In this week’s episode, Erica and Lauren discuss their current favorite life hack! Rest.

Before the pandemic, we both lived fast-paced lives where rest was something that got in the way of all the things we were trying to achieve. After experiencing our own version of burnout going into 2020, the universe put us on timeout and we came out of that bigger, brighter and the most well-rested versions of ourselves.

Today, we value rest more than most activities and in this episode we share our journey with falling in love with stillness, rest and by the end you’ll see that REST IS PRODUCTIVE.

In this week’s episode Lauren and Erica interview Life Coach and Friend Break Up Expert Katherine “Kat” Sleadd. In this conversation we shed light on friendships and how they inform all the relationships in our lives. We touch on everything from our personal definitions of friendship, what is your family of origin, as well as friend break-ups and how traumatic they can be. If you’re curious to start a healing path in your friendship journey here are some journal prompts Kat suggests in the episode:

On today’s episode, Erica unpacks her own journey with chronic illness (an autoimmune disease for over a decade) and how functional lab testing helped her discover her own personalized roadmap to healing naturally. For years, conventional medicine told her that “this was just how life was going to be” but Erica never stopped searching and finally found the answers she was looking for. In this episode, she’ll reveal what those answers were and one of her favorite health hacks of all time: Functional Lab Testing.

Functional lab testing does not diagnose disease. Instead it gives us sub-clinical (or pre-disease) data that helps us understand what’s going on in the body and how to rebalance ourselves BEFORE we reach a point where a doctor can diagnose disease.

Through functional lab testing, we can identify vitamin/mineral deficiencies, toxicities (such as mold, yeast, heavy metals, etc.) and imbalances (such as your hormones) and much more. Functional lab testing is an amazing tool, but you have to run them with someone who is trained to interpret them. Because they don’t diagnose disease, most conventional medicine doctors don’t use them or understand them. They are also typically not covered by insurance since they don’t diagnose disease.

If you’re interested in running any of the lab tests Erica shares about in this episode, reach out to schedule your free discovery call and Erica will let you know which test is best for you to start with. You can email her at ericaalisonwellness@gmail.com
