Join Ali and Betsy on a journey into the heart of barkness, exploring how we live, laugh and love with our favorite four-legged friends. ‘Dear Dog It’s Us, Ali & Betsy’ is a deep dive into how our dogs walk, run, sleep, drool and hop alongside us through life’s triumphs, challenges, and daily flow. Inspired by our love for our dogs and a shared mission to help people (Ali /Psychotherapist, and Betsy/Life Coach) ‘Dear Dog’ will really dig in; exploring issues on both ends of the leash from every point of poo…um, view. This podcast is for pooch lovers everywhere, so grab your pups and come along!
After Ali’s morning walk with Elphie the foster husky (yes, she’s as cute as she sounds), we dive into a real-talk heart-to-heart about the rollercoaster of rescue work—the wins, the heartbreaks, and all the chaos in between. We also chat about Huck’s latest tummy drama and Ali’s extremely measured reaction to it (spoiler: not so measured). Then we get into some big feelings around immigration, protests, and how to stay grounded when the world feels totally upside-down. It’s fluff, feels, and fire—just how we like it.
Ali and I chat with Mandi, the incredible artist behind Grey Boy Pet Prints, who transforms pet grief into lasting keepsakes using paw prints, ashes, and a pure heart.
We also share the story of Baby, a sweet rescued chocolate lab I placed with Mandi—whose legacy now lives on through her beautiful art. 🐾💛
When a goose goes rogue and a cactus targets an eye, pet parenting gets real. Ali and Betsy share dramatic tales from the dog park and hiking trails, dive into a daring 65-dog desert rescue, and celebrate hummingbirds and hero pups. Plus, Broadway yes or no, air traffic anxiety, and why the Hollywood Bowl is a blessing and a curse.
This week, Ali and Betsy bust doodle myths, spiral about ticks, and share the wild true story of a Bengal tiger who bonded with a Pomeranian. Plus: dog food deep-dives, rescue burnout, and a husky riverwalk fundraiser that might just restore your faith in dog people.
This week, Ali and Betsy compare birthday vibes—Broadway singalongs vs. farmer’s market chill—and take deep dive into dog life, from picky eaters (looking at you, Huck and Stanley) to spay/neuter musts, foster fails, and surprise rescues. Plus: are those doggy dialogue buttons actually real? A raw meat debate, and one very adoptable puppy who needs your help.
This week, Betsy shares her urgent mission to save three rescue dogs, and Ali tells the story of Huck comforting a grieving stranger with a silent hug in an elevator. We dive into the emotional toll of vet visits, painful vaccine reactions, and why we're feeling a little anti-vax—at least when it comes to our dogs. Amid the chaos? Late-night wakeups, big feelings, and two birthday celebrations filled with love, laughter, and maybe a wet vac. 💔🎂🐾
From pitching dog adoptions mid-echo cardio exams to dissecting pee preferences, Ali and Betsy are on fire. Toss in a shady Oura ring and the time Ali’s friendliness may have saved her from Robert Durst—and you’ve got a classic episode of canine chaos and real-life catch-ups.
Ali’s heart pulled a fast one, Huck made his paramedic debut in true Huck style, and Phoebe is rocking the donut cone of shame. Plus: tiger drama, turtle rescues, and the very important case for naming your pup Raspberry Beret.
Betsy and Ali dive into dog drama—raw food debates, car ride chaos, health scares, and how to tell if your pup’s in pain. Plus, there's a bee situation (EpiPens out), a Rottweiler waiting for a home, and a nostalgic trip through ’80s TV, acid-wash jeans, and other questionable fashion choices. Chaos, canines, and an ode to The Greatest American Hero—what more do you need?
Betsy and Ali dive into the highs and lows of rescue work, from navigating heartworm-positive dogs to the chaos of fostering. They swap stories about a Doberman’s incredible health transformation, a shady dog trainer, and—yes—a runaway pup who crashed a jacuzzi party. Plus, they unpack the mystery of doggy insomnia and the strange case of Gene Hackman. A must-listen mix of heartfelt moments, hilarious pet antics, and all-too-relatable frustrations!
Betsy and Ali dive into everything from dog rescue adventures and quirky SSRI-themed pet names—come here, Prozac!—to Lyme disease in dogs and unexpected pop culture throwbacks. With humor and heart, they navigate pet parenting, health updates, and the delightful chaos of everyday life.
Join us this week as Ali and Betsy chat about everything from their dogs’ social lives to the deeper emotional bonds we share with our pets. They discuss pet loss, grief support, and the highs and lows of pet insurance, while Ali shares her inspiring volunteer work at Camp Harmony, a camp supporting children facing housing insecurity.
Join them for laughs, life lessons, and real talk about the joy (and cost) of loving our four-legged companions.

Betsy and Ali dive into dog rescue, unexpected acts of kindness, and the little rituals that keep them going. From transporting rescue pups to self-care treatments to why dogs howl, they reflect on life’s challenges and the joy of giving (and receiving) kindness.
This week, Betsy and Ali dive into LA fires, Phoebe’s tummy troubles, and Betsy’s latest dog rescues (three white labs headed to their forever homes!). On this episode Dear Dog, Ali and Betsy welcome Veterinary Rehab Guru, owner of the world- famous CARE (California Animal Rehab), and Clementine favorite, Dr. Jessica Waldman for a not-to-be missed episode in which we get a better understanding of dog wellness and how we can support our dogs' well-being every day. Dr Waldman gives us practical tips for how dog parents can prevent orthopedic issues, manage them if they occur and just generally tune into our dog's well-being. We talk best options for pet food, discuss the importance of using a harness instead of a collar, and do a deep dive on pet insurance. Plus, what would a Dear Dog Episode be without first, a discussion of doggie DNA tests, and then of course, an Ali ribbing sesh on how much of a crazy dog owner she is. Dr Waldman, although ever the professional, gleefully participates in both! Join us for all this and so much more!
Dear Dog talks to dog rescuer Anastasia Khromova about how she and her family saved Stella the husky from an awful fate: taking this puppy who had Swimmer Puppy Syndrome to a healthy strong dog who can run and play and get into lots of trouble like any good husky can. Who doesn't want to know what their dog is thinking and feeling??? We certainly did, so we invited Animal Communicator Liz Murdoch on to tell us how we can be more in tune with our favorite four legged friends. She tells us about how she works, how you can work with her, and how you can use some of the same tools on your own with your pets to better connect with your dogs . Liz does some impromptu readings of Clementine, Phoebe, and Stanley (our dogs) with amazing and very specific results. You won't want to miss this episode!
Dear Dog welcomes Courtney Wolff to tell her amazing story of rescuing a beautiful blind Sheep-a-doodle puppy named Oscar. By being in the right place at the right time, having a kind heart, and faith that it would all somehow work out, Courtney saved Oscar's life and enhanced her family’s life tremendously; most especially her 2-year old labradoodle Lulah. This story brings to life the saying 'who rescued who?’ You won’t want to miss this special episode!

It comes complete with a poop-bag holder, and her signature dogipack poop-bags…they are #1 at picking up #2!
Megan entertains us with her personal dog history which ranges from finding her beloved dog Bear as a puppy in a garbage can, to her first dog Sheba who she got in elementary school, after her teachers all but demanded her parents get this poor girl a dog, to her current pooches who came from some pretty rough backgrounds.
Megan shares some big news about her political future, and she sends a strong message about why dogs, particularly rescue dogs, are quite simply the best.
Tune to hear all this and more on Dear Dog!
Betsy and Ali explore what kind of dog (breed, age, etc.) would be best to join Ali’s pack one day; i.e, what kind of dog would be well-suited to Ali’s work as a therapist, be a diabetic alert dog, and most importantly be accepted by Clementine which is no small feat. We talk about our uneasiness when dogs don’t get along, Ali reads a heartwarming story about the bond between a newly rescued German Shepherd and her owner, and we get the low down on Betsy’s new exciting ventures, Lovethydog.com and The Dog Yenta. Come on down and check it out!
Dear Dog goes deep with accomplished actor, movie enthusiast, dog lover, and life-long friend of Ali's, Jordan Ladd! Plus we get in a discussion of Betsy's favorite topic: Dog DNA tests. Join us...it doesn't get better than time spent with Jordan Ladd!

He is a young and beautiful yellow lab who although disguised as a goof with a floppy walk and a silly face, is actually a genius with a penchant for finding food, or anything that might be food, no matter how safely it’s placed. Allison tells us about her experience raising a puppy in New York City - poop on the walls included - and we talk about how a dog plays a crucial role in one of her best-selling books. We also find out a little about how the Sundance Film Festival is running this year and discuss the benefit to waste-of-time ratio of doing your dog’s DNA. Join us for a fun discussion!
We at Dear Dog always have a good time talking about our dogs, but pup parentage is not all fun and games. This week Ali's dog Clementine had a seizure and had to be rushed to the ER. This brings up some of the tougher stuff - such as how to cope when your dog is sick, how to ask for and offer help in times of crisis, and how to know if you're with the right vet for you and for your dog. We also talk about the crucial topic of dogs in your bed. Which side do you come down on? Tune in to hear all about these things and more.
Ali & Betsy welcome Comedienne Wendy Liebman and her husband, Writer/Director Jeff Sherman to the show to talk all things dogs; specifically, about their darling but somewhat challenging Jindo mixes named Jemma and Jackson.
