Church on the Go is a ministry of Messiah Church in Plymouth, MN. Last winter we launched our very own app for Messiah Church. Within our app, you can truly take Messiah Church with you wherever you are - with access to not only messages, but also faith groups, and upcoming events.
With that, we are suspending the Church on the Go podcast on this platform and invite you to download the app to listen or watch our messages there. You can also still listen to the messages on our YouTube channel. Both are linked below.
On behalf of Pastor Tami, Pastor Bethany, and our entire Church on the Go team, we thank you for listening and hope you take Messiah Church wherever you go with the Messiah Church app.

Thomas - Thomas expressed his doubt about the resurrection of Jesus and then did something counterintuitive. He held his doubt while remaining in the community of faith. Doubt is sure to be present in the community of faith, but rather than leave and give up on faith during times of doubt, we can stay and let the community hold faith for us. God’s presence in such communities can enable a resurrection of a new and deeper faith

Why Do the Innocent Suffer? - If God is all powerful, knowing and just, then why doesn’t God stop the evil, pain, and suffering in our world? How do we reconcile the idea of a good and loving God with natural disasters, with suffering brought about by human decisions, and with suffering that results from illness? God does not promise that we will not suffer, but God does promise that suffering will never have the final word. God is our greatest source of hope, help, comfort, and strength.

Church on the Go is a ministry of Messiah Church in Plymouth, MN. We're so glad you've joined us for this casual church service you can take with you wherever you are! This week, our message is:
Releasing God's Blessings - We often think of blessings as things we receive. While it is true that God, by grace, freely gives us all that we have, we are not just passive recipients of God’s blessings! Just as God blesses us through people in our lives, so does God promise to bless others through us. When we live from a place of gratitude for God’s gifts and trust in God’s provision, we can be agents of God’s blessing in our world.
Welcome to Messiah Church. We've been waiting for you! Messiah is an inclusive community of people who have come alongside each other to love as Jesus did: loving God, loving each other, and putting that love to work in the world.

What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do - God blesses us through suffering and troubled times. Remember that God’s grace moves through unexpected people and unexpected things.
What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do - Many of us struggle with the difficult moments in our lives because we don’t realize that it’s okay to not be okay. But troubled times do come. And you will be okay!
What Do You Do When You Don't Know What to Do? - There are times in life when we don’t know what to do, and we find ourselves having to wait for direction. Jesus calls us to get back to the basics. He calls us to the table of grace, to find him in the community.
What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do - When you’re struggling with how to answer the big questions, it’s important to remember to have faith in God. Also remember that God has faith in you!
What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do - Sometimes we know the right answer to our questions, but we struggle with where that answer will take us.
Back to the Bible - The Youth Sunday theme is Back to the Bible, a take on the 1985 movie Back to the Future, where our own “Marty McFly” and “Doc” learn all about stories of women in the Bible through some pretty unconventional means.
Luke: Jesus and the Outsiders, Outcasts and Outlaws - Jesus dies as a criminal, hung on a cross between two outlaws. Even in death, Jesus continues to identify with the lowly.

Luke: Jesus and the Outsiders, Outcasts and Outlaws - In the final week of Jesus’s life, his teachings and encounters with others express what matters most to him. Who is the greatest?
Luke: Jesus and the Outsiders, Outcasts and Outlaws - Jesus’ journey to Jerusalem, a trip that most likely only took about nine days, comprises 40% of Luke’s gospel. This is an indication that Luke thinks this is important stuff and therefore, we should take note. This Sunday, we’ll focus on the story of the healing of the Samaritan leper that again demonstrates Jesus’s passion for lifting up the lowly.
Luke: Jesus and the Outsiders, Outcasts and Outlaws - Jesus often taught through stories and parables. Stories have a heartbeat, and we will listen together to the Gospel of Luke for the heartbeat in one of Jesus’ parables.
Luke: Jesus and the Outsiders, Outcasts and Outlaws - Jesus valued women, saw them, had compassion for them, ministered with them, and lifted them up. Jesus saw them as children of God, and Jesus sees you.

Luke: Jesus and the Outsiders, Outcasts and Outlaws - Jesus came to lift up the lowly. This is a central theme of Luke’s Gospel, which we find in the opening stories as God chooses and uses the “very old” and young people to bring about His purposes.

Telling Your Story - Each of us is significant and our stories matter. There is someone who needs to hear your story and feel welcomed into the story of God.
Telling Your Story - Each of us is significant and our stories matter. There is someone who needs to hear your story and feel welcomed into the story of God.
Telling Your Story - Part of our redemption comes from telling our whole story. By telling the whole story, we are able to see how through God’s grace, even the greatest of sinners are redeemed.
Telling Your Story - Part of our redemption comes from telling our whole story. By telling the whole story, we are able to see how through God’s grace, even the greatest of sinners are redeemed.
Telling Your Story - From Netflix to social media, stories fill our imagination and time. The problem is we often compare our stories with others and feel unimportant. The good news is you are connected to the greatest story ever told.
Why?- With this final message in our series, we’ll see how God works in our world and how our faith sustains us and gives us hope. God promises to walk with us, work through us, and force the evil and suffering in life to bend toward good. With God, the worst thing is never the last thing.
Why? - Is everything that happens predetermined by God’s will and bound to take place, or does God give us the freedom to resist his plan? God can and will transform our pain, redeem our suffering, and lift us out of the darkest of pits. Out of these dark moments, God writes a story of triumph. And with God as our co-author, the dark times are never the end of our story.
Why? Many people struggle with faith when they feel as though God is silent in times of great need. To help us make sense of this, we’ll see what Jesus had to say about prayer and consider the various ways God answers.
Why? - If God is all powerful, knowing and just, then why doesn’t God stop the evil, pain, and suffering in our world? How do we reconcile the idea of a good and loving God with natural disasters, with suffering brought about by human decisions, and with suffering that results from illness? God does not promise that we will not suffer, but God does promise that suffering will never have the final word. God is our greatest source of hope, help, comfort, and strength.
Epiphany - We continue the story of Jesus’ birth as we celebrate Epiphany, the arrival of the Magi, and greeting the newborn King. Through their long journey, we’ll see how the good news of Jesus moves beyond Bethlehem and becomes good news for the world.
Bringing Love - Joseph has a dream, revealing God’s promise of Emmanuel. Through it, Joseph discovers the gift of love among us.
Bringing Joy - “My soul proclaims your greatness, O Lord!” begins the Magnificat, Mary’s song of praise. Her song reminds us that in Christ we may find joy in all circumstances.

Bringing Peace - It is through the birth of Christ that God speaks peace to his people — we only need to turn our hearts towards God to receive it. As we long for the peaceable kingdom described by the prophet Isaiah, we put our hope in the promise of peace that Jesus offers for a beloved community.

Earn, Save, Give - In our heart of hearts, we know that by simply increasing our wealth we cannot satisfy the deepest longings of our soul. Changing the way we use our money sets us free from the bondage of narrow self-interest and opens our lives to the way the Spirit of God can work through us in the lives of others.

Earn. Save, Give. - Having earned all we can, we move to John Wesley’s second rule of Christian care - to save all you can. At the center of a biblical perspective on money and possessions is an awareness that none of it really belongs to us. We are stewards of things given by an extravagantly generous God who trust us to act wisely with our gifts, modeling God's own generosity.

We are stewards of things given by an extravagantly generous God who trust us to act wisely with our gifts, modeling God's own generosity.
Earn. Save. Give. - How we use our money is no small matter. It goes all the way to the heart of our relationship with God and our lives as disciples of Jesus Christ. In this series, we’ll discover that wisdom is more valuable than money. In what John Wesley called the “excellent gift” of money, we'll learn how to fulfill God’s highest and best purpose for us and for the world in which we live.

All Saints Day - We celebrate and remember those who have made the journey or who have taken the next step. We remember them because they are still a part of us, shaping us, mentoring us – maybe not in a direct way, but in a real way. We are who we are, in part, because of who they were. So, we give thanks for those who have gone before, whether immediately or historically. And through them, we remember that there are companions with us still.

Be Just. Be Kind. Be Humble. - We'll take one last look at the three essential attributes God requires of us (to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God), and see how those attributes work together to make us good neighbors.

Be Just. Be Kind. Be Humble - Ours is a God of surprises. Calling those least expected to lead. Showing up in ways we never anticipate. And today? Calling us to uncover the kingdom of God through being humble.

Be Just. Be Kind Be Humble - What does this really look like? Tomorrow, we’ll explore the second essential practice of kindness – discovering that it is more than being “nice,” and ultimately, how it leads us to greater joy.

Be Just. Be Kind. Be Humble. - Is greatness really the best goal for an organization, a nation, a business, or a church? The prophet Micah didn’t seem to think so. Tomorrow, we’ll turn to scripture to see that greatness is vastly overrated. Biblically speaking, greatness is actually the enemy of goodness.

Plugged In to Loving God, Loving Each Other, and Loving the World - We are on this earth for a purpose and Messiah Church is a place where your life and purpose connect. When we plug in, Jesus fills our lives with meaning; but that’s not the end of the story! Joining in Jesus’ work to love the world means seeing that the poor, the sick, the prisoners, the immigrants are not “them” at all — they’re “us.” Jesus calls us to build a legacy of loving one another as one human family, caring and sharing the way he did.

At the Movies - Just minutes after the explosion, the mission to land on the moon was scrapped by NASA. Then the most important element of the mission was getting the three astronauts back to earth alive. In life, there will be obstacles, setbacks, and challenges. By developing tenacity, we can give ourselves the fuel to keep going. It will help in the short term to overcome the daily distractions and to have hope.

People of the Light - When we bring the things that cause us stress into prayer, we put ourselves and our troubles inside a much bigger picture – the story of God’s love for us in Jesus Christ. That leads to thanksgiving. In the final chapter of this letter, Paul offers three keys to living a meaningful life.

A Story of New Beginnings - In the rebuilding of the wall, Nehemiah did not allow himself to get distracted or derailed from the work God was calling him to do. If we are to continue the work God is calling us to do, we must keep “the main thing” the main thing. We’ll see one more example from Nehemiah of what a faithful servant of God looks like and what Jesus had to say about “the main thing.”

A Story of New Beginnings - Maybe you’ve you heard it said that there is no “I” in “team." Accomplishing the great work God is calling us to do requires teamwork. We see how Nehemiah gathered and inspired an entire community to do something extraordinary and how those same principles can still be effective today.

The Roads We Walk - We take roads every day, to work and home, to church, and to friends and family. Some of these roads are worn and familiar, some unknown. But every road has opportunities for surprises and new experiences of hope, learning, and seeing Jesus in our midst. This week, we’ll consider the roads traveled that made us who we are, and consider those yet unknown, trusting that along the way our eyes will be opened to see Jesus among us.

Thin Places - We all wish we could stop time, to cherish a moment forever. In learning to be still, we are learning kairos time – purposeful, God-appointed time. In touch with God’s purpose, we can boldly “seize the day” and pray audacious prayers like Joshua’s.

Thin Places - One of the great mysteries of faith is unanswered prayer. If prayer is a conversation with God or a way of communicating with God, why is God so silent? Didn’t Jesus say, “ask and it will be given to you.” So where is God? The disciples of John also had this question.

Thin Places - Life is noisy—metaphorically, in our busyness, if not literally. It can be hard to stop, tough to deal with silence. Like Elijah, we keep running, motivated by fear and anxiety. But God says to stop and listen; God will show up not in the noise, but in the quiet.
