The Delightful Discourse podcast, was born out of a personal dark season, and I touch on it, explaining how it has evolved to inspire hope by the grace of God. Dear listeners,

In Kenya, the Finance Bill brought and still has brought so much tension. Lives have been lost, innocent people have been seriously injured and some even abducted. What does it mean to be in a democracy?

In this special episode, I address a crucial topic that affects every Kenyan: The Finance Bill. Inspired by the words of great leaders who have shaped history, this episode is a heartfelt letter to the President of Kenya.

Understanding the finance bill is essential as it outlines how the government plans to generate revenue and allocate resources, impacting our daily lives, from the taxes we pay to the services we receive. However, recent events have left a mark on our nation. Tuesday, 25th June 2024, was chaotic—property worth billions was destroyed, and lives were lost. I take this moment to remember those who tragically lost their lives during the riots. Their bravery and dedication will not be forgotten.

I call upon the President to listen to the voices of the people, and never again to turn a deaf ear. I call upon Him to remember the sacrifices made and lead Kenya towards a brighter, more stable future. As Wangari Maathai once said, this is a time for a new level of consciousness and higher moral ground.

Our nation deserves leadership that is responsive, responsible, and rooted in the welfare of its citizens.

Quotes

  • Winston Churchill, 'Never was so much owed by so many to so few.'
  • Nelson Mandela, "Leadership is about more than just making decisions; it's about making the right decisions for the people."
  • Martin Luther King Jr, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
  • Wangari Maathai, 'In the course of history, there comes a time when humanity is called to shift to a new level of consciousness, to reach a higher moral ground.'

In this week's episode, I share a piece of me and how my love life and relationships were deeply affected by incidents that occurred in elementary school. I decide to get vulnerable for you to see and rest assured that even in your brokenness, there is hope and healing.

If you do not deal with past trauma, it will always find a way to raise its' head. I will talk more about this in today's episode.

"Some scars never fade, but that is the fact of life." Learning to live with these scars is a process and it takes courage to allow the emotions and the experiences to penetrate you in order for you to detach.

Getting to the point of Lamentations 3:21-24 where the author says,

I’ll never forget the trouble, the utter lostness,

the taste of ashes, the poison I’ve swallowed.

I remember it all—oh, how well I remember—

the feeling of hitting the bottom.

But there’s one other thing I remember

and remembering, I keep a grip on hope:

God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out,

his merciful love couldn’t have dried up.

They’re created new every morning.

How great your faithfulness!

I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over).

He’s all I’ve got left.

Takes time. Grief is a part of life and is not only attached to the death of a loved one. It could be you are losing your grip on your marriage, your job, your finances, and anything sentimental to you. Sit and bask in the emotion, wear it like a shirt because then, you are able to face it head-on and detach. In today's episode, we reflect on Job and we feature a clip from psych2go.net for more insights on grief. My prayer is you gain a sense of comfort and healing as you listen to this therapeutic episode. Always remember that You are never too much for Christ to handle. He knows.

Trauma, trials, and hardships are a disguise of what lies underneath; Gifts. Gifts that can only be discovered once we choose to not sweep anything under the carpet, because at the end of the day, that area will stink and infect the entire space. This week we talk about Moses and how he approached his disguised gift. We also highlight the story of Taruri Gatere courtesy of Engage talk who emerged stronger on the other side after battling a life of trauma for quite a while. I love what Fred Rogers once said...

"Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.”

Are you mentioning to someone what you are going through or are you bottling it up inside? Are you numbing your gut feelings, choosing not to see the red flags because of what you went through?

Let's talk and feel free to reach out to themusingsdiary@gmail.com

This is the testimony of a Buddhist turned Christian and possessing a Muslim name.

From the tender age of 2, Fatima Oliver knew nothing else apart from ABUSE, LOSS, and SURVIVAL. At a stage in her life when everything seemed to work out, she contemplated suicide. For 9 years, she stayed in an abusive marriage, until she decided to walk away from what she always knew...

She is a living testimony of God's saving grace and the fact that indeed pain does give clarity. Be sure to get in touch via themusingsdiary@gmail.com, let us know how the testimony has impacted you, and feel free to share your redemption story as well.

Unknown According to Luskin, forgiveness entails an experience of peace and understanding that comes with lessening the blame of that which has hurt you, taking lifes' experiences less personally, and seeing the cost of holding a grudge. Knowing 'the why' is always important. It is the foundation upon which you build upon. If the foundation is destroyed, the Bible says, what can the righteous do? If you do not have a 'why' for what you do, you have no foundation to build upon. Simon Sinek put it so clearly. He said, "People do not buy WHAT you do, but WHY you do it." There are gaps in our lives that are nothing but traps, there are others that present golden opportunities. The bottom line remains, we have to be keen and note areas that present these gaps. It goes without say, that there was a reason why we were instructed to be sober and vigilant. Let's talk.

There is nothing as hard as accepting and recognizing our weaknesses, failures, and flaws, but it is only when we do so that we experience liberation and freedom. As a result, we start the journey towards getting to where we desire to be. Paul in 2Corinthians12:9-10 confesses that as soon as he recognized his weaknesses, Gods' strength began to move in on them. He was transformed by accepting the fact that, as a human being my soul is nothing but a 'beggar and thief.' Tune in for more and leave a message using the message button!

"The greatest enemy of hunger for God is not poison but apple pie. It is not the banquet of the wicked that dulls our appetite for heaven, but endless nibbling at the table of the world. It is not the x-rated videos, but the prime time dribble of triviality we drink every night." John Piper

The world promises a 'filling' in contrast to God who calls us to 'hunger and thirst'. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be satisfied. When you study the book of Psalms 73:25-26, you can feel and touch the soul of that prayer. You can feel the desperation and despair that draws David nearer to God. I am so excited about this 2 part episode! Much as we are in a fast-paced world, sometimes, we need to take a step back and take stock of our spiritual lives. We move so far away... so far away...falling so far, even without realizing.

"Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever."May this be our prayer. Join me next Friday for Part 2!
