When you're struggling in your marriage, it's easy to believe your happiness depends on what your partner does next.
That they'll finally change.
That you'll eventually know what to do.
That somehow you'll stop feeling so stuck.
But what if the perspectives keeping you trapped are the very things preventing you from moving forward?
In this episode, we're exploring three powerful mindset shifts that can help you step out of helplessness, reclaim your personal agency, and begin creating meaningful change—whether that ultimately heals your marriage, yourself, or both.
Inside this episode, we:* Explore how shifting your focus from changing your partner to growing yourself can transform the way you experience your marriage * Talk about why "I don't know what to do" often keeps us stuck—and the mindset that creates greater clarity and confidence * Uncover how victim thinking quietly steals your power and what it looks like to reclaim it * Discuss the difference between waiting for your circumstances to change and intentionally creating a life you're proud of * Learn how acceptance, boundaries, and personal responsibility can exist together without giving up on your marriage * Explore how one perspective shift can completely change the way you approach your relationship and your future
Whether you're feeling discouraged, uncertain, or emotionally exhausted, this episode will help you step out of survival mode and reconnect with the one thing you always have the power to change:
The way you choose to think, respond, and move forward.
Feeling at a crossroads? If this episode resonated with you and you're feeling uncertain about what to do next in your marriage, you don't have to figure it out alone.

Sometimes the biggest breakthroughs in your marriage don't come from changing what you do.
They come from changing how you see it.
The perspective you choose can either keep you stuck in hurt, resentment, and disconnection—or open the door to healing, understanding, and deeper connection.
Today we're continuing our 3-part series exploring three powerful perspective shifts - and we are focusing in on what will lead to healing - for you and/or your marriage.
Inside this episode, we:* Explore why "I don't care anymore" is often protecting a much deeper emotional truth—and how acknowledging that truth creates space for healing * Talk about the shift from focusing on blame to taking ownership of the parts of the relationship that are yours to grow * Uncover how embracing your differences instead of fighting them can deepen acceptance, compassion, and emotional intimacy * Learn how changing your perspective can soften defensiveness, increase vulnerability, and create new opportunities for connection * Discover why some of the most powerful shifts in a marriage begin long before your partner changes
Whether your marriage feels disconnected, strained, or simply in need of a reset, these perspective shifts will help you approach your relationship with greater clarity, compassion, and hope.
Because sometimes the first step toward healing your marriage is healing the way you see it.
Ready to go deeper? If this episode resonated with you and you're ready to stop feeling stuck in the same emotional patterns, this is exactly the work we do inside my customized private coaching programs.
Together, we'll uncover the deeper dynamics beneath your struggles, help you heal the patterns keeping you disconnected, and guide you in creating a marriage that feels safe, connected, and strong.

They do this without ever stopping to ask whether "fine" is really the marriage they want to build.
In this episode, we're exploring three simple perspective shifts that can change the way you approach your marriage—and open the door to greater connection, growth, and possibility.
Inside this episode, we:* Challenge the mindset of settling for "fine" when your marriage is capable of so much more * Explore how your beliefs about what's possible shape the decisions you make (or don't make) in your relationship * Uncover one of the most common thoughts that quietly keeps couples from taking action year after year * Talk about the difference between playing not to lose and intentionally building an extraordinary marriage * Offer practical ways to shift your thinking so you can begin creating the relationship you truly want—starting today
If you've been coasting along in a comfort zone, this is an invitation to create something that feels like a wow.

Most couples don't intentionally take action in their marriage until something feels wrong.
A major argument.
Growing distance.
A breaking point they can no longer ignore.
But what if waiting until your marriage is struggling is one of the biggest mistakes couples make?
In this episode, I share the six different types of couples I've observed over the years based on what motivates them to act in their relationship.
From reactive couples and those at a breaking point to proactive and relationally ambitious couples, you'll discover how your mindset toward growth is shaping the future of your marriage.
More importantly, I'll leave you with one important question:
What motivates you to take action in your marriage?
Whether your relationship is struggling, thriving, or somewhere in between, I hope this episode challenges you to think differently about what it means to intentionally create a marriage that continues to grow over time.
In last week's episode, we explored why feeling close to your spouse is one of the greatest gifts a marriage can offer.
But knowing why connection matters isn't enough.
In Part 2 of this series, we're talking about the intentional shifts that move couples from feeling distant and disconnected… to feeling closer, more connected, and more like true partners again.
Inside this episode, we:* Explore the mindset shifts that create the conditions for deeper connection * Talk about why your thoughts about your spouse matter more than you may realize * Uncover what often gets in the way of closeness—and how to begin moving through those obstacles * Discuss why staying connected to your deeper desire for your marriage changes how you approach conflict and disconnection * Explore the difference between simply spending time together and creating meaningful moments of connection * Help you think differently about what it really takes to build a relationship that feels emotionally close, safe, and strong
If you've been missing that feeling of truly being with your spouse—not just living alongside them—this episode will give you practical and meaningful ways to begin creating more connection.
Ready to create the marriage you've been longing for?If you're tired of feeling disconnected and you're ready to stop repeating the same patterns, this is exactly the work we do inside The Connected Marriage.

Most people know they want to feel closer to their spouse.
But have you ever stopped to consider what you're actually longing for?
Because the pain of disconnection isn't just about arguing less or communicating better.
It's about missing out on some of the most meaningful benefits a connected marriage can provide.
In Part 1 of this two-part series, we're exploring what becomes possible when you feel truly close to your spouse—and why that closeness matters so much.
Inside this episode, we:* Explore the emotional benefits of feeling deeply connected to your spouse * Talk about what it means to feel truly seen, known, and understood by another person * Uncover why emotional support can make life's challenges feel lighter and less lonely * Discuss the power of shared joy and having someone to celebrate life alongside you * Explore the difference between simply being married and feeling like a true partnership exists * Talk about the deep human need to feel chosen, valued, and prioritized * Explore how healthy marriages help us become more fully ourselves over time
If you've been feeling disconnected, lonely, or like you're simply going through the motions in your marriage, this episode will help you reconnect with what you're truly longing for—and why creating closeness is worth the effort.
Because one of the greatest gifts of marriage isn't simply having someone to do life with.
It's feeling deeply connected to the person you're doing life with.
Ready to create more connection in your marriage? If you're realizing how much you miss feeling close to your spouse—and you're ready to do something about it—this is exactly the work we do inside The Connected Marriage.

One of the biggest mistakes couples make is confusing facts with stories.
Over time, it's easy to start treating assumptions, interpretations, and conclusions as if they're objective truth.
And once that happens, resentment, conflict, and disconnection begin to grow.
In this episode, we're breaking down the difference between what actually happened—and the meaning you've assigned to it.
Inside this episode, we:* Explore the critical difference between facts and stories in relationships * Uncover the assumptions that quietly shape how you experience your partner * Look at why certain conclusions feel true, even when they may not be accurate * Discuss the role hurt, fear, and resentment play in the stories we create * Help you identify common relationship narratives that keep couples stuck * Offer practical questions that can help you challenge your thinking and create more understanding
When you learn to separate facts from stories, you create space for curiosity, clarity, and connection.
And that can change everything.

When you hear the phrase "trust issues," you probably think about infidelity.
But some of the most damaging trust issues in a marriage have nothing to do with cheating. In today's episode I share with you the specific ways I've seen trust issues create disconnection in marriage.
Inside this episode, we:* Uncover the subtle experiences that slowly erode trust over time * Look at how emotional responsiveness, consistency, and follow-through shape the quality of your relationship * Discuss why many trust issues are actually rooted in everyday interactions rather than major betrayals * Help you identify the experiences that may have taught you it isn't safe to depend on your partner * Explore what it takes to rebuild trust and create greater emotional safety and connection
If trust feels fragile in your relationship, this episode will help you understand why—and what can begin to repair it.

You can want a better marriage.
And still be staying the same.
Avoiding the discomfort.
Repeating the same patterns.
Reacting in the same ways—again and again.
And wondering why nothing really changes.

Marriage requires you to grow.
And what happens when you don’t.
Inside this episode, we:* Explore why growth isn’t optional if you want a strong, connected marriage * Look at the real cost of staying the same—emotionally, relationally, and over time * Break down the patterns that keep people from growing (even when they want to) * Uncover the role of discomfort—and why most people avoid the very thing that would change everything * Identify the key areas where growth is actually required in your relationship * Challenge you to consider the kind of partner you’re choosing to be
This episode is an invitation to take a deeper look at yourself—and to decide whether you’re willing to grow into the version of you your marriage actually needs.

This is how you move from feeling stuck or disconnected…to creating a relationship that feels safe, connected, and strong.

What actually creates connection in a relationship?
It’s not just about what you’re doing.
In this episode, we’re looking at what connection really is—and the conditions that need to be present for it to exist between you.
Inside this episode, we:* Break down why spending time together doesn’t always lead to feeling connected * Explore what connection actually is beyond conversation, time, or shared activities * Uncover the internal and relational conditions that make connection possible * Look at why connection can feel inconsistent—even when you’re trying * Help you understand the role your internal state plays in whether connection is created or missed * Identify what allows connection to feel natural, mutual, and real
When you understand connection this way…
You stop trying to force it.
And start creating the conditions that allow it to happen.

Emotional safety gets talked about a lot in relationships.
But if you’re honest, there are moments where something shifts, and you don’t feel safe anymore.
Maybe your partner said something a certain way.
Or didn’t respond how you needed them to. And suddenly, you feel guarded… distant… or unsure if it’s safe to open up.
In this episode, we’re looking at what emotional safety actually requires—and why it can feel so hard to create, even when you care deeply about each other.
Inside this episode, we:* Break down the difference between what disrupts emotional safety externally vs. what’s happening internally * Explore how your past experiences and attachment patterns shape how you interpret moments with your partner * Uncover why certain interactions feel so much bigger than the moment itself * Walk through the core conditions that actually create emotional safety in a relationship * Help you understand what allows you to stay open, grounded, and connected—even in difficult moments * Identify the kinds of experiences that teach your nervous system “it’s safe to be me here”
When you begin to understand emotional safety this way…
You stop looking for it in just one place.
And start learning how it’s created—within you and between you.
Ready to go deeper? If you’re listening to this and realizing you want more emotional safety in your relationship—but aren’t sure how to actually create it—this is the work I do with my private clients inside The Connected Marriage.

Today we’re looking at those moments where everything feels fine… until it suddenly isn’t. The conversation shifts. Your feelings get hurt. And before you know it, you’re in an argument that didn’t even need to happen.
If that feels familiar, there’s a deeper reason why.
And when you understand it, you stop getting pulled into the same cycle over and over again.
Inside this episode, we:
• Break down what actually happens in the moment a conversation takes a turn
• Look at how your mind quickly assigns meaning—and why that matters more than the comment itself
• Explore the emotional reaction that drives what you say next
• Walk through what’s happening on your partner’s side that you may not be considering
• Uncover the pattern that keeps these moments turning into bigger arguments
• Share the shift that helps you interrupt the cycle before it escalates
When you begin to see these moments differently, you don’t just handle them better, you change the entire direction of the conversation.
Mentioned in This Episode: The Connected Marriage - a private coaching experience where I help you go from feeling alone, frustrated, and disconnected in your marriage to feeling connected, supported, and truly together again. When you begin to see these patterns, you stop focusing only on how to explain yourself better, and start understanding what’s actually shaping the conversation in real time.

Conversations don’t break down because you don’t know what to say.
They break down because of what’s happening inside the conversation.
In this episode, we’re looking at the real reasons communication goes wrong in marriage—and why it keeps happening even when you’re trying your best to talk things through.
Inside this episode, we:* Explore how misperception leads you to react to meaning, not what was actually said * Talk about how needing something from your partner in the moment changes the energy of a conversation * Break down how judgment quietly enters and shuts down connection * Look at what happens when emotions get activated unexpectedly * Highlight why entering a conversation already dysregulated often determines how it unfolds
When you begin to see these patterns, you stop focusing only on what to say…and start understanding what’s actually shaping the conversation in real time. That’s where change becomes possible.

Today we are diving in to the difference between fixing your problems and transforming your marriage.
Most couples believe the problem they’re facing… is the problem.
The argument.
The disagreement.
The thing that keeps coming up again and again.
But what if that’s not actually what’s keeping you stuck?
In this episode, we move beneath the surface of conflict and into the dynamic that shapes how you show up with each other.
Because when you can see that clearly…
you’re no longer just trying to fix what’s happening.
You’re able to change it.
Inside this episode, we:
This is the difference between working on your problems…
and transforming your marriage.
If you’re realizing that the issue in your marriage may not actually be the issue… and you’re ready to understand the deeper dynamic shaping your relationship, this is the kind of work I help my clients do every day.
Through coaching, we slow the patterns down, bring awareness to what’s really happening, and create the shifts that lead to a more connected and supportive marriage.

If you want to improve your marriage, the answer isn’t usually one big change. It’s a series of small shifts in how you think, communicate, and show up for each other.
In this episode, I’m sharing six simple upgrades that can make a meaningful difference in your marriage — whether things feel good but could be deeper, or you’ve started to notice some distance between you.
We talk about:
• The internal shift you need to make before your marriage can truly change
• A small adjustment in how you show up that can alter the entire emotional dynamic between you
• The quiet way couples start seeing each other differently over time — and how to reverse it
• One communication shift that instantly changes the tone of difficult conversations
• Why the way most couples spend time together isn’t actually building connection
• The overlooked ingredient that brings energy, playfulness, and attraction back into a relationship
These shifts may sound simple, but they can dramatically change the emotional climate of a relationship.
If you’re ready for your marriage to feel more connected, intentional, and alive, this episode will give you a powerful place to start.
If you’re ready for your marriage to feel more connected, more intentional, and more aligned with the kind of relationship you actually want, the next step is a conversation. I work with women and couples who want to strengthen their marriage and create lasting change. You can book a consultation call with me HERE, and we’ll talk about what’s happening in your relationship and what’s possible from here.
Friendship is the quiet foundation of everything that makes marriage feel alive.
It’s what makes desire sustainable.
It’s what softens conflict.
It’s what creates emotional safety.
It’s what makes being married actually enjoyable.
In this episode, we explore why friendship fades in the first place — and why that doesn’t mean anything is terribly wrong. Sometimes it simply means you’ve entered a new season that requires more intention.
We talk about:
• The subtle ways couples grow apart over time
• How stress, misattunement, and negative assumptions reshape connection
• Why resentment often begins with small unmet needs
• The quiet power of emotional safety
• And why friendship is more strategic than sentimental
If you’ve found yourself thinking, “We’re fine… but we’re not as close,” this conversation is for you.
Becoming best friends again doesn’t require starting over.
It requires awareness.
Willingness.
And a shift in how you show up.
This episode will help you do just that.
And if you'd like to discuss joining my upcoming couples retreat, you can book a private application call with me here.
You don’t have to be fighting to be drifting.
In this episode, we’re unpacking the subtle types of disconnection that quietly creep into good marriages — long before resentment or crisis ever appear.
If your relationship feels stable but flatter than it once did… if you love each other but feel less captivated, less curious, less connected… this conversation is for you.
Inside this episode, you’ll learn:
Most marriages don’t fall apart dramatically. They slowly shift into autopilot.
The earlier you recognize the type of disconnection you’re experiencing, the easier it is to reset.
You don’t need a crisis to justify intention.
You just need awareness — and the willingness to act on it.
If this episode stirred something in you, that’s worth paying attention to.
I’m currently curating a small number of couples for the next Marriage UpGrade retreat — an intentional pause designed to restore connection, admiration, and desire. Learn more here.
In this episode, we’re talking about the quiet stage many couples find themselves in — not fighting, not falling apart… just operating on autopilot. Logistics over romance. Responsibilities over connection. “We’re fine” instead of “We’re thriving.”
If you want to:
This conversation is for you.
You’ll learn:
Marriage doesn’t become exciting by accident.
It becomes exciting when you decide to design it that way.
If you’re ready to move from “fine” to fully alive in your relationship, this episode will show you where to begin.
And for couples who want a deeper, immersive reset experience, The Marriage UpGrade retreat was created specifically for this stage — where love is present, but intention needs to be restored.
You don’t have to wait for distance to force change.
You can choose excitement now.
In this episode, we explore a deeper layer of pain that can exist in marriage—one that doesn’t always come from big betrayals or constant fighting, but from what happens slowly, quietly, and repeatedly over time.
You’ll walk away with a clearer understanding of:
This episode is for anyone who knows something is off, but hasn’t had language for it yet.

Conflict in marriage isn’t usually about the surface issue—it’s about what gets activated underneath.
In this episode, I’m breaking down what’s really driving the arguments, shutdowns, and emotional distance so many couples find themselves stuck in.
We’re talking about the emotions that are hardest to feel, the coping strategies that keep backfiring, and why reacting in the moment so often makes things worse—even when your intentions are good.
You’ll learn what actually creates emotional safety between partners, how to stay grounded instead of reactive, and why regulating your own emotional experience is the key to calmer conversations, fewer blowups, and deeper connection.
If you’re tired of feeling like you’re either walking on eggshells or stuck in the same fights on repeat, this conversation will help you see a new path forward.
If this episode is describing your marriage, don’t wait for the next argument to try to put these things in place. The help you need is available now to avoid that fight altogether.
I invite you to book a consultation call with me and explore exactly how working together in my private coaching program will help you have calmer, more connected conversations that actually end well. BOOK YOUR CALL HERE.
Have you ever walked away from a conversation with your partner thinking,
“We’ve talked about this so many times… why does nothing ever change?”
In this episode, we’re talking about stuck conversations—the ones that keep looping around emotional needs, help and support, or personal growth… without ever really moving the relationship forward.
I break down what’s actually happening beneath the surface of these repeated discussions—especially the common dynamic where one partner has a clear vision and unmet expectations for the relationship and the other doesn’t share that vision, doesn’t fully understand it, or quietly resists it
I'll also walk you through what actually needs to shift—not just what to say, but:
If you’ve been doing everything you know how to do—and still feel stuck—this episode will help you zoom out, see the pattern more clearly, and understand what might finally help break the cycle.
This is the Moment to Get Help:
These conversations don’t fix themselves—and repeating them without support often makes things worse. A private consultation call gives you the outside perspective and structure needed to finally break the cycle. You can BOOK YOUR CALL WITH ME HERE

In this episode, we zoom out and look at the stuck stage of marriage—what it really is, why so many couples end up here, and the different ways partners try to cope when forward movement feels impossible.
You’ll hear why “sweeping things under the rug,” trying harder in the same ways, or emotionally checking out can all keep couples locked in place—especially when you and your partner cope very differently. One of you may want to talk it through. The other may want space. And instead of helping, those differences can deepen the distance.
More importantly, we’ll talk about what actually helps couples move forward in a healthy, grounded way—without blame, pressure, or forcing change.
In this episode, you’ll learn:
This conversation is for couples who haven’t given up—but know they can’t keep doing things the same way and expect different results.
If you’re ready to stop spinning in place and start moving forward with intention, compassion, and clarity, this episode is for you.

If your marriage feels tense, distant, or emotionally exhausting right now, you’re not broken — you’re under-skilled.
Most couples who are struggling aren’t lacking love. They’re lacking the emotional tools to handle disappointment, resentment, stress, and unmet needs without turning against each other. So what comes out instead is criticism, shutdowns, defensiveness, and that painful feeling of being alone in the relationship.
In this episode, we talk about what it actually takes to love each other well when things aren’t easy — when you’re hurt, triggered, disconnected, or starting to wonder if you’re even on the same team anymore.
We look at the real foundations of a healthy partnership:
how to understand yourself, communicate without exploding or withdrawing, listen in a way that creates safety, show up with kindness instead of score-keeping, and keep choosing each other even when it feels hard.
You’ll start to see where your dynamic is breaking down — and more importantly, where there is still room for repair, closeness, and change.
This conversation is for couples who don’t want to give up, but don’t want to keep living like this either.
If you’re tired of feeling misunderstood, unseen, or emotionally alone in your marriage, this episode will help you understand what’s been missing — and what it would look like to start doing things differently.

It's here, The Well Made Woman Audio Drop!
I'm so excited to release this series to you.
In this episode, I share the story behind why I created this 13 episode series just for you, just for now.
I'll also discuss:
GET READY!!
In today’s episode, I invite you into a different kind of conversation about goals, progress, and what really creates change. Not the hustle-hard, push-yourself-more kind—but the kind that asks a more powerful question:
Who do I need to become in order for what I want to be inevitable?
I talk about why so many capable, thoughtful women understand what they want—but get stuck in the follow-through. Why knowing the steps isn’t the same as sustaining the transformation. And why the “in-between” phase—the part most people abandon—is actually where everything meaningful is happening.
You’ll hear how I think about progress through the Well Made Woman lens:
not as a finish line to reach, but as a way of living, thinking, and relating to yourself—especially when results aren’t immediately visible.
This episode is for you if:
If you’ve been wondering whether you’re off track… or simply still becoming—this conversation will help you see what’s actually required to keep going.
And to learn more about how The Well Made Woman Program can support you in becoming more of who you want to be, go here: https://drchavonne.com/wmw/
In this episode, I break down why your progress towards your goals and desires can feel slow at the end of the year—even when you’ve been trying, growing, and taking the necessary steps.
I explore the two very different conversations women tend to have with themselves when the things they expected or wanted to happen have not taken place yet.
One is the honest, data-driven look at what may have been missing—clarity, belief, direction, or support.
The other is a more grounded, self-led perspective that asks a deeper question: Who am I becoming in the process of wanting this?
You’ll hear why stalled progress isn’t usually a motivation problem—and why giving up often comes from misunderstanding what real change actually requires.
I share how I personally continue toward my own goals using the Well Made Woman process, and why I see it not as a finish-line mentality, but as a way of life.
This episode is for the woman who doesn’t want to abandon what she wants—but also doesn’t want to relate to her goals through pressure, shame, or blaming others.
If you’ve been wondering whether you missed something… or whether you’re simply still in the middle of becoming—this conversation will help you see your progress more clearly and decide how you want to move forward.

In this follow-up to last week’s episode, I’m sharing my side of A God Move—the powerful story my husband told about a life-changing encounter with a total stranger.
In this conversation, I open up about what was happening in my own world at that time, why his experience felt like divine confirmation, and how it represented an immediate answered prayer.
This moment reminded me that nothing in life is random. Even when you can’t see how things are coming together, God is already working for your good.
If you’ve been waiting for a sign that hope is not lost—this episode will speak to your heart and strengthen your faith that it all truly works out for you.
Today we’re celebrating 300 episodes of the podcast, and this conversation feels like one of the most meaningful ones I’ve ever shared.
In this episode, I’m taking you inside my own marriage to tell you a story that changed everything — one I call a God Move. It’s a story of divine timing, healing, and how God can use the most unexpected people and moments to remind us that He sees us, He hears us, and He’s always working for our good.
You’ll hear my husband share his own life-changing encounter — how a complete stranger spoke words that shifted how he saw himself as a man and as a partner.
The first time I heard him tell it, I cried for hours. It was that powerful.
Listen in to hear this story directly from him — and then come back next week when I’ll break down exactly why I call this a God Move, and what it revealed to me about love, faith, and transformation inside marriage.
In this episode, we’re unpacking what boundaries actually are (and what they’re not), why so many people only try to set them when they’re angry, and how to create limits that honor both you and the people you love.
You’ll learn how to:
If you’ve ever wondered how to protect your peace without losing connection—this conversation will show you how to do it with grace, strength, and self-trust.

What if your worth wasn’t something you had to earn—but something you already are?
In this episode, we explore what it truly means to live from the truth that your existence makes you worthy—and how that truth can transform what you allow yourself to receive - in life, marriage and your relationships.
Worthiness isn’t just a belief; it’s a daily practice. It’s the sacred recognition that your needs, wants, and desires aren’t indulgent—they’re valid expressions of a life and love that’s meant to feel good.
Inside, we explore:
If you’ve ever felt like no matter how much you do, it never feels like enough—this conversation will help you come home to yourself and the innate worth that’s been there all along.

Today’s episode is a special one — because instead of just hearing from me, you’ll get to hear directly from one of the women inside The Well Made Woman program.
She’s going to pull back the curtain on what really happens when you commit to your own growth — the fears that come up, the shifts that surprised her, the internal upgrades she didn’t even know she needed, and how she now thinks, feels, and moves through her life differently.
We talk about…
If you’ve been curious about The Well Made Woman, or you’ve felt the nudge to invest in your growth but haven’t fully said yes yet… this episode will either confirm what you're already feeling — or shift something inside you that you didn’t even realize was blocking you.

In this episode, we’re exploring what I call The Way of the Well-Made Woman —
the mindset, energy, and emotional maturity that separate the woman who’s constantly reacting to life from the woman who leads herself through it with peace, power, and grace.
This episode is for the woman, who has a voice inside saying: “I don’t want to keep living this way.”
Not because everything is falling apart — but because how she feels inside no longer matches the woman she knows she’s meant to be.
The Way of the Well-Made Woman is how you bridge that gap.
It’s how you start experiencing your life — and yourself — differently.
In this conversation, I’ll share three distinctions that define a self-led woman — the ways she thinks, chooses, and responds that change everything.
You’ll walk away with reflection questions and practices to help you live with more gratitude, confidence, and grounded calm — starting today.
If you’re ready to stop running on autopilot and start leading yourself with intention, this is your invitation.

In this episode, we’re having an honest conversation no one else in your life probably will — about the subtle, everyday ways we create our own suffering, and how to gently pull yourself out of that negative spiral.
You’ll learn how to:
This isn’t about toxic positivity or pretending everything’s fine.
It’s about reclaiming your emotional power — learning to see yourself and your life through a lens that brings healing instead of hurt.
If you’re ready to feel lighter, calmer, and more in charge of how you experience your life, this one’s for you.

Just like investing in property or stocks for long-term gain, emotional wealth is built by consistently investing in how you think, how you feel, and how you choose to respond… no matter what’s happening around you.
We’ll talk about:
This isn’t about being positive all the time.
It’s about becoming emotionally abundant — able to feel deeply, recover quickly, and move through life with grounded confidence.
If you've ever wanted to feel unshakeable, more at peace, and truly proud of who you're becoming — this conversation will shift the way you see emotional growth forever.

Early Enrollment opens September 23-30.
When it comes to your marriage, progress doesn’t come from one big breakthrough conversation or waiting for your partner to suddenly change. Progress comes from habits.
Not the once-in-a-while things you do when you’re on your best behavior, but the predictable patterns you fall into over and over again.
In this episode, we’re talking about how to recognize these habits for what they are, and—more importantly—how to start changing them so you can create a different experience in your marriage.
You’ll learn:
How to spot the patterns that keep pulling you both back into the same fights.
Why self-awareness is the first step in shifting your behavior.
What it takes to experiment with new ways of responding—and why that matters.
How to create systems and structures (like code words or marriage check-ins) that make new habits stick.
And why celebrating small wins is just as important as the big breakthroughs.
If nothing changes about what you do, nothing changes about what you experience. But once you start shifting your habits, you’ll not only make progress—you’ll transform who you are to each other.
In this episode, we’re breaking down why managing your emotions is the key to making real progress in your marriage.
You’ll learn:

So many of the ways we show up in our relationships—how we communicate, how we love, how we cope—aren’t actually conscious choices.
They’re inherited. Programmed. Conditioned from what we saw, experienced, or learned growing up.
In this episode, we’re talking about three ways of being you may have learned that are quietly wrecking the quality of your relationships—and your own personal peace.
You’ll hear how these patterns show up:
-When you’re constantly blaming others but feeling stuck
-When love becomes a reward instead of a reflection of who you want to be
-When avoiding your emotions becomes your way of coping—but keeps you disconnected from your own life
This is about unlearning the old survival strategies and stepping into a more grounded, emotionally resilient, and soul-aligned version of yourself.
It’s not easy work, but it’s the kind of work that changes everything.
If you’ve been feeling unfulfilled, irritated, or just tired of the way things feel in your marriage or within yourself—this conversation is for you.
In this episode, we’re unpacking exactly what happens when the anxious partner brings up an issue…and the avoidant partner immediately feels overwhelmed, blamed, or like they’re walking into another argument they didn’t ask for.
You’ll learn:
We’ll also talk about what it means to be a wounded partner vs. a wounding partner—and how this shift in mindset can change the tone of your conversations and help you actually hear and be heard.
If your marriage feels like one long loop of misunderstanding and miscommunication, and you’re both tired of repeating the same fight with different words…
This episode will give you a new perspective—and the tools to finally begin creating connection, instead of more conflict.
And for more help on creating more productive conversations and using your communication to bring you CLOSER as a couple, I invite you to consider one of my coaching programs. You can learn more here: https://drchavonne.com/work-with-me/
In today’s episode, we’re diving into one of the most emotionally complex and frustrating dynamics between partners—what happens when one of you is anxiously tuned in to every emotion, every disconnect, every nuance…essentially hyper-self aware...
And the other is not able to see what's happening, unaware of the emotions often driving them, and has a harder time communicating what's going on for them...essentially lacking self awareness...
We’re breaking down why this mismatch in self-awareness and emotional processing leads to blame, shame, shutdowns, and emotional spirals—and how to begin shifting that pattern.
You’ll hear:
But more importantly—we’ll talk about what to do next. What actually helps. And how to start creating a new rhythm between you that leaves you both feeling seen, respected, and more connected.
If you’ve been feeling like you’re the only one clued in to what's happening…or if you’ve felt like your partner is always psychoanalyzing you—this episode is for you.

In today’s episode, we’re unpacking one of the most frustrating—and misunderstood—dynamics in a relationship: the anxious partner who longs for emotional validation, and the avoidant partner who’s just trying not to drown in overwhelm.
If you’ve ever found yourself needing your partner to get what you’re feeling and help you through it…
Or if you’ve ever felt like your partner’s emotions are a test you’re destined to fail…
You’re in the right place.
We’re getting to the root of what’s really going on underneath these reactions:
This episode will give you insight into your nervous system responses, the deeper emotional fears you might not even realize are running the show, and—most importantly—what to do about it.
Because once you understand the real reason this feels so hard, you’ll finally have a clear direction forward. One that doesn’t involve blaming, fixing, or giving up.r

Have you ever felt desperate for more connection in your marriage—wanting to talk more, do more things together, feel like you're truly on the same page—but no matter how hard you try, your partner just doesn’t seem to meet you there?
Or maybe you're on the other side—feeling like your partner always needs more from you than you can give, and all you want is a little space to think, breathe, and just be without feeling like you're letting them down.
If either of those sound familiar, you're not alone—and you’re likely caught in the anxious-avoidant dynamic.
In this episode, we’re unpacking that exact struggle: what happens when one partner craves closeness and the other craves space. When one feels rejected, and the other feels pressured. When you both want peace, but your patterns keep pushing each other further apart.
You’ll learn:
This is one of the most common dynamics I work with—and the good news is: healing is absolutely possible when you understand the deeper needs underneath the behavior.
In today’s episode, we’re breaking down the emotional tug-of-war between anxious and avoidant partners—and why it’s so hard to stop, even when you both want things to be better.
You’ll hear the real fears driving this dynamic:
We’re going deeper than just communication tips—this is about the belief systems that live underneath your patterns. The unconscious drivers that have you stuck in criticism, defensiveness, shutdown, and silent suffering.
If you’ve ever thought, “Why do we keep having the same arguments?”
Or felt like, “No matter how hard I try, I still don’t feel close to my partner…”
This episode will help you understand why—and what to do instead.
Because real change happens when you understand what’s really going on inside you… and inside each other.

You’ve probably heard the phrase “own your emotions”—but what does that actually mean in a marriage?
Does it mean your partner gets a free pass to ignore your feelings?
Does it mean you’re supposed to just “deal with it” when you’re hurt or disconnected?
Not even close.
In this episode, we’re unpacking the delicate balance between emotional self-responsibility and relational needs.
Because here’s the truth:
Yes, your feelings are yours.
But that doesn’t mean your relationship shouldn’t feel good.
This conversation is for you if you’ve ever felt stuck between two extremes:
“I shouldn’t depend on my partner for how I feel”
and
“But I also want to feel loved, valued, and supported in this relationship.”
We’re diving deep into how to own your triggers without abandoning your needs, and how to express those needs in a way that builds true emotional safety and closeness in your marriage.
This is where emotional intelligence meets healthy interdependence—and it might just change the way you show up in your relationship from this point forward.

Diana's story is that of a woman who is committed to finding her place of power rather than always blaming her husband.
Through our work together in The Well Made Woman, she realized how much of her resentment and frustration came from not being able to see her role, and not doing things to create better situations for herself.
In this episode we talk about her Transformational Goal, and how achieving that goal has had immense ripple effects in her life - not only herself, her marriage, but also her parenting, and now her career.
What's even more exciting about this interview is that Diana completed The Well Made Woman Program over a year ago. You'll have the opportunity to hear what an initial investment in herself and her growth 18 months ago has created for her even now. I could not be more proud of her progress.

Whose opinion do you value the most? If the answer is anyone other than yourself, this episode will be eye-opening. We are conditioned from an early age to please others. To change the way we operate to accommodate how others feel.
As children this makes sense - it's essential for our survival.
But as adults, and especially in marriage, we want to cultivate the skill of internal validation. When you value, acknowledge and appreciate your own feelings, perspectives and needs, you become less co-dependent on your spouse to always agree with you.
A healthy, happy marriage requires TWO healthy, happy people. Mastering the skill of internal validation is one important way to create that.
Tune in to this episode as I break down the steps to doing so, and help you overcome the obstacles that have already been in your way.

One of the most important distinctions you need to be able to make in your marriage is what is healthy vs. what is unhealthy.
So much unhappiness and conflict arises when one or both of you are operating from a relationally UNhealthy place.
In our episode today I'm breaking down the most common unhealthy dynamics I see - both those that I would considered "marital neglect" and those that I would define as "marital aggress".
When you clearly understand what is healthy and what is not, you are more able to see yourself, your marriage and your partner more clearly.
You understand what's yours to own and work on, vs. the work that belongs to them.
You also open the door to breaking some of the dysfunctional patterns you may have grown up with as a child.

Anger. It's an emotion so many of us feel. And when I speak to women who are trying to address their anger, it usually involves blaming others. As human beings we are wired to protect ourselves by NOT looking inside to find answers. It's easier to look at what other people are or are not doing.
Yet, so often the REAL, CORE reason we feel anger in our lives has a lot to do with what I've defined as internal anger. The part of you that's angry at you.
In this episode of the podcast I dive into this concept and topic and provide some very specific examples of what it looks like to operate with internal anger.
When you can pinpoint the real and true source of your anger - you can actually shift it and then live a life that feels more authentic, at peace and enjoyable to you.
Tune into this episode and uncover where you might be angry at yourself and what to do about it.

I'll be showing you EXACTLY what to do so you can actually implement those boundaries, honor your needs and still maintain a loving connection with those you love.
I look forward to seeing you there!
We live in a culture that would have us wear self-sacrifice like a badge of honor.
When we speak highly of others, it is usually touting how giving they are, how much they do for others, how they seem to accomplish so much.
Rarely do we hear accolades for how well a person took care of themselves, how they set healthy boundaries, how they prioritized their needs and goals.
Yet it is the latter that is associated with a greater sense of well-being, fulfillment, and happier, healthier relationships.
In today's episode, we're diving into the topic of self sacrifice - why we do it, the hidden benefits that keep us in this cycle, and 3 empowering questions that will radically change your perspective.

One of the reasons couples have a hard time communicating is because they are not appropriately prepared for all the directions a conversation can go.
Often people come to me wanting to know how to handle certain situations that have happened and not gone well.
The key is to learn from what went wrong and to focus your energy on the most important aspects of creating a positive interaction.

In this podcast episode, I give you the process for how to be prepared for anything - any conversation, and any interaction with your partner.
There is a mindset you must adopt in addition to practical steps to take.

You are more self aware, working through your triggers, showing up as a better partner.
Yet, it seems like your spouse is stuck with the same issues, reactions and mentality that made your marriage hard in the first place.
It can be confusing for what you should do.
Do you just need to be more patient?
Will they ever come around?
How can you find happiness with someone who's not moving in the same direction you are?
I address these common questions inside this podcast episode.
This is a conversation where we normalize different rates of growth and transformation because that's what happens in marriage.
You grow, evolve and change at different paces.
Tune in to find out why this happens, and more importantly, what you can do to keep yourself well and on track with your personal growth.
I'll break down 5 specific steps to take, and also leave you with a pep talk to encourage you to keep going with your inner work so that you have more peace and fulfillment as your spouse walks their own journey.
Mentioned in this episode: I have openings for private coaching, or my group program, The Marriage UpGrade. If you are ready to improve the quality of your marriage, or learn how to be less affected by your spouse, I'd love to support you.

There will be times in your marriage and life where it feels like you don't know what to do. The choices and next steps feel overwhelming. You have resistance or confusion about how to get unstuck.
Don't believe the lie.
Confusion, and :"not knowing what to do" is just your brain''s way of protecting you and keeping you in the same place.
In my years of coaching so many clients, I find that most times, we are not confused and in fact know what to do. Yet there are obstacles and limiting beliefs that make if difficult to see a path forward.
In this episode, I break down exactly what those obstacles are, where they come from, and what they are trying to do.
I also share a specific process for moving yourself from a place of not knowing to a place of greater clarity and certainty in your next action or decision.
This is a great episode to help you move forward in your marriage or in any other area in life.
Also mentioned in this episode: My 6-month coaching program, The Marriage UpGrade, is re-opening for enrollment. If you still want to join the Fall 2023 Cohort, now is the time to get in. One of the quickest improvements my clients experience is being able to recover more quickly from an argument. They are able to reflect on what happened and reach out to each other in a loving way to make amends.
Recovering from arguments quickly gives you more time to enjoy with each other, and less time spent not talking, feeling frustrated and resentful.
If this is something you struggle with, this podcast episode will take you through a series of questions that help you to recover more quickly from an argument.
By answering the questions presented, here's what you'll get:
-a deeper understanding of why sometimes you might not be ready to move on from an argument, and how to know what you need to feel better
-clarity around what was disappointing in your interaction and why it bothered you so much so you can get your needs met
-a vulnerable way to express how you're feeling so you can create a heart-to-heart connection with your spouse
-motivation to communicate from a place of love for yourself and your partner so you can recover in self-honoring ways instead of people-pleasing just to move on.
This is an episode you can return back to time and time again after any difficult conversations.
Also mentioned in this episode is the opportunity to work with me directly. You can learn more about my private and group coaching programs here: drchavonne.com

You resist expressing your love when it feels unreciprocated.
You resist taking a long look at yourself and how you are contributing to your issues.
You resist letting go of resentment and continue to hold a grudge.
These are normal experiences that many people go through.
There are a number of reasons you may be experiencing resistance right now.
In this podcast episode I break down the 7 most common reasons I see among my clients and give you some specific next steps to take to move yourself forward.
Tune in and learn:
-what resistance in marriage looks like and how to know if this is where you are

The beliefs you adopt about your spouse, your marriage, and yourself matter. They create a lens by which you see everything you experience.
Many times when I'm working with couples, they have biased perspectives. They hold on to disappointments and frustrations of the past, and bring them into their present-day interactions.
They focus on what their spouse is doing wrong rather than taking personal responsibility.
They stay stuck re-hashing the problem instead of focusing on solutions.
In this episode, I dive into each of these topics and share how and why they keep you stuck feeling annoyed, frustrated, and unhappy.
I share with you some solutions and new perspectives to adopt so that you are more open, and available to actually experiencing more of the marriage you want.

This is 46.
I recently celebrated my birthday and found myself conflicted at how to respond to the many text messages and calls from loved ones wishing me the happiest celebration.
I am so grateful for my life AND have also been surprised by how down my emotions have felt the past couples of days.
For many of us, we expect to "arrive" in our forties. To feel more confident and self assured. But less talked about are the feelings and thoughts we can experience that make us feel inadequate, uncertain and questioning who we are in this world - even in midlife.
Join me in this podcast episode where I share vulnerably what it's currently like for me in at 46. Like you, I have a human brain that offers me thoughts which create feelings and experiences like self-loathing, comparison, anxiety, body image issues, and inner child triggers.
I also share how I am navigating these issues in my life with both the specific mindset I had adopted and the specific steps I am taking to care for myself and my emotions.
No matter what your age, if you are struggling with any of these issues, you'll find this episode, extremely honest, relatable, and full of value as you walk through your own life.
Feeling annoyed with your spouse is a normal, common thing that all couples experience.
There is no shame in acknowledging and recognizing this.
The better you are at understanding and processing emotions like annoyance, frustration and irritation, the better you can deal with any trigger in your marriage.
In this episode, I’ll teach you my 5-step process that explicitly answers the question, “what do I do when I’m so annoyed with my spouse?”
You’ll walk away with a better understanding of the purpose of your annoyance, how it can serve you and your marriage, and how to respond to this feeling in ways that help you understand yourself better. Applying these steps will help you remain grounded and have more conversations that lead to productive resolutions that you feel good about.
Vulnerability is one of the most important skills to develop in order to have a deep and meaningful connection with your spouse.
The more vulnerable you are, the more you allow them to truly see, understand and accept you.
Yet, there are so many factors AGAINST us being vulnerable in marriage.
In this podcast episode I talk about why it's hard to be vulnerable, how to overcome those challenges, and offer some initial questions and steps to take in order to create more vulnerability in your marriage.
Being vulnerable start first with being honest, loving, and compassionate with yourself. When you are able to do this, you can be more vulnerable with less fear.
I also share vulnerably from my own heart something I am working on in my own life that I hope allows you to see just how human we ALL are.
If you are wanting a deeper connection in your marriage, where your conversations go beyond surface level topics, I invite you to consider working with me in one of my coaching programs. To learn more, go to my website: drchavonne.com
How well do you know yourself? It's an important question to consider. The degree to which you truly know, understand, and acknowledge yourself is an important factor in how satisfied you will be in your marriage.
When you deeply know yourself, you can live a life that is truly aligned and brings you fulfillment. You are less dependent on your spouse NEEDING to show up a certain way. Your emotions are more regulated and you are less likely to argue, lash out or shut down in conversations.
Knowing yourself is the key to being able to make the right requests, set boundaries, and communicate your feelings and needs.
It's a foundational skill in having a better marriage.
In this episode, I share with you the 10 Essential Things to Know About Yourself. Spend some time going through each one and rate yourself on how well you are doing. Then pick one to focus on for the week.

Today is Valentine’s Day.
No matter how you are feeling about your spouse and marriage today, I want to invite you to experience and lead with love.
On the podcast today, we are diving into the question, “what would love do?”
I share some of the most common situations and experiences couples encounter that make it difficult to lead with love in the traditional sense - being kind, loving, and reaching out to each other for connection.
If you struggle to lead with love when it feels like your spouse is not making an effort, is too critical, or dismissive of what you feel - then this episode will provide you with a valuable perspective that helps you make sense of your experience and honors your reality. I offer tangible, practical advice that makes navigating these situations so much easier for you.
I dive into the idea that leading yourself with love means you take exquisite care of your own emotions, process what you are feeling, and feel better within yourself first. When you do this, it becomes easier to open yourself up to understand your spouse, and ultimately focus on your goal of having a better marriage.
There is no better feeling in the world than love. I want you to experience it at higher and deeper levels, not only today, but every day. Use this episode to help you start doing that from the inside out. Join us inside The Marriage UpGrade to master it for the rest of your marriage: MarriageUpGrade.DrChavonne.com

Do you have the thought, "my spouse is not making any effort?"
If so, this podcast episode is for YOU.
I'll share with you the specific 5 reasons you are having this belief and exactly what to do about it.
Brace yourself, because this is a loving wake up call.
This is an unhelpful thought pattern that snowballs on itself to create more disappointment, frustration and disconnection.

This episode will help you do just that.
Today we are diving into the topic of having an ALL IN Mentality for your marriage.
This is one of the key differences between couples who make the improvements they want in their marriage, versus couples who stay stuck or ultimately separate.
When you have an ALL IN Mentality, you approach your challenges from a different perspective. You see them as learning and growth opportunities.
You keep going, even when it's hard. You get the help you need, even if it feels a bit vulnerable.
Listen in as I show you what happens when you are willing to go all in, and the results you can expect to come to you.

In this training replay you will learn all about the concept of The Finnish Line Mentality.
This is literally one of the MOST important concepts I teach.
Everything you create in life has to have a clear vision of what you want.
You have to spend time focused on the goals you have for the FUTURE, more than the disappointments of your PAST.
I dive deep into this concept because it is the difference maker for couples who create the kind of marriage they want, vs. couples who stay stuck in a marriage that feels disappointing.
Having a finish line mentality will help you to overcome any argument, tension, distance, or frustration in your marriage. It's always guiding you as a North Star.
This is something you will master inside The Marriage UpGrade, my new coaching program for couples.

The experience you have in your marriage is based on three perspectives and in today's podcast episode, I'll break down exactly what they are.
There are a certain set of beliefs that most people have when it comes to these three "sides" of the triangle and they cause frustration, disappointment, and unhappiness. But when you are able to shift your perspective and find new ways of seeing things that serve you and the kind of marriage you want to create, everything changes.
Perception really is reality. And today, I'll take you through how to start creating a new and better reality in your marriage by focusing on three specific types of thoughts.
Marriage is spiritual. I think it's something we all know, but don't always access the full range of resources available to us on a spiritual level to ensure our marriage thrive.
In this episode we are diving into the spiritual side of things and discussing how many of the things we need to do in order to have healthy marriages defy our natural human tendencies. I share how tapping into the power available to us from God helps us overcome our own roadblocks to loving each other well.
I offer specific ways to incorporate spirituality into your marriage so that you and your spouse improve the experience you have with each other.
If you are ready to elevate how you show up, and the experience you have in your marriage, this episode is for you.

On this episode we are talking all about the purpose of marriage. How you define what marriage is about drives everything about how you show up.
I offer a perspective on marriage that will massively inform your goals, how you see yourself and your spouse. The way you see the purpose of marriage also significantly influences how you experience happiness and fulfillment.
Tune in now to get yourself grounded in your purpose driven marriage now.
We live in a world where it's not the norm to celebrate yourself. We worry about appearing "too much" or offending someone by doing big, amazing things for ourselves. But the degree to which you are able to love and celebrate yourself is the degree to which you can receive that from others.
In this episode, I'm sharing more on the concept of celebrating yourself, why it's so important, and the impact it has on your marriage. I leave you with specific ways you can start incorporating this practice now.
I recently celebrated my birthday in a big way and give you the inside scoop into what that experience was like for me.

I am excited to share with you a really fun, powerful, and eye-opening conversation that took place a few months ago at the Millennial Marriage Toolkit Summit hosted by fellow marriage coach Shivonne Davis.
This was a deeply soul-stirring interview where we talked about God, marriage, and where I shared some life coaching tools along with Christian faith principles that you can use to improve your marriage and love each other well.
In this episode we discuss:
Ready to sharpen your marriage so that it can get restored to its original intent? This conversation will definitely bring you some clarity on how to do that. Press play to learn more.
Are you loving this 3 part training on fight-free holiday? I had a wonderful time presenting this information to you and I know that you were able to gain some valuable insight that you can utilize to make this holiday season fight-free.
If you've been following along, day one was all about how to avoid arguments in the first place. Day two, we talked about how to de-escalate arguments, when you're in the middle of a conversation that's going down a road you don't want it to and today we are wrapping up with a discussion about how to recover after a conversation goes wrong.
I want to offer you that no one of those three things is better than the other. It's not necessarily better to avoid arguments or to prevent intense conversations from turning into arguments, or recovering. They're all equally valuable and important strategies to help you make your marriage better.
And so in this episode, I will share with you five points as it relates to the mindset of recovering because there is a certain way that you have to think about tense moments or difficult conversations or arguments that will help you recover well. Specifically, you will learn to think of these experiences as…
Press play now to learn more about how to actually recover after a conversation goes wrong.
Today we are continuing with Part 2 of our Fight-Free Holiday training and discussing how to de-escalate arguments.
It’s impossible to never have a disagreement. That’s not even the goal.
But when you do find your conversations veering off track, and you want to end on a good note, this episode will show you exactly what to do.
De-escalating arguments requires a different skill set than avoiding arguments.
That’s because there is actually a certain mindset that creates arguments in the first place.
In this episode you will learn:
There are a lot of gems in this episode, I encourage you to grab a pen and a notebook so you can jot down these nuggets and laser in on the one strategy that you will apply in your marriage.
This is my absolute favorite time of the year. The period between Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year is a time of major celebration for me and my family but I also recognize that while the holidays may be the most wonderful time of the year for some, that's not necessarily true when it comes to relationships.
When you're already struggling in your marriage, it can be a challenging time during the holiday season where you have the gatherings and additional time together than you might during other parts of the year, which can create a lot more opportunities for conflict and issues. And so in honor of this time of year, I want to provide you with an amazing resource that I created that will help you get through the holidays, fight free.
In this episode, we are going to discuss avoiding arguments in the first place. I'm sure all of us would like to have many fewer arguments or difficult conversations that don't end well. Specifically, you’ll learn:
I encourage you to grab a pen and a notebook so you can jot down these nuggets and laser in on what is most applicable and relevant for you.
In general, a trigger is anything including memories, experiences, or events that sparks an intense emotional reaction, regardless of your current mood. On any given day, you probably experience a range of emotions such as excitement, unease, frustration, joy, disappointment. Your response to these events can vary based on your frame of mind and the circumstances surrounding the situation.
In marriage, a trigger is defined as an intense reaction to anything your spouse says or does. These triggers are usually there to teach us something, however, we don't pause to learn what the trigger is teaching us. Instead, it usually leads to us overreacting and arguments. That's why knowing what your triggers are and how to deal with them at the moment is important.
In this episode of the podcast, I share five steps you can use to handle your triggers at the moment and avoid tension in your marriage.
One of the greatest human needs is to connect. To be seen, heard, and known by a person you care about deeply.
When couples can’t connect, they experience communication breakdowns, unnecessary arguments, they don’t operate as a team, and they feel lonely.
However, men and women are wired to connect differently, and these differences are often misunderstood. Knowing and accepting these differences helps you to work with them instead of against them.
In this episode of the podcast, I share the steps to creating the kind of connection you want in your marriage. Specifically, you’ll learn:
If you’ve been struggling to connect and feel like your marriage operates on a surface level, this episode will really help you make progress.
Being married is the bringing together of two completely different people with two completely different ways of thinking, being, and operating in the world. There will be times when you don’t understand or agree with your spouse. In those moments, it is human nature to judge the other person as wrong. But judging each other only leads to conflict, tension, and distance - the exact things you DON’T want in your marriage.
In this podcast episode, we are tackling the topic of judgment. Here’s what you will learn:
This is the topic everyone is thinking about wanting help with and that help is finally here. Tune in now to address judgment in your marriage, and move into greater acceptance, understanding, and love for each other.
When it comes to relationships, we don't think of ourselves as being in need of skills, especially in marriage, because what brings us together most times is this natural organic connection for each other. It's not something we're even consciously working to create, it's just there. But it does take a certain set of skills to maintain the kind of marriage you want. You must be constantly aware of developing, cultivating, mastering specific skills to create the experience that you want together. And so that's what we're going to be talking about today.
In this episode, I’m sharing the 5 most essential skills you need in order for your marriage to thrive.
In addition, you will learn
As you listen to this episode, I want you to keep in mind, what is the marriage that you want? What is the relationship with each other that you would like to have? How do you want to be feeling? How do you want to be thinking about each other and treating each other and interacting with each other? Because whatever you want, if you're not currently experiencing it, there is a gap. And that gap includes a gap in skills. Press play to learn what these skills are, why they are important and how to cultivate them so that you can thoroughly enjoy your marriage.

If you are interested in changing your life for the better, speaking with someone who is a professional in helping others meet the outcomes that will bring them success and fulfillment in all areas of life can be extremely helpful.
Therapy, coaching, and counseling are three services that can provide this type of assistance. These services have helped countless people live their best lives, but they are often confused. Although coaching, therapy, and counseling occasionally help clients with similar problems, their work is not the same.
In this episode of the podcast, I’m sharing my view of the unique difference between coaching, therapy, and counseling, and all the other things that people can do to access help for their lives and their marriage.
Lack of follow-through is a common issue so many couples face. Whether you are disappointed your partner is not following through, or you feel bad that you are unable to follow through, it’s an experience that puts a strain on your relationship.
When individuals in a couple don’t follow through, trust in the relationship is eroded. It sends the message “I can’t depend on you.” Conversely, when there is follow-through, momentum is built and you have greater confidence in the direction you want to be headed in together.
In this episode of the podcast, I’m sharing more about this topic. I break down what makes following through so difficult, and then walk you through a 6-step process for increasing your ability to follow through.
Here’s what you’ll find inside:
This episode is a MUST listen if you want to be a couple that follows through on your commitments and promises to each other.
There is probably no greater frustration in marriage than to not have your expectations met. Expectations are the rules we adopt that tell us what someone else is supposed to think, feel and act. In marriage, expectations are often the cause of a lot of unhappiness.
In this episode of the podcast, we are going to take a new look at the idea of expectations. You will have the opportunity to work through a current expectation that you have that is not being met in your marriage. I will talk you through my 5-part process of how to question your expectations and identify if they make sense to hold on to.
You will
Expectations can be a great way to build the kind of marriage you want together. That process starts with questioning the ones you have now and making sure you end up with the right expectations for the kind of couple you are wanting to be together.
Listen to this episode now and walk away feeling great about your expectations instead of frustrated by them.
Today’s podcast episode will calm your fears and help you have the right perspective about doubting your marriage.
Having doubt about your marriage is more common than you might think. Many people question if their marriage will last, or if they married the right person. These thoughts, in and of themselves are not the problem - it’s what you do with them that either makes your marriage stronger or weaker.
In this episode, you will learn
In addition, I share with you a specific set of thoughts that will help you immediately step out of doubt and into a confident assurance about your future.
I’ll walk you through my 5-step process for managing doubt so that you get to create a marriage that feels secure and stable.
Knowing where you’re headed together as a couple is priceless. Listen to this episode now to get an approach that will help get you there.
Mentioned in this Episode: Better Together Couple’s Event: https://drchavonne.com/better-together-couples-event/
Today’s podcast episode will inspire you and show you all that’s possible for you with your spouse. One of the greatest assets you have in making your marriage better is a vision for what you want to experience together as a couple. When couples struggle, it’s because they don’t have a clear picture of what they are striving for. They get stuck in the “reality” of what’s missing and don’t focus enough on what can still be.
This week, I’m helping you reconnect with what it looks like for you to thrive together as husband and wife in a profound way. You will have hope again. You will allow yourself to dream again. You will remember what it was like to love your marriage.
In this deeply emotional episode I discuss:
There is such value in having a better marriage, even beyond how you feel today. It’s about having a better marriage for the rest of your life. It’s about creating a legacy for your children, and their children.
Listen to this episode and then bring your longing to be Better Together as a couple to the virtual couple’s event I’m hosting on October 22-23.

Making time for your marriage is an investment that always pays off. You’ll be more comfortable around each other, have better communication, and ultimately get along better. Join me on the podcast today for a valuable conversation about the importance of making time for your marriage.
Anytime a couple is not on the same page one person is likely to feel very disappointed or frustrated. Many people come to me asking the question of how to get their spouse on board with something.
In this episode, I give you my honest answer and introduce you to a 5-step process for having these types of conversations.
I make the distinction between inviting your partner to consider something versus trying to convince them.
In this episode you will learn:
-the right way to start an important conversation
-what energy do you need to bring to best engage your spouse
-how to make the invitation irresistible to your spouse
-how to get their buy-in without dragging them along

Do you feel like you and your spouse are living like roommates? Whenever you hear about a roommate, it's usually a story of something that's not working well. You may currently be experiencing a rough patch in your marriage that’s making you feel this way but here’s the thing, you are roommates. You live in a home together, you share responsibilities, you do your thing, in some ways and your spouse does their thing in certain ways. So in actuality you are roommates, it is a part of being married.
I want to offer you the insight that roommate living is more of a mindset rather than an actual circumstance. A couple can spend very little time together and not feel like roommates. And a couple could spend a lot of time together and still feel like roommates because this roommate mentality is a mindset. The good news is that this is just a season in your marriage and it can change. Listen in as I share a few things that you can do and how to navigate this season in your marriage.
if you and your spouse are both interested in addressing how disconnection is a problem in your marriage. I am here to support you. Together, we will talk about what's been happening, what you want for your marriage and how to permanently move you out of the roommate living situation. Book your call now at www.drchavonne.com.
For many women, there's an emotional reactivity and a heightened sense of fear and anxiety that's often at play when it comes to parenting our children. It's like you reflect back on your own childhood and find yourself being in the space of not wanting to make the same mistakes with your children that you perceive that your parents made. This can result in having parenting differences in your marriage since you may not always be a united front in all of your parenting scenarios. This can be very frustrating but I want you to know that this is a very common topic that I coach on and it can get better. So what I'm going to share with you today are several perspectives and tips and strategies that you can employ when you find yourself growing more and more frustrated by parenting differences with your spouse.
I also want to offer that even though this topic is specific to parenting, you can apply these principles I'm going to share to any significant difference between you and your spouse.
If you are really struggling with some of the differences between you and your spouse, coaching can really help you. We can work together one on one and do a deep dive into, we can look at every aspect of your marriage, where it feels like you and your spouse are not on the same page, we can find how to think about it differently, how to feel differently about it, and how to approach the situations in ways that are really just going to be much more effective than maybe what you've been doing so far. If you're ready to do this work I want to invite you to a private call with me, it is a complimentary consultation, and you can book your call today at www.drchavonne.com.
Shutting down in a marriage may look like a lot of different things. You may find your spouse is more distant, withdrawn, distracted, or defensive. This can be a difficult time, especially if you deeply want to connect and work on things together. In this episode I share the reasons why your spouse may have shut down, and how you can still move yourself forward in a positive direction. I also share three critical things to keep in mind so that you remain encouraged and believe in a better future together.
You CAN have a marriage that you love, a marriage that your spouse loves and a marriage that you both are very proud of. Press play to learn more.
What does it mean to hold space for someone else? It means that we are willing to walk alongside another person in whatever journey they’re on without judging them, making them feel inadequate, trying to fix them, or trying to impact the outcome. For your spouse, this means the same thing. If we aren't as happy as we can be in the marriage, it's likely because we see something in our spouse that we would like to be different.
In this episode I offer you six steps that will help you hold the space and find peace with exactly where your spouse is. These steps will help you create a breakthrough for yourself and actually start feeling the way that you want to be feeling. Listen in to learn more.
So often we are unclear about where we are and what is necessary to take us to where we want to be. Knowing where you are right now in your marriage is such valuable information because it helps you know where to put your focus and effort. As a coach, my goal is all about getting you from where you are now, to where you want to be and help you to get super clear about the starting line. How you approach getting the results that you want will be different depending on where you're starting from but ultimately all we really want is to fully express ourselves, to be accepted and loved and feel connected to life, to other people, to ourselves. And so if that's what we're all after, at the end of the day, there's tons of different ways we can create that. And there are tons of different starting points.
Today I want to share with you the three places that I find most people start out from and how the work of marriage coaching, the work of life coaching applies, and is beneficial to these scenarios. And as long as you are open to coaching, you are really committed to doing the work and getting the outcome that you want, I can help you. If you would like to work together, I encourage you to go to my website at www.drchavonnne.com and schedule a complimentary call with me. I will be really clear with you about where you are and we will map out your exact pathway to getting to where you want to be.
Today’s episode will help you to be intentional about the marriage you want and deserve. If you want a great marriage, it won’t happen by chance. Great marriages happen by choice. When it comes to #marriagegoals, I want you to look at what you have now and build from there rather than focusing on the future idealistic version of the marriage that you want. Making what we have now be enough to work with in creating the marriage of your dreams is the best place to start. The next step is looking internally to identify what needs to shift inside of you to make your marriage better. These are the things that you have 100% control over and these are the things that can make your marriage 100% better. Listen in to learn more about setting marriage goals from an internal place.
If you are ready to have a better marriage, I invite you to work with me in accomplishing your marriage goals. I can help you get clear on your goals, what's standing in your way and your exact roadmap so that you can get unstuck and transform your marriage into a loving and enjoyable experience. How self-aware are you? Self-awareness is probably one of those things where you have an idea of what it is, but if someone asked you to define it, you might stumble a bit to find the words. By definition, self-awareness is a conscious knowledge of one's own character, feelings, motives, and desires. Being self-aware is how you live as your true, authentic self. When we know ourselves deeply, we are able to live more fulfilled and happier lives.
In today’s episode, I will share with you the power of self-awareness as it relates to marriage. When you and how you can access your innermost thoughts and your real feelings and clearly understand what's happening for you, the way you interact with your husband will be different. You’ll also be able to make the powerful connection between how you are showing up in the marriage and the impact of that in relation to your desired results. I’m sharing four specific and amazing things that self-awareness offers to you that you can use to transform your marriage. Tune in to learn more.

It's not easy to see your husband's imperfections and then choose to allow him to be who he is without you complaining or trying to fix him. But exercising allowance makes your marriage more peaceful and enjoyable. Allowance is you suspending your thoughts and beliefs of who you think your husband should be according to your opinion. This does not mean that you don’t ever stand up for yourself. You should create boundaries in order to protect yourself, your values and what's important to you but you should not use boundaries to manipulate or control what your husband is doing. Boundaries are not ultimatums. Listen in to learn how you can allow your husband to be who he is, just the way he is and still set boundaries to protect your values and ultimately have a better marriage.
If you want to create an easier marriage and stop feeling so frustrated with your husband, I invite you to private coaching with me. Over the course of 6 months you will learn how to master the mindset that will help you love being married again. To schedule a complimentary call with me by visiting my website at www.drchavonne.com. This is the pathway to creating different results in your marriage and I can 100% help you with that.

Today, I will share five reasons why talking about your issues in marriage doesn’t always work. Listen in to gain some clarity on how to view the issues differently to then move in a more productive conversation.
