Я хочу поехать на дачу!» On this episode I am talking about dacha / дача, delving into a history of this authentic Russian phenomenon, showing up extracts from Russian classic literature which tackle the dacha theme (Anton Chekhov, Ivan Bunin) and interviewing my grandma and a friend of mine deciding on what is actually dacha for us 🙂 The initial idea behind Dacha was about leisure, enjoyment and relaxing. However, the Soviet Era changed everything. Would Russians rediscover “Bunin’s and Chekhov’s” dachas for themselves? Would they grow cherry trees or potatoes, or both? It remains to be seen.
