Healthy entrepreneurs, unite! Today on the podcast, we’ve got the story of a solopreneur who’s passionate about showing people how to improve their health—even during their busy work lives.

As a dietician for 23 years, Tammi Brochman has made it her mission to help women entrepreneurs reclaim their physical, emotional, and mental wellness, which allows them to increase their performance and contributions in work and life. And as a mother of four, a wife, and a solo business owner, Tammi truly knows how to manage her time well in her busy day-to-day life, plus exactly what it takes to become healthy successful entrepreneur.

Whether you’re thinking about starting a healthy business, or whether you’re already in a business for yourself, you’ll want to tune in to hear more about the obstacles to practicing good self-care—and how you can prioritize yours. How to Be a Healthy Eating Entrepreneur Pesticides and herbicides and all that that go into our foods, that’s a commonality…I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of people who have some sort of gluten intolerance from foods here in America, but then they go to Italy and they can eat the pasta there. Well, the farming practices in Italy are vastly different than the farming practices in the United States when it comes to wheat products, and the reason being is that it doesn’t contain all of the toxins that the foods here in America contain.

Clean eating has become a buzzword these days—but part of Tammi’s underlying mission is to make sure that its importance doesn’t get lost in the noise.

As Tammi explains, Clean eating can be different for every body. Everyone has different dietary needs, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds, and all of those things fit into the makeup of the food that we eat. When Tammi talks about clean eating, she means taking a look at universal things we consider unnecessary (like toxins), as well as foods that might be allergens or inflammatory for you. Eliminating those things from your diet can help you live a healthier and happier life. And helping people get healthy and happy? That’s Tammi’s passion.

Tammi first started out as a dietician in a hospital fitness center, where she worked to provide community nutrition assistance. Somewhere along the way, her work sparked an idea: there’s a need for dietary assistance in the public, plus an opportunity in the business world. On the podcast, Tammi talks about all the reasons why she eventually left full-time work, went off on her own, and never looked back.

When you hear her speak, you’ll quickly realize that Tammi did something we all strive for: she followed her passion, worked to feel fulfilled, and she can still take care of her family. The road to success wasn’t easy, as Tammi explains, but you’ll still want to tune in for her tips, tricks, and insights as you learn how to be a healthy eating entrepreneur! Listen On to Find Out: How to be a healthy eating entrepreneur Tammi’s tips to help new entrepreneurs prioritize eating healthy Why it can be so hard to keep your self-identity as a mom Why fad and trendy diets don’t work for every body How paying attention to your diet and health can actually change your life

Everyone wants to use their skills and passions to create their ideal lifestyle. (That’s probably why you’re listening to this podcast!) That’s when she started her own digital marketing agency, The Determined Mom. With SEO as its main focus, the business is geared toward mom business owners and CEOs who need help with a myriad of different marketing needs. Plus, Amanda loves empowering and helping others to build a business and be a mom at the same time, employing moms who want to stay at home and work even with kids underfoot.

What does it really mean to have a brand, and how do you make sure that yours stands out in a crowd?

Today on the Stand Out Be You podcast, we’re sitting down with someone who knows the answers to these questions—and much more. Brand visibility expert Kim Speed sits down with your host Tequila to chat about branding, being yourself, and growing a business.

Celebrating her tenth year with her company Purple Moon Creative, Kim works closely with small business owners and entrepreneurs to help them create an exceptional brand that attracts loyal clients. With Kim’s help, these companies become visible to the right audience, figure out what their secret sauce is, and share their unique message in a clear way.

If you’re looking to grow your business and create an exceptional brand, you’ll want to hear Kim’s thoughts on skill sets, branding, and how businesses evolve. Come take a listen! How to Create a Business Brand That Stands Out You want people to think you know what you’re doing if they’re going to hire you. But more and more, I find that people realize you don’t have to know everything. You do have something to offer because you do know more than your clients or your customers. And they want the information that you do know. But you need help, too.

Maybe you’re starting a business, or maybe you’ve had a business for quite some time. Whatever the case, there’s probably a moment where your first impulse is to “stand out.” You want a shiny new logo, a new website, a new everything...but according to Kim, that’s not where your success comes from.

Your business is what you sell, but your brand sells your business. And branding isn’t just about the logo and website—it’s about who you are. It’s about what you stand for, your reputation, how people describe you when you’re not in the room. It’s about how people feel about you, and how you carve out a niche when it comes to your audience. When all of that comes together, great things happen and your business booms.

That’s where Kim comes in. She’s spent the last ten years helping companies become industry experts by turning their brands into valuable assets. And after those ten years, she’s really nailed down what she does. Once she first identified her brand and niche (or once her niche found her, as she explains on the podcast!) she quickly realized that many other business owners need help doing exactly the same thing.

Because at the end of the day, even with other businesses and brands jostling for a share of the market you want, there’s only one you.

Only you have your unique message and story. Only you can explain why people should be attracted to your brand. That’s why it’s so important to understand your brand, and to know who you are...because if you don’t know, how can your clients? Listen On to Find Out:

How to create a business brand that stands out from the crowd Why honing your own skill sets can increase your online visibility Kim’s philosophy on business branding ideas How networking helps you discover who you are The best way to build your “like” and “trust” factors How to know when it’s time to find an online coach Why it’s time to stop pretending you know everything

Do you love helping others become their best selves? Are you passionate about guiding people to success? If this sounds like you, you might be a great fit for a coach...and today’s guest is here to tell you why you should consider it!

Today on Stand Out Be You, we’re here capturing the story of Marc MaWhinney, who’s passionate about helping coaches build successful businesses online. He’s helped thousands of people jump-start their businesses, and his Facebook community boasts over 16,000 active coaches.

Whether you’re a coach who’s just starting a coaching business or looking to grow your existing one, you’ll definitely want to hear his insights! Starting a Coaching Business—the Right Way You have to cut through the noise online...if you’re the type of coach who thinks, “Oh I’ll post on Facebook once a week or even once a day,” and you think it’ll be enough—well, it probably won’t be enough.

What does it really mean to be a coach? At the most basic level, we’re looking for someone with experience, a guide who can help us get our lives in order. But in recent years, the term “coach” has been elevated to almost unreachable levels...to the point that some of us may even envision a wizened guru atop a mountain!

But the truth is that coaching isn’t some magical career or something that only certain people have the ability to do. And according to today’s guest, there are many people who absolutely could be coaches, making a living by guiding people to success. On the podcast, Marc explains how he got his start in the coaching world, and why he firmly believes that coaching is something anyone should try.

Beyond this, Marc shares his secrets on getting clients through the door—without relying too heavily on advertising and social media. (Yes, you heard that right!) According to Marc, it’s most important that your audience comes to know, like, and trust you in a candid and natural way.

When it comes to starting a coaching business, it’s all about creating your own platform, and building a community around your business on your own terms...and this episode will show you how to get there! Listen On to Find Out:

What it really takes to be a coach in the online world of today Why social media isn’t always the most stable foundation for a business Everything you should know before starting your coaching business What a “barbeque pitch” is, and why you need to have one Marc’s best practices for posting frequency on social media

Welcome back to Stand Out Be You! Today, we’re capturing the story of Jen Paterson with Dollar Divas.

After fifteen years spent in the financial world, Jen transitioned to coaching before starting her own business to share sound money strategies—and she’s a true finance guru! Today, Jen’s all about helping women change the way they view their money, especially when it comes to the complicated task of running a business. Her passion is helping women in business (and out of it!) learn to control their money, so it stops controlling them.

If you have any reservations about money, if you’re not sure how to get your income working toward your goals, or if you’re simply not up-to-date on best practices in terms of financial strategies, this episode is for you! Women and Money Strategies We know we should be saving, but nobody knows how to do it. When you say, “You should make dinner,” there’s a lot of easy ways to access what those steps are...You need to choose a recipe. But that doesn’t exist when it comes to money, and that’s what I’m working hard to change.

If you’ve done virtually anything in the world of finance in the last few years, you know how complicated things can be. When we’re young, we’re fed cookie-cutter strategies for saving and spending—but they don’t necessarily work as well with our complicated adult lives.

It’s SO easy to get lost in this arena. And it doesn’t help that banks and financial institutions are for profit, which means they have to make sure that money is always coming through the door—and that they don’t necessarily have your best interests in mind. The industry is built on a sales structure...but that’s not what most of us need!

According to Jen, this lack of sound financial support can feel pretty widespread, and even hardcore savers have trouble making their money do what they want it to. For most of us, our money controls us, instead of the other way around. Throughout her years in the finance industry, Jen’s found that we all have bizarre psychological hang-ups that go along with our money, which makes it hard to ensure that we’re treating our money like a tool.

That’s why Jen has such a strong passion when it comes to women and money. Dollar Divas may have started out primarily as a coaching role, but it snowballed into much more once Jen began learning how women handle money in business. Now, she helps them find smarter strategies to handle their money in more intuitive ways—and her tips are definitely worth a listen! Listen On to Find Out:

Why the financial industry doesn’t always have clients’ best interests in mind Jen’s tips on how to make your money work for you Why people attach such strong emotions to their money habits Why cookie-cutter approaches don’t help most women managing money How to “check in with your money” and why it’s so important

Today’s guest on the Stand Out Be You podcast is here to share her vulnerable heart, opening up to offer her story and her life lessons to all of us.

As a solopreneur, Danielle Kean’s passion is helping Millennials define exactly what they want to do, and how to share that unique passion with others. After overcoming a huge personal loss, Danielle had to learn to trust her own heart again, making her way forward to carve out a fulfilling business just for herself. Here on the podcast, Danielle explains how she first dove into herself in order to better help others in her life.

If you’re trying to figure out how to get rid of limiting beliefs, tune into this episode to hear Danielle’s tips on to believe in yourself first, finding the path to your most authentic self. How to Get Rid of Limiting Beliefs I think that was a really hard lesson for me to learn, that the universe took away something so precious and so beautiful, and now it’s time for me to be that beauty in my own life, and to take ownership of that beauty in my own life.

There’s no good time to lose your mother, but for Danielle, it was a devastating blow to bear. They were close—like “two peas in a pod,” as Danielle explains—and the loss was overwhelming.

Following her mother’s passing, Danielle had to take control of her mother’s affairs, working out for herself how to remain focused and strong in the face of her personal tragedy. And as Danielle explains in the episode, she quickly learned that the universe didn’t owe her anything: starting her own business after her mother’s passing was just as hard as it might have been otherwise.

Still, Danielle worked hard on her own passions, understanding how to get rid of limiting beliefs that held her back from her goal. After a lot of hard work, she began to own her strengths and vision, coming into her own authentic self—and that’s exactly what she strives to do now for her clients.

Today, Danielle works with Millenials to bring them into what she calls You 2.0 helping them thrive by stepping into who they truly are. With a ton of helpful insights and tips from her own experience, as well as things she’s learned by working closely with her clients, Danielle explains how all of us can become our most authentic selves. Listen On to Find Out:

How to get rid of limiting beliefs by embracing your inner child 3 things Millennials can do to advance in life How to recover from the loss of your mom with Danielle’s tips Why we should follow our heart in life, instead of our ego The biggest struggle facing most of Danielle’s clients Why Danielle believes we were designed to go against the status quo

Come Into Your Most Authentic Self Becoming who we were truly meant to be is a journey. On the podcast, Danielle shows us that it doesn’t happen overnight—and it’s easier with help. If you’re looking for a community to share in the struggles and triumphs of your own journey, join us in the Stand Out Be You Facebook group! Are you looking for a way to make changes in your mental, physical, and business life? Well, today’s Stand Out Be You podcast guest might have just what you need.

Megan Nolan is a solopreneur on a mission. Her goal is to help overwhelmed business owners find better ways to relax at work during the day—by showing them how to do yoga at their desk. (Yes, you heard that right!) Tune in for her insights and advice, plus tips on bringing a little yoga into your life.

How to Relax When You Are Stressed I have these gifts, and I need to share them. If I don’t, I’m doing myself and the world a disservice. Because this is my light, and this is the way that I shine. And I really owe it to myself to be able to shine it out in a unique way.

Like many of our solopreneurs, Megan didn’t start her career knowing exactly where it would lead. With a background in gerontology (the study of aging), she eventually decided to tackle the problem of aging from the preventative side. Jumping into a career as a personal trainer, which she supplemented with yoga teacher training, Megan learned to use the principles and practices of yoga in everyday life—and how to help her clients do the same!

But even that wasn’t enough. After moving to Hawaii, Megan decided to funnel her skills, talents, and gifts into her own business, working exclusively for herself. Today, she does yoga for corporations, working closely with office workers who spend most of their time sitting—and who need the most help reversing the negative toll that a sedentary lifestyle has on the body. With different workshops, breathing exercises, and coaching sessions, Megan shares her skills and experience through in-person yoga in Maui. Listen On to Find Out:

We all know that life, in general, can be our biggest and best teacher. Well, today on Stand Out Be You, we’re capturing the story of the amazing Linda Clay, who speaks about starting her own business—in her 60s!

Linda’s own life experiences helped her develop the skills she needs to help business owners. At present, she works to empower women with the confidence they need to map out and chase their own visions. On the podcast, Linda speaks frankly about the hills and valleys that helped her climb to the top of her mountain.

Starting a New Career at 60 We all have that chitty chatty voice that says, “What? What are people gonna think? What?” And you have to learn to control that because it’s just the fear within you that’s coming out, because you’re stretching yourself beyond your comfort zone.

These days, age really doesn’t matter. In the online world, whether you’re 15 or 95, it’s easier than ever to follow your vision and start your own business, wherever (and whenever!) you are in life. The most important thing is deciding what you want, and standing to face the challenge of actually making it happen.

Well, Linda has been more than ready to face that challenge! Like many solopreneurs, Linda first got her start in the corporate world. Jumping from job to job over the years, she supported her family and had a lot of fun doing it—until she was blindsided by the death of her husband.

Linda talks frankly about sitting still for years, grieving and unable to move, before “waking up” with no income, a family to support, and no direction. And that’s when she started a path to where she is today.

After deciding to start over, Linda began working with a “treasure map” strategy, creating a vision for herself and manifesting her goals. And at last, after jumping from corporate jobs to a corporate job, Linda finally found herself starting a new career at 60!

Today, Linda works with women as a virtual assistant and consultant, using her own experiences to help others decide how to live their own lives. Check out the podcast to learn more about her journey, and to hear the wealth of advice she offers to anyone following in her footsteps!

We’re getting a fresh start in 2019 with some tips from Tequila on planning your best year! On this mini-episode, it’s time to dive into goal-setting for the year, with plenty of insights on what works, what doesn’t, and how to create personalized objectives you’ll actually stick to throughout the year.

Your host Tequila shares her thoughts on everything from looking at your year in review to creating New Year’s resolutions that actually work for you. Let’s get started! How to Plan a New Year Ask yourself this one question: am I allowing myself to reach my goals or feel accomplished? You wouldn’t believe how many people unconsciously model or compare themselves to someone else, or simply try to do someone else’s method without taking into consideration their own life.

All of us have our own approach when it comes to planning out the year. Some of us just are excited that the last year ended and grateful for whatever comes in the new year. Some of us are already hustling to get ahead and make things happen for ourselves and our families. Some of us are sharing our goals publicly to hold ourselves accountable, and some of us are guarding our dreams as we make quiet steps forward.

But as you work on your own goals—whatever your approach may be—it’s important to make sure that all those things you’re dreaming of are 100% aligned with who you are as a person. You want to make sure that they fit in with your core values, and that they’ll truly help you become the person you envision yourself being in the future.

To make sure you’re on the right track, Tequila shares her own strategy for setting New Year’s resolutions that really work. Her simple formula allows you to review your own life and personality, rating different areas of your life to make sure your goals are helping you become the best person you can be. And best of all, creating goals that get you in sync across all these areas of your life can help increase your chances of having a fantastic year! Start learning how to plan a new year right, and how to feel accomplished with all you’ve done, by tuning into the podcast. Listen On to Find Out:

The different approaches people take when starting a new year Why you need to couple your goals with your own “why” How to make sure your goals are 100% aligned with your values The 6 most important areas of your life, and how to plan goals with them How to plan a new year while prioritizing your upcoming goals Why it’s so important to tailor your goal strategy to your own lifestyle

Very often, as we raise a family, we end up feeling like we need to compromise on our long-term goals and dreams. We push them back to that elusive “one day.” One day, we’ll change jobs. One day, we’ll travel. One day, we’ll build or buy our dream home. That is what we're going to discuss in today's Stand Out Be You episode.

Today’s podcast guest explains where these “one day” goals can steer you wrong, and how to be a happier family by adapting them to fit your needs! Ashley Logsdon is a family and marriage coach and the founder of Mama Says Namaste. And her passion is helping people shift from a reactionary, chaotic life to a life of intention, taking their mindset from “one day” to “Let’s do it!” Plus, she does it all while traveling the states in an RV with her husband and kids!

On today’s show, you’ll get to hear her insights on how to create a family plan that works for you, plus tips on starting or running your own business while cultivating a happier, healthier family life.

How to RV the United States With Your Family My main focus is on understanding who you are. Because we believe that 85% of the process of finding the work you love, or all of the process of being connected and engaged in your family and your community and your personal life, is really having a good understanding of who you are...The uniqueness in each of us strengthens all of us.

Today, there are one million people, including families and young couples, who roam the United States while living out of their RV. It’s a dream that’s becoming more and more common—and it speaks to the goal of traveling that both Ashley and her husband shared from early on in their relationship.

But it wasn’t until a few years ago that the two of them put a date on their “one day” dream, pulling their family into an RV for a 90-day family road trip trial run. Two years later, after seeing 48 states on the road, it’s clear that the idea was a winner, a beautiful adventure they decided to stick within the long term.

The first steps toward that dream weren’t easy, though! Ashley speaks frankly about the challenges her family faced, as well as the soul-searching they had to do—including creating a family vision! This essential piece of information connects every member of a family to their core values and “one day” goals, helping them understand each other (and themselves!) better, in order to move forward with confidence.

Ashley shares her tips on how to travel the United States with little ones, as well as general lessons for any family reaching for those “one day” goals—so join us to hear it all!

Listen On to Find Out:

How to RV the United States with your family Tips on how to set family goals, no matter how old your children are Why it’s important to know the personality styles of everyone in your family Tips for creating a family-centered home instead of a child-centered one Why allowing your kids to face their own struggles helps in the long-term How to change your “one day” mindset

Recently on Stand Out Be You, we’ve been busy honing our productivity skills! If you’re just joining us, know that this episode is part of a mini-series, where our host Tequila Dodard shares the strategies you need to organize your life and goals. Go back and listen if you haven’t already!

Last time, we discussed the importance of determining how important and urgent the tasks on your to-do list truly are. Today, we’re going even deeper. We’re going to explain how to manage and organize your to-do list, allowing you to be more focused throughout your day. So...get ready to get SMART!

How to Manage Your To-Do List and Free Up More Time Rather than thinking, “I’m going to be more productive today,” think “I’m going to create a to-do list outlining my daily agenda.” Being general doesn’t really help us accomplish anything, it only delays us and prevents us from accomplishing our tasks.

We’ve learned a ton of useful productivity strategies so far, from our time-management matrix to the Pomodoro technique. But today’s episode is all about taking things a step further, by creating to-do list items that really work for you.

On the podcast, Tequila explains some of the pitfalls we commonly run into when creating our daily agendas. We make to-do lists that are general and not specific, for example. Or we fail to use a time-based planner in addition to a list, or we forget to set helpful reminders throughout the day. In order to combat these challenges, and to find a simple method that allows you to build on past strategies, we’re talking about SMART goals!

With SMART to-do lists, you can itemize and categorize your agenda successfully, tailoring your list to your needs. Plus, you can decide how to prioritize your list of tasks according to relevance to your goals. And you can even use SMART goals to make sure you’ll actually be able to finish your to-do list in the time you’ve allowed yourself.

Once you start to apply what you’ve heard in this episode, you’ll finally start learning how to increase your time and better organize your day!

Listen On to Find Out:

How to manage your to-do list and free up time Why SMART goals work, and how to use them thoughtfully Why it’s so important to use a diary in conjunction with your to-do list How setting reminders can enhance your daily agenda What questions you should ask yourself when creating a daily to-do list

If you’re one of many entrepreneurs who just wants help explaining to clients (and others!) your business purpose and your services, this episode is just what you need!

How to Share Your Business Message and Create Raving Fans It’s empathy, really, is what it is—it’s understanding what [your client’s] problem is, understanding what people want, and using their words back. It’s easy in some ways.

Words are powerful, both in life and in business. Explaining your message, and how you can help your potential customers, is crucial to your success as an entrepreneur.

Today, Patty shares her own story, including her struggles identifying and clarifying her personal message for her clients. After all, explaining your own purpose can be deceptively hard!

As Patty says, we can’t necessarily read the label on our own jar: we just are who we are, and as a result, describing what we do can be extremely challenging. Luckily, Patty has plenty of experience creating clear, consistent brand messaging (and avoiding brand message mistakes), and she shares her advice on how to share your business message and create raving fans, no matter your business’s purpose. Today, we’re jumping back into our series on productivity with an episode about something many of us need: clearly defined priorities. This podcast is the third in our mini-series, so if you haven’t already listened to the previous episodes, make sure to start there first!

Now that you’ve got a solid foundation on breaking goals into categories and subcategories, Tequila is here to teach you how to prioritize your daily tasks using a productivity strategy that works: the Time Management Matrix. Grab the categorization list you made in the last episode, and let’s get started!

How to Prioritize Your Daily Tasks What you should always ask yourself is: “Are the tasks I am doing right now impacting other areas of my productivity in a negative way?” Because if they are, you’ll need to make changes...but you’re not going to really know this until you prioritize!

At some point in your life, you’ve probably taken a step back from a cluttered desk (and a cluttered inbox!) and realized that you’re drowning in work.

That’s because as humans, we sometimes feel like we have to solve every problem we come across right away, regardless of how important it is. Every phone call and email and unexpected meeting seems urgent, and we feel compelled to take care of it all immediately.

But this isn’t a healthy way of approaching our work, and it can make us stressed and overwhelmed in our day-to-day life.

Instead, Tequila walks us through a simple but elegant solution: the Time Management Matrix. This easy activity is designed to help us be more productive in life by defining our daily tasks in order of urgency and importance. You’ll categorize these projects and to-dos in a way that fits your lifestyle and your personal goals.

Best of all, once you’ve prioritized your daily tasks, you’ll be able to immediately know whose calls to take now and whose to take later, which meetings and “time waster” tasks to skip, and which items on your list must be completed at all costs! Listen On to Find Out:

How to prioritize your daily tasks with the Time Management Matrix Why time management can actually teach you how to get more done in life How to decide what items are “urgent” or “important” What “quick wins” are, and why they’re great to have on your to-do list Why we should focus on areas we often let slide, like health and family What to do with all of your sudden interruptions and distractions each day Strategies to teach you how to be more productive working from home

Manage Your Time, and Manage Your Life Have you been following along with the steps of this mini-series, trying to learn how to improve your time management, productivity, and more? Join the rest of us in the Stand Out Be You community on Facebook for insights from people on the same journey! But truly, if you take the time to pay attention to yourself, you will discover beautiful, amazing things about you that you’ve never, ever seen. And it’s a beautiful journey if you’re willing to take that on.

As humans, we’re constantly comparing ourselves to our peers. We try to measure our progress, our careers, our relationships, and any aspect of our lives, by where we stand in relation to others in the community.

But this type of thinking can only hold us back. Especially because it has one major side effect: it kills our self-confidence. Often, in comparing ourselves to others, we find that we don’t want to be ourselves; we want to change to be more like someone else.

As a coach, author, speaker, and creator of the Happy.Positive.Successful Formula, Soochen’s core focus is helping people change this way of thinking by reframing their perspectives.

After all, our thoughts are what shape our reality, so it’s only by transforming our thoughts—and our mind!—that we can truly bring our best selves forward.

On this episode, Soochen talks about her own past struggles with comparing herself to her sister, as well as how she dragged herself from rock bottom to focus on restoring her confidence. She also shares her insights on how all of us can reshape how we think about ourselves, using positive actions to build our own confidence.

So, stop comparing yourself to others, and learn to how to tap into your joy with this episode—and become truly unstoppable! So, before we actually jump right in and show you different productivity tools and all that good stuff, we’re going to focus on first and foremost what we call Idea Dumping.

What I want you to do is whether that is to pull out a piece of paper or pen and pencil; or if you want to utilize your iPhone or smartphone, that’s fine too.

But what you want to do is you want to list down all of the tasks or To-Dos. So, your list most likely may seem like a lot and can be overwhelming and that’s why the next steps are important.

So, what I recommend that you do is pause this video, jot down all of your tasks and your To-Do’s. You might be thinking, well, should this be my personal stuff if I’m focused on productivity of my business or my career?

Yes, you definitely want to list down all of your tasks – your personal, your career, and your business and even your fun time. Because what you're trying to do is you're trying to get an overarching view of all of your tasks ...

Today’s guest on the Stand Out Be You podcast is in the profession of making a difference. Divya Parekh is a coach and consultant who is passionate about helping others define their genius and monetize their message. She also currently runs online writing challenges to help clients write books to build their authority and foster trust with their customers.

From the academic to the corporate world, and from entrepreneurship to coaching, Divya has seen it all—and her message on today’s podcast will help you learn to take your career and your professional goals one step further.

How to Monetize Your Message When you have a why that’s bigger than who you are, then the how just happens. You don’t have to worry about what’s going to happen, it keeps on pushing you through the obstacles. Whenever you’re ready to give up, your why pulls you out. It makes you get up and go. No matter where you are in your career, from entry level to solopreneur to CEO, everyone is connected by a shared desire to be happy, to have freedom, and to have more time. At a fundamental level, all of our dreams are basically the same.

But to Divya, each person brings their own extraordinary essence that sets themselves, and their dreams, apart from others. And Divya strives to make an impact by helping people take that genius, everything that makes you extraordinarily you, and bring it forward.

That’s not always as easy as it sounds! As Divya explains, it often involves coaxing clients out of their comfort zones, and helping them lean into discomfort. Plus, once a client has finally defined their genius, it’s important to share that message with the world, getting it onto a marketing platform that works.

And what’s the tool Divya encourages clients to use when sharing their message? Books!

Most of us get anxious thinking about writing one, about committing our thoughts to paper—and that fear is often what holds us back from sharing ourselves and our message. But when you write a book, you find yourself sharing profound personal truths, and cultivating a meaningful relationship with your audience. Divya helps her clients use their books to learn how to build authority and trust—and you can learn to do the same! Listen On to Find Out:

How to monetize your message with personalized strategies Why it’s so crucial to find a coach who’s done what you want to do Divya’s top three tips for moving from the corporate to the online world How to increase your online presence by bringing out your genius How to build an audience as an entrepreneur with a captivating message

Start Telling Your Own Story It really is true: everyone’s got a book inside them!

If you’ve always wanted to write but didn’t know how to write a book—or even where to start—we’re here to help! Go to be sure to join the book challenge for help getting your story from your head, to paper, and finally understanding the benefits of writing your book!

Plus, don’t forget to join us in the Faces of Collaboration community on Facebook! Divya will be posting the same writing challenge we’ve discussed on the podcast, so follow along to get started sharing and monetizing your message today.

Making an impact on the lives of others can be hard. Even when we have the best of intentions, formulating a plan and actually following through on it can be an overwhelming struggle.

It’s even rarer for us to hear about people who are making an impact across different continents—but that’s exactly what our guest on today’s podcast is doing!

Originally from Zimbabwe, Thembi has made it her mission to help women around the world take control of their lives, creating their own financial freedom. Today, she runs her own online business to help women learn to invest in real estate and to create their own success. How To Teach Anyone, from Anywhere in the World Action trumps perfection. Just do it. Just don’t wait. If you look at my website, I built my first website on my own...I thought I needed a website and I thought I had to build it myself, I didn’t know I needed to hire someone to do it. But sometimes you just have to do it. Just do it.

A lot of us move to entrepreneurship from the corporate world. For Thembi, when she first got her start, she initially struggled to transition her skills from her job as a registered nurse. She had her passion to help women (and plenty of it!), but she found that she had to work hard and adapt well to change, to direct this passion into her online business.

Thembi’s honesty about her struggles, and the steps she took to get herself on track are helpful for any listener. Plus, Thembi’s drive to teach women around the world is truly inspiring.

On this episode, learn more about the schedule Thembi developed for herself, the importance of building time for family, and what she would have done differently if she could start over. Thembi’s story is a rich resource—and an empowering listen! Listen On to Find Out:

How to start an online business (and more importantly, how to avoid mistakes in business) Why it’s can be so hard to transition your skills from the corporate to the online world How to teach anyone, from anywhere in the world Three tips for developing a structured day that works for your business and life How to balance motherhood, an online business, and life in general How to give and help others around the world, no matter where you are

Follow Your Passion—and Just Do It! Thembi’s parting advice for us today is to follow our passion in life, without letting that drive and excitement fade. If you’re feeling inspired to collaborate with others and grow your passion, hear tips and tricks from people in your shoes, or learn more from Thembi and other podcast guests, you can get started by joining us in Faces of Collaboration, our Stand Out Be You Facebook community. There, you’ll have access to live webinars, calls, and much more, to help you succeed in business and in life! Resources Thembi has a lot of goals in the works for the next few months! Toye offers her own insights into running a business as a mom, which isn’t always easy!

After going through her own personal crisis, today’s guest turned her true passion into a business that helps women escape unhealthy relationships and transform their lives.

On this episode of the Stand Out Be You Podcast, your host Tequila Dodard is joined by Stephanie McPhail, a health teacher and transformational coach at Mind and Body Awakenings. Stephanie helps women learn how to manage toxic relationships, reaching for a more balanced lifestyle and becoming resilient in the face of life’s challenges.

No matter your story, Stephanie’s insights are a powerful resource to help you start living your best life, focusing on self-care and finding purpose exactly where you are. How to Manage Toxic Relationships and Break the Cycle For way too long, I was looking for my knight in shining armor to complete me or come save the day, and the reality is that you are the savior in your own story. You don’t need to wait for somebody else to come and scoop you up; that’s what you get to do. And once you start to realize the power that you have, you’re gonna be unstoppable. At one point in her life, Stephanie was struggling with a toxic relationship of her own. Speaking candidly about her own experience, she explains the trap she fell into, a common one among women in unhealthy relationships.

As a wife with a family, a career, and a mortgage, all things she felt she was “supposed to do,” Stephanie was a confident and independent woman—but she felt too ashamed to talk about the abuse she faced at home. Many women, she explains, feel too trapped and guilty to admit the truth about their relationship, and they don’t always recognize the patterns of behavior that they’re stuck in.

This is where Stephanie’s coaching comes in. With a keen understanding of what women in unhealthy relationships are going through, Stephanie is in an ideal position to teach how to manage toxic relationships and step into a life with greater joy and purpose.

Listen On to Find Out:

How Stephanie draws on her business background to offer women support they need Stephanie’s strategy for helping women in unhealthy relationships who need encouragement Why Stephanie believes every woman should seek therapy at some point in life Why you should consider self-care a priority, not something “selfish” The toughest challenges Stephanie faced when beginning her journey Warning signs of a toxic relationship How to walk away from toxic people in your life

Step into a Life of Greater Joy and Purpose As you move through life, we hope you’re on a journey to love yourself more every day. Stephanie’s insights are powerful for women in any situation, so if you’d like to start moving toward your best life, you’re in the right place.

We’re thrilled to have Kendra Woods joining your host Tequila Dodard on this episode of the Stand Out Be You Podcast!

Drawing from her years of corporate workplace experience, Kendra decided to start her own business and live life on her own terms. Today, she works as a mindset and business coach for women entrepreneurs, helping them get out of their own minds and step into their divine purpose, power, and prosperity.

No matter where you are in your career, you’ve got an array of learned skills that you can put to use in following your passion. But if you’re like most, you might not know how to make the shift. Alongside Kendra’s powerful insights and lessons learned in this episode, you’ll hear tips on how to reclaim your life, build a strategy, and take action to live a life of purpose—whatever that looks like for you! We get to choose how we show up in our lives, in our businesses, in our relationships. So make the choice to simply believe in yourself. That’s all you have to do. Don’t question it, don’t analyze it, just believe in you. Get Unstuck and Reclaim Your Life Kendra explains that, as with anything, the first step toward finding your purpose is understanding the problem. Getting to the root of the problem is crucial for actually overcoming any mindset block or challenge. Kendra has worked with a range of clients, especially women with corporate backgrounds who are feeling stuck and don’t know where to turn. These women approach her knowing that something in their lives needs to change, but they aren’t sure what it is or how to go about making the shift.

Instead of diving headfirst into band-aid solutions and quick strategies, Kendra encourages women to dig deep when considering how to reclaim their lives, looking into past experiences, relationships, and emotions to understand why they’re feeling stuck. Sometimes, this even requires people to consider the attitudes and beliefs they’ve held throughout their lives.

From here, it’s a matter of figuring out what steps you can take to find your purpose and make a meaningful change in your life. Everyone’s different, so the strategies depend on the person and the situation. On today’s episode of the Stand Out Be You Podcast, your host Tequila Dodard is joined by real estate content writer and content marketing coach Sarah Layton, who helps real estate agents attract their ideal clients through the power of content.

Jumping off of her strong background in real estate—from working as an assistant to navigating real estate law—Sarah studied copywriting techniques to launch her own business as an entrepreneur, a process she discusses openly on the podcast. Today, Sarah helps her clients organize their content, define their target audience, and get out of overwhelm, all by increasing her real estate agents’ sales through the power of compelling content.

Whether you’re in the real estate game or considering entrepreneurship of a different kind, Sarah’s advice and experience will give you the direction you need! Using Content to Increase Real Estate Agents’ Sales You need to define whether or not you want to create a life of legend, meaning it’s all about you and your name, or legacy, one in which maybe people thirty years from now, five generations from now, have no idea what your name is, but the actions that they’re doing originate from things that you did in your life. Real estate is a tough job these days. As Sarah explains, the industry landscape is constantly changing, making it very overwhelming for newcomers and veterans alike. When considering how to be a real estate agent today, people don’t always know what they’re getting into, or what they need to know. From creating real estate agent websites that actually attract clients, to defining a specific real estate agent’s target market, this career path takes definite know-how—which can be the unfortunate downfall of these struggling entrepreneurs.

For Sarah, whose career paths have always been centered on helping others, putting her background and experience to good use by helping struggling agents seemed like a no-brainer. On the podcast, Sarah discusses her strategies for organizing her clients’ content around a defined target audience, as well as her tips and tricks from years in the real estate game. In addition to her thoughts on increasing real estate agents’ sales, she also offers savvy insights into starting your own business in any industry, from defining your passion to centering your self-awareness.

Listen On to Find Out:

Sarah’s previous careers and how her background shaped her current path How real estate agents can grow their business online through the power of content Why so many new and even veteran real estate agents struggle with the job Sarah’s strategies for defining and reverse-engineering clients’ target audiences Sarah’s advice for anyone considering a career change

Grow in Self-Awareness and Be True to Yourself Whether you’re in the real estate business or launching a business of your own, Sarah’s advice is a great fit for anyone trying to Stand Out and Be You!

Here to discuss writing, life, and consistency, Jasmine Duff joins your host Tequila Dodard on this episode of the Stand Out Be You Podcast. A faith-based blogger from Birmingham, Jasmine is ready to share her insights with the honesty and transparency every writer needs.

Whether you want to learn to get confident in Christ, to get out of overwhelm, or just to get what you want in life, this episode’s guest has plenty of insights to share for women to live their lives with confidence!

Jasmine’s story and advice will offer powerful tips on how to keep faith, all while covering business basics like why you should start a blog to tell your story and how to be consistent in life. You won’t want to miss a word! How to Keep Faith and Stay Consistent in Today’s World When I think about success, one word comes to mind: consistency. Consistency is more important than perfection. It’s through consistency that we’re able to succeed at anything we put our minds to. For Jasmine, she didn’t set out to become a blogger when she was young. Instead, this new dream job came from a pretty rough place—being between jobs, struggling with depression, and trying to find her passion.

In the end, Jasmine speaks frankly about taking her leap of faith into writing as a profession. But this simple leap has taught her valuable lessons in consistency, staying true to her dreams, and reaching out to her community both for help and to help in return.

There are no one-stop, speedy solutions promised: when you read the personal stories on Jasmine’s blog or hear her speak candidly, you’ll quickly learn that her constant strategy is to talk through issues she (and all of us!) face from day to day. But as Jasmine notes in the podcast, two of a blogger’s greatest strengths are honesty and transparency—both of which we often truly need in our lives.

After all, it’s only when you find the strength to be honest with yourself that you can find your passion, take care of you and yours, and build—as Jasmine calls it—your own personal “queendom.”

If you’re a long-time listener of our podcast, you’re already aware that our guests have truly mastered the art of storytelling. No matter their business or history, they have a knack for making their dreams and ideas relatable, reaching out on an emotional level to connect with everyone listening.

Storytelling is a useful skill, and now more than ever, it’s an important one to have in both life and business. But how do you tell a good story, especially when it’s about what most matters to you? On this episode of the podcast, Tequila shares her own insights into the storytelling process, as well as reasons why it’s a talent you should definitely consider cultivating! Mastering the Art of Storytelling The human mind simply loves stories. Stories make us all relatable. We see ourselves in certain aspects of a story’s characters: we can identify and empathize with them. Storytelling is fundamental to who we are as human beings. The narrative of a story helps us to better understand ourselves, or at least how we see ourselves, and they can also help us understand where we imagine ourselves in the future. Because stories are so integral to our lives, everyone tells and responds to them in one way or another.

In this episode of the Stand Out Be You Podcast, Tequila Dodard explains that whether you’re talking to your friend in a cafe or explaining the goals of your business, we all have a deep desire to connect to each other on an emotional level—and that’s where we begin to see the importance of a good story! In business especially, storytelling is often overlooked, but Tequila’s insights will show why stories are critical for helping your audience peek behind the curtain and relate to what drives you.

Listen On to Find Out:

The history of storytelling, and why we connect with stories so strongly Why a good story can deepen bonds and create a sense of belonging How to tell better stories that truly inspire and motivate How sparking emotion through stories can enhance difficult or dry topics The effect stories have on us in our everyday lives Why it’s so essential for businesses to generate great story ideas

We’d Love to Hear Your Story Storytelling is a powerful communication technique, but learning the art of storytelling can take some effort. If you’re up for the challenge, join us on Facebook and start sharing your story in a community of like-minded individuals! If you’re like most, there are probably a few articles of clothing in your closet that you’re not too fond of.

Maybe you’re skipping over clothes that no longer fit and pulling out something you used to like. Maybe you’ve wondered how to clean out your closet and swap with others, but you don’t want to lug a few bags to a thrift store. Maybe you’ve even considered a personal stylist.

Well, today’s guest in the Stand Out Be You Podcast has a solution for that—and it’s not a secondhand store!

Stefanie Johnson, founder and CEO of SwapIt, joins your host Tequila Dodard to discuss her unique approach to creating the perfect wardrobe, giving back to the community, and empowering women to feel their best.

From the privacy of your own home, the SwapIt team helps you trade your unwanted clothes for secondhand outfits in their growing inventory, offers styling tips and advice, and leaves you with a style strategy you can use to feel good in your own skin (and clothes)! Clean Your Closet and Help the Environment We take that feeling of inadequacy, jealousy, of nervousness, of whatever you were feeling looking at those other families, and we swap it, right? We swap it for a feeling of amazingness, of self-worth, of no more self-doubt in there. That’s really what we do. Stefanie Johnson comes from a long line of entrepreneurs and business owners, but she first got the idea for SwapIt after struggling to feel good about her own wardrobe. In search of outfits that fit well and matched her vision of herself, Stefanie scoured thrift stores and even paid for a professional stylist.

At the same time, she was learning more about the fashion industry’s effects on the environment: the average American throws out 81 pounds of clothes per year, for example, amounting to 26 billion pounds of textiles tossed into landfills.

Knowing her solution had to address this growing environmental issue as well, Stefanie started SwapIt. With passion and insight, SwapIt aims to teach you how to clean out your own closet and swap with others, with a goal of helping you feel ready to take on the world in new-to-you clothes that match your own personal style.

Listen On to Find Out:

The people who inspired Stefanie to take this style journey and start her own business Why just adding new pieces to your existing wardrobe can make issues worse How a wardrobe makeover can change both your outlook on life and how others see you SwapIt’s process for helping you organize your closet and new outfits How a personal style session can take the stress out of your morning routine How you can clean your closet and feel better about yourself, all at once!

Look and Feel More Like Yourself The clothes we choose to wear send a message to the world, whether we know it or not. At Stand Out Be You, we’re on a journey to truly be ourselves, one step at a time—and that includes feeling confident in our own clothes!

If you have any questions, insights, or advice about this (or any) episode, we’d love to hear from you. Reach out to us on tequiladodard.com to leave us a message! Resources For more information on how to clean out your closet and swap with others, reach out to Stefanie and SwapIt via her website:

C. Lynn Williams has made it her mission to walk parents through the challenges and joys of raising children to help maintain a positive family dynamic. Not only is she a married woman with children who runs her own business, but she is also a teacher, speaker, and transformational author.

But things weren’t always this way! C. Lynn speaks openly about the journey to reach her current position, the struggles she faced, and her advice for working women and home management. How to Balance Being a Mom, Wife, and Businesswoman I say give to somebody either your time, buy books, share your story like you’re saying. Because you won’t be around forever, and you never know what part of you will be remembered. We give everything to our families. Day in and day out, we work to keep everything running smoothly—and this can be hard! There’s a certain mindset we sometimes fall prey to, one that says that parenting should come to us naturally. But this idea can sometimes make us feel hesitant or even ashamed to reach out for the advice or help we need.

At the same time, our children are waiting for us to be open, to share our stories, and to communicate. As C. Lynn notes, it’s crucial for parents to foster an authentic relationship, giving and getting support in order to build the parenting strategies that really work for your family’s dynamic.

With several books under her belt—discussing how to raise teenagers and tweens, how to cultivate great mother-son and mother-daughter relationships, and how to blend families—C. Lynn has the fresh perspective you need to learn how to balance being a mom, wife, and businesswoman.

Known as the “Brick Wall Coach” for her uncanny ability to help her clients overcome their biggest challenges, today’s guest in the Stand Out Be You Podcast has a knack for fostering positive potential. Pamela Lewerenz joins your host Tequila Dodard to share her tips and advice for small business owners. Set Goals, Hire a Business Coach, and Find Your Success You just have to bring that focus back to who you are and why you started this, what it is that you really want. And once that kicked in with me, it was very good. When it comes to small businesses, going it alone can be incredibly hard. According to Business Insider, 20% of small business fail after just one year alone, and by the second year, that number jumps to 34%. So how can you make sure that your business really stands the test of time?

Drawing from the experience of others is a good way to start. Every day, Pamela shares her insights and learnings with clients who’ve decided to hire a business coach, allowing them to take advantage of her years of experience with the most common pitfalls and hurdles of a blossoming business.

She knows that running your own business isn’t easy by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, as Pamela explains on the podcast, she herself often felt discouraged in the beginning. Small businesses face unique complications, and very often, she notes, even if you understand one aspect of the business, there are others just outside of your grasp.

This lack of focus can make it difficult to hone in on what really matters, unless you have someone on hand who can give you a touch of clarity.

From solopreneurs (or startup workers just opening the door) to tenured business owners, Pamela’s advice will be a welcome help! Join us on the podcast to hear about her ideas for goal setting, time management, mindset, and Pamela’s top recommendation: vision boards.

As an experienced entrepreneur and a single mom of four, her advice and insights are perfect for working individuals who feel like they’re busy all the time and the needle still isn’t moving.

Everyone has struggles in life, but Heather has a refreshing intolerance for anyone who says that this means they can’t live the life they want. After a huge personal transformation that ended in divorce, Heather had to admit to herself that her life wasn’t what she once planned.

Learning how to live after divorce—and, even harder, how to recover from divorce emotionally—became a major source of stress for her. But as she explains in the podcast, the experience of being vulnerable and afraid at this time in her life gave her the kick she needed to organize her life and goals the way she’d always dreamed.

Working through the noise to find that kind of clarity isn’t simple, and it’s easy to feel scattered and disorganized. Heather’s tips, drawn from her own experience, might just help you identify what you want, and create a system to help you learn how to focus and achieve your goals.

You know you’re supposed to listen to your gut...but how often do you actually do it? And what does it even mean to “listen to your body?”

On today’s episode of the Stand Out Be You Podcast, Holly Wade joins your host Tequila Dodard to help us understand why hearing what your body says is so important, and how to get started. As a fitness and wellness professional with nearly 25 years of experience, Holly’s motivation in life is to help women who feel exhausted and disconnected tap into their own wisdom and change their perspective on life. Ancient Wisdom to Heal Your Soul So bliss, to me...I mean, the definition is just this perfect peace. It’s a spiritual term. It’s being in full harmony. And when we can connect our body’s wisdom, we can tap into our soul’s truth. And when we can do that, we can understand what our life’s purpose is. And when those three things are in alignment, your body is at ease. Life is just kind of in a flow. We live in a busy time. There’s not a second to slow down and take a break, and there’s no such thing as moving at an unhurried pace. We ignore our intuition, the subtle messages our body sends us, in favor of tackling the next problem in our lives.

But things haven’t always been this way. Holly explains how taking the time to understand your body’s reactions is an ancient, traditional wisdom passed down through generations. After all, from the moment we arrive in this world, our body is our home—and it’s the most important thing we’ll ever need to understand.

In this episode of the podcast, Holly recounts her own journey toward understanding her body’s signals, and the way she encourages and motivates others to slow down and do the same.

Listen On to Find Out:

What inspired Holly to make an impact in this way How she got her start as a coach and motivator What happens when we make a habit of suppressing our emotions Holly’s vision for the future of her coaching endeavors Why it can be so crucial for women to have a dedicated tribe of allies to rely on Why it’s so important to listen to your gut and heal your soul in today’s world

When it comes to success, most of us actually have a good understanding of what to do in order to reach our goals.

Maybe it’s exercising more and eating right to lose that weight, or setting aside time to connect with others to improve our relationships, or transitioning our skills in order to reach that dream job. So if you’re already aware of the steps you need to take, what’s holding you back?

In this episode of the Stand Out Be You Podcast, your host Tequila Dodard explains why it’s not enough just to know how to reach success: the real obstacle is a lack of mastery over yourself.

Building on the previous mini-life lesson’s discussion of chasing your dreams, this episode offers a set of five self-mastery exercises you can put into practice right away. And listening is a must for anyone stuck wondering what’s truly standing in the way of their success. Master Your Mind, Master Your Destiny The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours—it is an amazing journey—and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins. -Bob Moawad One of the most difficult challenges to overcome in life is self-mastery, meaning our ability to control our own actions, emotions, and (maybe most importantly) our impulses.

In this episode, Tequila explains how these impulses can sometimes get the better of us: we live in the short-term, eating potato chips for the quick reward when we’d meant to eat a healthy snack instead.

But managing ourselves and our behaviors is possible, it’s just a matter of reframing our perspective and using a few helpful strategies. Working from the five self-mastery exercises discussed in this episode, it’s possible to avoid those short-term pleasures to key in on the long-term impact of our behaviors, reaching toward the goals we’ve been reaching for. Listen On to Find Out:

Why self-mastery can be an obstacle to success Why finally achieving self-mastery can be so rewarding! 5 self-mastery exercises to help you focus on the long-term reward rather than quick impulses How to develop self-concept in a healthy way How to rid yourself of the self-defeating thought patterns that keep you from being your best self

Life is challenging enough without being constantly reminded of every negative aspect of our situations. But for some of us, this is exactly what we do—to ourselves.

Previous episodes of the Stand Out Be You Podcast have made mention of the power of self-talk. But on this episode, your host Tequila Dodard delves into just why negative self-talk can be so damaging, and how to change up your self-talk for good. The Dangers of Negative Self-Talk  It’s interesting, but some of us may not not even realize how negative thinking may be dominating our lives. This may be something that you deal with daily, and you’ve come to see that it’s normal. However, it’s only normal if you allow it to be that way. A scary thing happens when we continuously talk ourselves out of being excited or hopeful: we begin to accept the idea that we don’t deserve rewards and goodness in life. But this just isn’t true.

This kind of thinking can wreak havoc on our self-perception, and over time, it insidiously affects every aspect of our lives. Maybe our own thoughts and words can’t actually change reality, but they can change the way we perceive reality, which often feels like the same thing. How to Get Rid of Negative Thoughts  Changing up your inner monologue to emphasize positive thinking is the best way to combat negative thoughts.

As Tequila explains in this episode, positive self-talk is a skill to be formed, and it won’t come to you immediately. But with the strategies listed on this podcast, as well as frequent practice on your end, it’s possible to learn how to clear your mind of negative thoughts.

Positive thinking might not turn your life into unicorns and rainbows. But what it will do is give you the strategies and tools you need to meet the challenges you face on a daily basis!

Listen On to Find Out:

How positive self-talk can help you reframe the way you view your world Why it’s helpful to think of positive self-talk as a skill to be practiced The importance of pairing positive self-talk with affirmations How affirmations affect conscious and subconscious thoughts Examples of positive-self talk to get you started

More than most, today’s guest on the Stand Out Be You Podcast knows how messy motherhood can be. As a wellness fertility healer and guide, Emma Burton’s passion is helping women figure out how to connect with their soul baby—so she’s seen it all!

From sleepless nights to messy and challenging days, Emma has tips for surviving and thriving in one of the most beautiful periods of a woman’s life: motherhood. A Fresh Perspective for Parents Having Trouble Having a Baby We spend most of our lives trying not to get pregnant, and often we leave it later. But I don’t believe there’s anything wrong with leaving it later, we just have a bit more life gone past. So we need to heal some things, often there’s been trauma stored in the womb, there’s been relationships with your parents, past relationships with your other half, all of these things. And as women, we can really store that in our bodies. There’s a lot of fear and doubt surrounding the process of giving birth and raising children. From wondering how to prepare for fertility treatments to struggling with fears about giving birth, there can be a lot of unknowns to deal with.

As Emma notes on the podcast, the goal of her work is essentially to make sure all bases are covered before a couple even gets pregnant. In many ways, stress can really hurt you, negatively affecting a pregnancy or potential pregnancy.

For this reason, it’s important to iron out any subconscious fears, whether these are related to the womb, to fears of co-parenting, or anything else.

Emma also challenges us to look beyond the media’s images of parenthood. For example, we’re made to feel old before we actually are, she notes, and there are always advertisements pushing products and services that put fear into us, leaving us in a place of self-doubt.

With Emma’s insights and advice, you can allow yourself to move past these ideas, changing your mindset around your relationship with the baby and your partner to unlock your pure potentiality.

Listen On to Find Out:

Emma’s experience with her own pregnancy and how it affected her perspectives on life Where Emma’s background lies, and how she decided on fertility coach training How to deal with the stress of not getting pregnant How to get pregnant by connecting with your soul baby Tips for overcoming stress and negative emotion when having trouble having a baby The ways your past life might be affecting your pregnancy efforts The connection between yoga and pregnancy coaching

A Community of Support for Parents When you’re having trouble having a baby, the world can seem like a more uncertain and scary place. Every source has a different take on what products or services you need to secure your ideal pregnancy. With Emma’s help, we hope you can find some clarity about what this period in your life means for you.

In this edition of Stand Out Be You Podcast, your host Tequila Dodard is joined by Margot Sandy, product development engineer and co-creator of the 828 Movement.

Margot left her corporate position to start her own business, following her passions to help others through this unique fundraising campaign. The 828 Movement is geared toward helping children succeed, improving overall education for schools, and supporting teachers throughout the US, all while remembering the complicated history of education inequality.

Listen for Margot’s insightful opinions and lessons learned during this campaign, from inception to present! Unfortunately, there are so many schools in need, and very often education is not a topic that’s talked about. And I want these kids to know that, hey—your voice is heard. Helping Children Succeed Through Product-Based Fundraising We’ve all heard about how socioeconomic status and race play a huge role in education for schools nationwide.

Just recently, an article by the New York Times found that in public schools in the US, districts with the most students of color still get on average 15% less funding than those in the whitest districts—and of course, students from low-income families usually face many different kinds of challenges throughout their academic careers.

With this atmosphere in mind, closing the gap and giving back in terms of education inequality has been close to Margot’s heart for some time. In this episode, she discusses her personal reasons for creating this new project to help children succeed in school.

As a product engineer, Margot was in a great place to design the stylish 828 bracelet to help fundraise for this cause. This bracelet has a thoughtful and symbolic design, created to help honor past generations and the steps they made toward education equality, and to show hope for the future. Of course, like any great project, getting the 828 Movement off the ground led to several challenges!

Margot discusses some of these hurdles the movement has faced in its early development, as well as her future goals in fundraising for schools.

Listen on to find out:

What inspired Margot Sandy to work toward helping students succeed? Where did the idea for the 828 Bracelets first come from? What causes of education inequality do the movement’s creators hope to address? What is the historical significance behind the name “828 Movement?” What are the plans for the future of the 828 Movement? How has the 828 Movement already made an impact by helping schools?

If you have little or no experience in the internet or entrepreneurial world—but are looking for some good tips—Margot’s insights are great to have. Whether your work is in education, fundraising, or another area entirely, this inspiring story will make you want to share your talents with the world. Join the cause! Tell your story and inspire others like you! Share your thoughts, opinions, insights, and lessons from entrepreneurship, business, and life. Go to TequilaDodard.com to connect with us and learn more. Resources If you want to help support education for schools through this fundraising effort, pre-order your 828 bracelet today to be a part of the first school donations! For each purchase, 15% of the proceeds go directly to underfunded urban area schools throughout the US who need support.

Following part one of our two-part series, the Stand Out Be You Podcast continues discussing relationships and love with Rockie Lee.

As an expert in marriage counseling, couples therapy, and coaching, Rockie follows his first insight-packed segment with additional advice and knowledge on how to get married.

Listen to this episode to learn why there’s real hope for genuine love in your life—no matter what your story is! Rediscover the Joys of Your Relationship  Ninety percent of marriages out there do not have a long-term vision of what their marriage looks like...I’m talking about what kinds of attitudes and behaviors do we want to not accept or accept in our marriage, that’s a vision. In the midst of conflict, how are we going to handle that? How do I see my wife right now versus in the midst of conflict? These visions are what keep us on track when things look really cloudy. If you’re a romantic at heart, you’ll probably scoff at the idea of sitting down to plan out the nuances of your marriage, or at the idea of putting a system of rules into place to guide your relationship with your partner. But that’s Rockie’s fundamental advice when explaining how to get married!

To break up the patterns and behaviors of conflict, Rockie explains, it’s important that we learn to reframe the situation, falling back on a set of practical rules for guidance. In this episode, we’ll discuss what these systems can look like and how they can work in your relationship.

Listen On to Find Out:

Why it helps to think of your marriage like a business A small taste of the systems we should put in place in our relationships Reframing the way we handle conflicts in our marriage The importance of being open and clear when you feel like you’re falling out of love How to get married and still stand out and be you Why it’s misleading to picture love as a final destination to be reached How to communicate with your partner effectively and how to ask for the love you need How to get married and how to stay married

Connect With Us as You Cultivate Your Relationship  Here on the Stand Out Be You podcast, we love hearing from listeners who are trying to put the learnings we discuss into action.

In part one of our two-part series, veteran marriage counselor and relationship development coach Rockie Lee joins us on the Stand Out Be You Podcast.

With years of experience working with singles, couples, and divorcees, along with his own background in love and marriage, Rockie has earned a wealth of knowledge when it comes to relationships. No matter where you stand in your relationship— whether you're wondering how love your spouse again, how to get married or how to stay married—Rockie provides insights to guide us all toward hopeful, lasting connections with those we love. How to Love Your Spouse, Get Married and Find Clarity We’ve kind of been tricked very subtly by media that love looks a certain way...What do we get when we see movies? We get the happy ending. What we don’t get in movies and TV shows is what happens after the happy ending. That’s the real stuff! So anything before that is kind of the fairy tale. And so what happens is, our judgement gets clouded when we approach love and dating and relationships because we think the whole journey in love is just that first part and it’s not. That’s just the start of the journey. The statistics aren’t great: the American Psychological Association reports that 40 to 50 percent of all marriages in the US end in divorce—and this rate is even higher for any following marriages!

In a world where relationship struggles are practically the norm, how are we supposed to find clarity in our lives and relationships?

In this episode, Rockie provides hope for any listeners wrestling with this problem. During his years spent counseling people in pastoral ministry, Rockie saw his fair share of marriages fall apart. In addition, he speaks candidly about his own relationship experiences and how his early understanding of love and marriage has changed over time.

Listen On to Find Out:

How Rockie got his start in the field of relationship and marriage counseling How the “happy endings” we see in media can wreak havoc on our self-perception and expectations How to define true compatibility in a relationship Why we should reconsider the difference between wants and needs in our relationships Why values, not commonalities, are a good way to understand your relationship How to communicate with your partner effectively and how to ask for the love you need How to get married—the right way!

Connect With Stand Out Be You No matter where you are in your story, solid relationships can play such a major role in our lives.
