This week, in a solo episode, Jen tackles the concepts of surrender vs. trust. She unpacks what those words mean in her own life, how she has been applying them to her life and biz practices and looking at certain idiomatic phrases in English that use the words. Phrases such as “surrender to the process” or “just trust” tend to over-simplify our relationship with these words. But what does that really mean? And how can looking closely at your relationship with these words improve your life? Disclaimer: On the No Halos Here Podcast, we explore a wide range of topics broadly categorized as well-being. What is ‘The Gap’? Why is it important to see the gaps in your own experience and being? Listen in to this brief episode where Jen + Jane introduce you to ‘The Gap’, how becoming aware of it in their own lives has led to some interesting observations, including these five reasons you don’t (want to) see ‘The Gap’ We treat our discomforts and illnesses in silos. We are conditioned to focus on the outcome, not the process. We avoid discomfort at all costs - so it’s easier to numb ourselves to these things than actually look at them. We aren’t taught to listen to our bodies. Positivity culture ignores underlying patterns, conditioning, and trauma

In this episode Jen + Jane discuss the Mental Load that women carry, often by choice, when it comes to the home, minding family, and letting loved ones fail. This involves ‘letting go’. But it’s often not as simple as that. Listen in as they look at the many different facets and implications of letting loved ones own their journeys, letting go of others' (and their own) expectations, and how or where the patterns first showed up. Do you ever get stuck in a loop around how you feel and how you look? Listen in as Jen + Jane unpack what Self-Acceptance is for them right now, the journeys they have each experienced with (and without) self-acceptance, and how they are asking themselves the challenging questions that lead to more complete self-acceptance and increased self-confidence. Enjoy this conversation where they sink into the F^@k-it Forties and all the gifts and challenges it provides. Questions for further guidance: ● What would it take for you to accept yourself, fully, as all you are, right here, and right now? ● How can you get curious about what has caused you to question yourself - whether it’s how your body is changing or how others are responding to you. In this Episode Jen + Jane welcome guest Suzanne Culberg (bio below). This is rather a sweary episode, so it is likely not safe for work or for kiddos. Jen + Jane and Suzanne discuss the traps we can all fall into when we decide to ‘do some work’, the dangers of idolizing a particular person, method, or path, and how endless enthusiasm cannot stop the fact that the beginning is $h!t. They cover everything from over-giving and over-functioning to diet fails and relationship distress. Enjoy the convo! Guest Bio: Suzanne Culberg is an international mindset coach who transforms bodies and minds. She is also a speaker and author (of The Beginning is Sht, an unapologetic weight-loss memoir). Suzanne believes women often gain weight because they give too much to others. They over-eat because they over-give. This pattern of over-giving can also manifest in other areas of life, such as work and relationships. Suzanne helps her clients deal with negative patterns of behavior, build confidence, and create lasting change. She lives in Sydney, Australia with her husband and two young children who keep her both busy and entertained. In this last of the series exploring Fierce Serenity through the lens of different bodies, Jen and Jane share their experience with their own unfolding spiritual practices, looking at where the spiritual body practices are connected to the physical, mental, and emotional bodies, and how they are taking an even closer look at the language around the capitalist spirituality industry, sharing where they have to apply their own Fierce Serenity to the work they do. They also talk about how simple, day-to-day practices such as listening to the birds, being out in nature, and eating with presence and mindfulness are straightforward ways to grow your own spiritual practice. But what if each moment of your day, meal, each thing you touched, was a spiritual experience? The books and resources we mentioned are listed below. What does Fierce Serenity in your physical world mean? In this episode Jen and Jane open up and share practices to tune into and work with your physical energy. Our day to day lives frequently ask us to rush around, in our heads, over-thinking, not able to BE, fully in our bodies and our environment. Yes, a meditation practice can help, but if your mind is running fast, how can you be present with your body? Jane and Jen unpack personal experiences that illustrate how our daily lives full of meetings, driving places, and socializing can contribute to feelings disconnected from our physical selves. Included below is a list of some of the practices they use to ground back into their physical selves. ● Exploring a rock or stone with your fingertips ● Laying on the floor for five minutes ● Shaking (look it up on YouTube) ● Do a few Sit-Ups ● Power Pose (see link to Amy Cuddy TEDTalk below) ● Bath or Shower ● Eat grounding Food - root vegetables like potatoes, parsnips, turnips, carrots, etc. ● Gentle Embodied Movement - put on some tunes and move your body gently ● Tai Chi Fierce Serenity starts the week of May 15th. Last week we covered Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) with our guest Adele Anderson. Adele is an NLP Trainer and life coach who had a Near-Death-Experience (NDE) at age 27. Her recovery and exploration of the experience led her to the study and practice of NLP. Her current focus is working with clients who have suffered loss and who are ready to re-define their relationship with grief. In this second episode, we discuss her NDE, how current brain science supports a more holistic view of Mind-Body-Spirit, and how our words effectively shape our reality. Enjoy the conversation! Adele Anderson Bio: At 27 years old, Adele Anderson survived a plane crash. That near-death and life experience changed Adele’s path and led her on a deeper journey of discovery so that she could help others. Little did she expect she would experience a significant loss later in life. Adele admits drowning in a capsized plane was easier than becoming a widow. Her grief from the loss of her life partner proved deafening, a deep wound that still weeps when the Band-Aid is pulled off, raw and tender when touched. Loss challenged every aspect of her life, but she did find relief through community, neuroscience, nutrition, and by embodying a rich spiritual practice. Adele is an NLP Trainer, Homeopath, and Soul Coach and has had the privilege of helping those seeking happiness since 2002. Along with being an author, Adele has been on countless stages sharing her messages of hope. How do you find happiness when life doesn’t look so bright? It’s a solo episode with Jen today, talking about taking care of all your various bodies - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and your ‘quintessence’. Checking in with each of your bodies on a daily basis can lead to better decision-making, higher emotional intelligence, and improved relationship with self, and with others. Jen talks about the signs that you may not be seeing around tuning into your various bodies, as well as how to honor each of them on a daily basis. It needs more water and to balance activity with rest and reflection. ○ Quintessence: I use an oracle card to guide me to my ‘higher-self’ needs. Today’s card for me was “Release”. In this week’s episode, we talk about what we had planned for this week. Annnnd how we decided to do something different. Jane discusses how a virus (not Covid) knocked her flat for the past 10 days and Jen talks about how she is feeling an urge to let go of documents, files, paperwork, and more, from her past. There is a real calling to go inward right now, so we are encouraging you all to prioritize self-care, highlight inner reflection, and see what comes up for you. As humans, we are hardwired for connection. With this basic need for connection, subconsciously, we can become emotional sponges, where we absorb and take on other people’s stuff, energetically and emotionally. We start to identify their problems as ours and this is why we want to introduce the concept of setting energetic boundaries, to help ask the question, “Is this mine to carry?” Listen in as Jen and Jane personally connect with how they have taken on the unnecessary burden of processing their loved ones' stuff for them and how it isn't serving anyone. They discuss what it looks and feels like to have a Saviour complex with your friends and family and how you can get into the habit of always trying to fix things for other people. When we do this we are actually blocking others from learning how to fix or process their own stuff. When we take on our own stuff and others, emotions can get trapped in the body, which turns into dis-ease and chronic pain. Jen and Jane explain what an emotional release is and how to implement it into your life when things are starting to get overwhelming. When we are able to decipher what is our shit and what is others' shit, we can begin to heal and allow the other to do their own work. It also takes a huge weight off our shoulders. Acknowledgment, Celebration (or not), and Reality. Where are you at? This year has been a big one in so many ways: Big Emotions. Big Developments. Big Changes. Big Adjustments (or not). Just… well. Big. Listen in as Jen + Jane debate on what (if anything) to celebrate, how to acknowledge what this year has been, and some tools and tips to support you over the Holiday season. One of those tools is https://www.wearejenandjane.com/playbook (The Empowerment Playbook). If you haven’t already downloaded it, we encourage you to do that and set aside 20 minutes where you can move through some of the feelings you’re experiencing. It will support you with observing, noticing, and accepting where you’re at. It will help you articulate more clearly what you might be needing. Above all, we hope it will help bring you an opportunity for calm as we move through this. Jen talks about the way “play” was an essential part of her musical training and experiences, while Jane talks about how play is systematically and gradually removed from kids’ lives through the education system. Listen in as Jen & Jane discuss real-life examples of when they asked for or got what they wished for, only it didn't quite come in the package they were expecting. For Jen, it is her urge for spaciousness and what she has had to let go of, and Jane takes us through her desire for significant change 1 year ago and what it really looked like. They noticed how uncomfortable even getting what we ask for can feel, as it can leave a void of pause between the old and the new ways of life. Tune in as Jen & Jane tell us how to recognize when your wishes come true (and not to stop them!), and how to celebrate them. In this episode, Jen and Jane will be working with the power that comes with seasonal change. As we are leaving the summer behind us and entering into fall, Jen and Jane have noticed how this new season and its weather is encouraging us to slow down, go inwards and regroup, yet the busyness of September requires us to ramp up back into school and our jobs. So, how do we balance the energy of the seasons with the pace of today’s life? Listen in as Jen and Jane discuss the different energies that the seasons bring, how to slow down, and how to listen to our internal clock of our bio rhythm, to give ourselves what we need to harness the power of the seasonal change. In a conversational style episode, Jane and Julie Boyer share their unique near-death experiences (NDE) and what we’ve learned from them. Their experiences were both connected to childbirth; Julie’s was after her second miscarriage and Jane’s was after she hemorrhaged after giving birth to her first child. Neither of them understood what they had experienced until years later and they both questioned whether their experiences were ‘real’. As Jane and Julie explore this together, they share the amazing gifts that have come from their NDE, including deep gratitude and reverence for life. About Julie Boyer: Julie Boyer is the host of the Wake Up With Gratitude™ podcast, an Intuitive Biz + Health Coach, and a three-time Amazon Best-Selling Author. She has been practicing daily gratitude for over a decade. Several years ago, she almost lost her life to a bacterial infection following a miscarriage and spent a week in a medically-induced coma. That life-threatening experience taught her that every single day is a gift. As an entrepreneur and un-schooling mom, with a work-from-home husband, practicing gratitude has changed her life! Join Jen + Jane as they lean into, discuss and practice the art of receiving and intention setting. They examine what it means to receive compliments, gifts, invitations, etc. guilt-free through asking yourself questions like: How are you at receiving?; Are your gestures of kindness rooted in the expectation of something in return? (acceptance, approval, kindness, etc.); Can you receive without expecting anything in return (or giving anything in return)? And in connection with the practice of receiving, Jen + Jane open up an exploration about how our beliefs guide and set our intentions for our lives. They ask their listeners the fundamental question: What intentions (conscious or unconscious) do you set each day with your inner dialogue? Come along with them as they explore these two important practices! Additional Resources/Reading: The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz with Janet Mills
Questions for further guidance: Can you receive a compliment by simply saying “Thank you” ? Notice the intention behind why you’re doing something Where can you substitute “I have to…” with “I get to…”?

In Episode 12, Jane and I discussed coaching, healing, and therapy and how each of these areas supports the client. Today we’ve invited registered psychotherapist Emily Tousaw to share her perspectives and experiences with being a therapist and counsellor, reflecting on the role of these professions in healing, and how her work changes people’s lives. We look at the increasing regulation of these industries and what the nuances are between what makes someone seek out coaching vs. counselling. Resources and Books mentioned: The Body Keeps the Score - Dr. Bessel Van Der Kolk When the Body Says No - Dr. Gabor Mate Guest Bio: Emily Tousaw is a Registered Psychotherapist working with individuals and people in relationships navigating all the ‘life stuff’. She loves working with people to transform their lives through managing anxiety & depression, life transitions, trauma, and recovering a sense of self. She completed her training in Couple and Family Therapy at the University of Guelph and is currently adding Somatic Experiencing training to her repertoire of tools to help release trauma from the body. When she’s not helping people to find their preferred ways of being, Emily loves knitting, canoeing, being in nature, listening to podcasts, going for walks, and spending time with family and friends.

Does perfectionism control your life? How can you refine your perfectionist tendencies while allowing them to serve you? In this episode we share how our journey of recognizing how perfectionism shows up in our lives has both served us, but has also stopped us from moving forward on projects, dreams, and visions. We share what has worked for us in recognizing and trusting our perfectionist tendencies, along with some tips for you to recognize when perfectionism is helping you, and when it’s holding you back. Additional Resources/Reading: We referenced Human Design Profile types in this episode. Jane is a 3/5 Projector and Jen is a 4/6 Projector. You can find out more about your Human Design at https://human.design/ (https://human.design/)
Questions and prompts for further guidance: Do you have ways you manage your perfectionist tendencies? Awareness is one practice you can start today. Stop, reflect, slow down, and/or work with others to recognize where perfectionism stops you. Bring it into your awareness so you can transform it. When you catch yourself in perfectionism, stop and ask “Am I going to let this stop me?” Allow yourself more freedom through messy creativity! Trust the process and what you have ‘in the moment’. Is your creativity ‘lost’? Where can you give yourself permission to be more creative as a response to perfectionism? Some phrases to explore for your own journey through perfectionism: Imperfect action Done is better than perfect

Have we lost our connection to ‘reflection’ because we have mis-identified it as ‘boredom’? In our worshipping of ‘busy’ and ‘doing’ culture, have we forgotten how to simply ‘be’ with ourselves for a moment? In this episode, we explore the value and practices of reflection in our lives, as well as real-life examples of easy ways to build reflection into your day. Here are some ways to help you explore reflection in your own life: Take 3 minutes and reflect on what was meaningful for you in this episode. One of the best places to reflect is in Nature. Walk in Nature, look at a tree, rocks, ocean, etc. and just observe. Use a beginners mindset, curiosity is key Don’t overcomplicate it - do it when and where and you can End of Day Review Practice - What moved you today? What was a highlight? What would you like to do better? Kettle boil reflection - instead of ‘doing’ something while the kettle boils, reflect instead. If you’re a verbal processor, use a Voice Memo or Voice Note or a trusted friend to exchange messages with. Jane and I use Voxer to park our thoughts or reflections without the pressure of having to respond ‘in the moment’. Reflect on the reflection: What did that reflection just show me?
Questions for further guidance: What moved me today? What flowed for me today? What am I feeling? What patterns are here that might be repeating?

In this episode, we take a look at how our beliefs inform our actions and ways of interacting with the world, and how they can change, while still maintaining our values. Broadly, beliefs are based on lived experience, while values are based on needs. Using real-life examples, we look at how our own beliefs have changed over the years and improved our lives, while still honouring the values we hold dear. Do you ‘follow the energy’ in your life, or resist it? In this episode, we talk about making life easier by letting go of the ‘shoulds’ and learning how to follow the energy - both your own and the energy of a situation. Covering everything from parenting creatively in the moment to breaking down ‘hustle culture’ messaging in order to find and honour your own groove. At the end of the episode, we cover some tools and ways to learn how to follow your energy more authentically. Noticing how things show up in your body and your life. Deconditioning and peeling back the layers of what you’ve noticed, then changing the behaviour/habit. Allowing new ways of being into your life - curiosity vs. judgment.

What does a ‘label’ do for us? How are they helpful? How are they hurtful? Who are you without that label? We use the example of being labeled (or taking on the identity) as an ‘introvert’ or an ‘extrovert’ as a springboard into this topic. Reflection questions: Where do you label others, or feel labeled by others, and is there some other outcome from these labels? How can you turn something around that was limiting for you and use it to your advantage?
