Antoinette describes a gruesome accident she suffered while on the flight deck, which eventually led to her being medically retired with anxiety attacks and post-traumatic stress disorder. She goes on to share her experience medicating with prescription pills, and how her life changed for the better when she turned to meditation and alternative medicines such as cannabis. Antoinette also talks about Gratitude Blossom - more specifically how she hopes to provide affordable, or perhaps even cost-free, CBD products for veterans as well as terminally-ill and low-income residents of San Diego through Gratitude Blossom Collective, the nonprofit branch of the company.
Danny Murr-Sloat is the co-founder of AlpinStash, a Colorado-based craft cannabis cultivation company. In 2003, Danny, then 21 years old, was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome. He joins the show to share his experience with this rare condition - including being prescribed opioids as pain relief medication, which sent him into a vicious spiral of depression and dissociation. Danny goes on to reflect on how his recovery process finally took a turn for the better when he started to use cannabis to self-medicate, as well as how experimenting with gardening and learning to grow and breed cannabis became a motivating force in his life, helping him find purpose again. Lastly, Danny talks about starting AlpinStash, and their commitment to providing clean, high quality cannabis.
For this week’s podcast, we have photojournalist and documentarian Maren Krings all the way from Germany. Maren brings us such a rich and interesting conversation about her dedication to the social and environmental impact of the climate crisis, and her work documenting the worldwide rediscovery of industrial hemp. Dr. Joanna Zeiger is a cannabis epidemiologist, as well as the founder and CEO of Canna Research Foundation, a non-profit organization that studies the effects of cannabis in various patient populations. She is also a former professional triathlete and author of The Champion Mindset. Dr. Zeiger shares how she became a triathlete, and how she began to use cannabis medicinally after she suffered a gruesome bike accident during the 2009 Ironman 70.3 World Championship.
