THE YOUNG INNOVATORS TEAM“The most important component of quality and excellence in early education is to have a stable, trained, and well-educated workforce,” explains Young Innovators’ CEO and founder Marnie Forestieri. Yet, professionals leave the industry at an alarming turnover rate citing inadequate working conditions, disempowering company culture, and lack of career advancement opportunities.
The Young Innovators’ story began in 2019 as a grassroots movement during a conversation among a small group of educators facing similar frustrations and challenges. To bring about the improvements they wanted to see for their students and profession, they recognized change is required to reverse the childcare crisis.
Shortly after, Dr. Edward Clapp and Dr. Lynette Solis from Harvard University visited Oviedo to assist the team in implementing the principles of Harvard’s research on Maker-centered Learning. During this hands-on collaboration, the team experienced the power of becoming Agents of Change. This conscious shift disrupted every department, from operations, curriculum delivery, training, technology, customer service, and marketing.
Dr. Debby Mitchell, a former UCF professor, leads the curriculum department in collaboration with practitioners in the classroom. By generating answers in the innovative and practical spirit in which they teach, they built the foundation of Young Innovators’ educational philosophy: The Innovation Advantage. Embedded in the curriculum are teacher practices that encourage risk-taking, collaboration, and a growth mindset as children learn to solve problems for others.
To protect the mission, the company is operated exclusively by educators with classroom experience and scaling with new rules. To open their new Winter Garden location, the company is partnering with our director, Erika Seger, retired chief of Orlando Fire Department, Danny Wilson, and his wife, Kellie.
The team is also on a mission to empower the next generation of early learning leaders with research, knowledge, mentoring, and a connected community through their nonprofit initiative. Sarah Sprinkel is the Chief Executive Officer and Dr. Alina Ruta is the VP of strategy on the mission to activate and amplify the efforts of early childhood professionals as makers as they learn, build, and work together in their communities.

Surviving Daylight time will end on November 5th this year. Parents mostly worry about daylight savings time in the spring when we push our clocks forward and lose a precious hour of much-needed sleep. “Falling back” doesn’t always mean an extra hour in bed. It never fails that the time change affects our children and sometimes a drastic one! But the right plan can help you and your kids handle the transition easier.
The hour shift in daylight savings time is equal to an hour of jet lag. Rule of thumb is it takes one full day to adjust to just one hour of jet lag. Sometimes it can take longer, and waking up in the middle of the night is common for children.
Studies have shown that young children have a difficult time “falling back,” while teens have a harder time “springing forward.” To help ease the transition, move your child’s bedtime to 30 minutes later for three days before the time change. Once the time changes, return to your child’s old schedule. Your child may not sleep the extra 30 minutes but this approach will make the transition easier.
Another strategy we suggest is spending as much time in natural light as possible. This will help regulate you and your children’s rhythms. It will help you all regain energy and maintain your mood. Consider turning the extra hour you gain into a “no screen time” hour.
All in all, remember to give yourself grace. There’s no “one” right way to handle transitions such as these, and every family and child is different. We hope our tips help, and hope that we all get the sleep we need in that first month of November!

Young Innovators Academy, an early learning company on a mission to empower young learners to meet the challenges of an uncertain future is pleased to announce the opening of a new early learning academy in Winter Garden.
The center will start enrolling new students in February 2023 and will provide childcare, enrichment programs, and early education for children from six weeks to six years of age.
Experts on the future of work say that much of the workforce is at risk of becoming obsolete because of the spread of computers, robots, and other automated technologies. Young Innovators Academy believes that the traditional method of preschool is not preparing young children for the future. The program introduces young learners to a new approach to educating the future workforce during the most fertile years of brain development encouraging children to become confident and independent learners.

Children begin the discovery of the problem by conducting observations in the infant room and then going back to their classrooms to research and learn about the topic. Once a main problem is identified, the small group brainstorms ideas on products they can design, prototype, and create. Once the product is created, they test it with the end users, in this case, the infants to identify ways to improve the design.”
