For as late as up until the 1980’s Azerbajdzjan was seen as one of the most unreached countries for the gospel in the world. Azerbaijan is part of a region which had many Christians before the rise of islam. In 1994 Christian Åkerhielm was part of a big evangelistic outreach in this country and got to see many people turn their lives to Christ and a new movement rise up. Listen to his stories from the mission field and get inspired!
Missions start from within. It is about understanding the revelation that Jesus is coming back soon and living it out. God has chosen us all to carry a spirit of missions, no matter our personality, gifts or callings. How can we prepare for Jesus to come back? How can we "be" missions?
We are a part of God’s plan for history! He is the one administrating the plans and vision he has for our lives. He has anointed us and created us with specific gifts and personalities, which he wants to use. The question is: how can we grow and develop who God has made us to be? How can act on the the potential God has put inside of us? This is what this episode is about.
Step into your mission field. The transforming power of the gospel always remains inside of the believer. Missions is something that we are all called to take part in, whether it is where we are in our everyday lives in our own countries or if we are called to the ends of the earth. In this episode Rune inspires us to step into God’s major plan for the world and the expanded life that follows.
God is seeking the Muslim world and in the midst of a turbulent environment with persecution and enmity against the gospel, God reveals himself to Muslims. Spontaneous outbreaks of revival happens in the very place where martyrs have spilled their blood.
Standing in the midst of revival does not make us immune against persecution. Even Jesus met it, but it couldn’t stop him. We see the same thing in the book of Acts. Today, some of the hotspots of revival in the world is happening right in the midst of strong resistance but the gospel is breaking through.
In this episode Christian Åkerhielm answer questions as “How did you find your missionary calling?”, “Can anybody become a missionary?” and “Are there any “must have” qualities you need to become a missionary?”. He tells the story about how he started with missions. Missions is for everyone, but in different ways depending on gifts and calling.
A recent survey showed that 51% of American Christians had not heard of the Great Commission. Only about 20 % had a clear idea of what the Great Commission is. In this episode, Christian Åkerhielm - just back from Iraq, shares about what Missions is all about. The missions field starts outside the church door and stretches all the way to the ends of the world. It involves professional missionaries as well as different members, who together reach needy places. It is time again for the church to catch a strong missionary vision.

When embarking on a faith journey, heading for the mission’s fields, I need to have assurance that God is really backing me up, not backing off.
