Pastor Mark will deliver the third installment of our “The Good Work” series, honing in on how Nehemiah was able to convince the people to “be somebody” in order to get the wall built in record time; our Bible lesson comes from Nehemiah 2:17-18.
Each one of us has a good work to do. We may not see it yet, but it’s often right there in front of our eyes. For Nehemiah, it was a crumbled wall. For you, it could be an injustice in the world, or a need you see what no one else does. During this series, we will learn how Nehemiah responded to his own calling and learn how we can change our own world just by leaning into the unique calling that God has put in front of each of us.

In the conclusion of the Sacred Selfie series, Pastor Mark challenges us to ask how has God impacted your life and who does God want to impact through your life.
Everyone is guilty of comparing their lives with others. Often we compare the totality of our lives with the perceived perfection of others. Comparing to others sets up self as the standard as opposed to Jesus. What are the standards you tend to succumb to? How does comparing with Jesus change this?
This week, Pastor Mark begins a new series entitled, "Sacred Selfies." As we kick off this new series, we will explore how important it is for Jesus followers to understand that identity is found in God. This message will delve into the desires of our hearts, the things that scare us, and the perspective we need to faithfully face the future. This promises to be a meaningful series, and we want you to come and be a part!
This week, Daniel Barron discusses the Bible can be used to know Jesus more and help us better able to serve the Lord.
Do you ever think about the connection between obedience to God and transformation of your life? They definitely work together, but what happens when we get it wrong? What happens if we have good intention, but no follow-through? What happens if we have follow-through without the best of intention? Pastor Mark will help us explore these ideas as we consider Jesus’ parable of the two sons as recorded in Matthew 21:23-32 in his message, “Better of the Bad.”
Pastor Mark teaches about aspects of God’s grace, using Matthew 20:1-16. One of the ideas came from how grace can at times feel messy. Either we don’t feel we need God’s grace — and look down on those who do — or we feel like there isn’t enough grace to save us from our failings. Regardless how we feel, we all are in need of God’s grace, and can realize the depth of it when we turn our hearts toward the Lord.
Pastor Mark discusses how forgiveness doesn't equal trust and how God is in charge of everything that happens.
This week we will acknowledge Labor Day. Pastor Mark deliveres a message on the importance of working from a godly point of view. Our Bible lesson comes from 1 Corinthians 3:1-9, and we will explore the importance of working together, working on purpose, and working for God. Thank you for joining us at Hope Church today, and we hope you experience the goodness of God’s heartfuel while you’re here.
American culture is a culture of comfort. It’s being sold to us everywhere we look. We’re encouraged to do what we want, when we want, with whomever we want. If something is uncomfortable, we want to avoid it at all costs. The Christian faith, though, is just that: uncomfortable. This four-week series, we will embrace, understand, and see the beauty and hope in the challenging realities of being part of God’s people.
