Understanding astrology through the lives of humans who do good work in the world, with a dash of poetry every episode.
Heidi shares some life and astrology updates as well as some truly soothing anedotes and poems.
In this episode of The Radiance Project, Heidi sits down with artist, writer, and modern keeper of the epistolary arts, Kathryn Hastings.
Through her studio, Kathryn Hastings & Co., Kathryn creates heirloom wax seals designed to last for at least 300 years. Each seal is crafted as fine art — merging historic tools, time-honored symbolism, and meticulous innovation.
Kathryn reimagines tools of devotion and communication for modern life and generations to come. Her work has been featured on the cover of Victoria Magazine, and in Veranda, Grazia, and The Art of Correspondence. She is also the host of the podcast One Sealed Letter, where she explores the history and enduring relevance of handwritten expression.
In this conversation, Heidi and Kathryn explore:
Astrologically speaking, Kathryn is a Virgo Sun, Virgo Moon, and Taurus Rising — an earthy trinity of devotion, craftsmanship, and embodiment. And with Venus in Libra in the 6th house, refinement becomes love made visible.

In this episode, Heidi reflects on spaciousness, commitment, and the emotional weather of our times. After a week of meeting new clients and preparing to begin a six-month class herself, she explores what it means to grow over time — and how rest, creativity, and community become lifelines in seasons of collective intensity.
We are being asked to carry more than we can always name. And yet, through astrology, poetry, and the steady work of love, mountains can move.
This episode weaves together current astrological shifts, stories of unity and peace, and three powerful poems that remind us of impermanence, devotion, and hope. Heidi closes with a reminder that this is not a time to go silent. This is a time to create. To love. To show up.

This week we revisit our interview with Shannon Watts, the founder and a full-time volunteer with the nation’s largest grassroots group fighting against gun violence, Moms Demand Action.
We looked at the major career events in Shannon's life, starting from the fateful day, December 14th, 2012 when the heartbreaking and tragic school shooting took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Shannon was moved to reach out via a small Facebook post to other moms who were also outraged by the tragedy and the rest is history.
With nearly 10 million supporters and a chapter in every state, Moms Demand Action and its partner, Everytown for Gun Safety, have stopped the NRA’s priority legislation in statehouses roughly 90% of the time, and passed hundreds of gun safety laws across the country, changed corporate policies and educated Americans about secure gun storage. This grassroots movement helped break through the logjam in Congress and pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the first gun safety bill in 26 years.
Shannon is also active in recruiting and training women to run for office at all levels of the political spectrum. She was named one of Glamour’s 2022 Women of the Year and her book, Fight Like a Mother: How a Grassroots Movement Took on the Gun Lobby and Why Women Will Change the World, was released in May of 2019.
Shannon's story reminds us that one person can make a huge difference in tackling what seems like insurmountable problems. Tell everyone if they want to make their voices heard about gun safety to text 64433 or go to the Moms Demand Action website (momsdemandaction.org) for ways to get in touch with your representatives.

Can you tell me what it means to have 3 planets in 2 different signs and how you’d interpret what the means for creativity and children? Heidi answers two questions -- one about The Part of Fortune and one about the right timing to make a career shift! She also shares a beautiful poem the moment an ordinary day becomes holy ground. Do you think the part of fortune means anything ... mine made so much sense to me in terms of acting career and playfulness and improv (aquarius! 5th house!) but.... you tell me!!! - Sue Kate and I am currently in an alright job. It pays the bills, my coworkers are nice, and I'm able to do the work well. However, I feel like I can do more. I want to LOVE my job. But, I'm scared to take the risk. What if what I do next is worse than it is here? What if I have to take a pay cut to get into the field I wish to pursue (HR)? I'm nervous to take the jump. Is there a time coming up where taking that jump would make sense? Is it worth the risk? How will I know that the opportunity is right? -Kelly Poem: "Everyday Grace" by Stella Nesanovich

Shana is returning to work she loves and hopes to have the support to see it through and grow her business. Heidi explores transits to the Midheaven that say "Yes" to this new chapter Heidi, Over a year ago, I left my job as a psychotherapist to work a desk job for my brother’s law firm. This was a pragmatic move: my family needed benefits, and the desk job provided them. After a difficult year of doing work I don’t enjoy - and the emotional complications of working for my sibling - I have realized that I really just don’t like working for other people. I don’t want a boss - nor do I want to be the boss of anyone. I have decided to return to my therapy practice. I will be part of a group of therapists that engage in consensus decision making while at the same time, I will essentially be working for myself. At times I feel excited about this upcoming change, but more often I am overwhelmed by anxieties and doubts. I struggle with imposter syndrome, I wonder if I’ll be good enough, I fear I’ll make a big mistake.... I want to bring creativity and beauty into my work with others. I want to be humble and I want to inspire. But overthinking takes over and saps me of innovation and energy. This is true in many areas of my life. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a writer - and while I’ve composed a few poems and stories I feel good about, this critical overthinking - the nonstop narratives - freeze my creative flexibility, stop me before I’ve even started, and convince me to stay small. I am just beginning to learn about astrology and I wonder if this has to do with my moon in Gemini? And since my moon in Gemini is in the seventh house, I will say this overthinking shows up in my partnership as well - and I am married to a beautiful soul. (I had my chart read once, almost 20 years ago, and the astrologer told me that my marriage planet is afflicted.) I am wondering how to best understand and work with this astrological placement (or whatever placements may be relevant here), and how I can get out of my own way so that I can connect to and create beauty - whether it be in my career, relationships or creative pursuits (which I see as all connected anyway...). Many thanks for considering my question! -Shana Poem: "I Can No Longer Be Contained" by Heidi Rose Robbins
Heidi explores the position of the EARTH in the astrological chart. Hi Heidi! I've been listening and enjoying your podcast for awhile now and have recently became a Radiant member which has exposed me to your fantastic Charting Your Course classes. Something struck me in your 5th class about Mars. In the first 10 minutes you mention Earth and its significance. I've never thought about this before but you explain how Earth's position in your chart is directly opposite your Sun. So I would have Earth in 0'13" Sagittarius in the 5th house, and according to the decans, Sag/Sag. You explain that Earth represents our practical manifesting work. I have my Sun in opposition to Uranus but now I know that my Earth is sitting right next to Uranus. Can you help me put this into perspective in terms of career? I'm very much ready for a change in my career but have always valued stability and am afraid to make a leap that may cause instability. This new found Earth next to Uranus may be the shake up perspective I need? Sorry for the long question but I never thought about Earth as part of a chart! — Stephen Poem: "It's All Right" by William Stafford
Heidi takes a look at a 1st house Stellium with 8 major planetary positions all in a row. What does this mean? How can one use such a potent line up? I have a massive stellium in the first house and I want to know what it means for my life's purpose. Am I here just to figure my own self out or is there a higher calling? -Lex Poems "I Want to Breathe" by James Laughlin "Celtic Vow" by Anonymous

Heidi addresses the question about exact time of birth in astrology. She also sounds a rallying cry to ignore astrologers who make broad sweeping statements about the quality of your entire life. Dear Heidi, I found your podcast online,it’s great, I listen at work! I’ve always been interested in astrology.I did have my chart done a long time ago.The only things I can remember the astrologer said were that my life would be a struggle and that I have lots of conflict.Anyways those words stuck with me and it was kinda true.I know everybody is different, but most of the Capricorn’s I know, were all kinda similar. My question is I get so stuck in my head ,is there a way for us Capricorn’s to lighten up a bit, Help Earthbound Capricorn AND from Rochelle- My question is: If we are unable to get the time of birth for a person, how accurate are the charts in terms of the planet placements? Since we cannot get the ascending planet, then we cannot get houses right? But we should be able to get moon within reason? Are there any fixes? A lovely, educational podcast on this cluster of questions would be so wonderful to me. Charade Poem "Sifter" by Naomi Shihab Nye
Heidi addresses the Libran dilemma. Should Rina wait for a possible partner to have a child or dive into the single parent journey? I have reached a crossroads in my life and I have been putting off making the decision. I am a single woman who wants to have biological children. I would really love to do this with a partner, but I have not found him yet. I finally have become comfortable with the idea of doing this by myself, but I struggle with the idea of letting that dream go. Do I continue dating and give myself more time or just take the leap? What do the stars tell me? Thank you for your thoughts! Big Love Poem "Afterwards" by William Stafford
Heidi addresses all the places to look for pregnancy or childbirth in the astrological chart. I have wanted to be a mom my whole life, and for the past few months the desire has grown tenfold. My partner is not ready for kids (but says he will be in a few years), and my bank account isn’t either, but the desire and literal dreams about having a baby are intoxicating. Is something in the stars stirring this? Is there a movement coming that will help carry this dream? -Anonymous Poem "The Second Music" by Annie Lighthart
Heidi discusses Sarah's chart and the journey of healing-- from instability and addiction-- to standing in one's fullness and offering one's gift. Sarah is a Sagittarius with a Virgo Moon and Capricorn Rising. Hi Heidi :) Thank you for your wonderful podcast. I JUST stumbled across a couple of days ago by looking up the word radiant. My question is in relation to my two biggest life challenges - or opportunities for growth shall we say ;) I have had an eating disorder most of my life. I developed anorexia at the age of 14, and then became bulimic at around 16. Since then, I have been on a slow and steady road to deep spiritual healing, self-love, bodily awareness, and mental strengthening that has allowed me to become my most authentic healthy self and express myself in a way that is balanced and fulfilling. My question is in relation to how long it has taken me to move through the lessons and understanding involved in my eating behaviours and thinking pattens. I have done this almost entirely on my own (as in, no professional help), largely due to a lack of financial resources at varying stages of my life. Interesting, as I am actually now a psychologist (as well as a singer-songwriter) :) Creating a work that I love AND having it be financially viable has been my second challenge - to create a confidence in my financial flow and the energetic giving and receiving. Anyway.. I remember when I was 15 having a moment of connection with God/The Universe where I heard a voice say to me that my road to recovery with my eating disorder would be long, but that when I did rise beyond it completely, it would be lasting and nothing would be able to take this away from me. I am wondering, does this align with my chart and being a Sagittarian - or am I drawing this out unnecessarily? I do feel the strongest and the happiest I have ever been, but there are still some niggling behaviours and I wonder if I am hanging onto them because I am telling myself the road was going to be long. I also feel sad sometimes thinking that I am 36 and this is still a part of my life. At the same time, I think of the poem Ithaka that you shared (love it!), and can't help but feel that everything is happening as it is meant to. That I am right on track. That this is my fragrant journey to Ithaka. Love to know your thoughts :) Poem "Sometimes, I am Startled Out of Myself" by Barbara Crooker
Heidi talks about how a Cancer Rising can offer her gift and emerge from "behind the scenes." I have spent most my life 'protecting' my authentic self from the world, only allowing to express in private. As I get older I am finding a real push toward expressing who I really am in public because not doing so is becoming extremely painful. Doing this seems to go against my nature (or conditioning)? How can I use the energies of my chart to speak, communicate, and express myself to the world more? I find myself not willing to do it if authenticity is compromised. I would like to explore Chiron in Gemini a little more in the 11th house...maybe there are some answers there? Or maybe there are some clues in less obvious places. Thanks Heidi! Poem "A Poem for my Daughter" by Teddy Macker
Ellen and Heidi discuss the upcoming season of Virgo. POEM "There Was a Time I Would Reject Those" by Muhyiddin Ibn Al'Arabi
Heidi explores how to reframe the stories we tell ourselves about our astrological charts. Heidi, I suffer from OCD and have since I was 13. I’m receiving therapy and with medication function well as an art teacher. I also love astrology and struggle with making sense of my four major placements being hypercritical and controlling (Leo sun libra rising moon Capricorn, mars in cancer, Venus in Virgo). I wonder how much my birth chart has influenced my OCD symptoms and what I can learn to be more compassionate with myself and my mind. -Shannon Poem "How to (Belong) Be Alone" by Paidraig O Tuama
Heidi talks about relationships, intimacy and the 7th House, answering this listener question: Hi Heidi, Can we talk about the 7th house? I have Sun, Moon, Venus, Saturn and the north node on the 7th, and it’s also my descendent. What does it mean relationship wise? I’m single and looking for partnership . Also my moon and Venus are in Aquarius, although I resonate with many Aquarian traits, I feel too emo. How do I make sense of these contradictions? Thanks. Love, Leticia Poem: "Sorry not Sorry" by Maya Stein

Heidi shares some poetry and answers several astrological questions from her listeners:
Elizabeth:
I have Venus on my ascendant which I love but it falls in the 12th house. The 12th house is still a bit murky for me... Can you explain further? I am always just thinking it means that it is a hidden blessing or something that is veiled. I get it and I am also puzzled by it.
Val:
With Saturn being in my 10th, and that planet being about discipline and hard work to over time, achieve mastery…how best to work with astrology to take advantage of timing for making big moves, like a career change, or bringing a project to the public?
Erin:
I think of Chiron and the nodes as being places I need to learn and to heal. Do you place much importance on these signs/placements? Is there particular resonance between the two with their placement in my chart? I know there are no strong aspects but having the nodes in the 2nd/8th house and Chiron in the 8th?
