The Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice is one of enduring love and ultimate tragedy. Orpheus was the son of the Muse Calliope and in some stories his father is the God Apollo son of Zeus. Apollo is a major deity in ancient Greek myths, God of music, poetry, the sun, the arts, healing and much more. in other tales, Orpheus father is the King of Thrace, Oeagrus.
Nicolas Fouquet was born in 1615 in the city of Paris. He was born into a wealthy and influential family, and he would enjoy a prosperous and successful career until instantaneous tragedy strikes and its all taken away from him. the famed French writer and philosopher, Voltaire wrote of Nicolas Fouquet’s fate, On August 17, at six in the evening Fouquet was King of France, at two in the morning, he was nobody.
The year is 62AD and a massive 7.5 earthquake has just devastated the city of Pompeii. The foundations of the city were shaken to the core, and the buildings, homes and temples suffered severe damage. Pompeii is located 241 Kilometers or 149 miles south of Rome and at the time was home to 20,000 Pompeiians. unfortunately for the population of Pompeii, the worst was yet to come.
The name Medusa, for many of us conjures the image of a woman with snakes for hair sometimes with the body of a snake sometimes the body of a woman or other monstrous form, but the mythical origins of Medusa are much darker and much more tragic.
The villagers now had a confession, confirming their greatest fears and making witchcraft very real. They also now knew that more witches were hiding among their small righteous community. The hunt to find the witches that plagued the village of Salem had begun.
Winter of 1692 was bitterly cold and brutal in the newly founded Massachusetts Bay Colony, the ground was covered in a thick blanket of snow and ice coated the trees, farms and homes like a shiny frigid layer of translucent glass. The bone chilling winds howled, it was the kind of January cold that would take your breath away and leave your exposed fingers frostbitten in minutes. 20 miles north of Boston an incident is about to occur that will spawn the hysteria of an entire town and lead to the deaths of 20 colonists accused of signing the Devil’s book, they would hang for witchcraft.
