Message OverviewWe all love a good love story — from fictional classics like Romeo and Juliet to blockbuster romances like Titanic. But the Bible’s love story between Hosea and Gomer is no fairy tale — it’s raw, heartbreaking, and profoundly real. In it, God uses Hosea’s marriage to a prostitute named Gomer as a living parable of His relentless, redeeming love for His people — a love that pursues us even when we wander, buys us back even when we betray, and restores us even when we are broken beyond recognition.
Reflection: Every time we run to lesser loves, we’re telling God, “You’re not enough.” And yet, His heart still breaks for us because His desire is for relationship, not just rule-keeping.
Key Truth: Redemption always costs something. Hosea paid silver and barley. God paid with His Son.
Reflection: God doesn’t erase your past — He redeems it. Your scars become part of a greater story of grace.
Application: We Are Gomer Hosea represents God. * Gomer represents us — wandering, unfaithful, easily drawn to lesser loves. * Yet God pursues, redeems, and restores* us every single time. * The gospel is not about us finding God — it’s about God finding us.
Key Takeaway:
“Sin may write you off, but grace always writes you back in.”
Final Challenge To the wanderer: God is calling you home. * To the broken: God can restore what was lost. * To the believer:* Live in the freedom of being loved with an unbreakable love.
Even when we walk away, God never walks away from us. The cross is His final word: “I will love you, no matter what.”

Life is short, time is moving fast, and every day is a gift from God. Just like the parable of the talents, God has entrusted each of us with time, abilities, and resources. How we invest them determines the eternal impact of our lives.
Key Points1. Life is a Vapor * Time passes quickly—from our teens to our later years. * Pastor Gene used a jar of jelly beans to illustrate: each jelly bean represents one week of life, and we only have so many. * The question: How will you spend your jelly beans? 2. Stewardship Matters * God owns everything—we are only managers. * Our time, talent, and treasure must be stewarded for God’s purposes. * Life may not be fair, but God expects us to faithfully use what we do have. 3. Use It or Lose It * In the parable, the servants who invested were rewarded. * The one who buried his talent lost everything. * If we hide our gifts, God calls it “wicked and lazy.” * The principle is true: use it, or lose it. 4. Recognize and Invest God’s Gifts * Pray boldly for God’s blessing and expanded influence, like Jabez. * Work diligently as if working for the Lord, not just an employee. * Saved people save people—our gifts are meant to bless others. 5. Eternal Perspective * Material things fade, but what we do for God lasts forever. * Relationships and souls are what truly matter. * We are blessed to be a blessing. 6. The Call to Action * Invest your life in the things that matter most—bringing people to Jesus. * Don’t wait for “someday.” Start with what you have now. * Pastor Gene challenged the church to a vision: see 500 people saved next year.
Final ChallengeEvery week is precious. Every gift matters. Every season of life is an opportunity to serve God. The question we must all answer:
How will you invest the rest of your days?

Jesus is still in the rescue business. He not only forgives sin and heals hearts, but He also calls us to help carry others to Him.
Key Points1. Take a Risk * Faith always involves risk. * The paralyzed man’s friends risked embarrassment, rejection, and even damage to property to get him to Jesus. * Serving and loving others will cost you something—but God rewards every risk taken for His Kingdom. 2. Don’t Stop Believing * The paralyzed man was healed because of their faith—the faith of his friends. * Keep praying, keep inviting, keep believing for your family, friends, and loved ones. * Testimonies of persistent faith show that one invitation, one prayer, one act of faith can change everything. 3. Share Your Story * Jesus told the healed man to pick up his mat. The mat symbolized his past, his pain, and his testimony. * Your “mat” is not about how bad you were, but about how good God is. * Your story has power to influence those around you more than any sermon.
Takeaways* Jesus heals first on the inside: forgiveness of sin is the most important healing. * Don’t disqualify yourself because of your past—God delights in using imperfect people. * Be willing to carry someone else’s burden, even if it means taking a risk. * Keep believing for breakthrough in the lives of those you love. * Share your story—your testimony is evidence of God’s grace.
Reflection Questions* Who in your life needs you to help carry them to Jesus? * What risk is God asking you to take for His Kingdom right now? * How has God used your past “mat” as a testimony of His goodness?

Only Jesus can satisfy the deepest needs of our hearts. We try to fill the God-shaped hole with possessions, relationships, or achievements, but only Christ brings true fulfillment, healing, and vision.
Main Points1. Only Jesus Can Satisfy * Knockoffs and substitutes in life never measure up. * Degrees, titles, promotions, and possessions can’t fill the God-sized hole within us. * Jesus alone is the Living Water and Light of the World. 2. Jesus Heals What is Broken * Our culture is obsessed with self—selfies, self-promotion, and self-centeredness. * A life focused only on me leads to emptiness, pride, or self-loathing. * A God-centered life brings peace, purpose, and joy. * “My story is all about Jesus.” 3. Jesus Restores What is Lost * The blind man’s healing (John 9:6–7) required faith to obey even when it seemed messy. * Sometimes God allows us to walk with “mud in our eyes” before the miracle. * The biggest faith is walking between the mess and the miracle. * Even in unanswered prayers, God’s power is still on display. 4. Jesus Shows the Way * Religion criticizes, but Jesus restores. * After being healed, the man encounters Jesus and responds with worship. * Worship is the natural response of seeing who Jesus truly is. * Jesus not only opens physical eyes but also gives spiritual sight.
Takeaways for Today* True satisfaction isn’t found in self or substitutes—it’s only in Jesus. * Your story is not about you; it’s about Christ working through you. * Don’t give up when you feel “stuck in the mud.” Sometimes the miracle is what God is doing inside of you. * Worship is the overflow of recognizing Jesus as Lord. * Clear vision comes when we stop pretending we’re fine and surrender to the One who heals.

God not only knows your name—He transforms your story. No matter how shattered, broken, or bound your life may feel, Jesus brings resurrection power. When His light shows up, darkness must flee.
Key Points1. God Isn’t Done with Your Story * The possessed man’s life was shattered—living in tombs, chained, tormented. * No one could control him, but Jesus could. * If God could set him free, He can transform you, your children, and your family. 2. The Enemy Wants to Uncover What God Has Covered * Shame, guilt, and lies try to strip us of our dignity. * God covers us with His grace and the blood of Jesus. * Don’t believe the enemy’s lie that your sin is too big for God’s forgiveness. 3. Cutting, Pain, and the Lies of the Enemy * Many young people turn to self-harm to cope with inner pain. * Jesus has already taken our pain on the cross. * You are more than likes, body image, or popularity—your worth is in Christ. 4. The Name of Jesus Is Greater * Demons recognized Jesus’ authority and had to submit. * Do we recognize His authority as clearly as they did? * As believers, we carry spiritual authority in Christ—darkness must flee when Jesus’ name is spoken. 5. Don’t Open Doors to Darkness * Stay away from tarot, Ouija boards, psychics, and counterfeit spiritual practices. * Parents: guard your home and your children—be alert to what they watch, read, and bring into your home. 6. A Changed Story Leads to a Mission * The man set free wanted to follow Jesus, but Jesus sent him back to his people to testify. * Your story of freedom becomes someone else’s hope. * Revival often costs more than we expect—are we willing to pay the price?
TakeawayYou are not a has been—you are a had been.
Your story doesn’t end in the tombs—Jesus brings resurrection power, and He wants to use your transformed life to set others free.
August 17, 2025
Your story does not have to end the way it began. God is the story changer. Through His grace, He can take broken, unwanted, and overlooked people and make them brand new.
Key Points1. God Can Rewrite Your Story * No matter your past—whether addiction, depression, poverty, or broken relationships—God brings blessing, freedom, and transformation. * The gospel isn’t about making good people better; it’s about making broken people new. 2. Zacchaeus: The Unwanted and Unclean * Chief tax collector, seen as a traitor and thief by his own people. * Climbed the ladder of success by stepping on others, only to find emptiness and loneliness at the top. * Like Zacchaeus, many today discover that worldly success cannot fill the void inside. 3. Lonely at the Top vs. Fulfilled in Christ * There are two “crash-out” moments: + Hitting rock bottom. + Reaching the top, only to feel empty. * True wealth is found in relationships, family, and living for God’s purpose. 4. Climbing the Tree * Zacchaeus wanted to see Jesus, but the crowd blocked his view. * Many today still can’t see Jesus because of the “crowd”—Christians or churches that push people away. * As the Church, we must always make room for those who are not here yet. 5. The Invitation of Grace * Jesus saw Zacchaeus, called him by name, and invited Himself to his house. * Grace finds us where we are, even when others reject us. * Encounters with Jesus aren’t limited to the church building—He meets us in everyday life. 6. A Changed Heart * Zacchaeus responded with repentance and generosity: + Giving half of his wealth to the poor. + Restoring fourfold what he had stolen. * Transformation is seen in actions—repentance leads to reconciliation and blessing. 7. From Traitor to Son * The crowd called him a sinner, a thief, and a traitor. * Jesus called him “Son.” * In Christ, labels are erased, and our true identity is restored.
TakeawayIf God could change Zacchaeus—the most despised man in Jericho—He can change your story too. Grace sees you, calls you by name, and invites you into a brand-new life.

Have you ever felt like God showed up too late? Like you were praying, hoping, and believing—but nothing happened? In today’s message, Pastor Gene walks us through the final “I Am” statement of Jesus: “I am the resurrection and the life.” Through the story of Lazarus, we discover a life-giving truth: God’s delays are not God’s denials.
Even when things seem dead and buried—your dreams, your hope, your faith—Jesus isn’t afraid to step into the stink of our lives. Just like He called Lazarus out of the tomb, He is calling you out of your grave of disappointment, shame, trauma, or sin. And not only does He call you out—He sets you free.
Key Takeaways:
Call to Action:
Are you still wrapped in grave clothes? Do you feel stuck in the tomb of your past or your pain? Jesus is calling your name. Will you respond?

Main Theme:Jesus boldly declares, “I am the Good Shepherd,” offering a powerful picture of His love, leadership, and protection over our lives. In a world filled with noise and confusion, Pastor Gene reminds us how vital it is to recognize and follow the voice of our Shepherd.
Key Points:1. The Good Shepherd Speaks to Us* Just like sheep learn to recognize the shepherd’s unique call, we must learn to recognize God’s voice. * Jesus still speaks—but are we still listening? * Voices of the world distract us, but God’s voice is clear: slow down, forgive, give, serve, trust. * The more we obey, the more we’ll hear Him.
“Jesus saves” means more than a ticket to heaven—it means healing, freedom, and restoration from every form of brokenness.
The Good Shepherd Supplies Our Needs John 10:10: “I came that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.”*
Psalm 23 reminds us: “The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.”
The Good Shepherd Shields Us Jesus willingly laid down His life* for His sheep (John 10:11,14).
In the Old Testament, sheep died for sin. In the New Testament, the Shepherd dies in place of the sheep.
The Good Shepherd Secures Us John 10:27–28: “No one will snatch them out of my hand.”*
Closing Illustration:Pastor Gene tells a story of his son Landon hearing his dad’s voice in a crowded stadium. Just like Landon, we must learn to distinguish the Father’s voice from all the other noise. The difference between a performer and someone who knows the Shepherd? “You may know Psalm 23—but I know the Shepherd.”

Pastor Gene’s sermon centers on the theme of humility, which is something many of us struggle with, often without realizing it. He uses personal stories, like how his kids keep him humble by pointing out his mistakes, to illustrate the importance of staying grounded. He also shares humorous anecdotes about children’s blunt honesty, showing how humility can be a daily lesson.
The core of the sermon is a reflection on Luke 14:1-14, where Jesus attends a dinner hosted by a Pharisee. Pastor Gene emphasizes how Jesus was closely watched, reminding us that as Christians, we too are being observed by the world. But instead of striving for perfection, we should embrace the fact that we serve a perfect God whose grace covers our imperfections. The secret to spiritual growth, according to Pastor Gene, is humility. It’s through humbling ourselves that we align with God’s plan for our lives.
In the story from Luke, Jesus addresses those fighting for the best seats at the table. Pastor Gene uses this to highlight how we often try to promote ourselves or seek recognition, but Jesus teaches that it’s better to choose the lowest seat—to humble ourselves and let God elevate us. The Pharisees had tried to trap Jesus by seeing if He would heal a man on the Sabbath, but Jesus turned the situation around, proving that compassion takes precedence over legalism.
The pastor then draws a parallel between this lesson and our own lives, sharing his personal experience of being unexpectedly honored at an event. He encourages us not to promote ourselves but to let God promote us. When we focus on lifting others up and serving instead of striving for recognition, we reflect the heart of Jesus.
Pastor Gene also touches on how the world often teaches self-promotion, but Jesus flips that notion, teaching that serving others and choosing humility is the path to true greatness. He concludes by encouraging the congregation to bless others, not just those who can repay us but especially the poor, the lame, and the hurting, following Jesus’ example.
In summary, Pastor Gene’s message emphasizes the power of humility, serving others, and trusting God to elevate us in His perfect timing.

In this sermon, Pastor Gene discusses the significance of attitude, emphasizing how a bad attitude can negatively impact every aspect of life, including relationships, work, and one’s spiritual journey. He acknowledges that everyone experiences bad days but warns against letting them extend into bad weeks, months, or even years. A key point is that a bad attitude blocks God’s blessings and potential in one’s life.
Using the parable of the vineyard workers (Matthew 20), Pastor Gene illustrates how comparison and grumbling can rob people of their joy. The early workers were initially content with their agreed wages, but once they saw the latecomers receiving the same pay, they became upset. Pastor Gene warns that comparing oneself to others breeds resentment and a negative attitude.
He encourages the congregation to avoid grumbling and judgment, as they can delay God’s blessings. Instead, he urges a shift toward gratitude, focusing on the many blessings one already has, like the simple things others may lack. Pastor Gene also highlights the importance of not being jealous of others’ blessings but rather celebrating them, trusting that God has a unique plan for everyone.
He concludes by reminding the church that the Kingdom of God is about grace—receiving what we don’t deserve—and encourages them to adopt an attitude of gratitude, as it will lead to greater blessings and elevation in life.

Pastor Gene’s sermon focuses on building a strong spiritual foundation as the church prepares to transition to a new campus. He emphasizes that the foundation of faith must be based on the teachings of the New Testament, especially the book of Acts, rather than trends or superficial elements. Creativity and relevance are encouraged in church life, but the core of their mission must remain centered on God’s word.
Using an analogy of teaching his daughter to drive, Pastor Gene highlights the importance of paying attention to life’s warning signs, especially as it relates to spiritual focus. Just as drivers must heed stop signs, believers must guard their hearts and stay focused on their spiritual mission. He urges the congregation not to get distracted by comparisons with other churches or societal trends, but to maintain their unique mission, serving the community with love, healing, and transformation.
Key themes include protecting one’s heart, receiving a spiritual inheritance, and investing in others. Pastor Gene reminds the congregation that true security comes only through Jesus, not in worldly possessions or status, and challenges them to live out their faith by serving others. The sermon concludes with an invitation to build life on the foundation of Jesus and encourages those present to commit or recommit their lives to Christ.

In today’s sermon, Pastor Gene emphasizes the importance of building a strong foundation for both our homes and our church, drawing from the principles in Acts 2:42-47. He urges us to commit fully to the teachings of the apostles, to foster unity through shared meals, prayer, and service, and to be in awe of God’s ongoing miracles in our lives. The sermon highlights that while we may not always see the miraculous answers we hope for, we should remain faithful and open to the smaller miracles of restoration, provision, guidance, and freedom that God works in our lives. Embody generosity and joy, reflecting the early church’s commitment to supporting one another and building a vibrant, connected community.

Pastor Gene’s sermon emphasizes the importance of building a strong foundation, both in our personal lives and in the church community. He discusses how modern conveniences haven’t led to greater contentment; instead, there’s more anxiety, depression, and confusion than ever. He highlights the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, noting that those who regularly attended faith-based services were less affected by anxiety and depression.
Drawing from the early Church in the book of Acts, Pastor Gene stresses that a solid foundation is built on the teachings of the apostles, community, and prayer. He compares this foundation to the story of the Three Little Pigs, emphasizing that a house built on a rock will withstand life’s storms. Pastor Gene encourages the church to be committed to Biblical teaching and to foster deep, meaningful relationships within the church community. He concludes by urging the congregation not just to be friendly but to make lasting friendships that will help build a strong, enduring church community.

Pastor Gene challenges the congregation to represent the “right Jesus” in their daily lives, ensuring their actions reflect the love, grace, and redemption that Christ offers, thereby avoiding the trap of becoming just a social club and instead remaining focused on their mission.

In Pastor Gene’s sermon “Build Your House Part 3,” he addresses the complexities of parenting and the importance of building a strong, godly home. He emphasizes that while modern advice can be overwhelming, the Bible offers timeless wisdom, especially in the Book of Proverbs, written by King Solomon. Solomon’s request for wisdom over riches pleased God, resulting in him becoming the wisest and wealthiest king. Pastor Gene draws from Proverbs to outline key elements of parenting and home-building.
He begins by highlighting the importance of having mentors and seeking advice from those who have successfully raised god-fearing children. He stresses that not everyone is qualified to give parenting advice, especially if they haven’t demonstrated success in their own family life. Pastor Gene acknowledges that he and his wife were not perfect parents but benefited greatly from the mentorship of others and his experience in youth ministry.
The sermon focuses on three main ingredients for building a godly home:
Pastor Gene concludes by reassuring parents that it’s never too late to start building a godly home culture. He acknowledges that mistakes are part of the journey but emphasizes the potential for growth and improvement at any stage. He calls on parents to embrace their role with intention and love, using biblical wisdom to guide their efforts.

In today’s continuation of the “Build Your House” series, Pastor Gene emphasizes the critical importance of intentionally building one’s family and personal life on a foundation designed by God. He warns that if we don’t actively shape our own lives and those of our children, the world will impose its own values and principles, leading to confusion, anxiety, and a lack of direction.
Pastor Gene references Proverbs 22:6, highlighting the wisdom in training up children in the way they should go, acknowledging that while this is not a guarantee, it significantly increases the likelihood of a successful, faith-centered life.
He shares personal insights from raising five children, underscoring that despite differing personalities and outcomes, a consistent foundation in faith has kept all his children serving the Lord. Pastor Gene stresses that living out one’s faith authentically and visibly is the most effective way to pass it on to the next generation.
He calls on parents to be committed to their faith, involve their children in church, and maintain a balance between spiritual and worldly activities. He also encourages guiding children’s friendships and continually reinforcing the values and teachings of God in everyday life.
To build a strong, faith-based household, parents must actively live out their faith, involve their children in church life, and consistently teach and model Godly principles. This intentional effort creates a sturdy foundation that will guide children throughout their lives, even through challenging times.

Pastor Gene’s sermon is part of a series called “Forgotten Heroes,” focusing on lesser-known people from the Bible to draw spiritual truths from their stories. Today’s message is about Naaman, a commander who had leprosy, highlighting the contrast between his public success and private struggle. Pastor Gene relates this to our lives, where we often hide our shame and struggles behind our accomplishments.
He emphasizes that pride can handicap us, using Naaman’s initial refusal to follow Elisha’s instructions as an example. Naaman’s pride and preferences initially hindered his healing, as he wanted a more dignified and private solution. However, through the intervention of his servants, who reasoned with him, Naaman humbled himself and followed the prophet’s directions, resulting in his miraculous healing.
Pastor Gene makes several key points:
He concludes by encouraging the congregation to make a move towards God, using the acronym MOVE:

Pastor Gene’s sermon delves into the theme of salvation and the presence of God in our lives. He emphasizes the importance of understanding what it truly means to be saved and how God’s grace plays a vital role in this process. The sermon is structured around the metaphor of cleaning one’s house, symbolizing the inner purity required for God’s presence to dwell within us.
Pastor Gene stresses the need for a balanced understanding of biblical teachings, highlighting the importance of interpreting scriptures within their context. He emphasizes that God’s grace is central to salvation, regardless of one’s past mistakes or doubts.
The sermon progresses to discuss the concept of God’s presence throughout history, starting with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Despite their initial communion with God, sin led to their expulsion from His presence. Subsequently, God established the Tabernacle as a place for His presence, with strict rituals and regulations governing access to it.
However, Pastor Gene explains how even this system was flawed, as evidenced by Jesus’ rebuke of the money changers in the temple. Ultimately, Jesus becomes the perfect vessel for God’s presence, as He is without sin.
The end of the sermon revolves around the revelation that believers now serve as the dwelling place of God’s presence. Through Jesus’ sacrifice, our bodies become temples of the Holy Spirit, allowing us to experience God’s presence intimately.
In conclusion, Pastor Gene encourages listeners to embrace their role as carriers of God’s presence, dispelling any feelings of unworthiness or inadequacy. He emphasizes that God’s grace cleanses us from sin and enables us to dwell in His presence continually. The sermon culminates in a call to worship and gratitude for the privilege of hosting God’s presence in our lives.

Today Pastor Gene starts a new series titled “Am I Really Saved?” which addresses one of the most common questions he receives as a pastor. He emphasizes the importance of understanding God’s grace as the foundation of this series, both for personal growth and for effectively sharing the gospel with others. He acknowledges the two extremes of legalism and hyper grace and aims to find a balanced biblical perspective.
He shares his experience of growing up in a fear-based Christianity, with the pressure of perfection and constantly seeking forgiveness for any wrongdoing. He contrasts this with the perspective of those who believe once saved, they can live however they please, which he terms “hyper grace.”
Pastor Gene emphasizes the importance of finding balance in understanding God’s grace and salvation. He delves into the concept of righteousness, explaining that it is not earned through one’s performance but is given freely through faith in Jesus Christ. He uses the example of Abraham’s faith as described in Romans 4 to illustrate this point.
He highlights that righteousness is about one’s position in God’s family rather than one’s performance. He emphasizes that God’s grace is freely given and cannot be earned through works. Pastor Gene encourages the congregation to believe in Jesus Christ as the Messiah and surrender their lives to him.
Pastor Gene’s sermon centers on the importance of understanding and embracing God’s grace as the foundation of salvation, emphasizing faith in Jesus Christ rather than relying on one’s own efforts for righteousness.

Ultimately, Pastor Gene invites listeners to make a personal commitment to Jesus, urging them to apply the metaphorical “blood of Jesus” to their lives and embrace him as their Lord and Savior.
