G.I. Joe! SMASH
G.I. Joe issue 1
Incredible HULKIssue 430
It's a new episode of Comics with my Kids, as the Father and Son team review a new book and an old book. First up is G.I. Joe issue #1 by Skybound Image comics written by Joshua Williamson art by Tom Reilly. Logan gives us the synopsis of issue 1, the classic getting the team together book. This book picks up after the end of the Duke mini-series.
Logan tells us about the lineup of Joes. We have Rock N Roll, Stalker, Cover Girl, Clutch, Baroness, and Duke to round out the team. We also get an introduction to Cobra's hidden base in Springfield, USA.
Logan tells us the best bits he likes in the book while Dad talks about the introduction of the Baroness as a Joe instead of a Cobra Confederate.
Then it's on to Incredible Hulk Issue 430 a random Hulk issue from Logan's comic collection. Originally published in the mid 1990's this issue presents the supervillain Speedfreek. An augmented human that has super speed to battle the Hulk.
As per usual Dad and Logan discuss the high points of the book and the art style of Liam Sharpe a transplant from England that first got his start working of Marvel in the Marvel UK line of books.

Cobra Commander issues 1 through 4 Written by Joshua Williamson
Logan and Dad discuss what Logan is currently reading. Although this isn't a usual Comics with my Kids book as it's geared more for teens and pre-teens it is a fun book to talk about: Cobra Commander. Following the feel of the classic 80's comic and cartoon we learn a little bit about the commander in this new Energon Universe.
Dad, tells Logan a little bit about the history of Globulus and Nemesis Enforcer from the classic GI Joe movie. Logan talks about some of his favorite parts of the book. While Dad gives his Caveat to the listen about who should or shouldn't read this book.

This episode Logan and Dad do a deep dive on the new Transformers comic book from Skybound/Image comics written and drawn by Daniel Warren Johnson with Mike Spicer on Colors. Logan gives us the story beats as they go through each of the first three issues. Dad tells us about is love of DWJ art and the way Daniel draws the sound effects as part of the art.
Logan tells us what he enjoys most about the Transformers and eventually remembers some of the Decepticons names. Most importantly we let the listener know that this book may not be appropriate for a younger reader because of the violence and tragic death of characters. Comics with my Kids go to the NWI comic con. The family head out to the Northwest Indian comic convention at the Lake County Fairgrounds. Logan and Melody dressed up for the event and drug their parents along to carry all their stuff around the convention hall.
The crew also got to check out some cool costumes at the costume contest and Logan saw one of his favorite Fortnite characters. The only time you will get to see Snake-eyes and Man-Cake in the same room.Here is a recap of how they spent their day. Looking at so much cool art, books and memorabilia.

Comics with Two Dad's
Lee Searcey and Matt D. sit down for this special Two Dad's talking comics. Lee and Matt discuss introducing comic books to their own kids. As well as what it was like reading comics when they where kids.
Lee talks about getting X-Men #1 back in 1993 and what it was like reading that book and several others in that era. While Matt gives us a little more background on how he started reading comics from his father and experiencing the coverless books from the 60's and 70's.
These two dad's talk about introducing the next generation to the MCU and Lee talk's about his love for Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet. Then Lee brings up the most unusual item in the Marvel universe. The Thanos-copter.

From our trip to the NWI Comic Con last February, Logan finally gets to read and review Drew and Jot by one of his favorite creators Art Baltazar. I decided to break out a few of the comics and read them again with the young reader. We decided to review the first two issues. Logan Particularly enjoyed these books and gives them yet another 5 out of 5 for the two issues. Melody reads a few chapters as well as tell us her favorite ponies. This book is a 12 in 1 book for childeren to learn how to read. Melody loved this book so much that she wanted to share it with the world. She loves to read the stories as well as see what trouble the ponies get in and out of. From a parents stand point it has a good moral theme about friendship as well as teaches the kids about phonics and reading. NWI Comic ConNorth West Indian Comic Con - 2020 The Ninth Episode of Comics with My Kids, The whole family packed our bags and headed to the North West Indian Comic Con.
