The Planet Driven Brands Podcast™ launched in April 2021 and is a collection of short stories discussing how sustainability and brands can, and should be compatible.
We are collecting a library of insight and thought leadership on the, sometimes complex, relationships between brands (and businesses) and the sustainability of the Planet. Each podcast has its own journey, and as a collective we have a powerful story to tell for anyone interested in how we can all collaborate in building a more sustainable World.
Together we will learn from experts what has been achieved and what we should be striving for. We are all on a journey and we believe 1 million small steps taken together is worth more than a few large steps taken individually. The Planet Driven brands Podcast will investigate how we can achieve this. For anyone wishing to join the journey, to study it or to build upon it, this is our small contribution, please enjoy.
We all have a responsibility to create a better world for the generations to come. Do brands share this responsibility? Discuss!
We are about changing the world, one brand at a time.
We know brands have positive impacts on consumers and we want to bottle that!
We also highlight brands as drivers for change and the role they play as influencers. This is a library of thought leadership for all to share. It's our small contribution.
Planet Driven Brands™ has a better purpose, a better reason-to-be, that will impact positively on the world in which we live.
Planet Driven Brands Podcast Kees Aarts Kees is a leader. A leader in the world of insects!
He had an idea in the pub many years ago and that has lead to world leading business, @protix Kees and Protix harness the enormous power of insects and the ability to supply 'food in balance with nature' Insects are nature’s most powerful up-cyclers and are therefore a missing link in our food system. They can help create a circular food system and enable us to move from a resource depleting linear system of production
Protix leads the world in this technology and here Kees opens our eyes to the potential. As he says: "We need to reduce our land use and we need to reuse nutrition of all the food waste we generate. So insects, as a technology, to circulate nutrition on a low footprint basis makes sense!" Here, on Planet Driven Brands Podcast Kees Aarts lets us into his world and his clear passion for insects!

If you've not heard of this before then you really should listen. In my opinion it is the most sustainable product I have learned about on this podcast. This technology isn't about using a car battery again after initial 5 year use, its about extending life of these batteries by another 10 years - a real 'WOW' moment for me! It's fascinating not just what Lance and his team have achieved, but, as he points out, the potential to create other '2ndLife' products is incredibly exciting, and then he points out that there may even be a 3rdlife!! This is a terrific example of a truly sustainable product that actually appears to have better credentials, and improves upon, the original. Amazing! As he says: "Interestingly enough, it's actually easier for us to warrant a 2ndLife battery than it is to warrant a brand new battery!" Lance, like all our panellists, is passionate about how we tackle the big issues around brands' responsibilities to the planet and it's a fascinating picture he paints in explaining why 2ndLife is such an important commodity of the future. Planet Driven Brands Podcast Martin Simpson. Martin is a designer by trade but is so much more than that as an expert in the packaging process and brand strategy & activation. Here Martin takes through the moral maze that is our responsibility to be more sustainable and how that plays out in the world of brands. "We all have a duty of care" Martin describes it as an 'amble' but its a far reaching discussion, both technical (on inks) and thought provoking - is there a 'shopping list of righteousness'? Martin firmly believes in brands mission to be 'simple, honest and consistent' and uses this to portray how consumers expect brands to share the duty of care. We cover specific topics such as 'The Planet Moment Of Truth' in packaging and we also chat about Wicked Kitchen and the leadership shown by Derek and Chad Sarno within the world of vegan food. As Martin says: "Customers have changed a little bit and so has the marketplace. No-one expects to suffer through a veggie burger; you expect to love it, and it should be loved, it's a thing of beauty." Martin, like all our panellists, is passionate about how we tackle the big issues around brands' responsibilities to the planet and it's a fascinating picture he paints in his own inimitable style Here, in Planet Driven Brands Podcast Martin Simpson he shares his wisdom and experience with us. Planet Driven Brands Podcast, Paul House on Imagery. In order to get going on podcasting I needed to practice recording and editing and as part of this Paul agreed to join me in conversation. I didn't expect to get anything out of it as we rambled on about all kinds of rubbish, but when I played it back I found these couple of minutes and they are quite interesting! So I'm putting this up for no reason other than Paul has a lot to say on media and communications, but surprisingly he also has a POV on imagery. It's also better for the fact that he ends the conversation by branding people as 'Idiots' - that's the Paul we know best.
