The In Focus podcast was born out of necessity; a series of stories I need to produce for my university course. However, with help from Jordan Watkins on the production side, I aim for this podcast to grow out of that, and become a creative platform where I can produce content on topics that interest me, and hopefully interest you too.
Johann van Loggerenberg is a former SARS official and author of the book Tobacco Wars. he joined me to discuss South Africa's tobacco industry, his time at SARS, the Rogue Unit narrative and his thoughts on the tobacco ban.

Mvuyisi Mvoko is a matric student at Alexander Road High School. He speaks to us about how he has dealt with the isolation as a result of the lockdown, as he tries to find some positivity in incredibly negative circumstances.
Dr. Ciara Staunton is a Senior Lecturer in Law at Middlesex University as well as a Senior researcher at Eurac Research’s Institute for Biomedicine. Dr. Staunton has also spent some time in South Africa, where she was a Visiting fellow at the University of Cape Town's Genetics Department and a Visiting Researcher at the Center for Applied Ethics at the University of Stellenbosch. Dr. Staunton was also an advisor to the South African National Institute for Communicable Diseases on strengthening data protection framework.
I spoke to Dr. Staunton about the State of Disaster in South Africa and the possible implications it may have on South Africans, both now and in the future.
