With an impressive body of work that encompasses both acting and singing, Gabrielle Christian is quickly emerging as one of Hollywood's most sought after talents. Gabrielle grew up in Maryland where she began performing with local theater groups and in school plays at 12. She landed her first leading television role opposite Kate Bosworth while she was still in high school, a part on the WB’s hit series Young Americans. After studying theater at the University of Pittsburgh, Gabrielle moved to Hollywood where she quickly landed roles on Without a Trace, What Should You Do?, Drake & Josh, Windfall, Numb3rs and CSI: Miami.Gabrielle has also appeared in a number of national television commercials including Time Warner Cable.
Gabrielle is most notable for her current role of Spencer Carlin on The N’s hit television series South of Nowhere. Her long-standing role on this award-winning teenage drama turned her into a recognizable face on the small screen. She has played both the lead and supporting characters in several independent films including South of Pico and American Gun.
After seeing Gabrielle’s performance on South of Nowhere, critically acclaimed director Angela Robinson contacted Gabrielle and offered her a part in the online webisode series Girltrash. Soon thereafter, Gabrielle was featured in another webisode series entitled 3-Way.
Gaby is also involved in many charities which we will also discuss along with her upcoming appearance at ClexaCon.

Shannon Watts is a mother of five who, prior to founding Moms Demand Action, was a stay-at-home mom and former communications executive. The day after the Sandy Hook tragedy, Shannon started a Facebook group with the message that all Americans can and should do more to reduce gun violence. The online conversation turned into grassroots movement of American mothers fighting for public safety measures that respect the Second Amendment and protect people from gun violence. Moms Demand Action has established a chapter in every state of the country and is part of Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in the country, with more than three million supporters.

Why Skirt Review? The word skirt was used as a pejorative word in the 30' and 40's and had a resurgence in the 90's. It is not a common term today but is used in some circles. It still connotes a label of women as objects in some ways so I have taken the name to transform it into a two hour show of power reusing the name as a form of strength, empowerment as the label not that of an object.

She was the first transgender woman of color to graduate from Mississippi University for Women with a B.S. in Public Health. Sandy Phillips has been an outspoken advocate for gun reform since her daughter, Jessica Redfield Ghawi, was murdered in the Aurora Theater Massacre in Colorado on July 20th 2012.
She and her husband sold everything, bought a used 26ft camper, and travel the country encouraging grassroots advocacy across the nation.
Their story is one of devastating loss that has been turned into inspirational purpose.

Joining us this Tuesday, October 18, will be Jon Cooper. Jon Cooper received a B.A. degree from Duke University in 1977. Since 1978, he has run Spectronics Corporation, a company based in Westbury, NY that is one of the largest manufacturing firms on Long Island. Spectronics manufactures more than 1,000 products for dozens of diverse markets, primarily in the field of ultraviolet lighting technology.
Jon and his husband, Robert, settled in Lloyd Harbor in 1983. They adopted five children, who now range in age from 31 to 21 years old.
Jon was elected in November 1999 to the Suffolk County Legislature. He served in office for 12 years, including six years as the Democratic Majority Leader. As a result of mandatory term limits, Jon retired from office on January 1, 2012.
Jon was honored by the Long Island Press as one of the "50 Most Powerful Long Islanders." In addition, Long Island Business News selected Jon as one of the “Ten Leaders Who Changed Long Island.”
Jon was the first elected official in New York State to endorse Barack Obama for President. During the 2008 election, he served as Obama’s Long Island Campaign Chair and was a member of his National Finance Committee. In 2012, Jon was Co-Chair for the Tri-State Region of Obama Victory Trustees, a major fundraising arm of the campaign. In 2015, Jon served as National Finance Chair for Draft Biden 2016. He is currently Chairman of the Democratic Coalition Against Trump, the nation’s largest grassroots anti-Donald Trump Super PAC.

We are honored to be joined with MJA and Together We Stand in the search of justice for Elizabeth Ann Gill. The show is Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at 3:00 CST - 5:00 CST. At 2 years and 10 months old, Elizabeth went missing from her front yard in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on June 13, 1965. While the family has an idea of who took Elizabeth, they have not been able to proove anything at this point. MJA began their investigation in 2012. There is a strong reason to believe Elizabeth is still alive while many say she stumbled into the Mississippi River. This is a fascinating case that our only wish is to unite these families. You know with all the cases we have done with MJA and Together We Stand, it has led to some serious issues that are being resolved. While, yes, we tend to be a political show, this is not one of the times. We work and stand together regardless of race, gender, political affiliations, etc. This is about justice for families and hopefully uniting this family in this particular case. Jason Marsden has served as executive director of the Matthew Shepard Foundation since July 1, 2009. He served as field director for the Wyoming Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign in 1994 before starting a seven-year career as a Casper Star-Tribune reporter, covering government, the environment, the energy industry and the state’s congressional delegation both from Casper and later from Washington, D.C. During the aftermath of the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard, a personal friend, Jason came out publicly in the newspaper’s pages and spoke frequently to journalism conferences and schools nationwide about coverage of hate crimes in local communities.

Emmy Award Winner Katherine Brooks began her career documenting life while living on the streets as a teenager. Her first short film was screened at the prestigious Directors Guild of America where it caught the attention of a network executive who gave Brooks her first break. After a decade of directing shows for NBC, ABC, Bravo and MTV, Katherine returned to her love of cinema, directing the highly acclaimed feature film Loving Annabelle. She followed with the feature film, Waking Madison.
Katherine was one of the youngest members to be inducted into the Directors Guild of America and is the President of the New Orleans based production company, Big Easy Pictures. Katherine is currently in post production on the feature film, Lost in Time. the story of a woman who was traveling in Thailand when the 2004 tsunami hit. Shannon Sherrill was a six year old playing hide and seek in her typical smalltown Indiana neighborhood. Then the one thing every parent fears came true for the parents of Shannon as they learned their daughter was abducted. While initial searches and investigations were done, it sadly became one of many way too many cold cases in America. She first received national attention for her activism at the funeral of murdered gay student Matthew Shepard; the two were friends in high school. For twelve years up until June 2015, she and Derek Hartley co-hosted the Derek and Romaine show on SiriusXM's OutQ.
Derek and Romaine launched their own independent online streaming network and returned to the air on January 4, 2016 via the show's website.

She is currently adapting her most recent short, Dissecting Gwen, into a half hour comedy for television.
She has appeared in numerous television shows in both Canada and the USA. She has a strong love for comedy performance and studied improvisation at the famous Groundlings Comedy School in California. She plays sorority dictator, Jacqueline Gill, in The Scarehouse, which was released by Universal Pictures across North America in 2015. On January 4, 2013, Mrs. Royce Eckley received the phone call any parent dreads. Her son, Marcus, was dead. She was told her son had comitted suicide. However, upon further investigation, all were lead to believe that this was not the case. Mrs. Eckley turned to all powers that be in Louisiana (where Marcus lived), and those calls were never returned. We want to help spread Marcus' story and just maybe someone listening can help. We have had this case on our show previously, but today is Marcus' birthday & we have made this a day of action.
Here are words from Mrs. Eckley regarding her son: "Marcus Anthony Merritt, Sr. was born May 25, 1975 and that was one of the happiest days of my life. He was my firstborn and only son. Growing up, he was a character, a real boy who enjoyed pretending he was a cowboy. I told him after he was grown that he truly turned into one because, he owned and loved riding his horses. When Marc was around, people tended to gravitate towards him, he made you feel at ease, laugh and genuinely welcome. He liked to cook out but, we knew if he was in charge of cooking IN, it was going to be hot dogs lol. Once Marc told me, " Momma, it couldn't have been easy for you being a woman to raise a man but, you did." That really made me feel good because, I did my best. He was truly loved by all who had the joy of knowing him and in turn we knew we were also loved. He was a wonderful Daddy who his kids adored. To be hugged by Marc was being hugged tightly and making you feel safe. I sure miss him and his hugs. I love him very, very much."

I am so pleased to announce Sunday's guest, Keith A. Beauchamp! Keith is an award winning filmmaker He attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, studying Criminal Justice with hopes of becoming a civil rights attorney. As a young man, Keith has his share of "run-ins"with racism which I hope he will discuss on the show. Keith decided after this incidents to move to New York City and this is where he began his film making career. Through this feat, Keith was able to tackle some of the past and present injustices that plague communities abroad.
In New York City, he obtained employment at Big Baby Films. The company focused on music video production.where he honed his skills behind the camera. After work, he dedicated much of his time researching Emmitt Till, his death, and all that followed. Keith also has a show on the ID network ( http://www.investigationdiscovery.com/tv-shows/injustice-files/ ).Keith was forever changed by the Jet magazine he saw at the age of ten which coveted young Emmitt's death.
We will talk more about this on the show, but his investigative journalism has led to files being reopened and he began collaboration with the FBI with it's "Cold Case" Initiative. Keith also opened his own company by this time - Till Freedom Comes Productions. Keith is currently working on two very important films and documentary which I want him to tell you about. (I cannot tell too much away - I want you to listen!) :) Needless to say, this is an important show to me.

Since 1989, the investigative reporter for The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, MS, has unearthed documents, cajoled suspects and witnesses, and quietly pursued evidence in the nation’s notorious killings from the civil rights era. His work helped put four Klansmen behind bars giving justice to these families: Medgar Evers; the four beautiful young ladies in the Birmingham church bombing; Vernon Dahmer; and, Chaney, Goodman, & Schwerner (aka, Mississippi Burning case)
After winning the prestigious George Polk Award for a second time, Mitchell received a MacArthur genius grant — only the second investigative reporter to ever receive the $500,000 award. Others have also noticed his work. In 1996, filmmakers portrayed him in the movie Ghosts of Mississippi about the reopening of the Medgar Evers assassination.
In October 1998, Mitchell was recognized a at the Kennedy Center in Washington. ABC's Chris Wallace told those gathered for the Anti-Defamation League event, "Jerry Mitchell isn't comfortable being called a hero, or being portrayed as one in the film, Ghosts of Mississippi. It is difficult, however, to find a better word than 'hero' to describe Jerry Mitchell. Today, justice has been served, and Sam Bowers and Byron De La Beckwith grow old in jail."
Mitchell received his degree in journalism at Harding University in 1982, a master’s in journalism from Ohio State University in 1997 & an honorary doctorate in law from Colby College in 2006.

Jennifer Riley-Collins, Executive Director of the ACLU of Mississippi, will join us to discuss the lawsuit ACLU of Misssissippi has filed today against the State of Mississippi specifically HB1523.
Ms. Riley-Collins is a native of Meridian, MS. She is a 1987 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Alcorn State University. In 1993, she earned her Masters of Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Central Texas in one year while serving on Active Duty as a primary staff officer. In 1997, she returned to Mississippi after receiving a merit based scholarship and in 1999 received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Mississippi College School of Law, graduating a full semester ahead of her classmates.
Ms. Riley-Collins is an attorney licensed to practice in both state and federal courts. An advocate for quality representation and equal justice for all she has been a speaker both across the country on issues related to providing zealous representation to juvenile clients. She has coordinated the legislative advocacy efforts aimed at reforming Mississippi’s juvenile justice system and de-institutionalizing at-risk youth. Ms. Riley-Collins has studied and written about the Mississippi juvenile justice system. These are merely a few examples of the great work by Ms. Riley-Collins. We will discuss more on the show!

We are fired up about the show today!! Drummer, and a kick ass one at that, Jyn Yates is joining us! We wil be discussing her new work as a female produceron her new record called Welcome To The Queendom by Femtronica. We will also be playing some of her songs from the new album.
Jyn is not new to the music scene by any means. Jyn was born to be a drummer sitting behind a kit for first time at the age of three. Born into a music family, she was touring well before the age of 10.. She has been involved in theater playing music in such shows as RENT, Girlfriend, The Color Purple, and many more. She has been involved in many music festivals including The Michigan Womyn's Music Fest. She has opened for the likes of Tim McGraw & more. She has played in many bands which we will disucss.
Jyn's current projects include the all-female Louisville dance band MA'AM Overboard & her LGBT electronic dance pop project Femtronica. Jyn also tours with Beverly McClellan of NBC's The Voice season one.

Adrianne was recently thrown into the spotlight this week when comments that were insensitive to Native Americans surfaced from a show by Ralphie May. Adrianne Chalepah is an American Indian (Kiowa/Apache) entertainer from Anadarko, Oklahoma. Growing up she experienced much hardship immersed in poverty and alcoholism; however, she’s believes this prepared her for a career in stand up comedy and motivational speaking, which began while attending Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, where she made her stage debut and studied filmmaking. In 2009 she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts; and in 2010 her comedy career took off when she teamed up with the popular comedy troupe 49 Laughs Comedy. Since then, Chalepah’s performances have gained recognition, landing her features in magazines and on television. In 2012 she was honored to open up for the First Lady Michelle Obama at a campaign event. Passionate about indigenous/female empowerment, she formed the world's only all-female, all-Native American comedy group, Ladies of Native Comedy. The stories of Clarion-Ledger investigative reporter Jerry Mitchell have helped put four Klansmen behind bars. A winner of a MacArthur genius grant and a Pulitzer Prize finalist.
Since 1989, the investigative reporter for The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, MS, has unearthed documents, cajoled suspects and witnesses, and quietly pursued evidence in the nation’s notorious killings from the civil rights era. His work helped put four Klansmen behind bars giving justice to these families: Medgar Evers; the four beautiful young ladies in the Birmingham church bombing; Vernon Dahmer; and, Chaney, Goodman, & Schwerner (aka sadly, Mississippi Burning case)
After winning the prestigious George Polk Award for a second time, Mitchell received a MacArthur genius grant — only the second investigative reporter to ever receive the $500,000 award. Others have also noticed his work. In 1996, filmmakers portrayed him in the movie Ghosts of Mississippi about the reopening of the Medgar Evers assassination.
In October 1998, Mitchell was recognized a at the Kennedy Center in Washington. ABC's Chris Wallace told those gathered for the Anti-Defamation League event, "Jerry Mitchell isn't comfortable being called a hero, or being portrayed as one in the film, Ghosts of Mississippi. It is difficult, however, to find a better word than 'hero' to describe Jerry Mitchell. Today, justice — long delayed — has been served, and Sam Bowers and Byron De La Beckwith grow old in jail."
Mitchell received his degree in journalism at Harding University in 1982, a master’s in journalism from Ohio State University in 1997 and an honorary doctorate in law from Colby College in 2006.

We are happy to introduce the next episode which will feature Dorsey R. Carson of Jackson, Mississippi. We will be discussing the full impact of Mississippi's "religious freedom" law also known as House Bill 1523. This bill has been passed by the Mississippi House and Senate.Towelroad has said many have been calling this bill "perhaps worst religious freedom bill To date."
Carson is the founding partner of Carson Law Group, PLLC in Jackson, Mississippi. Carson is a community advocate, with particular emphasis on improved education, job opportunities, public infrastructure, open government, and a reduction in the teenage pregnancy and infant mortality rates. Dorsey is on the Board of the Mississippi Chapter of the March of Dimes, where he serves as Chair of Public Affairs and Advocacy. Dorsey is also a 2013 "Pink Tie Guy" for the Central Mississippi Steel Magnolias Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. He is a believer in equality which goes without saying.
Carson is a Truman Partner in the Truman National Security Project, and is an active participant in the White House Business Council. Carson graduated from Mississippi State Universitywith his Bachelor's and also studied at King'sCollege in London, England. After this, Carson received his law degree from the University of Georgia.
