In this podcast we will discuss how college and faith intersect in the lives of college students at Louisiana Tech and Grambling University.
Tonight, one of our speaking pastors Matt kicked off our dating series by walking through 1 Corinthians 6:12-20. Matt poses three questions for you to consider. Is dating beneficial for you? Will dating dominate/master/enslave your life? Does dating help you or hinder you from focusing on eternal things? And he closes with a warning: flee from sexual immorality, don’t flirt with it.
This week Bridge youth pastor, Jake walks us through scripture and begs the question what is the Gospel and how do we handle conflict resolution as believers?
There are many high and lows in a walk with Christ, but I will look to him alone with the help of others along the way.
God is always good and fully in control and I am called to pray continually while also trusting in Him no matter how He answers.
As the Gospel moves to the gentiles we are challenged to see ways we misunderstand and misinterpret the gospel and how important it is to rightly bear witness to Jesus.
The kingdom of God is bigger than all of us. We are all called and gifted by God to play our part, to form christ together so the world may come to know him.
This week John walks through Gods call for us to surrender our lives and all that we have , for the sake of his glory and our benefit.
This week we look at how God has created Gospel community for us. We see how are devotion to that community produces growth in Christ and how that growth leads others to christ.
When we Bear witness to Jesus, both in what we say and how we live , we expect opposition but we do not stop.
This week we look at God's faithfulness and how he is always at work. We see how God empowers us to believe the gospel and share it with others.
Tonight John concludes the Sermon On The Mount by finishing out Matthew 7:21-29. The challenge that presented itself tonight is what is our "why" for living? In verse 22 of Matthew 17 it is said that many will call upon the Lord claiming they have done miraculous works for the kingdom but the Lord will respond "I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness." The questions now that we must ask ourselves are: Are we living for ourselves and looking to impress God with works we have done and building our life upon that? Or are we looking to do the will of the Father, placing our faith and trust in Him, the true firm foundation and cornerstone of our life?
This week Matt slate walks through Matthew 7:15-20 in Jesus’s Sermon on the mount. Matte covers the earring against false prophet to lead us away from the path God has for us. Matt breaks this down into three points
- Ultimately we are responsible for who we follow and learn from.
- We have a response to squeeze the fruit. ( we know the false prophets by their fruits and we should inspect the fruit of those we give spiritual authority over our lives.)
- Ignorance is not an excuse.
Tonight John continues to teach through sermon on the mount in Matthew 7:12-14. Tonight we look at the narrow gate and what it looks like to enter into heaven. The problem with trying to enter the narrow gate is us trying to walk through it. No matter how good we are, are goodness isn’t god enough for God. John address are struggle with giving over control of our lives to Christ and what surrender to The gospel looks like.
This past Wednesday at College life we discussed Matthew 7:1-6 about judgment. We learned that the Gospel encounters us in a couple of ways: in our mess and with others, but what stood out to me was the phrase “we are naturally arrogant towards ourselves and ignorant towards others”. This passage reminded me how easy it is to get so wrapped up in my line of thinking or perceptions and not considering what the Bible says about certain situations or circumstances. It was such a good reminder to love others and meet them where they are and to rest in the fact that Christ lived, died, and rose again for ALL who believe.
Tonight we start back in the sermon series “sermon on the mount” Tonight’s scripture come from Matthew 6:25-27. Tonight we look at how’s God’s love surpass all worry that we face. We see the desperate need for ourselves to understand and know the love that God has for us.
This week we continue the dating series. we changed things up this week by having a panel of members of our church who have pursed Christ for themselves and in their relationships. We had Sawyer and Jaylin a recently engaged couple, Jake and Micha who were recently married , Matt and Christen who have been married for sixteen years. Each of these couple bring wisdom and different perspective on having a health dating relationship focused on the pursuit of Christ.
This week John Introduces the new mini series "define the relationship". We talk about gods design for us as his creation and how that apply to us in times of singleness ,dating and marriage.
Tonight we are going to deal with the idea of prayer and fasting and others. We look at how that everything we do should be practiced out of a heart for god and not a heart for ourselves and our glory. Tonight’s scripture comes from Matthew 6: 5-6 , 16-18. We see tonight that we are satisfied to easily by things of this world and not things of Christ.
This week pastor and elder Matt Slate preaches on the discipline of giving. Tonight’s scripture continues in the sermon on the mount Matthew 6:1-4. Matt talks on these point around giving and our heart behind it.
- our desire to be approved by others leaves us disapproved by Jesus.
- following Jesus calls us to be a contributor not a consumer
- eternal rewards are always greater than earthly affirmation
Tonight John walks through Matthew 5:43-48 and what it looks like to love your enemies. We as people want something or somebody to dislike and this is not what Christ calls us to do. Christ calls us to love and pray for those who are against us. This is a hard concept for us to not only process but practice. John showed us tonight how Jesus calls us to live and act in these situations.
John continues to preach through “the sermon on the mount” this week we cover the topic of retaliation in Matthew 5: 38-42. This passage covers what we should do when we’re done wrong by others. We address how to handle wrong done to us and how to glorify Christ in these situations.
This week we look at what fasting and how it plays into are walk with christ. We cover wha the biblical definition of fasting is as well as particle ways to implement prayer and fasting into our walk with lord. We do all of this in preparation for 21 days prayer and fasting thats starts in January.
This week our youth pastor Jake Handley teaches on marriage and divorce. He covers God's design for marriage, the suffering of marriage through divorce and how to have security of marriage in Christ.
This week we continue are walk through the series’s "The Sermon On The Mount'. This week our Residency Director Jess joins John on the stage to talk adultery and lust. We look at Matthew 5 :27-30 and ask the question what is adultery? What does it mean to be lustful? How do we deal with these things in a manner that honors God and our relationship's?
This week we look at how to internally follow God not just on the outside. We look at the first of six sections of the sermon on the mount where Jesus says, "you have heard that it was said”. We cover anger and the hostility of the heart, and how our sins and not just the sins others effect us. We look at how to deal with anger in manor that brings glory to God and reconciliation with others.
This week John continues to walk through Jesu's Sermon on the Mount. We look at how the gospel covers us and transforms our life. We also look at what life looks like after salvation and how to live into the fullness of what Christ has for us.
This week University Leader, Christian Crosby, continues our walk through Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. We look a Matthew 5:13-16 and we talk what our purpose is in Christ and how we live into it. We also look at how living that purpose out as an internal impact not only in our lives, but the lives of those around us.
This week we continued walking through Jesus sermon on the mount. John finishes the beatitudes (Matt 5:7-12). He talks about how to align are lives with Christ. John covers what it looks like to be merciful, pure in heart ,peacemakers and persecuted. We hope that you will grow in your relationship with this Christ and as thanks for listening .
This week we began to cover the Beatitudes in Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. We looked at where we find our satisfaction. Do we find it in things of this world or do we find our satisfaction in Jesus christ. We also looked at how to begin living in that satisfaction and how to do that through the Gospel.
This week we begin the Sermon On The Mount Series. In this series we will walk verse by verse through Jesus's Sermon on Mount Olive. We will be looking at Matthew 5: 1-2 and discussing what it means to be a disciple of christ.
In this episode we look at John 10. Jesus is our great shepherd and we who have come to God through Him are His sheep. In His sacrifice we find our worth and protection. Lost alone and unprotected, Jesus calls our name and we come to Him. 3 things we learn through this parable are that the only way to God is through Jesus, No one who comes through Jesus will excluded and even after Jesus has saved Us, He isn't finished with us. He continues to be our good shepherd forever.
