as being ostracized by their families and friends. In many cases the drug addict chooses suicide as a way to escape the addiction cycle and in many other cases, death through disease and or incarceration if the individual does not seek the professional guidance from a drug rehabilitation center and of course .... a little help from the Man upstairs in the form of Divine Intervention....

Drug rehabilitation (often drug rehab or just rehab) is a term for the processes of medical or psychotherapeutic treatment, for dependency on psychoactive substances such as alcohol, prescription drugs, and street drugs such as cocaine, heroin or amphetamines. The general intent is to enable the patient to cease substance abuse, in order to avoid the psychological, legal, financial, social, and physical consequences that can be caused, especially by extreme abuse. Treatment includes medication for depression or other disorders, counseling by experts and sharing of experience with other addicts. Some rehab centers include meditation and spiritual wisdom in the treatment process.

Join Carlos Montenegro to discuss the “pros & cons” of Drug Rehabilitation centers vs. Spirituality & Divine Intervention.

In an ideal world, children live carefree. They play with friends, eat nutritious food and receive a good education. They don’t worry about paying bills or searching for their next meal. They’re nurtured, protected and guided by caring adults who provide all their basic needs. Eventually, they become productive members of society. Such are fundamental rights, not privileges. And yet, the United States — one of the most powerful and prosperous countries in the world — has the second highest rate of relative child poverty among economically developed nations.

A person may be considered to be a transsexual or transgender person if their gender identity is incongruent with the sex they were assigned at birth, and consequently also with the gender role and social status that is typically associated with that sex.

Direct actions, protests, and acts of civil disobedience are powerful tools for change. Transgender individuals participating in these actions may also put you at risk of arrest and/or mistreatment by police and in jail. When participating in direct actions, transgender people should understand their rights and take necessary precautions before

accepting the risk of arrest. Transgender people are particularly at risk for being profiled and mistreated by police and in jail. This could range from verbal abuse, isolation and denial of medication to humiliating strip searches and physical abuse.

The purpose of this show is meant to provide a basic overview of proven tactics for video taping police at demonstrations. Video cameras are, if properly employed, one of the most effective tools for documenting what occurs and containing excesses by the police. The majority of arrests are usually a form of control and harassment. During a typical demonstration they are usually for trivial things like "jaywalking or "offensive littering" (i.e. throwing a cigarette butt down in the street.) Other times, there may be blatantly over the top behaviors, even involving the use of chemical agents and projectile weapons, or circling hundreds of demonstrators followed by mass arrests. In any case, letting the police know that there’s a record being made and that they are accountable is one of the best ways for law-abiding citizens to control and prevent these harassing tactics.

So what happens when you believe that your civil rights have been violated by the LAPD or the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department? If you believe that you have been the victim of abuse by law enforcement than you have the right to report the incident and to file a lawsuit against the law enforcement agency, but the entire process can be a nightmare for individuals who do not understand the legal process of making a Government claim and therefore many incidents of police misconduct and abuse go unreported or fall into the cracks because there are very strict legal guidelines which must be followed along with a very narrow widow of time to file your grievance or lawsuit known as the “statute of limitation.” A statute of limitations is the deadline for filing a lawsuit. Most lawsuits MUST be filed within a certain amount of time. In general, once the statute of limitations on a case “runs out,” the legal claim is not valid any longer. In most cases, the victim of police abuse only has 6 months to file a claim against the government.

What is a Government Tort Claim? When a representative of the State of California or LA government is negligent and results in injury, there is a significant list of requirements that must be met and regulations that must be followed. There is a statute of limitations that further inhibits ability to file and win suits.

Join Carlos Montenegro to discuss the “pros & cons” of filing a Government claim and how to successfully file a personal injury claim against the City or County of Los Angeles for police misconduct.
