Governor Kathy Hochul placed an indoor mask mandate back in place, except for those places that have vaccine requirements, citing Delta and Omicron.

Biden remains steadfast in his mission to completely withdraw from the country no matter what happens, ordering 5000 troops into the capital to evacuate embassy staff and their families.
- The Senate has passed Biden's $1.2 trillion infrastructure proposal and has passed a key procedural hurdle to the accompanying $3.5 trillion human infrastructure proposal, setting up to give Biden a key legislative victory in the coming months after Congress comes back from its August recess.

In the background, however, the Governor released tax returns that showed he's set to receive more than $5 million of his own for his COVID leadership book, that he may have written using state resources.
- Biden finally wiped the sweat off his brow as Israel and Hamas announced an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire, celebrated the marking of 60% of Americans receiving at least one dose of the vaccine, pledging to send millions of vaccines to needy countries, and pitching a counteroffer to Republicans for his infrastructure proposal, which now has a $1.7 trillion price tag as opposed to $2.3 trillion.
- Not a good week for a certain someone named Trump, as New York Attorney General Letitia James said her civil investigation into the Trump Organization has now turned into a criminal one, reports showed Trump charging his Secret Service detail $400/night to stay at his Mar-a-Lago resort, and it was revealed Trump used the Dept of Justice during his tenure to get the personal phone and email records of journalists reporting on him.
- However, Republicans are going to bat for Trump, as they threw each under the bus to oppose the passage of a January 6th Commission to study the insurrection incited by Trump that day, as well as funding for increased security around the Capitol building.
- The Supreme Court sent shockwaves as it announced it'll hear a case revolving around a Mississippi abortion ban prohibiting the procedure after 15 weeks of pregnancy, with pro-choice activists biting their nails wondering if this is the one that conservatives hope would overturn Roe v. Wade.

- Congress hears more information about the January 6th insurrection, the House passes measures admitting Puerto Rico as the 51st state, creating a commission to study slavery reparations, and Pelosi invited Biden to speak to Congress at the end of April. Everything else will die in the Senate, as per normal.
- The Chauvin-Floyd trial is ending, with closing arguments set for next week, followed by jury deliberations, all occurring at the backdrop of at least three police brutality cases that all came out this week.

- Biden held his first press conference of his Presidency, touching on a wide range of subjects from his running for re-election to his immigration policies, mostly staying on message. The President also decried the mass shootings in Georgia and Colorado, asking for the Senate to pass the House's gun reform bills.
- The Senate is on recess until April 12th, at which point, will they take up infrastructure? Taxes? Gun reform? The only one who truly knows is Chuck Schumer.

THE 25TH HOUR Episode 19: January 10-16, 2021
NY keeps stumbling out of the gate with its vaccine rollout as the City builds an ineffective website - but it's the thought that counts! - and de Blasio warns that the vaccine supply will run out in a couple of weeks. Cuomo delivers his four(!) State of the State addresses outlining his priorities to save the state through new initiatives such as mobile sports betting and marijuana legalization, as well as new development projects and medical investments. Trump wants no part of this whole thing anymore, and despite saying his words inciting an insurrection were "perfect," he plans to fly back to his Florida resort the morning of Biden's inauguration. Congress is going to have to figure out how to multitask after a long time of not doing much of anything, juggling Biden's attempts to "rescue" the country while convicting a President already out of office. The Supreme Court told Texas Dems "no" to universal mail-in balloting and said "yes" to more executions. This has been the week of January 10-16, 2021.

For this week's review of November 15-21, 2020, THE 25TH HOUR brings you up to speed on what's happening with NYC school and business closures, Cuomo's continued COVID-fame tour, and Trump still being in hiding after losing the Presidential election to Biden.
With infection rates continuing to rise in NYC, de Blasio made a seemingly last-second decision to close city schools before closing businesses, leaving parents, kids, and teachers holding the proverbial bag, but the Mayor promised that businesses were next to be on the chopping block by December 1st. Cuomo promised to sue the Trump administration if a vaccine isn't equitably distributed to New Yorkers, and is also set to receive an International Emmy for his daily COVID press briefings. Biden is performing underground guerilla transition work while Trump's administration refuses to accept reality and ascertain Biden as the victor of the election. It's been a while since we saw Trump out and about, but he has been working tirelessly in the background to undermine state election certifications.

The Barrett hearings concluded this week, with a scheduled vote for the hearing to come out of committee set for October 22nd, the date of the third Presidential debate. The next Supreme Court session has begun, with the stakes for our country feeling like they have never been higher.
