The Blue Bayou is a fine dining restaurant inside Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland. The first of its kind in any Disney park. It sets an atmosphere of dining alfresco in the evening while boats pass through the bayou on their way to seek adventure. San Angel Inn is exactly the same thing but with Mexican food and a decidedly worse attraction. Will San Angel Inn win out because if you get the wrong table in Blue Bayou where you are meant to be dining outside you could see right outside to see sunny southern California? Or will Blue Bayou win because it did it first and it's in a better ride?

Storybookland Canal Boats (or some iteration) was in the plans for Walt Disney way back when it was going to be Mickey Mouse Park across from the studio in Burbank. Living with the land was an original concept for the Land pavilion at Epcot. We thought this one was going to be straight forward. It was not.
Hear Jimmy and Dan argue for the rides' supremacy while host and judge Erik tries to decide based on some really subjective arguments.

One isn't even open to the public but rather houses a make shift DVC lounge, the other acts as a small museum and maybe the only place in DHS where Darth Vader can be seen because of the ridiculous time window box Disney painted themselves in in Galaxy's Edge. So before you hard core star wars fans get all excited about new TSR Star wars content, curb your enthusiasm and take this opportunity to learn about what used to be in these spaces. Galactic Grill (previously called tomorrowland Terrace before Disney needed to star wars everything) is a counter service restaurant with a stage where things and people perform (not "No Doubt") Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe is a counter service restaurant in tomorrowland with a stage where an animatronic named Sonny Eclipse performs with his spirit backup singers from Yew Nork City. We did a show pre pandemic with Jeremy whether we should even have Star torus as an attraction since Galaxy's edge opened. At the time we discussed some of the history and decided this should exist because in the immortal words of Mae Kat "Do you want to go to Hoth or not?"

Disney's Boardwalk Resort and Disney's Paradise Pier resort are both in close proximity to the second gate parks on both coasts. Disney's Boardwalk is a thoroughly Imagineered resort from top to bottom. It has theming details that will blow your mind. So many that we had to carry them over to our "after hours" show we release on our facebook page . Disney's Paradise Pier (soon to be Pixar) resort is a lightly overlayed hotel built by a Japanese conglomerate in the 80s. Both hotels have access to the second gate of each property. They both keep you in the "Disney Bubble", they are moth similarly priced but which resort will reign supreme as the best bang for your buck when staying on property at either Disneyland or Walt Disney World? Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the most beloved attractions in Disney Parks history! It was original I.P. at its finest and spawned a billion $ film franchise. But did you know just how predictable this attraction was for Disney? Talks of a pirate ride attraction began as early as 1957 before being realized a decade later just weeks after Walt Disney died. Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin was the first Pizar themed attractions at any Disney Theme park. That was even before Disney Owned Pixar. Buzz lightyear Astro Blasters (BLAB) replaced the queue for The Rocket Rods and originally the attraction Circle Vision 360. The Astro Orbitor at Disneyland is not a new attraction. A version of the attraction opened in 1956. Astro Orbiter opened in 1974 at Walt Disney World. We also discussed a great deal about pandemic weight gain and going to the parks. We discussed the new annual pass program at Disney World. We recorded this episode on 2 consecutive Sundays and between recordings, Jimmy got new super fast fiber internet and for some reason, his connection froze several times. Peter Pan's Flight is an opening day attraction at both Disneyland and The Magic Kingdom and has remained one of the most popular attractions with among the highest wait times in both parks. Disney parks are famous for the significant milestone birthday celebrations. From the Tencennial celebration in 1965 that introduced several ground breaking attractions still in operation today somewhere around the world. "It's a Small World", "The Peoplemover", "Pirates" and "Haunted Mansion" were all teased on that TV special. While that was Walt's last official milestone celebration, the tradition carries on to this day. As we approach Walt Disney World's 50th birthday and this is officially The Supreme Resort's 40th episode, we explore Disneyland's 40th vs WDW's 40th and who did it better. The Golden Horseshoe was one of the first attractions ever used at Disneyland. Similar to The Mark Twain, The Golden Horseshoe was used on July 13th for Walt and Lillian's wedding anniversary party before Disneyland opened to the public. The Diamond Horseshoe was also an opening day attraction at Magic Kingdom. And, Wally Boag (star of the Golden Horseshoe) opened the Diamond Horseshoe in 1971 to keep the tradition of this live stage show alive.
Today, neither are quite as impressive. The Golden Horseshoe has dueling pianos while the Diamond Horseshoe has a player piano that doesn't play.

The rivers of America are a staple in some form at Every Magic Kingdom style park around the world. Disneyland's version is a bustling thoroughfare of kinetic energy. Magic Kingdoms version is also a version. Hey there Flaggers! We have finally covered all things Six Flags and have a little bit of a departure for this week’s Show! We searched the theme park forums for the closest thing we could find to a 6 Flags ride and found “The Country Bear Jamboree”. A ride found only at Disney. We discuss the Ride, its origins and why people go so crazy over a bunch of robot bears!. We also welcome our newest host Nick, son of former host who sadly passed away from an unfortunate hot dog incident at Six Flags, a sad but common theme for our hosts over the years.
While we do have some Six flags references sprinkled in the episode, it is sadly mostly about a Disney attraction. We will get back to the normal schedule on next week’s show.

The Tower of Terror is a very unique thrill ride found at Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout is a similar thrill ride found at Disney California Adventure. There is a shared origin for both of these attractions which includes original ideas by Mel Brooks of all people. We are joined by Terrence of Earzup Podcast and we try having a 4th as Dan acts as the "Jury". Tom Sawyer Island is a sleeper hit at the domestic Disney parks. While it isn't the first attraction we all run to, when we get there, we are reminded of its peaceful charm. Also, it has a pretty storied past including Walt Disney Himself! Does it make sense that the pirate invasion is all told as a part of Tom's imagination, or is it simply shoehorned in to promote Disney movies? We have often discussed the size of Disneyland and its attractions as well as the size of Walt Disney world and its attractions. But does size matter? After all, as Dan often points out, "It's not Disneyland's fault that its small. What does it do with the limited space it has? Do they do that better? Conversely, is the fact that Walt Disney World is so big make it better? For example, the Odyssey in Epcot is a large space that has sat largely empty for years. Does the fact that Walt Disney World have so much underutilized space make it worse? Before there were "live action" remakes of Disney films, the Walt Disney Company let their television animation department loose on the straight to video market with some success. The first of these releases was 1994's Return Of Jafar: a sequel to their hit animated feature, Aladdin. Not every attraction can be an E Ticket, and these two are no exception: Gadget's Go Coaster and Goofy's Barnstormer Coaster. The many adventures of Winnie the Pooh is a classic dark ride at Magic Kingdom and Disneyland. The AA Milne characters have been part of the Disney family since the 1960s but did not become part of an attraction in the US parks until 1999. The rides on both coasts are virtually identical, but the lands and the queues vary wildly. Does the interactive queue at Walt Disney World outweigh the relatively short wait times at Disneyland? The Haunted Mansion is a beloved attraction. The mystery of its structure being erected years before its actual opening have been passed down through generations of Disneyland fans. Both Mansion rides were developed and built simultaneously and therefore share the same history. Both attractions share much of the same ride experience. Does the size of the mansion affect the riders experience? Do the extra show scenes at WDW make a difference? What about the interactive queue in Orlando? Does the contradictory aesthetic detract? How does the overlay at Disneyland for many months of the year impact the casual fan? We’re not sure even we know the answers to these questions. Wild mouse coasters are often an off-the-shelf ride experience with little-to-no story. These two Disney versions are no real exception. Primeval Whirl has some variations in the ride system, but Goofy’s Sky School is in the ever famous Paradise Gardens Park. Both attractions are/were in lands largely modeled after carnivals and/or road side fairs. Those lands fundamentally differ from Walt’s original vision of what Disney parks were meant to be. Test Track was a replacement for World of Motion at Epcot. In the newest version, with a Tron aesthetic, you can actually design the virtual car you ride and then see the performance results afterward. Radiator Springs Racers is at the heart of the Cars Land expansion which was a part of the reimagining effort for Disney California Adventure. This attraction takes you through Radiator Springs and culminates in a race between you and another car.
