I love to learn and my favourite way is through storytelling. I am curious - absolutely fascinated - with people's stories. I can’t wait to get to KNOW the person in front of me and HOW they got to be where they are today.

At 82 Jan Latta is ‘Doing it her way’. After decades trailblazing the advertising and publishing world she built, fell, and rebuilt her career. From sending out a Tweet to Lizzo and Beyonce both gently and respectfully pointing out that their lyrics cause damage…..change happened. Both Artists changed their words. On your knees praying to anyone that will listen; please keep my daughter earth side. This is a pain so real it hits you at the very core. Sophie is a single Mother with two daughters; India, 16 and Violet, 14. In 2017, after months of panic attacks and school refusal, India was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. In 2018, this diagnosis escalated to severe social anxiety and clinical depression. She moved schools for her as she wanted a fresh start, and that seemed to help for six months, then India's anxiety became heightened due to her social surroundings and she went downhill fast. In 2019 the self-harming began, then in the march the suicide attempts started. Fast forward to 2022 and Sophie has started the Please Stay Foundation. It just feels right to hear the full story of Niamh, and Jones, Will and Nigel. I was working with Will at the time Jones was born and I have to say even I; who didn’t know Will and Nigel all that well at the time, felt nothing but a burst of love when Jones entered the world. All babies are special when they enter the world…but some; some feel like, look like…. I don’t know how to put it other..... than super special. Truly a burst of love….

It's such a huge part of Kristen's life.
Just surviving to be here for her children, her husband, her family.
And while it's an ongoing concern, it's not all of Kristen's story.
I have always admired a woman that can ride a horse. It's a special bond. One I will never truly understand. Kristen tells the tale of the ride of her life. A story we can only imagine to experience. As good as any Olympic story. A reminder for us all that it's never about coming first in anything.

When you are in labour, at your most vulnerable it is someone like Kirsty that you want in the room. A woman that is awe of the power and strength of what women's bodies can achieve. Kirsty is so aimed. At 35, in her words, after being straight for 35 years fell in love. This is a story of the joy and heartache of bringing life into this world and coming out in a small community. This is the story of strength and for me (Kate) admiration. To fall in love and it be like something from a movie is what we all can only hope and dream for. Kirsty found it. You will feel nothing but energy.
This was Anna's nomination:
She picnics at the top of the tallest trees a person can find, she rock climbs with her dog slung around her shoulders. Movement is like breathing to Anna and she is a fearless adventurer.
The best part, she takes people along with her, always teaching, encouraging and believing in them. Anna is a woman of influence because she stops to look people dead in the eye and say, 'but how are YOU?'
She sees into people in a way most don't and then invites them into her world to access whatever it is they might need.
A chat, community, a yoga class, an art session, a laugh, a hula hoop or fire twirling lesson, you name it.
Anna has time for people and she has compassion for people. She's seen all sorts of things in life, but she doesn't discriminate between someone being upset over a spilled coffee or a significant trauma.
Anna's personal philosophy is inclusion. So when she had a knee replacement recently and had to stop all movement, she thought that'd possibly break her.
But in true Anna style, life has only improved since. achievements: received multiple scholarships and worked part time to support herself through school as a teenager managed to get into a uni course underage because she proved she can go above and beyond, and then she aced it a kinship carer as a teenager / young adult art therapist play therapist works with children and teenagers in multiple capacities who have experienced significant trauma yoga teacher breath work facilitator workshops, retreats, camps, groups, one on ones

Now a mum of 3 boys, school principal, a foster carer, has cared for more than 100 children. Abbey Drinkell is our youngest Woman of Influence. She is 10 Years Old.
Abbey has always been a creative child and not surprising when both sides of her family are creative in various genres singing, performing, music, drawing the list is endless. Although all these seemed to have skipped me (mum) but they have resulted in a melting pot of creativity for Abbey.
Abbey has been involved in Primary Performers where she has participated in performances of The Mikado and Beauty and the Beast, done an Animation Class through One Day Studios.
Abbey's all time passion is drawing and has been for the last 4 years, she draws in both digital and free hand and it is rare to see her without pen and paper or her ipad.
Abbey hopes to one day create her own tv show and at the moment her drawing leans towards the comic style of illustration.
To say drawing is an obsession is an understatement and she is constantly striving to better herself.
Abbey is the designer of the first limited edition Women of Influence T-Shirt.

In the middle of a Pandemic, July 2020 Janet found out she has Breast Cancer.
Janet reached out to Kate with this message:
Hi Kate. I just thought I would reach out and share my life and recent battle with you. I’m not expecting anything but would put it out there that if you need my story as a reference I would be happy to share. I have just been diagnosed with breast cancer. It is reasonably large(like my boobs) so it is a complete mastectomy of one breast and lymph nodes where it has also been found. Fortunately it hasn’t been detected in any other part of my body. It is very early days. I haven’t begun treatment but the mastectomy is on 22nd July. I don’t have much of a story to tell yet but I hope in the future my journey will help others. And CHECK YOUR BOOBS. Pass the word to all your friends. If something doesn’t feel right, get it checked straight away. Sorry to put it on you but you are in a position to get the word out. Keep up the good work. Love listening to you xo

Karen is President of Transit Dance Initiative – a not for profit organization which promotes youth projects and opportunities for Australian communities.
Karen is also Director of Education at Transit Dance – a full time training facility for pre professional dancers and teachers of dance.
Karen is Patron of the Victorian Dance Festival and is a former President of ATOD and ATODI from 2007 – 2017.
Karen has been an Adjudicator of the Performing Arts for over 20 years; a teacher of theatrical dance for over 45 years and an Examiner for the Australian Teachers of Dancing for over 25 years.
Karen has taught students all aspects of theatrical dance with many students winning scholarships and awards in Classical Ballet, Jazz and Tap. Karen has touched the lives of 1,000’s of students who now enjoy successful careers in their respective fields – dancers, dance teachers, physiotherapists, lawyers, chartered accountants, school teachers and more.
Karen is a graduate of The Australian Ballet School Teachers’ Course 1997.
Karen has a Diploma of Dance Teaching & Management, Diploma of Management, Diploma of Musical Theatre, Cert IV in Business (Governance), a Cert IV in TAE, Working with Children Check and current 1st Aid Certificate.
Karen is the immediate past President of ATOD and former President of ATODI – the international branch of the company. During her time as President and/or on the board as a Director was Chair of Curriculum Development. She has has been innovative in creating new resources in systems of training in the Performing Arts.
During her time on the Board ATOD has attained RTO status and commenced an auspice program for schools to partner with ATOD to offer qualifications on the National Framework. Karen was instrumental in creating the ATOD Emergency Relief Fund which supports teachers and students in their time of need. The fund has contributed thousands of dollars to students and teachers over the years. She was instrumental in commencing a professional development opportunity for teachers Come Together Dance Convention which commenced in 2009.
Her main focus during her time on the board was to support members in a tangible way and she suggested and encouraged the Board to approve the exchange of resources – old for new – at no additional cost to the members.
She was also instrumental in attaining Federal Government Funding for dance teachers to upskill to the then new dance qualifications on the National Framework. This funding became a catalyst for ATOD to secure their first freehold Head Office building in Queensland.
Karen has proven to be innovative in her approach to getting the job done and has great Vision for the industry. She is passionate and committed to continue to contribute in a meaningful way.

Michelle Casserley is a lifelong learner who lives by the ocean with her family and is passionate about the role of creative process as a support for recovery work.
Early years were spent in retail and bookkeeping, she then got inspired to work towards health with others using the modality of Bowen Therapy.
Business training supported her to start to build her own business alongside her work.
When in recovery from a severe depressive episode, Michelle found the benefits of creative practices such as art, journaling and music were a great daily support alongside her work with therapists.
She developed a passion for supporting others with mental illness and worked for some years with Skylight Mental Health, facilitating art and drumming programs and at Yarredi Services, supporting women and children experiencing domestic violence before moving into private practice.
She has facilitated Drum Circles and various art workshops to people of all ages and stages, both paid and community work. Journaling has been a large part of her own therapeutic wellness work and she has studied facilitator training with Lisa Sonora.
As someone who has found great support in online courses in art and wellness, she is currently developing her offerings to be available online in order to offer accessible support more widely.

Natalie Ettingshausen is the owner of 'Ettingshausens' - which is one of Sydney’s largest and most successful dance studios with a 12 studio complex and over 1000 students.
She has nurtured students who have gone on to work in ballet companies, starred in major musicals like ‘Matilda’ and been finalists on, ‘So You Think You Can Dance’.
Natalie began as a Primary School Teacher who later chose to specialise on dance education. She is now CEO of an RTO and has her TAE and Diploma in Dance Teaching and Management. Natalie has two children who have shaped her philosophies on teaching and child development.
Her daughter Tamika is now at uni studying design and creative intelligence. Proof that a great dance education builds a confidence and creativity that opens many career pathways. Her son Cody has performed in professional musical productions like Strictly Ballroom, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Matilda.
Having a son in the performing arts has been a driving force for Natalie to make sure that READY SET DANCE is a great introduction to dance for boys.

Roma Britnell is the Member for South-West Coast in the Victorian Parliament.
She was first elected at a by-election in 2015 following the retirement Denis Napthine.
She was re-elected for a second term at the Victorian General Election in 2018.
She was sworn in for her second term on December 19, 2018.
Roma was appointed Shadow Minister for Rural Roads and Shadow Minister for Ports and Freight on December 14, 2018.
During her time in Parliament, she has been able to secure fast tracked funding for the new Warrnambool Special Development School, funding to improve the Warrnambool rail line and has driven investment in rural and regional roads.
She has also been vocal on the need to improve regional healthcare facilities, especially at the Warrnambool and Portland hospitals and remains a passionate advocate for the region’s food and fibre sector.
Roma is also a passionate advocate for regional growth, encouraging population and business expansion by improving regional infrastructure and providing incentives for people to relocate to regional Victoria.
Roma was also a member of the Parliament’s Family and Community Development Committee, which has held inquiries into Service for People with Autism Spectrum Disorder and into Perinatal Services.
Through this work, Roma was able to secure $500,000 in funding for the I CAN Network – a group that supports young people on the Autism Spectrum through mentoring and encourages them to see their ability and reach their full potential.
Prior to her election, Roma ran a successful dairy farm business. She is also a qualified nurse and has worked in healthcare in the South West for 30 years and for 15 years was manager of the Kirrae Health Service at the Framlingham Aboriginal Community.
She is a mother of four children and a grandmother to one.
Roma was the recipient of the 2009 National and Victorian Rural Woman of the Year, Australian Rural Woman of the Year and is a Nuffield Scholar.
As a leader in Victorian agricultural, Roma has served as the Vice President of the United Dairy Farmers of Victoria, is a past Chair of the WestVic Dairy which focused on developing the South West dairy industry and served on a number of number of boards, including the Geoffrey Gardner Foundation, Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Management Authority and Australian Dairy Farmers Federation.
She was a policy councilor with the Victorian Farmers Federation as well as a member of the Great South Coast Group’s Economic Pillar and a committee member of the Warrnambool City Council’s Food and Agriculture into China project.
She is now a member of Business Professional Women South West, the Woolsthorpe Branch of the Country Women’s Association and an honorary member of the Rotary Club of Warrnambool East and several other local sporting and community organisations.
Roma regularly supports local events and community groups and is still involved with fundraising for the Woolsthorpe Primary School, where her children went to school.

Erin Molan is a Presenter for the Nine Network. She is co-host of the hugely popular and Logie-award winning NRL Footy Show - the first full-time female panellist and co-host in the show's 22 year history.
Erin is a very proud ambassador for a number of charities - including Save Our Sons and Defence Cares...but it's her work with Bowel Cancer Australia that has resulted in unprecedented coverage of Australia's second biggest cancer killer. She also donates her time to support and MC a number of charity events...including the Ronald MacDonald House and Legacy Australia.
She also spends time mentoring and engaging with young women. Erin competed in the gruelling Sydney to Hobart Yacht race in 2015, raising over 5 million dollars for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation - a charity that provides much needed equipment for sick children in hospital.
These days Erin is a Motherand a passionate Raiders fan who hails from Canberra, calls Sydney home, and she will travel just about anywhere to watch and be part of a good sporting contest.

Catherine is at a time of greatest challenges a voice of Kindness and empathy. This is just the beginning. Catherine believes that ageing is a privilege and that older people are one of the most interesting and wonderful cohorts of humans.
She also believes that ageism is so culturally entrenched that few can see it in its entirety - and so the strategies to create cultural change had better be very powerful.
This led the the art and narratives based approaches now taken by Celebrate Ageing.
Stories build empathy and compassion, art engages people interest. Catherine draws on her experiences as a nurse, an aged care worker, an academic and an artist to pull together a unique social enterprise that utilises art and narrative to bridge the knowledge (research) to practice (culture) gap.

Natalie Stevens was born into the construction industry.
She has lived and breathed it her entire life.
Her father started their family construction business in 1967 which evolved over the years into property development.
Today they manage the entire property development supply chain from the purchase of raw land, right through to sales and marketing.

A Woman of Influence- Angelina Arora
Angelina Arora, 17 of Glen Alpine, NSW is an environmental scientist, innovator and inventor of a biodegradable plastic.
Made completely of waste it decomposes 1.5 million times faster than conventional plastics, significantly reducing the amount of pollution caused by plastics. She is currently researching micro plastics in fish which could potentially be entering our food chain.
Angelina speaks at environmental events, in television and print, where she advocates for a sustainable future and raises awareness about plastic pollution. She wants to encourage more young people and women to engage in STEM subjects and careers. She received a green globe award and fourth place in the World Science Olympics.

A Woman of Influence- Jessica Duncan
Jessica Duncan, 23 of Moree, NSW is the youngest female to be on the Aboriginal Medical Service Board.
She has volunteered hundreds of hours to the Moree Reconciliation Week Committee, helping to co-ordinate the event and MC at the Awards night.
She was the key note speaker at the NAIDOC week opening ceremony and undertook a speech about the importance of languages. Jessica can speak the Kamilaroi language and is an advocate of the Kamilaroi family history.
Jessica created her own charity organisation called DONATE FOR DIGNITY, helping the women’s refuge and hospital provide care packs to over 300 disadvantaged or homeless people.

Helen Pitt is a Sydney Morning Herald journalist who won the 2018 Walkley Book award for 'The House, the dramatic story of the Sydney Opera House and the people who made it'.
She has been a journalist since she was 16, when she won 'The Herald's' high school newspaper competition, and began working there in 1986.
She has worked as the opinion and letters there, as a feature writer for 'The Bulletin magazine', in California for 'New York Times Digital', and as a television reporter at 'Euronews' in France.
In 1992 she was selected to take part in the Journalists in Europe program in Paris. Her feature writing has won the Austcare Media award and been highly commended in the UN Media Peace prize.

Her first book, a memoir called 'Say Hello,' was released in Australia in January 2019.
She is also working on editing 'Growing Up Disabled in Australia' with Black Inc Books. She writes on disability and appearance diversity issues for news outlets including the ABC, The Age and Sydney Morning Herald, and SBS.
She was named as one of Australia’s most influential women in the 2014 Australian Financial Review and Westpac 100 Women of Influence Awards.
She has appeared on ABC TV’s 'You Can’t Ask That' and 'Cyberhate' with Tara Moss, and has been a regular on various ABC radio programs.
She has spoken at the Melbourne Writers Festival, the University of Western England and Melbourne University – to name a few. She organised the history-making Access to Fashion – a Melbourne Fashion Week event featuring disabled models.
