Understanding Rest/Run Cycles
Episode 141: Show Notes
For a variety of reasons, real estate often ranks in the top 10 most stressful jobs. Taking breaks and getting enough rest are thus an essential part of life in this industry. Today, we explain exactly why that is and how to go about balancing your rest/run cycle. We talk about the power of pause, why a day of rest is the most important day on any schedule, and how taking a break can be the best way to gain clarity and perspective. You’ll learn how often you should take time off, why you need to plan for rest (and stick to the plan), how the “big rock” concept applies to real estate, and the importance of matching your breaks to your lifestyle. Everyone’s rest/run cycle looks different, so you shouldn’t be comparing yours to others. Instead, change your mindset, prepare well for your breaks, and you won’t have to fear any missed opportunities. There is a lot to be learned from today’s episode, so be sure to tune in!

“I hear a lot of agents say, ‘I don't want to take time away from my clients. I don't feel like that's good customer service.’ Well, it's probably not good of customer service if you're not taking a rest, because now you're not as sharp as you can be for your clients.” — Scott Comey [0:03:09]

“That break might be a staycation. It might be something easy and low-key. It doesn't need to be a giant world trip to Greece or Disney World with the whole family. It's good to match those breaks to your lifestyle.” — Renee Comey [0:17:10]
“The average human can appreciate vacations, they can appreciate taking breaks. Nobody is going to guilt trip you for taking a vacation.” — Scott Comey [0:19:17]
